When did I.C.U take power and when did Ethiopians troops come to Somalia? As soon as I.C.U defeated the warlords, thousands of Ethiopians cross the border.I.C.U came to power June 2006 and Ethiopia came to Somalia late 2006!I am not disputing T.F.G was meant for Somalia and I.C.U supported them!I supported them too,but i rejected their stance when they allowed the warlords and Ethiopians to locate at Badioa. They could have simply told the warlords and Ethiopia to fight the I.C.U in the countryside and not bring their troops to Badioa!Tell me, weren't the warlord the same ones that were stopping them from becoming a government? If they never took sides and the I.C.U still attacked, then all the Muslims would be a witness against the I.C.U because they were attacking the legitimate government! I agree with you Alshabab and Alitixaad made some big mistakes..And they no to be discussed very seriously.lakin, it still doesn't there is no Islamic right to defend their lands. You are accusing me of only talking about foreign enemy, whilst you are constantly trying to deny or underplay the Ethiopian and concentrate on Somalis. No doubt there are people who don't want peace in Somalia. Your link says " insurgent killed in Mosque"...but the link says "Somali official killed!....and Mosques are not off limits.....The Ethiopians use Mosques as military bases and the Alshabab assisinate T.F.G members when they leave the Mosque.

He just gave a history a less about that particular region. The rest of his argument was in essense praising "non ocaden" clans and vilifying the O.N..F and " Ocaden line". Probably just shows the sat state Somalis live in. Ie they fear each other more than they fear or despise the Zenawi regime. I would have like to heard how the O.N.LF is simply suppose to " lay" down it's sword when they are in a theatre of war? Of course what he is saying about O.N.L.F might be well true, but this very rationale of thinking( ie qabilism) is probably what put Somalis in this peril!

Which government do you mean? Meles Zenawi or Abdullahi Yusuf or the warlords?There was no real government in the vast majority of Southern Somalia apart from Badioa. Its simple to understand= government story finished, the day Ethiopians and warlords located at Badioba to attack the I.C.U. What's so hard to understand about that? If the I.C.U marched to Badioa to only attack the T.F.G., then this would have been a gross violation. I would say to you this is completely wrong. But, as I have said many times: when the Ethiopians and Warlods swamped to Badioa, the I.C.U gained Islamic,Secular and political right to defend themselves.You can't say Sheikh Aweys and co have no right to defend themselves, when the Ethiopians also declared war against them. Waxaasi waa sheeko ciyaal!

Let me give you an example: Lets say they was a some Islamic Sheikhs in Somaliland and the Somaliland government invited them to take part in the political process. Which would the most appropriate choice: 1. Sheikh boycotts this and say that Somaliland entity is Secular Kufar and that by taking part in democracy, elections and working with seculars;they would be compromising their Islamic cerdentials. or 2.The Sheikhs work with seculars in the hope of trying to have a little Islamic influence and the general unity of the people? If we are saying Islamists can't never work with secular people, then my friend the whole Muslim world will be in turmoil.....the people who are claiming this don't work with Sufis and even their own Salafis who follow slightly different agenda....

If they don't compromise and work together then there will a fitna and other enemy nations will support " secular" vs " Islamists". The Islamic faction in Algeria dropped their claims for a full shariah Islamic state and agreed to compromise with the government and take part in elections. Likewise, Hezbollah and Hamas have dropped their claims for attacking overseas targets and again dropped claims for a fully Islamic state, thus choosing to work with Lebanese government. Eve though Fatah is secular, Hamas still don't mind working with them for the common good of the Palestinians people, because hadi kale cadowga will make gains from them. If the Ethiopians leave, then Sheikh Shariff and co have work with secularists in the T.F.G. That is not because they have to like each other, but simply for the sake of avoiding bloodshed and attempting to create some sort of unity. As for Alshabab, they are another story.

I have seen Somali Sheikhs(sufis) in the Northern Somali countryoside who teach quran to nomadic Somalis and are alleged to have escape the wrath of that regime. Xoogsade, what if Ethiopia disintegrates as you say and Somalis are still in the same situation? As much I dislike thei regime, I wouldn't wish for their people to suffer like Somalia.Most people are just poor and live in fear of that regime!
