Being Somali is just a default of birth. You could have been born Roman Gypsy, Dalit or any other oppressed tribe on earth. No point being proud or not proud!

A/Y In a Serious Condition at a Hospital in Nairobi
Fabregas replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
I hope this isn't the last decision he leaves this earth with: quote:It said it was deeply concerned that the delivery of food aid was being restricted. Ports and airports have been closed and a road convoy halted. The UN says one million Somalis are homeless because of the fighting. The head of the national security service said President Abdullahi Yusuf had ordered restrictions to be imposed on the region immediately. Meanwhile, Mr Yusuf has been taken to hospital in Nairobi. Officials say he is fine but others said he was in a "serious" condition. -
Interesting that Iran apparently halted it in 2003, the same year as the war in Iraq. Iran is probably been rewarded for helping with the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, as well as the so called recent success in Iraq. They apparently stopped the flow of weapons into Iraq and that Shia pretender Muqtadr Al Sadr also suddenly disappeared from the scene and disbanded his weapons for six months; despite saying he was ready for “martyrdom" previously. What's going on(history is the clue)? There are also reports that the Americans might be considering invading Pakistan to take control of the nuclear weapons. Thus, why you are being bombarded with news everyday that the rag tag Mullahs are suddenly about to take control of Wasiristan and Afghanistan. Watch the space! Iran halted its nuclear weapons programme in 2003, US agencies say Iran halted its nuclear weapons programme in 2003 and has not restarted it since, a stunning new assessment released yesterday by intelligence agencies in the United States has found. The findings contradict an assessment by US intelligence officials two years ago that Tehran was seeking nuclear weapons and appear to undercut President Bush’s repeated warnings about Iran becoming a nuclear power. As recently as August Mr Bush warned that Iran’s pursuit of nuclear technology could lead to a holocaust and that the US “will confront this danger before it is too late”. In October he said that a nuclear-armed Iran could lead to a third world war. Last night, however, Mr Bush’s closest aides claimed that the finding was vindication for the White House’s muscular but diplomatic approach. Stephen Hadley, Mr Bush’s National Security Advisor, said that the White House was only told last week about the new assessment of Iran’s nuclear programme. The National Intelligence Estimate (NIE) report — the consensus view of all 16 US intelligence agencies — says that Iran continues to enrich uranium, which means it might be able to develop a nuclear weapon between 2010 and 2015 if it restarts its weapons programme. It also said that Iran’s ultimate goal is still to develop the capability to produce a nuclear weapon. But it adds: “Tehran’s decision to halt its nuclear weapons programme suggests it is less determined to develop nuclear weapons than we have been judging since 2005.” Two years ago the NIE stated with “high confidence” that Iran was pursuing the nuclear bomb. Yesterday’s report said that Iran’s ultimate intentions about acquiring a nuclear weapon are unclear, but that Tehran’s decisions “are guided by a cost-benefit approach rather than a rush to a weapon irrespective of the political, economic and military costs. “Some combination of threats of intensified international scrutiny and pressures, along with opportunities for Iran to achieve its security, prestige, and goals for regional influence in other ways might, if perceived by Iran’s leaders as credible prompt Tehran to extend the current halt to its nuclear weapons programme.” The assessment comes five years after the release of another report by the NIE which claimed that Iraq possessed chemical and biological weapons and was pursuing the nuclear bomb. The report was one of the main pieces of evidence used by the White House to justify the invasion of Iraq. It also comes amid a presidential campaign in which the issue of Iran has eclipsed Iraq as the most pressing foreign policy challenge facing the US. Several leading Republican candidates have been bellicose on the issue. The report addresses claims by President Ahmadinejad of Iran that Tehran has 3,000 centrifuges enriching uranium. It says that Iran might have the centrifuges, but is having difficulties in making them work. Mr Hadley said: “It [the report] confirms that we were right to be worried about Iran seeking to develop nuclear weapons. The intelligence also tells us that the risk of Iran acquiring a nuclear weapon remains a very serious problem. “It suggests the President has the right strategy: intensified international pressure along with a willingness to negotiate.” Last month the International Atomic Energy Agency, the world’s nuclear watchdog, reported that Iran was operating 3,000 uranium-enriching centrifuges. But it said it was unclear if Iran was pursuing a nuclear weapon. http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/us_and_americas/article2995111.ece

Bear with me a moment here. I am trying to work out the rationality of those that are insistant that Somaliland is part and parcel of Somalia and will always continue to do so. Note that I am not a Somaliland supporter or anything like that. According some members of this forum; no matter what happens "North-Western" Somalia is part of Somalia and there is some kind sacred Somaliast doctrine that purposes they stay that way. However, Somaliland has it's own government(albeit not recognised),military, passports and the T.F.G have no real jurisdiction over them. Djibouti, N.F.G and Ocadenia were part of Somalia and now they are not. Thus, if one day, Somaliland would be recognised that by the international community would those ppl insist that SL is part and parcel of Somalia? Lastly, doesn't constantly claiming the seccionists(spelling?) are evil like, anti-Somalia and traitors increase their resolve and support for their ideology. In other words, doesn't the demonisation of Somaliland by the Somaliasts on this forum achieve the opposite, ie make Somalilanders more demanding for a break up with Somalia?

Caamir, whether the I.C.U has a solution for Somalia is a different story alotogether. But you are there politics were driven by fear, paranoia and sometimes hawkish tendencies displays some the younger ideologists and older hotheads from the early 90s. However, one could understand why the I.C.U adopted such a position. That is, the T.F.G can not be trusted as an entity. They can Khartoum even denying that there was thousands of Ethiopians crossing the border. Some of them went as far as claiming thatr they were Somali soldiers with donared uniforms. How do you sit down, trust and negotiate with a man who allowing his house(badioa) to be used a means to attack you? I mean, what was the point of being offered all those concessions when a war was being prepared? The real negotiations happened when the Ethiopian General met mr Shariff and those demands that they made to him were completely unaccaptable to him and his organisation, ie to surrender some wanted men, surrender their arms and most importantly allow the presence of Ethiopian troops in Somalia.

One of the Sheikhs( I believe in the first lecture) touched on one of the least discussed and biggest Fitnahs which has plagued the Muslim world in the last 100 years, ie declaring war against secular regimes.I believe this is the Sheikh ppl said was defensive! I will add my few words to this discussion, when I get the right time, which is probably some time next week.

The stakes( war) in Somalia have been raised to new levels and more Ethiopians are been sent, whilst the other groups are heavily preparing and reorganizaing themselves. Of course the other side wouldn't lose face if they negotiated with this gentleman.Perhaps if they negotiate and he doesn't have the capacity to tell Ethiopians to leave; then the can say " we told you so..". But if they ignore his calls for negotiations, then he can turn around and say " I am for negotation, but these guys don't want it". Lastly, what many people are forgeting is that there has already been hours and hours and negotiations in Sudan before the build up to the war last year. The conversation went something like this: I.C.U: We want all foreign troops and Ethiopia out of Somalia T.F.G: There are no occupation troops in Somalia, only friendly neighbours who came to *** ist the government I.C.U: Ethiopia is our historical enemy and they are plotting against the Somali state! T.F.G: No, that was a long time ago, we have patched up things and now they are trying to rebuild Somalia. I.C.U: We don't believe such things, if they don't go, we shall have to remove them ourselves! T.F.G: The only way our allies will leave is if you: lay down your arms, surrender the terrorists and accept the legitimate Somali Government! I.C.U: We can't accept such things! And the whole negotiations never got past that sticky point( presence of Ethiopians troops). Will this man raise the stakes, ie bring something new to the table? I highly doubt it!

Because he(Gerrard) knows that if they win this season, they wont win for another twenty years. So when is around 48, they'll be saying "Steve G, the last man to lift the cup for liverpool".
-
Why do you think this man was chosen in the first place? Becauce he is man they feel wont make any trouble and question things. They wanted a man who will quietly sit on the T.F.G and Ethiopian caravan, without a fuss or creating division like Geedi.

In Britain, "Ninjabis" learn to fight back By Amil Khan LONDON (Reuters) - Anyone tempted to pick on a headscarf-wearing Muslim woman better hope they don't run into a Ninjabi. Every week around 30 Muslim women, most wearing veils, gather in a community centre in east London to learn how to block, knee and punch would-be attackers or lecherous men targeting passive-looking victims. The organizers, who named the classes after Japanese Ninja warriors and women who wear the hijab, say Muslim women are looking to fight back against unwanted advances and a rising number of anti-Muslim attacks. "The ladies love the Ninjabi thing. It gives them a good giggle," said class instructor Dee Terry, who is not a Muslim herself. One of the attendees, 31-year-old mother Mahmuda Mazid, said she took up the classes after a gang of youths tried to rob her teenage brother while she was with him in a local park. "There was this sheer feeling of helplessness that I couldn't help myself or my brother... and there was absolute rage," she said. "I knew I had to do something to equip myself. "In the classes I saw protection and self defense. That's what I needed." The classes start with a warm-up and then the women -- no men are allowed -- practice punches, strikes using the heel of the hand, knee strikes to the groin and defenses against knives and sticks. Terry also teaches the women how to deter potential attackers by looking assertive. The loose full-length clothing favored by Muslim women rules out high-kicking maneuvers but does not otherwise hinder movement, says Terry. The Hijab and the Niqab -- which covers the face and leaves only the eyes visible -- clearly identify Muslim women, increasing their chances of becoming victims of anti-Muslim hostility. But Terry says Islamic clothing itself does not make it easier to attack a woman. "An attacker can pull your headscarf but they can also pull your hair, so Islamic clothes don't make that much of a difference," added Terry, who also teaches Judo, Jujitsu and Kickboxing. "PERVY MEN" AND "HOODIES" In the dilapidated area where the classes are held, Muslim women said their biggest worry was harassment from "pervy men" and the violent anti-social behavior of teenagers from urban low-income communities, popularly called "hoodies" and "chavs". In other areas of London, Muslim women said growing hostility towards Muslims -- commonly called Islamophobia -- since London's July 7th bombings in 2005 was a big fear. Attacks on Muslims in London nearly quadrupled in the days after the July attacks. Figures collated by London's Metropolitan Police, and presented in a report by the Muslim Safety Forum, showed 303 attacks in July 2005, up from 82 in the previous month. Azad Ali, chairman of the forum, said the attacks ranged from verbal abuse and vandalism of mosques to physical attacks. But because of limitations in the way attacks are reported, the real number is likely to be far higher, he added. National figures are lacking because there are no universally agreed criteria among the country's police forces for what constitutes an Islamophobic attack, said Ali. Muslims, who make up about 3 percent of Britain's population, also do not readily report attacks. An initiative by London's police to engage with Muslim women found many did not report attacks because they felt the police would not act. Others had limited English and were unable to register complaints without help. "The issue of reporting crime... was a major concern amongst certain (Muslim) communities," the police said in a report on meetings with Muslim women. "This may lead to disenchantment with the process and eventual disengagement from the police and justice system," the police added in the report. "ENTER THE NINJABI" Official figures cite London as having the largest proportion of Muslims in the UK at 3.8 percent. The Ninjabi classes are held in the Newham area of the capital, where Muslims make up 24 percent of local inhabitants. The organizers said the classes were a response to overwhelming demand from Muslim women. "It was a need. Women were coming and asking for self- defense classes. We had heard of increasing Islamophobia and other sorts of attacks on Muslim women," said Mizan Raja, a coordinator of Islamic Circles, the organization running the classes. The organizers say although similar self-defense classes are common the light-hearted approach which respects the women's faith has made the Ninjabi classes massively popular. "We could fill a class a day. It's totally oversubscribed," said Raja. The organizers plan to split the class according to experience, using names inspired by 1970s Hong Kong films starring martial arts legend Bruce Lee. The beginners' level will be called "Enter the Ninjabi", the next will be "Return of the Ninjabi", then "Way of the Ninjabi". The organizers also plan to expand the Ninjabi concept. "It's about empowering Muslim women... We could do it throughout the country," Raja added.
