Simple solutions to terror groups and security.

I thin it's " feel sorry for Arabs season". Their leaders and kingdoms were founded by the West, thus they for the most part owe their allegiance to them. Reer Bin Saud would in the Desert with Geel iyo Caano if it wasn't for Engris. Sida rag baa wax loo qabsada!Nuff of the Aljazeera propoganda, lol!

Xiin, I agree with you on the Shariah law thing and I by no means an expert it, by more organized resistances in the world in Lebanon and Palestine have not made Shariah as their immediate goal. Though I doubt people like ABu Mansur and co will compromise on that. You didn't answer my question: should resistance be stopped and abandoned for the meanwhile? Yes or No ya akhi? That is to say: should the half "hearted measures" be completely abandoned or reorganized? It seems to me you're asking for a great deal. You want them( resistance groups) to negotiate, reconcile, unite Somalis, revive the organs of the state and not only that but also to intiate a plan to remove Ethiopian presence under the banner of all Somalis with the minimum amount of suffering to Somalia. You are asking for a Salahudeen Ayubi, and frankly Somalis don't have such a person! Reconcialition will take years and years. Negotiation and talks with Xabashis and T.F.G to negotiate a peace deal? That can be achieved, but only if the players involved agree to such a thing!........

I don't know exactly how my reconcialition works, but I'm for reconcialition anyway, it sounds rather nice. I support resistance against Xabashis, but only if it's not done by one "subclan", all the subclans including Puntland, Somaliland and Gedo have to come and help. I support resistance only if it's in the forest and Xabashis use rubber bullets! There must no civilian casualties and Salahudeen himself must emerge in Muqdisho and lead the good fight! Anybody who says that resistance continues so long as there are Ethiopians on Somali soil is a keligis Muslim! Anyone who says that no compromise on the presence of Ethiopian troops is anti peace! The war has nothing to do with Islam and Somali nationalism, rather it's between Somali clans and is indeed a proxy civil war! Don't waste your time with these suicide bombers they refuse to sit a tree so we can make peace with Abdullahi Yusuf who will phone Zenawi and kindly tell him to take his troops out!

On the contrary that is the 'in' question. Jendayi is trying her best to harness weight and credibility for the TFG in which her government has backed it with full support. Geedi has been shown the door and his replacement is making all the right moves. Head of the TFG and notably the obstacle to any development in the recreation of Somali State is hospitalized and incapacitated in London. Plans are been devised to minimize if not eradicate the presence of Ethiopian troops in the country. In all aspects a whole new approach is been pursued in the region regarding Somalia, and the thought to dismember them is not on the agenda. But consider this for one moment 'Riayaale to replace Yeey'. It might sound absurd, so does the word 'if'. Recognizing S/land as an independent state will not in anyway help the war against terror but vice versa. And the newly found JB's girlfriend is aware of that but her hubby aint. Juje Bro, do you know something we don't know? All the open evidence points to a continuation of the current approach, ie a prolongement of Ethiopian involvement and interference in Somalia. Americans look like they are encouraging Ethiopians to stay for a little longer. This will probably be all the way up until there are so called elections(2009) in Somalia and maybe even beyond. With all respect to Mr Nur, his going forth between the opposition and T.F.G are not particularly important. That is to say He doesn't have the knowhow, political experience or outright power to ask for a reduction of troops or perhaps a withdrawl to Adiss Ababa. The parliament speaker said that Ethiopians will stay so long as there are armed groups in Somalia. More importantly for us: quote:Mike McConnell, director of national intelligence, also told U.S. lawmakers that Somalia's transitional government would likely collapse if Ethiopian troops pulled out of the country. The above probably sums what Jenday Frazer is adovocating for: a continuation of Ethiopian occupation as they believe the T.F.G is not fit to run things. Secondly, this more or less what the Ethiopians are saying( there are islamists we will stay and T.F.G is divided). So who exactly is making this plan you speak of? Obviously the U.S.A isn't going to officially recognise Somaliland and appear as if they are supporting the partition of Somalia. But they will most likely pour funds, aid and military training to make Somaliland more powerful. Somaliland would also have to give something in return. I haven't worked this one out yet, but I find if far fetched to believe it is for Somaliland to sit with gang in Badioa and make a unity government with them!

I don't think we'll here anything official soon! If Kosovo is anything to go by most countries will be hestitant(especially in africa) to dismember other countries. In this case the AU would be seen as contradictory if they support T.F.G's sovereignity and then recognise Somaliland. The Americans will probably say we are leaving it the AU; and then the AU will say we are leaving this one to the Somalis themselves! Of course due to Kenya, Ethiopia and South Somalia, Americans will be supporting Somaliland more fiercely as they supported Kosovo. One is thing is certain and one is completely out of the picture. What is certain is that Somaliland's political importance has immensely increased since 9/11 and now with the war in Southern Somalia. What is out of the picture is the Americans somehow telling Somaliland to create a unity government with the T.F.G or any other Somali entity!

Its out of the hands of the politicians now. I would have thought bribery and corruption contributed to this debacle in the first place?

MARC SMITH EXCLUSIVE*** NOMAD STATUS ON SOL***

I was expecting a video! -
My position or even your position is particularly irrelevant in the bigger scheme of things. What Alshabab, Ethiopia and America say matters a great deal, that is fairly obvious. I made my position clear before and i'll say it again: I completely support negotiation and dialogue with any Somali entities and even Ethiopians if they are sincere in leaving Somalia and creating a peaceful working solution in Somalia. Clearly a "compromised solution" between the warring groups in Somalia could end the war in Somalia, again that is fairly obvious to everyone. However, it is up to you to explain to us what goals should exactly be compromised. If Ethiopians are staying in Somalia for another year, what approach should Somalis take? Should Somalis stop resistance for the time being as everyone is dying according to you? Should they unite first, reconcile and then fight the good fight against the occupiers? Should Alshabab and I.C.U abandon demands for Shariah law and join and compromise with a secular government? If you're not going to tell us how you reconcialition thingy works, then this will get boring an repetitive, ie you will tell us all day you believe in compromise and dialogue! And then Baashi will proclaim everyone(except him) is for the killing of children and bla bla bla...... To clarify my position again: Reconcialition can't and has never happened in an occupied/failed state with gross foreign interference. But there can be negotiation between T.FG.,Ethiopia and I.C.U to facilitate and end to the current war. Remember negotiation and reconcialition are two different things. Reconcialition can happen in a free country whereby all Somalis can independently sort out their differences. But if you guys are saying Somalis can sit at a tree and thus remove the need for Ethiopian troops or perhaps even unite to drive them out. You guys have to explain that one to us,as I am still struggling to get my head around it! Remember when Baashi had a got at me last year, when I said the Muqdisho conference reconcialitian conference would be a farce and couldn't unite Somalis? He argued we should give it a chance as Somalis clans could potentianlly unite under that scenario! I said then that the meeting would be an Ethiopian organised farce and thus couldn't stop the war, reconcile or bring Somalis closer together. Of course he read it as sign supporting more war and the killing of "mataada". I admit that I don't have a solution for Somalia which could end the political deadlock. I could also type in the word reconcialition on my screen a dozen or so time and pretend it will do something for Somalia, when the major players are not at all interested. That would a deserve a thread dedicated to all the political dreams of Solers and their visions for Somalia NOT a mature and detailed proposals on how the deadlock can be solved in Somalia!

Originally posted by Nephthys: The problem is that there are hardliners on both sides who do no want peace until the other side is gone. They're going by Stalin's "Die, but do not retreat" motto. It is easy to see why these conflicts can be kept going for century after century. Hatred is timeless. I hate this planet - I truly feel I was born in the wrong century.. Exactly my friend. Alshabab al Mujahideen or at least the group led by Sheikh Fuad, Abu Mansur and others don't want sit down with secular T.F.G, whom they see as Gaalo and Ethiopians whom they see as Crusaders. It is unlikely that they will compromise their principles and pan out an all inclusive power sharing deal for Somalia with the Secular T.F.G, that is assuming they are invited in the first place. They want nothing short of Shariah Somalia and Ethiopians to leave Somalia. They even broke ties with Sheikh Shariff for adopting nationalistic rhetoric and for stating the American Islamic Courts volunteer was a foreigner and foreigners shouldn't be fighting in Somalia. The other side, ie the Ethiopians and T.F.G will only meet "moderate" members of the I.C.U like the ones in Asmara. The American adminstration will also never allow "extremists" such as Sheikh Hassan Turki to be involved in the political process. Ethiopia looks like She will stay in Somalia until the end of the year or most probably until farcical elections take place in 2009. The Americans also want Ethiopians to stay for a longer period. That is essentially the gridlock in Somalia, everybody says they have the solution to open the traffic, that is: reconcialition, compromise and dialogue! How this will translate into political reality on the ground has yet to be explained!

He also said, " Ethiopia nabadeeda wey sugan karta", with regards to the South Somalia conflict. He met Zenawi and Abdullahi Yusuf in Adiss prior to the war last year, if I am not mistaken. The majority of Somalilanders( what ever that means) are against what Ethiopians are doing, but the admin is probably hoping that the Islamic Courts and Alshabaab are destroyed by the Ethiopians. Somaliland like Puntland and T.F.G is staunchly against the spread of political Islam or Shariah groups in Somalia territory. You know in politics you have to give something in order to get something. Thus in this case the recent rushes from Hargeysa to Washington could indicate Somaliland is perhaps maybe willing to play more of a role in the war on terror. American troops/bases in Berbera for recognition anyone? You bet Jenday Frazer discussed combating political Islam in the Horn with Hargeysa admin. Obviosuly Somaliland isn't going to militarly joing the war on terror, but perhaps a Djibouti like relationshiop could be on the cards if Somaliland is recognised? ClealY Somaliland admin can't be compared to the T.F.G, PL and warlords. But they do have a controversial relationshio with Ethiopia, ie handing over O.N.L.F suspects and expelling Somalia journalists. It just also just happens the enemies of Ethiopia admin coincide with those of the Somaliland admin, ie greater Somalia advocates, alitixaad and Onlf. A bit like the Arab States who condemn the occupation of Lebanon, but also condemn and loathe Hezbollah for military engaging Israel. They want the best of both worlds!
-
quote:Jendayi promised to mediate between the TFG and all opposition groups - hence her arrival in Hargeysa is in the spirit to bring together all conflicting parties within Somalia. I have heard of quote of the year, but that must be the joke of the year!
-
Jenday Frazer and her cohorts are the biggest supporter and financers of the occupation in Somalia, Zenawi and the T.F.G. You see the problem when Somaliland supporters go on about being against occupation and bombard us with grand visits of Riyaale to Adiss and Washington to meet Frazer/Zenawi?

I swear Colombia was still one of the most dangerous places in the world? Far more dangerous than Lebanon. In fact one could say there are far more dangerous countries then Lebanon. Sri Lanka is far more dangerous then many of those countries, let alone Lebanon with its few political assisination here and there!
