@ME, waxaa la iskuma haysto! Tying Ethiopian withdrawal to Somalis making peace is a disastrous concept. Firstly, because Somalis could 15 years to make peace. Secondly, it justifies their intervention in Somalia. I don't disagree with you, Xiin and others reconciliation thingy. I was just want to expose those who are using reconcialition and peace to execute the wishes of the Ethiopian adminstration. They have a different agenda and it isn't purely based on making peace between Somalis.

Originally posted by Aduun iyo aakhiro: I think ME is right in most of what he/she said. This is my strategy for peace and withdrawal of the ethiopian troops. First the people -the rebels- must denounce violence and agree to join in on any peaceful resolution talks without silly conditions that cannot be met for whatever reasons. If they need more time to organise themselves into a properly organised and effective force to be reckoned with-one that can demand resonable conditions be met, they ought to ask for it and i believe most somalis will back them up on this. They ought to come up with a clear plan that will not favour any and that will help unify us and give us all direction and a sense of belonging. And liKe me said transparency is very important in order to win the trust of all somalis. If it is a nation they want build they ought to know that governments can not be oposed by the use of violence and that many a times people compromise on everything including power in so that oder may not be compromised. Order is the greater good in many cases and chaos the worst evil and how best to a set a people on the right path than to agree that no one may use violence as a means of pursuation. The oposition is loosing valuable support simply because they are not trained and not displined. No one must waste lifes of somalis including the government but remmember the government has legitimate authority to use force and the rebels not. If we are to be bounded by rules then the the rebels must devise a different strategy to achieve their goals and we are tired of all of this deaths and destructions. Let us for once learn to do things the right way. Sending kids to war ill equiped and barely trained and without proper leadership and faced with oponents that are stronger than them and enjoy alot more support, is equal to killing them In all honesty me said it all. Your strategy is a what gives the " rebels" no choice in the first place. You want to destroy them, besiege them and make submit with the help of Ethiopian tanks. But you deny them the right to defend themselves against this aggression! Maybe a better strategy would be for them all to report to Adiss ABaba and personally apologise tO Meles Zenawi, so he can pardon them?

Imagine your country has been invaded and occupied by a brutal, fascist occupying force. This enemy mercilessly slaughters your people and sends thousand of them to concentration camps. The enemy burns down the crops, whilst attempting to subjugate your people by starving, raping and destroying their culture. This cruel enemy firmly believes that he should settle their people in your land. He believes their culture is far superior to yours. Now, imagine you're a local resistance leader and one day you caught some of the soldiers of the colonialists. What would you do? Your troops become excited and hence urge you to use opportunity this to harm and torture these soldiers. They remind you, “they do to us too". What do you do? You reply, “well they aren't our teachers". That story is attributed to the teacher, warrior, shaheed, and lion of the desert, Omar Mukhtar. Inshallah, today I will post the film: Lion of the Desert. Many of you might have seen it already, but there are many lessons in his struggle and his conduct with his enemies for the youth of today. GJ GOATE! quote:We go back in history to 1862 where a young boy of a poor household was born in a town controlled by the Uthmany Khilafa. This young man was brought under the care and tutelage of one of the Shuyookh in his home town when he was at the ripe age of 16 after the death of his father. He eventually developed a lifestyle of not sleeping more than 3 hours every night in order to get up to pray to Allah at the last third of the night and recite Qur'an until fajr. He memorized the Qur'an (as all knowledgeable people begin their lives) eventually, and was known to have finished his revisions in its entirety every seven days, regardless of the sufferings he encountered in his life. His courage and wisdom was pronounced, and was an example for people to follow. This was evident on one of his caravan trails to Sudan as a young man. A lion had deterred the people from entering a particular path. Caravans were veered else where for fear of this lion. To distract this lion, people would resort giving it one of their camels, a most prized possession, so they could pass safely. He learned of this lion during the journey, where upon he consequently took it upon himself to face this crisis head on. Unlike other men in the caravan who were dumbstruck by the situation, he carried his shot gun, rode his horse and went after the lion. He came back with the lion's head much to everyone's surprise and due gratitude. This earned him the name "Lion of Cyrenaica." An upbringing of courage and upright religiosity had a massive effect on him. His character would not only change the course of his tribe, country and people, but also the world of Muslims in the Post Colonial Era. In his twenties he was known for his maturity beyond his years as well as his wisdom, for he continued to solve tribal disputes. His people listened to him and took his counsel regardless of village or region he found himself in. His manners were known to be great, for he was eloquent, balanced in his speech, and appealing to those who listened. This uniqueness helped him unite the tribes, and later on gather armies to fend off the colonizers. His thirties was marked by the dawn of the Colonial Era as it began to spread its cancer to the rest of the world. At the time when the world was being ravaged by European nations, this man stood firm for Islam and faced colonizers with his valor. He fought fiercely against the French with a group called Banu Sanus, who would later be known as the Sanusies. For a brief moment, they also fought the British, who were marked by greed and attempted to conquer their land. As part of a global feast on the so-called less civilized nations, Italy joined the European nations in causing havoc in the southern part of the hemisphere by colonizing North Africa. It was during this time, this man, in his fifties, gathered his forces in the face of an invasion attack against Libya, his homeland. To pacify his resistance army, the Italians offered him high ranking positions and wealth. In return, they demanded that he surrender and follow their Colonial decree. He responded in a famous quote saying, "I'm not a sweet bite of a meal anyone can swallow. No matter how long they try to change my belief and opinion, Allah is going to let them down." He responded in a famous quote saying, "I'm not a sweet bite of a meal anyone can swallow. No matter how long they try to change my belief and opinion, Allah is going to let them down." The military officer who interrogated him said, "When he came to my office I imagined to see someone like the thousand of murabiteen who I met in the desert wars. His hands were shackeled, he had broken bones caused by fighting, dragging himself barely able to walk. He was a man not like normal men even though the affect that he was apprehended had shown upon him. He stood in my office as we asked him and he answered in a calm clear collective voice. When he gathered to leave, the brightness of his face like a sunshine amazed me and shook my heart. My lips shivered towards the end of the conversation whereby I ordered him back to his cell to stand before a court in the evening." He was a legend who was firm in his religion at a time when the leaders of his country emigrated (as they do today ) to surrender to the Italians. The biggest scholars of his time from the Sanusies, who previously fought with him against the French and the British, did not come to his aid in time. Instead, many of them became loyal to the Italians by giving them Muslim lands in exchange for clemency, montly salaries, and freedom from taxation. Such is true for Muslims today. On the contrary, this man took out his Qur'an, held it, and gave an oath to Allah that he would not stop fighting the occupying oppressors even if it meant fighting them alone until victory had been attained or that he becomes a martyr. In the last twenty years of his life, he led and personally fought in 1000 battles When the Italian general made him a final offer to make him their puppet and be allowed to live like the other leaders of his people, he answered, "I shall not cease to fight against thee and thy people until either you leave my country or I leave my life. And I swear by Him who knows whaht is in men's hearts that if my ands were not bound this very moment, I would fight you with my bare hands, old and broken as I am.." It was then that the Italian general laughed and ordered him to be hung after a frontal saving face act of a mock trial. Even before the court was in session a rope outside the court house hung waiting him. His hanging took place before hundreds of tribes in 1931. With the intent to scare the Muslims, the Italians did not succeed in doing this. The opposite had taken place. His hanging shook the entire Muslim world, and numerous resistances took place specifically in North Africa. May Allah raise his position in paradise. The Italians took pictures of him in shackles, surrounded by smiling Italian generals, and those who expressed happiness for his hanging. They did not realize that it is those very same shackles and rope hanging around his neck in the hands of his enemies fighting for the sake of Allah that would become the envy of every true Muslim. The man, whose mug shot spoke his legacy, is none other than Omar AlMukhtar. His legacy will live until the day of judgement, inshallah. With his blood, he drew the stories of victory, he became a legend of the legends, and a guide for those who wanted to live in honor at a time of humiliation. The surrendered modernists and disbelieving scholars of his time were not imprisoned nor hung. They died a normal death, possibly even in luxury and wealth, under the protection of the occupying Italians. However, they died and their names died with them. Jahannam is the abode of those who ally themselves with the kuffar colonizers over the Muslims. Omar AlMukhtar lived, and fought hard in the days of his life. He was shackled, imprisoned, then hung. But his legacy lives on and paradise, inshallah, is the resort of the martyrs. Omar AlMukhtar was attached to Allah, depending on Him, and accepting that which Allah had written for him. He asked Allah to become a martyr and this what he has attained, inshAllah. @Me, I didn't call you a stoog! I meant the notion of, " occupiers are here because we can't get along" is invoked by every dhabodhilif known in history. Indeed, Somalis need unity and reconcialition. That is not disputed by anyone. I was referring more about the aim of misleading people and trying to demonize the resistance, by implying that they are against peace. When the onyl thing they are against is Ethiopian troops.

Otherwise, it seems like your rationalizing those incidents or at least completely dismissing such allegations as: "smear politics of 2007"

I clealy said these men were relative nobodies and were limited to isolated incidents. However, your friends took millions of dollars from the USA government and started persecuting thousands of innocent men. They started calling themselves: the Anti Terror alliance! This led to these particular men being viewed( by Somalis) as the bringers of justice. It is no coincidence that people such as Ceyrow became mainstream militia leaders when some segments of the Somali public rebelled against the warlords that were funded with American taxpayer's money. It is also no coincidence that the military wing of Alshabaab implemented itself in Muqdisho and many people joined in droves due to the presence and harrasment by Ethiopian forces in Muqdisho. Had it not been for anti terror alliance and the clumsy, reckless behaviour of Meles Zenawi in misleading the US admin: these men would have today been minor figures simply confined to training in the mountains. Today they have a fight to fight. Many Somalis are willing to support them and even give money from Europe to them. Tell me this was the case in 2002, 2003, 2004? Ethiopian occupation is the best thing that happened to Alshabaab! Just read some of the warning that the ICG gave as early as 2005: quote:From a jihadi perspective, Yusuf's rash appeal for foreign troops -- especially from neighbouring Ethiopia - - and the furore it unleashed must have seemed like an answer to their prayers. A prominent Somali Internet columnist warned in an editorial on al-Jazeerah: Fatwas on Jihad would be issued, and streets of Mogadishu would witness bloody clashes between the Somalis and Ethiopian soldiers. Such clashes would also grab the attention of the Muslim world, thus spurring foreign legions of bin Ladens and Zarqawis to find their way to heaven to kill the infidel Abyssinian soldiers in Somalia.13 A young professional explained to Crisis Group: From Ethiopia's perspective it will be a war between Ethiopia and the Islamists [ikhwaan]. But for we Somalis, it is not so simple. I have to fight side by side with anyone who is fighting Ethiopia….People do not want to join the Islamists [wadaado]…but if it comes to that, how can you refuse a coalition with them? It won't matter who chews qaad and who doesn't when the enemy is just over the horizon.16 Others simply feared that a foreign military intervention would propel Islamists into leadership roles. "If there is a war there will be no warlords", an employee of a Western-oriented Somali NGO told Crisis Group. "The religious groups (wadaado) will take the lead".17 Moderate Islamists, meanwhile, feared that intervention could tilt the balance towards the militants: "The jihadis are praying for the Ethiopians to come", explained a member of al-Islax. "They can easily make Somalia like Iraq".1 http://www.globalpolicy.org/empire/terrorwar/analysis/2005/0711somalia.pdf Tell me if those warning haven't become self-fulfilling prophecies?

What's wrong with statement, ya? It is a classic statement made by every stooge( messenger in this case) that has implemented the policies of an occupying entity. It's like when we were told that Iraqis would enter a civil war if the Americans left. Many intelligent people pointed out the country was already in the midst of a civil war and the situation has never been worser . Similarly, messengers of the occupiers argue that Somalia will fall back into anarchy, chaos and famine if Ethio forces withdrew. The fact of the matter is that Somalia is in the midst of the most brutal war experienced over the last 17 years. Could Somalia get any worser with our without Ethiopian forces? The only argument for their stay is that their little messengers will get overwhelmed, humilated and chased all the way to Adiss Ababa with the little dollars they managed to scavenge. This particular gentlemen appears to be playing a dirty script( of course written in Adiss Ababa, or was it Baidoa?). His aim is to portray the resistance groups as anti peace and totally against reconcialition.Because they have demanded that all foreign forces withdrew and will never put down their guns until they do so. Anything short of that or somewhere in the middle is clearly unacceptable to them. This man clearly knows he doesn't have the capacity or power to tell Ethiopian to leave or do otherwise. However, he constantly regurgitates to the media, " Ethiopians will leave in 24 hourse if only.....". Only a fool will swallow such arguments!

Some SOmalis are clearly following the methodolgy of Abu Mussab Al Zarqawi. These forces were capable of isolated incidents such as digging up graves and the attrocious killing of aid workers in Somaliland. What has propelled these men to fame and influence is simply the SOmalis that became mecenaries for Americans and Ethiopian war on terror policy. The rise of Alshabab/ Ceyrow has a direct correlation with the founding of the Anti Terror Alliance and the more importantly the intervention of Ethio forces. Before that these were relative nobodies......... Those that condemn such activities and cry terrorism are still calling for the same old solutions and recipe to the problem: give us more guns uncle sam and general Gabre. Perhaps they don't realise this is what is causing such ideologies to occur and flourish in the first place.

Ah, rape by Woyanes which was documented by even Western aid agencies and hundredsof thousands of Somali witnesses across Somali territories is labelled: " smear politics of 2007"
