Walee this is interesting. Western companies in general avoid investing or dealing in any way with Somalia. Dude even moved to Dubai for this, there is no turning back ma garatay. That's a wild sacrifice. So there is some lightpoints for Somalia in this deal. If this company is busy with activities that require good logistics, security and sofort. Than other companies will follow suit ma garatay. But these local Somali authorities like Puntland need to become more mature (democratic/transparent) and really enforce the rule of law otherwise hell will break loose. The local clan should be asked for permission, because simply this local authority is build on that principle: tribalism. It was emailed to me by the editor. I don't know wether it was positive or negative towards Somaliland, but certainly not negative. All I know and many people agree with me that this issue was the worst ever published by Pace Magazine. Pace can do better than this. It was interesting and insightful to see and read about Somaliland, but come on now. What's up with the boring articles about land issues, government television or port mismanagement. Where are the (life)stories, poems, jokes and interviews that we used to read? Pace's charm is totally absent in this issue. Especially compared to the 9th issue that was dedicated to the Tsunami. That one was a lot better and memorable. So many people (girls) fell in love with the cover image of the 9th. The question you asked also reflects that Pace is on the wrong track. There shouldn't even be a discussion wether or not Somaliland is portrayed negatively or positively in this mag. This issue was dedicated to Somaliland: Somali youth (and some not so youthful) from that area presented Somaliland to us and what to think of it after that is up to the readers. Pace has a promising future, so let it get rid of the politics and focus on more social/cultural topics. We don't even care about politics. Pace has to stick with what it started out in 2003 which was to inform young Somalis about their culture, and get them interested in what goes on within the Somali community in the Diaspora. I for one look forward to read Pace's next issue in the summer.

I am going bag packing myself this summer inshallaah. I am planning of visiting all the attractions during the 2001 war of Afghanistan. For sure I know it won't be easy bag packing in Afghanistan but surely it will be a one time experience to charish. I am hoping to visit places like Mazar-i-Shareef, Kandahar (Qandahaar), Kabul and Mosul(I think this place in Iran but not to sure). I heard eastern Afghanistan is too dangerous to visit right now but I am going anyway. Maybe I'll catch up with some friends. But does it really matter? And is it fair to these people to single them out? I donated to Hiran University and East Africa University in their endeavours to collect money from diaspora communities. It's a positive development at the end of the day and we should be happy that our country Somalia is being built by the people itself. I hate it when they stalk you. Sometimes they don't leave you alone. Calling you while you're asleep, jumping on you when you come online. But the worst thing is that everything you tell them, their girlfriends know the next day. That pisses me off. You cannot trust her at all. If she has to choose who dies: you or one of her girlfriends. Start preparing your funeral. She won't even hesitate. I don't like how they overreact sometimes too.
