It is claimed by the experts in the field that the research on stem cells has great potential to relieve human disease and suffering. If this is the case then it is not only allowed but it is obligatory (fard kifayah) to pursue this research. I always thought it was haram to conduct stem cell research :confused:

If you happen to know people in that kind of situation living near you...why dont you let them tag along with you while you go about your daily activities? Shopping (Food, clothes, etc.), banking, going to the masjid, offer them help whenever they need. Give them your number so they will be able to contanct you during emergencies or when they want anything clarified or even explained. Help them look for jobs...introduce them to your circle of family, friends and acquaintances (someone might be ablet to help them..even if you can not). Not only will you be able to help a fellow muslim in need ...but imagine the ajar you will get. The time you spend infront of the tv or computer or just plain wasting...why not just 30 mins of your time...helping them get around the new system and teaching them the basic skills?

Nice topic FF. Walahi I had those questions (and some others) too when I was young and I was embarassed about asking them. And as I got older I thought about asking the Imam at our local Masjid...he had a question and answer session on fridays after the maqrib prayer. But I was too shy---the thought of asking a sensitive question in front of a room full of sisters intimidated me so I never did. Like yourself...I mostly read, visited islamic websites (Ex. Ask a Scholar) or just asked my friends and hoped that they knew. I dont know. Some people just believe its CEEB to ask these type of questions. They question your faith or intention---not realizing that you honesty do not know the answer. It is sad...and it happens alot. Islam is not programmed into our genes from birth...Its a life-long learning process ..we learn..practice...and learn some more in an unending cycle. Very true. Well put.
