  5. pretty sweety girl there is no need to insult someone if they ask a question after all if you dont ask questions youll never know what you were seeking theres a quote "its better to ask a question and feel 5 minutes of stupidity than a lifetime of ignorance" and besides all she wanted to know was why is a gender implied to Allah (swt)and buubto masha allah told us why signing out

  8. I realize I have posted here before and I siad do what you want to do after all it is YOUR life but if you want to be a model so badly ypu should go to the model search america open call ( the free interview) and if your a potential model they will make you stay and if your not they will dismiss you, then after two monthes they have a modelling convention where all the agencies all over the world and casting producers and directors go under one roof. The good thing about it is if you have potetial you can be discoverd by the biggest agenices and its only a weekend so if you want to be a model badly enough do that and stop posting of how you want to be a model in other words stop looking for opinions its your choice after all
  9. Actaully somalis stare at me too but then they ask me if Im somali or ethiopian I dont know but they say something about me looks ethiopian (I find that funny) they are obviously staring because they are trying to determine where Im from. So I dont take it to heart.....after all whites and afro north americans do the same thing
  10. Thanx for reminding me of that article xafsa I read it 2 years ago and wasn't surprised to find another article (writen by a white woman) that was making fun of it and trivializing what the sister in the article wrote...but over that span of two years I forgot about it....and now Im reminded

  13. Ms Paradise abaayo, no matter where you grew up and whatever citizenship you have your roots are somali thus making you a somali. Its plain and simple really, and I don't mean to come off as harsh just trying to ring a bell of realization. I leave you with your thoughts

  18. I know this is a bit off topic but this reminds me of one of my favourite Dr. Seus's book its called all the places you will go it talks about life journies in a cute rhyming way well there is a part in the journy of life in the book called "the waiting place" some people wait for minutes, hour, days or years and some never leave (its a place of waiting where you do absolutely nothinhg and get frustrated with yourself for not getting out of there) well the point of me talking about Dr.Seus and his book is it sounds like your in "the waiting place" and the inner voice you described could be your guiding light out. By the way I recommend that book even though its juvenile its very factual
  19. Thunder I could'nt agree more with you... and yes the term moderate muslim was devised to separate from the muslim unity that we have and cut each others off its obviously a western invention
  20. make decisions for myself of course Hawaii with your parents or jamaica with your friends? paris or rome? ice skating or rollar blading? would you rather be shot or stabbed? choclate chip cookies or oreos? as you can all see ever once in a while I go crazy and ask more than one question but you all have to bear with me
  21. I know this might sound strange to some but I read the book and liked it and also wasn't offended by anything in the book. Nobody can disagree that the sister has been through a lot of struggles in her life. We also have to realize that their are millions of people out there that go from rags to riches some of them become better people because they think back on their own struggles and try to help others or do something good for society. However there are also people that are in the same rags to riches position that their struggles have made them bitter to what they struggled with in Waris 's case her contininet (she didn't have a single goood thing to say about the whole continet but more importantly her country.)So I don't hate her or condemn here for saying whatever she said in her book, because the parts that were fictionalized were done so that her book can sell more copies. I don't think we should say people like her are a menace and I think she needs guidance I think all people like her need guidance and when she siad somalia is a backwards country she was speaking of her own personal experience with somalia she was speaking as someone who went from struggles and hardships to glitz and glamour and of course when she had so little she is going to make her new life as a model look good to her by rationalizing with her self in saying "I came from a backwards country and now Im the picture of sophistication". Anywas that my 2 cents....
