These nicknames are funny but they’re not offensive. I always struggle when I meet someone that has the nickname of “cawar”, “coryaan”, “langare”,etc.. The best one I’ve seen was some guy that has the nickname Abdi oyaaayi (crying Abdi). He had one of those classic “victim” faces.

Ngonge,So if i dislike the saudis purely for economic reasons, then am i an ARAB hater? Lakkad, you’re an Arab hater, man. I’ve got your written and signed affidavit to that effect right here. But seriously, it’s not the hate itself I was pointing out, it was the generalisation; you can’t hate Abdullah who lives in downtown Jeddah for the conduct of his government. Saudi Arabia is not a democratic country and the actions of its rulers do not always reflect the beliefs of its people. Besides, you can’t hate on “economic reasons”, man! It’s just not possible. You can be envious, irritated or outright jealous. But hate? In my experience, most Arabs regard Somalis as Arabs too (this is their opinion not mine). The actions of their governments are not limited to Somalis alone though. They do it to all non-Saudis, non-Kuwaitis, non-whatever (depending on which Arab country you’re in). Look at the Palestinians for example; most of them have been refugees in Arab countries since 1948! The Arab governments opposed and still oppose the Zionist occupiers. Rightly so, but, do they give any preference to their Palestinian brothers and sisters? Do they make them feel at home? Remember these are refugees who (for some) lived in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE or Iraq since they’ve been driven out from their homes. After living in the same place for over thirty years, you would expect to have some basic rights, wouldn’t you? What do the Arab governments do? They still treat them as foreigners and all the immigration laws that apply to foreigners still apply to them! Their argument is that if they allow the Palestinians to claim citizenship then the Israelis would win. They want them to stay in a state of limbo to show the world that these guys still exist and want their lands back. Good idea, right? But, why do they have to treat them in that way? The majority of Arab population would not mind if these Palestinians were given similar rights as them (in fact they’ll encourage it). Their normal common sense would also tell them to buy Somali livestock instead of Western ones. But, their governments are the ones who call the shots. So, why blame Fircoon’s people for what Fircoon did/does?

I’d rather read your mad ramblings than sit here and listen to some gaal telling me about the latest house he bought or the romantic weekend to Venice he’s planning to take his girlfriend on, bro. I’m here to pass the time at work and bask in your great wisdom, guru. Ma arkino?

Indeed it is incredibly sad and disheartening that aside from everything else, you don't see the point in condemning the actions of these invaders yet conversely are in agreement with expressing such sentiments when the oh so holy blood of a kafir is spilt. Quiet often people state the obvious, I'm sure many of us are doing it here- we all know it is disgusting, but alas we feel this great sense of urgency to say it anyway. It's about time brother that you painted with the same stroke with every similar point. I don’t see the point in condemning the actions of these invaders in this THREAD. Not in other threads. I’m following the line the original poster has set when he started this thread. He asked if this was Islamicly correct. Most of the guys who replied, didn’t even say, “sorry brother, we don’t know, you better ask some scholars, etc”, they all jumped up with the replies of “ why do you cry for a kafir?” or “why do you care?”. None of these answered the question, did they? It was a simple straightforward question and, yes there was NO point in stating the obvious and talking about Iraqis being killed by Americans and all the conspiracy theories (that was not the purpose of the thread). “What's even weaker is to deliberately misrepresent someone's words. I don't believe that I attacked our brother's faith, rather I questioned his reaction. Don't try to stir the pot akhi, i would never participate in the wicked craft of character assassination, for Lakkad is my brother and thus deserves my respect. If however, it came out sounding otherwise (considering I was just arguing my point of view), then inshallah he will know it was not my intention.” Deliberately? Hey, I’m not here to stir trouble and get into pointless online fights, but that’s how it sounded to me. Plus, I wasn’t talking about Lakkad alone as my quote below demonstrates. “Had he expressed his disgust and anger at the treatment of Iraqis, he would be stating the OBVIOUS. I don’t see the point of that! Or are we to type thousands upon thousands of words of disgust and absolute anger to prove to people on here that we care for our Iraqi brothers and condemn the American occupation? I frankly find that line of argument very offensive.” Like I said earlier, as I understood it, the point of this thread was to find out what people thought of that beheading from an Islamic point of view. It did not talk about Iraqi deaths, torture or humiliation. You guys turned it into an Us & Them discussion when really there is no Us & Them in here (seeing that we’re all Muslims, I hope). That’s what I found offensive about your replies (not you alone Rahiima, so don’t think I’m picking on you, sister). If I misunderstood you then I apologise. No hard feelings.

As part of his rehabilitation program, RudeBoy Abdi was sent back to Somali to reacquaint himself with his roots and culture. He had to attend the 135 annual Geeljire conference. The star speaker was the famously renowned Dr Farax Geel-Yaqaan. RudeBoy Abdi had to sit still and take notes on Dr Farax’s revolutionary new methods of milking camels. That evening, when RudeBoy was back in his mentor and appointed social worker’s house (one Xaaji Abukur-Dhaqan-Yaqaan), he had to reread his notes to the Xaaji. He cleared his throat, wiped his brow and proceeded to read the following: “ markad geelka maalayso, yeah. Waxad ku bilaabaysa baaaldi, yeah. You put da baaaldi under da geel, you get me? Den you sit on da gumber under da geel and make sure you sing a nice tune to soothe da geel, na’mean? (Notin too strong, somethin’ like tupac’s Dear Moma) When you touch da geel’s udders, blud, you have to treat dem like delicate turntables, you get me? Don’t squeeze too hard blud or you’ll upset da geel and it’ll refuse to let you have its caano, yeah? Listen adeer, yeah, you’re too old and I have maximum respc’ for you, you get me. Aderwise, I would have told you an easy and better way to view doos udders and milk dem, na’mean? * wink wink *. Still, dat’s a rudeboy style and I don’t function like dat when I’s round old man dem. Amyway, why you lookin’ at me like I stole your pension book, blud? Listen, adeer, listen, yeah..I now know how to milk dem geels, so don’t watch me aight, blud!” In tomorrow’s episode, RudeBoy learns how to slaughter a goat... Do I sound bored at all? Somebody Dirbaaaxo me, blud.

Wouldn’t switching the lights off and sticking your face to the mirror be a better and conclusive way of finding out if it were real or two-way? Of course, you can always smash the damn thing and claim it was an accident.

Absolute classic. I love your work, man. Keep it up. Xalimo and Faiza giggle at the assignments and how they wont ever hand it in, Xalimo is joking, but Faiza is in earnest, she is betrothed to a man who pops different color pills to keep him self from seeing afrits and other assorted genii wink at him, he is the owner of the aforementioned ring so please ignore the pills part, every one else does. Any more lines like this one and I think I’ll end up getting the sack from laughing too much.

A duck walks into a pub and heads straight for the bar. He asks the barman, "Have you got any bread?" "No sorry, we don't sell bread." "Have you got any bread?" "No, I just told you, we don't have any bread." "Aw right then. What about bread? Do you have any bread?" "Look you ****** little duck, I don't have any bread! And if you ask me for it one more time, I'm going to nail your beak to this bar!" The duck pauses to think. "Have you got any nails?" "No." "Have you got any bread?"

What is qurbash? I think it's some sort of stick to beat people up with. I might be wrong about it being a stick it might be a belt or even a dacas for all I know. Anyway, you get the jest(or rather gist) of it by now I hope.

Hello Jumatatu, Hope you're having a nice day, man. I see your point and agree with it. There is a possibility that the guy was a CIA agent, there is also a possibility that those who beheaded him were impostors who are not Muslim. But, that’s an argument for another thread. This one, was started by someone who asked if these acts were Islamic. What he got as a reply (from most people) is that the act was justifiable because of past crimes by the Americans, or that because this guy was American it makes him a legitimate target (therefore implying that it’s ok from an Islamic point of view to kill him). Others added the “conspiracy theory” issue as an after thought. I’m not discounting any of these theories, however looking at things as they stand, with the current explanation and evidence, I and various others are asking if this act was Islamic. If others want to discuss things from a political point of view, I’m more than happy to go along with that. All we need is a bit of clarity when making our points so as we don’t’ mistake them for apathy, anger or pure drivel.

SHOULD YOUNG GIRLS STICK WITH MEN THAT ARE THEIR AGE OR DATE OLDER MEN
NGONGE replied to lovelyLeyla21's topic in General
NGONE The leadership issue come with role dynamics. It’s a matter of personality rather than age. A n*acas odey, is still a n*acas Heh. I totally agree. But, would you call an odey “nácas”? For shame, for shame  Still, it was a nice image, don’t you agree? -
Heh. I think there is no point in trying to debate this case, man. Well, at least not until people start to calm down and discuss things rationally. So far, it’s the same old argument of justifying all this by referring to the crimes the Americans committed and have been committing for years. The question still remains unanswered, is it “In the name of Islam?”

SHOULD YOUNG GIRLS STICK WITH MEN THAT ARE THEIR AGE OR DATE OLDER MEN
NGONGE replied to lovelyLeyla21's topic in General
Jeez you're old fashioned brother not to mentioned incredibly wrong. Let me put it this way, if you have the charm and what it takes then she won't be set in her ways, it just takes skill. Maybe you just don't have it,lool, The “charm” and “what it takes” have always been there but as I’m on the other side now, I can safely say that it was all fantasy and pointless posturing. Of course I’m old fashioned but I’m also practical. All of this is hypothetical by the way; there are lots of other variables to consider when choosing a partner in life (most times there are none, it’s just calaf). Whoever started this topic, focused their attention on one tiny area of male/female relationships. I stand by my earlier comments regarding the advantages of marrying a woman younger than you. The absurd idea of equality - and I’m not talking about the day-to-day things here – is just a dream. Whenever there is a group of people stuck together in one place, there always emerges a leader. Usually, that leader is someone the rest look up to and respect; it’s human nature. It’s also human nature to want the best for yourself (and that includes not being led when you yourself are capable of leading). So, a woman and a man who are perfectly equal in every aspect of their life and personality are bound to clash in their haste to assume leadership. If she’s your age, has the same level of education as you and thinks in exactly the same way as you do, you’ll want to lead her (or, as is the case with most women, she’ll want to lead you – I realise I’m being borderline sexist here..erm, sue me, darling). Most people in such cases will refuse to be openly “led”; they’ll play games, create fights, argue and plot to defy their “leader”. Now, if a woman marries a guy younger than her, or a man marries a woman younger than him, they’ll have the advantage over that person (in most cases) and the leadership bit will fall into their lap effortlessly. If your “toy boy” is immature you can mother him and if you’re “baby girl” is silly and stubborn you can always blame it on her young age, ruffle her hair and humour her. The ship will sail on peacefully and you’ll stay as Captain. I repeat, marry them young or you might as well start taking swimming lessons. -
I’m a recent convert to Qaraami music but these days that’s all I listen to. My favourite song is the one that kushin sings “eiyado dhoob dhix jeefta dhaaawanaysa obaxa”(heh, if you think my writing in Somali looks bad, be glad you’re not hear to hear me hum the song to myself). Maxamed Mooge with his “dadka ha esko wayniin” Axmed Gacayte (with the song below). http://www.sanaag.net/suugaan/heeso/1030/inaanweli.ram And this song, in the website someone else sang it but I thought it was a xodaydi song (spelling?) http://www.ucidparty.com/Weli%20waa%20caruuroo.rm As for Qarami, I thought it’s to do with sad love songs.

I’m really amazed and shocked at the ability of some people to debate and discuss matters on this forum! “Firstly, don't say this guy was innocent, we don't know who he was and what he was doing there. Same as the case of the four "security guards" in Fallujah.” Are we really going to argue over the basics here? INNOCENT! until proven guilty, my friend! Suspicion alone is not enough here; you need to provide evidence of his guilt. “Lakkad and crew, I suggest that all your sympathy be given to the Muslims, there just isn't enough to go around. Walaahi I'm so sick to death and tired of Muslims making such a bid deal out of such incidences when it happens all the time-the only difference is this time it wasn't a Muslim. Why don't you become just as outraged when your brothers, sisters, daughters, sons, mothers and fathers of Iraq, Palestine, Chechniya, Kashmir, China, India, and even closer to home Western Somalia are been slaughtered every single day? Is there blood not worthy of such outrage and disgust?” Spare us the emotion, sister. Argue on the points on hand, right or wrong? To accuse the original poster of having less sympathy for his fellow Muslims because he dared to question the actions of the brutal murderers and their relation to ISLAM is WEAK. Come up with a better argument and stop trying to claim the moral high ground with your “ why didn’t you shed a tear for Iraq rhetoric”. Had he expressed his disgust and anger at the treatment of Iraqis, he would be stating the OBVIOUS. I don’t see the point of that! Or are we to type thousands upon thousands of words of disgust and absolute anger to prove to people on here that we care for our Iraqi brothers and condemn the American occupation? I frankly find that line of argument very offensive. Now, lets all take a deep breath; leave the anger out of this for a minute and ANSWER Lakkad’s question. Is the killing of innocents allowed and encouraged in Islam? Can any of you weeping and wailing guys answer this without accusing anyone of being less of a Muslim than you, and without resorting to conspiracy theories?

I know that. But if I went all the way there it would be silly to turn around and leave. I was just wondering if there was a bank account or a website that deals with the event (if there isn’t, I’ll be mildly surprised). Anyway, we’ll see. if you're going, have yourself a very nice evening.

Lol@Mohram..it was a virtual hug, dear. Anyway, you know I like my '3obaar too much to give up on the Arabic speakers. I still get together with the old clique from time to time though.

They’re just steering the discussion back to its original path, Phil. It seems they don’t have the same fascination and respect for ants that you and I have. Lets educate them, dear. First lesson, ants are not fat, they’re just big bellied.

Talk about a delayed reaction, man!

Is there anyway of buying the tickets without having to attend no parties? I’m allergic to Somali parties.

what has gotten into tuujiye's pants and died? It was a homeless Ant that was attracted by the smoothness of those brand name pants and the warmth of the person wearing them. It lived happily in there for years. Then one sad day, right out of the blue, “a nitrogen bomb” exploded and killed the Ant. Anyway, what’s all of that got to do with the price of fish, dear?

In that case, keep it as politics, Mermbo. If you hadn’t noticed, there are millions of Iraqis who are in support of this occupation. Would you kill them too? Or is it American civilians that qualify for the killing? Since we are, as one of the sisters implies above, armchair generals, we do have the benefit of being detached from the whole situation. We can sit back and use our logic and common sense to sift through this mess and try to make sense of it all! Why does it have to be one side or the other? Why does not have to be RIGHT and WRONG? The argument of “desperate times call for desperate measures” is a political argument not a religious one. You’ve got to draw a line between the two and decide which one you’re going to follow. You can’t use extracts and bits from the religion to prove your political ends (that’s what got us there in the first place). As for fighting the enemy, Al Sader’s militia are fighting them, the Fullujah guys are fighting them and countless others are fighting them on a daily bases. When you have over 160,000 American (and coalition) soldiers who are ready to fight you and are legitimate targets, why go for the cowardly style of killing INNOCENT (until proven guilty) people? Someone was saying we need to get our priorities right, this is one of our main priorities; OUR RELIGION and the way some mad elements are trying to distort it and twist it to comply with their needs. It’s not the fact that some American guy was killed that worries me here (thousands of Muslims deaths hurt me more than that); it’s the fact that some people condone it and all the implications that come with it. It’s the fact that some thing it’s religiously correct to commit such acts. It’s the fact that we let our emotions rule our heads.
-
I agree with the original poster (LAKKAD), but then he took his argument into a blind alley with all that stuff about “ why do they invoke the name of god” stuff! Everyone thinks that god is on their side, man (check out the poem I posted on the poetry forum). However, we as Muslims have to stick to the rules and morals that we believe in. Anger and emotion shouldn’t dictate and control our lives. In the case of the guy who got beheaded, it was the WRONG thing to do. What the Americans (and all their allies) are doing to other Muslims is no excuse. The principle of an eye for an eye is not helpful or beneficial to anyone here. Some people argue that his presence in Iraq means that he’s a legitimate target! Why so? Was he holding a gun and fighting the Iraqis? Was he a soldier? I understand people’s anger and frustration at the weakness of the Muslim world but that does not mean you’ve got to cheer every extremist who decides to interpret and twist the religion to quench his or her anger. Not killing civilians is not a western invention; it’s an Islamic one. If they killed civilians then that’s down to their lower principles, values and morals. We do not have to follow suit and use the tired and very childish excuse of “ they’ve done it to us, so we are justified in doing the same thing to them”. Islam today is in crisis, we have all those pro government scholars who come up with fatwa’s that appease their presidents, we have all those amateur scholars that make up their own rules and call every little atrocity they commit a “Jihad”, worst still, we have the “moderate”, western loving scholars! However, there are things that don’t require a scholar to issue a fatwa on. There are things that better scholars than the ones we have today have already commented on; there are things that the Quran and Sunnah tell us. Little upstarts in the caves of Afghanistan or the darker corners of the Horn of Africa cannot change these things now because they’re angry and frustrated with the state of the world. So, please, control your anger and engage your brains. Wrong is Wrong . Now, if we’re looking at it from a political point of view, things will look totally different. That guy dying might work out to the advantage of the Iraqis in the short term. It might hasten the withdrawal of the occupiers. Lets just hope these guys have some sort of plan for Iraq after the occupation leaves, and are not lashing out with anger without having any plans for the future of that place!

I feel I have to post this one too. It fits nicely with the state of the world today. Everyone claims that GOD is on their side! Oh my name it is nothin' My age it means less The country I come from Is called the Midwest I's taught and brought up there The laws to abide And that land that I live in Has God on its side. Oh the history books tell it They tell it so well The cavalries charged The Indians fell The cavalries charged The Indians died Oh the country was young With God on its side. Oh the Spanish-American War had its day And the Civil War too Was soon laid away And the names of the heroes I's made to memorize With guns in their hands And God on their side. Oh the First World War, boys It closed out its fate The reason for fighting I never got straight But I learned to accept it Accept it with pride For you don't count the dead When God's on your side. When the Second World War Came to an end We forgave the Germans And we were friends Though they murdered six million In the ovens they fried The Germans now too Have God on their side. I've learned to hate Russians All through my whole life If another war starts It's them we must fight To hate them and fear them To run and to hide And accept it all bravely With God on my side. But now we got weapons Of the chemical dust If fire them we're forced to Then fire them we must One push of the button And a shot the world wide And you never ask questions When God's on your side. In a many dark hour I've been thinkin' about this That Jesus Christ Was betrayed by a kiss But I can't think for you You'll have to decide Whether Judas Iscariot Had God on his side. So now as I'm leavin' I'm weary as Hell The confusion I'm feelin' Ain't no tongue can tell The words fill my head And fall to the floor If God's on our side He'll stop the next war. This is a song by Bob Dylan.
