Truth Seeker, what an apt name you’ve chosen, saaxib. We’re all truth seekers and maybe in this occasion you can be of help to us; what is the objective of Hezb et-Tharir (apart from establishing a Khilafa)? I looked at their website and I really can’t see any message there that is different to what millions of other Muslims say and have been saying for years. The website is all nice and concise but whenever I got accosted by HT activists I’m given a different message to those found in the website. Their aggressive style of breaching and total insistence that they’re in the right at all times is off-putting. Treat this as a party political broadcast and sell this “party” to us, brother.

^^^ Highest taxes and most expensive too. England are not likely to get that far in this tournament. Well, not unless the end up playing the Greeks in the second round and the Swedes in the one after that. Their next game will not be easy either.

I love to hear these sorts of stories. The ingenuity is breathtaking. Of course they’re all false and have lots of inconsistencies, but that’s what makes them great. Imagine a 39-year-old father of three being able to “oblige” three women at will! Now, imagine a 39-year-old father of three being forced “oblige” three women at will! They must have had a gun on one hand and Viagra tablets on the other. Heh.

Today, Rudeboy is standing with his boys outside the Maqaaxi and talking about the events of the previous day. Stockholm is laughing and teasing him about his aborted marriage attempt. The other two boys are joining in with the teasing. In addition to the gentle teasing, the boys are also displaying their respect and complete pride in their friend who almost became a man yesterday. Stockholm says: I’s know you’s not happy about what happened, blud but I’s glad you’s didn’t get married, ya get me? Rudeboy replies, I’s glad I’s didn’t get married or nothing too, blud. You know I’s was ready to marry dat girl, yeah, you know I’s was not playing, blud. But, when my hoyo and my sister spoke to me on da phone and told me all about dat girl, I’s was shocked, blud. SHOCKED. Now I’s got nuff respect for my sister, blud. If she didn’t tell me dat Farax used to be in love wid my enemy I’s probably would have married her and been played, blud! Stuff dat, blud, I’s a thug and I’s not gonna take nobody’s ex-girlfriend as my wife, ya get me? Yeah she’s nice and all dat but marriage is a serious business, ya get me? I’s woulda haved to listen to her, respect her and showed her to everybody and told dem dat she is my WIFE, blud! Dis girl is axmed bling’s cousin and everybody but me knew she was seeing him, blud. If she was true or nice like she acts, why didn’t she tell me, blud? You know why she didn’t? she’s a playa, blud, a PLAYA! But who she tryin to play? A thug like me? She must be jokin, blud. I tell you blud, she don know who she messing wid, I’ll play her too, blud, I’ll play her too. It will be like dey say “wham bam tank you blud”. I’s gonna make her wish dat she never played me yeah, I’s gonna act all nice and sweet and tell her dat I loves her more dan I loves anybody, blud. I’s gonna make her relax and when I’s done my ting, I’s gonna drop it on her like a jaat sack, blud. Boom! I’s gonna tell her it’s ova, blud, OVAA! My hoyo told me to stop being a thug and go to da Masajid, blud. I’s didn’t wanna listen at first but now I knows dat if I’s wants to marry a good Somalian girl den I’s will have to go to da Masajid and be a good Wadaad, blud. I’s planning to talk to da Wadaads in da Masaajid and aks dem if it’s ok to be a Wadaad and a thug at da same time though. I’s sure dey will say it’s ok yeah, because once you is a thug den you is a thug for life, ya get me? Stockholm asks him “ will you wear a Comaamad, blud?” Rudeboy replies “ yeah blud, I’s gonna wear a Fubu Comaamad, ya get me?”.

Tricky topic this! Philosophising about such things is ok to a point, but then we start running the risk of driving our arguments and ourselves into all sorts of blind alleys. I’m more than happy to take a leap of faith and trust my “instincts”(not the exact translation of the word “Fetra” I know but it’ll have to do I suppose). Now, I think it’s time I retreat to the comfort of the trivial threads while keeping an eye on the more informed brother’s and sister’s contributions to this one.

Looks like I got me a few more points last night. Ronaldo of Portugal got me five points and Morientes of Spain scored and got me eight. Slowly but surely my team is leaving you all in it’s wake. Heh.

Isn’t a tad late and counter productive to protest now? Protest for protest’s sake is never enough. Say the demands of Hezb ut-Tahrir are met and the Western governments stopped interfering in Iraq, say they pull their troops out, erm, what next? We might disagree with this war, we might abhor the fact that these gaalo are occupying Muslim lands and humiliating our brothers and sisters, but at this precise moment in time we really have no choice other than to hold back and wait. All the other alternatives will have catastrophic results.

^^^ I’m sure the sister can speak for herself so I’m not here to save any damsel in distress, bro. However, your question in reply to her comment makes the whole thing seem slightly uneven, saaxib. My personal assumption (I must be getting some of these assumptions from somewhere – could I have been paying attention in my Deen classes without knowing?) is that Allah’s (swt) laws take precedence over the laws of men. Therefore, her point makes sense I suppose. PS I’m talking about your question above in the context it was posted in. Not her reply to an earlier discussion regarding something else. PPS I’ve taken to assume things that I know are true because unlike many of our revered brothers and sisters here who seem to have the ability to recall an Aaayah or Soorah effortlessly, I suspect I might be suffering from the early signs of senile dementia (that’s my excuse anyway).

Just as I was about to comment on this topic, eh? I just finished reading this whole thread, like reading a short story it was. I get the impression different people interpret the word LOVE in different ways. Some put the emphasis on the love of the creator, others think of the love between a husband and wife (or courting couples), while a third group look at it as anything that provides them with enjoyment which they would “love” to repeat (easy way out here, since this definition seems to encompass most things). I suppose it depends on what stage in their lives each group is. I’ll stick with the second definition for a minute, the love of a partner/husband/wife. The idea of having a soul mate, your other half, the permanent object of all your desires! The Indian movie scenario, the skipping heartbeats and the sweeping of the feet! I’m sure by now you’ve realised that I’m ridiculing the whole concept, if you haven’t, erm, well I am. Those who support the existence of this notion (the permanent type of course – fleeting LOVE is not worth talking about here, it’ll probably be gone before I’ve finished typing this piece) will argue that you need to experience it before you can make a judgment. They’ll bring to the fore the stories of Qays, Leila, Cantar, Cabla, Celmi and Hodon! When asked what’s the natural conclusion of this “love” many will understandably say marriage. Some will even consider it an imprudent question. I’m yet to see evidence of such love that ended up in marriage. The heroes and heroines of this “religion” have all died without fulfilling their mission (if a mission it was). In my mind’s eye, I always wonder what their lives would have been like had they got married and lived “happily” ever after? Would they still have that urgent, steamy, unstoppable need to love and be loved or would they become like any normal couple? Would they argue over little things, fall out, wish that they’ve never gotten married and then calm down and rebuke themselves for daring to have those wicked thoughts. Would the cultural aspects governing the relationships between husbands and wives break up their love or enhance it? If man is a social animal it must also follow that man needs to belong! People express feelings of pride in their family’s’, children, possessions and even the exact geographical position they were born in! Humans are needy creatures and they “love” nothing better than to fulfil that need by falling in love, getting married and having children. It’s true, LOVE, does make the world go round but rather than being the love of others it’s really the love of oneself that keeps us going and inventing all these different concepts. This was my belatedly late contribution to this discussion, it’s nothing more than my usual stream of consciences and I hope that my cynical take on this idea of love isn’t going to stop any of you from loving yourselves. Heh.

She lost the case. I’ve got to admit though, having seen a photo of the girl in her “jilbaab” I really don’t see what the fuss is all about. It seems that the Islamic uniform the school was providing was nothing more than the Asian Shalwar Kameez (sp?), more of a cultural apparel than an Islamic one. I’m not sure what the positives of this case are! She lost, she was asked to attend other schools that allow Muslim girls to wear the Jilbaab and most importantly, she set a precedent. The next time a parent, school governor or Head Master objects to a Muslims girl’s attire they’ll quote this ruling and the game will be up. May Allah (swt) ease things up for all of us.

I did not cheat, man. I repeat, I did not cheat.

^^^^ Ooooh. As Qaaxooti Kombuter Heshay would say, “SEGSI”! PS I hear Qaaxooti Kombuter Heshay was a nurse in Abu Dhabi for five full years, so I trust that the word segsi has been disinfected in advance and doesn’t have the same gaalo meaning. Ok, I concede on the England supporters point.

I got my points from the paper, man. Where are the points awarded in your website? Here is a game to play when bored. Free Kicks

^^^^I’ll forgive you for stating the obvious just because of that girl in your signature. I’m sure I saw her hands move.

To be fair to the English they’re really not the only nation to do that. Every country in the world exaggerates when it’s pitted against other nations. One French newspaper had the headline title “ God Save Zidane” on its front page after they’ve won. The English would have done something similar. The Americans would have declared a national holiday. The Somalis would have gone on and on and on about their invincibility. In fact, they already do and we’re not even in any sort of competition.

I did a quick search on my player’s results and found out that only three of my team were in losing sides. One of them (Ronaldo) even scored! The rest of my players were either in winning teams or playing in teams that drew. Only the keeper didn’t play yet. But with the power of Nedved and Baros upfront for the Czechs I don’t think I’ll worry myself about him conceding. You guys must be quacking in your boots, no wonder you started accusing me of cheating. Heh. My team Cech Czech Republic Goalkeeper (0) Did not play (yet) Silvestre France Defender £5.0m (7) Mellberg Sweden Defender £4.0m (7) R Kovac Croatia Defender £3.5m (6) Bridge England Defender £4.0m (0) Did not play Gravesen Denmark Midfielder £3.0m (0) Did not play Luis Figo Portugal Midfielder £6.5m (5) Ronaldo Portugal Midfielder £5.0m (6) Zidane France Midfielder £6.5m (7) The ****** SUN are wrong! Allback Sweden Striker £3.5m (5) Morientes Spain Striker (5) Total points so far = 48 Pack your bags baby, you’re going home..

I did not cheat, man. This was my original team and I didn't change it. Are you guys starting to feel the heat?

^^^ I was about to comment on that but then I noticed that the girl in your signature seems to be beckoning me in. Bila adab fooq al bila adab.

Zidane is a great player but I don’t think this game is one where his greatness is to be celebrated. He was competent not breathtaking. The English chose the wrong tactics (even though they almost worked). France didn’t really win that game England lost it. Even in his best games he still did not reach the heights of one Diego Armando Maradona Watch his goals and revise your statement. Often, as we all know His feet left the ground But when he was down to earth Words couldn't be found to describe how he gave birth to miracles on a footballground There is no one, like Diego From the website below – Watch some of his greatest goals here too. THE MASTER
