Heh. The Sunnis are throwing thier bakoorado in the air and thier comaamado on the floor with anger. While the Shicas are beating thier chests with furstration! You don't need to go over the top with your reactions people. At no point did the admin of this site say that he/she is banning the Shica guys from carrying on with this "debate". He/she spoke about one issue and one person only. I'm sure if that person was Sunni, Shica or Johnny B(calusho ku socote oo xaarko kugo dag, Johnny ) the admin would have still acted in the same way. Bashi, see what I was saying about emotions now?

^^ What if those guys demanded that Somali troops withdraw from Iraq? Hang on, they're too silly they'll probably demand that next anyway.

J, calm down, saaxib! A benevolent dictatorship is understood to be the ideal form of government. After all, I’m assuming that this site is the private property of somebody and not really owned by us all (even though we all like to act that way). I was actually paying the admin a subtle compliment there. Now give us a smile.
-
I had a feeling someone will come back at me there! Nothing wrong with dictatorships, J! Why did you have to take it in a negative way, saaxib? It was not intended as such. I think most of those who “opposed†it, did so because of the mentioning of the name of the accused while an “investigation†was still taking place. None of this concerns me though; I was merely dispensing free advice in my capacity as the self-elected forum Wiseman. I will now retreat to the visitor’s gallery and watch the case of the century unfold.

Admin, thanks for that information. I’m not sure how you could confirm if the person using that username is OG Girl or someone else. The person might have two IP addresses but I too use two IP addresses. One at home and one at work (sometimes even internet cafes)! I’m sure you know what you’re doing in that area though. Not my place to criticise your actions (this is a benevolent dictatorship after all). However, mentioning your suspicions in public will put pressure on the accused forumer and probably stop her from continuing on this thread (if this turns out not to be true or you fail to find concrete evidence of her guilt). Hey, nobody is perfect, man. As the Arabs say “ All great horses trip at least once in their lifeâ€. Waad yara kuftay saaxib. As for this topic and with all due respect to brother Nur and others, I have a feeling that such a topic is a tini weenie bit too big for you. Since nobody here is a great scholar with knowledge rolling of his/her tongue (rather than all the cut and paste jobs from websites) lets slow down on the accusations/implying of Kufur/Shirk and try to learn from each other if we can. If we can’t lets just move on into something else.

Mr Lennon said the following, saaxib: Imagine there's no heaven, It's easy if you try, No hell below us, Above us only sky, Imagine all the people living for today... Imagine there's no countries, It isn't hard to do? Nothing to kill or die for, And no religion too, Imagine all the people living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one, I hope some day you will join us, And the world will be as one Imagine no possesions, I wonder if you can, No need for greed or hunger, A brotherhood of man, imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one, I hope some day you will join us, And the world will live as one from: http://www.lyrics007.com/John%20Lennon%20Lyrics/Imagine%20Lyrics.html Mr Lennon was also a senile old fool.

A thread by Truth Seeker got me thinking and daydreaming about things. Let me ask you people a few questions. Imagine if your country of origin is a peaceful place with good functioning government. Imagine if that government upholds the rights of individuals and does not interfere. Imagine if it applies full democratic rule. Imagine if adults are totally free to run their lives in whatever way they wanted to. Imagine if religion was accepted, respected and only allowed as a personal choice. Imagine if consenting adults were permitted to engage in intercourse outside of marriage, cohabit and fall in love with people of their own gender if they so wish. Imagine if the government permitted the drinking of alcohol and the decision to partake in it was left to each individual to make! Imagine if sexism, racism and all the other “‘isms†were eradicated. Imagine if there were no shackles and no stigmas attached to any lawful actions you commit such as showing overt acts of affection to your girlfriend/boyfriend in public. Imagine if we become flexible enough and are able to react to and accept changes in trends, morals and modern ideas! I’m sure there are more things to mention but you’ll have to imagine them yourselves I’m afraid, I’m getting tired of typing. Would it be a nice dream or a scary nightmare?

^^^ What's your reaction to this other than it being a war against Islam? How do you think this "war" will pan out and what will be the resulting positives/negatives? Do you think they'll resort to winning the hearts and minds of the Muslim people in order to win this war? Or, will they attempt to turn every Muslim country into another Turkey? How moderate are the moderates and how extreme are the extremist? How does this affect your party’s plan for a Khilafa? What will be your message in reply?

lol@^^^^ The women need to take a more pro-active role in the communities. Of course, they will be shushed. Priceless.

Sweet girl, you seem to be doing the right things there. Some of the suggestion Lazy girl gave are useful too. But your real downfall seems to be the lack of experience in the job market! Your first step should be to approach an employment agency (don’t know if you have any of these where you live). You’re likely to land a few temporary jobs here and there which you can add to your CV (resume). This will hopefully increase your confidence when you go to interviews for “proper†jobs. As Lazy girl already stated, every job is different and you need to design your resume accordingly. For many jobs for example, you’ll need to emphasise your problem solving abilities, your team working skills and your natural talent for grasping difficult concepts. Some jobs require specific abilities and if you believe you have those abilities then you really need to highlight them in your resume. Interviews are a lottery but you can do a few things to at least make them remember you favourably when making their decisions. Dress right, take your time when answering questions (don’t daydream though) and act as if you know what you’re talking about (any research about the job you do beforehand will come in handy here). The best way of finding a job though is to tell everyone you know (and don’t know) that you’re looking for a job. Someone somewhere will pass you information of a sure thing. Good luck.

Heh. Calm down now, saaxib. My criticism of the politics section stands. Nothing underhand about that. As for “dealing with nomads in a patronizingly superior manner†that’s just your perception. Now I know that I’m great, the bees knees in fact. But, it’s not my fault that you guys regard me as superior to you and attempt to dissect and interpret every word I utter. Yes, it is only words on a screen but so far that only seems to apply to a few others and me. Like I advised the sister earlier, you need to harness your emotion a little, saaxib. DA, see? A man getting emotional there! Need I say more? I’m going home now. Hope you leave me some nice calm messages for when I come back in the morning. Have a nice day.

A discussion my dear, entails you giving your opinion and accepting the opinions of others (even if you don’t agree with them). What’s been happening here does not resemble a discussion at all. Most of those you disagree with have agreed that mosques are not women-friendly. Some gave their reasons why they think this is so while others tried to excuse it. I’m not going to go on about other individuals but if you read my previous posts you will see that I suggested that this should be taken up with mosque authorities. I also wondered if mosques could be designed in such a way whereby if one prayer happens to have lots of women in it, the space can be instantly provided to accommodate them. I mentioned the economical restraints that prevent most mosques from providing great spaces for non-existent women worshippers and the idea of supply and demand. That was just me; many others had very valid points (IMHO) too. What was your reply to that? Its funny though that not one man stood up and said what majority of the women here are stating about the realities of the modern mosque and its accommodation towards women. This is not a feminist issue. It's simply an issue. Do you still consider this to be a discussion? Don’t worry about “the stereotypical feminine emotions†by the way. These days, the men engage in that more than the women do (you just have to read the political section and all the wailing and wringing of hands there to see that). I do not discriminate when it comes to pointless arguments, dear. If you and others (men and women) seriously want to make this a useful discussion you’ve got to try harness the anger a little. I don’t apologies for these comments but if they hurt you in any way then I do apologise. It’s only words on a screen......

^^^ I think the correct expression to use here would be “ whooshâ€. Psssst I was indirectly having a go at the larcenists.

Gibran's take on a similar thing. Once there lived in the ancient city of Afkar two learned men who hated and belittled each other's learning. For one of them denied the existence of the gods and the other was a believer. One day the two met in the market-place, and amidst their followers they began to dispute and to argue about the existence or the non-existence of the gods. And after hours of contention they parted. That evening the unbeliever went to the temple and prostrated himself before the altar and prayed the gods to forgive his wayward past. And the same hour the other learned man, he who had upheld the gods, burned his sacred books. For he had become an unbeliever. From the book The Madman His Parables and Poems.

Do ladies need to change their complexion just to fit in?
NGONGE replied to QUANTUM LEAP's topic in General
lol@QL Didn’t mean to spoil your topic, saaxib. Was just in a ranting mood I suppose. As for the questions you asked. Shall I be honest or shall I go on about black beauty and try to appease people? People go for lighter complexions because white is considered a more beautiful colour than black. There are dozens of “good†things associated with “light†and hundreds of bad things associated with “blackâ€. This is not a Western thing or a result of apartheid. In places like India and Pakistan people judge a girl’s caste by the colour of her skin. The lighter the colour the higher the caste. In the West people sing the praises of blondes! In Somalia (even though we don’t like to admit it) people would use the lightness of a girl’s skin as a factor when describing her beauty. I’m not trying to put black people down here but it seems that the lightness of the skin, the length of the eyelashes and the straightness of the hair measure beauty! The marketing men and the various magazines only highlighted and gave prominence to a situation that already existed. All this does not only apply to women either, it also applies to men. I’m not sure if younger girls these days ask for the same thing but in my days I remember them all wanting to marry “nin dheer oo casâ€. He usually was a doctor too. The quest for beauty did not start with the first ever edition of Vogue. -
Yasmine, still splitting hairs I see? Just before you go can you please tell me that you’re not seriously trying to argue that women go to mosques in huge numbers? (In any part of the world). Cumra and Xaj would not count here of course. As for silly remarks, what did you expect? (Not you personally). The arguments being put forward were silly to start with. The people who replied to it did so with good (in most parts) replies yet it was still a men versus women topic. Answer this in a sensible and unemotional manner and you’ll happily be excused.

^^^The sand idea didn’t take off, saaxib. It seems that some clever sod has managed to convince people to buy and build houses back in Somalia/Somaliland/Puntland. I’ve got to congratulate whoever that was. It’s a much better scam than mine.

What an interesting read. Thanks for that, saaxib. See, if had to hear this story being told in Somali with all the ums, errs, erms and eeens in between I probably would not have found it that interesting.

I thought Rahima did a very good job above, saaxib. Don’t really think her marital statues or cultural background make much of a difference here.
