  1. Ah! A smile! Surely we must be calm and composed today then? Now, would I be deluding myself if I expected you to finally do the decent thing and pen your refutations to my comments (since they upset you that much) without resorting to cheap and pointless accusations that are based on mere perceptions? Come on now, it’s been over twenty posts on this thread already and apart from a few weak hints on your first post, I have not seen any signs of an argument or point that you’re making. Surely a “Caaqil†like you would have a lot to say on a subject that he believes in so strongly! Be a man who stands up for his convictions or drop the whole thing, son. If you decide to carry on with your random proverbs and poems, be my guest, I’ll know then not to pay these tantrums of yours any credence and avoid any future discourse with pouting philosophers. It’s your call, saaxib.
  2. ^^^ Heh. How predictably dull! يا بائعـا هـذا ببخـس معـجـل كأنـك لا تـدري ولا أنت تعـلـم Ùإن كنت لاتدري Ùتلك مصيبة وإن كنت تدري Ùالمصيبة أعظم Iska nafis, adeer, waxa calusha kugo yala o dhan wada matag..I’ve given you enough of my time already.
  3. Heh. Was it a Chinese movie you watched, Mr Caaqil? Did you see the wise mentor talking in riddles and decided to copy him so as to appear “clever Like I said and will keep on saying, when you’ve clamed down and are ready to air your grievance without all this terrible pouting and adolescent conduct, I’ll still be here waiting to receive a few comprehensible pearls of wisdom, my Caaqil youth. I wouldn’t expect you to pen any rational thoughts now, considering the state you’re in, however, what goes up, must come down (as the popular saying goes). So, when you’ve had a minute to gather your thoughts and are done with all the disparaging and pointless tirade, maybe you can enlighten me as to the puzzling source of this disproportionate reaction to my view (and comments) on that “other†subject! Being the natural cynic that I am, I feel another Somali poem or proverb coming my way. Let us hope that this time, my prophecy proves wrong and I get a favourable response.
  4. Were you sleeping all of yesterday, huuno malab? I thought I already told you this yesterday.
  5. lol@Sisade It sounds like you reluctantly accept it. Anyway, I was hoping to steer the subject away from the “sweet txt msgs†into something else. It didn’t work as well as I wanted. Seems everyone is in LOVE with mobile phones. Ah well...
  6. ^^ I’m sure it’s a great poem but since I don’t understand it and am in no mood to decipher the hidden message within, I’ll just assume that contains something wise and profound. Call it a prophesy, intuition or whatever, but my words in my first ever post in this thread seem to have come true. The hole has been dug; let’s hope you don’t regret it when you come to read it in the future. I, on the other hand, stand by every word I posted on the “other†thread and it would dearly gladden me if you see sense and come away from the mob.
  7. ^^^ I’m not imposing anything on you, saaxib. Like I said, take a few days out and come back to read your own words. Having read some of your contributions in the past, I can confidently say that this is completely out of character for you and I’m sure that a bit of a break will help in resuming normal service. PS Apologies if any of this seems patronising or condescending in any way, this is NOT my intention (and no, this is not some game either).
  8. ^^^^ It would be easier if you tried to blow on a burst balloon, dear. The powers that be in SOL these days have seen fit to put some hurdles and obstacles in our way so as to improve our cyber fitness. When faced with one of these, don’t try to reason, just jump, skip or walk right through it. As for the topic, To speak the language of the land is a good idea. To preach in a language your “congregation†understands is even a better idea. There are many mosques that have their own languages. I’ve been to a few where the Imam preaches in Urdu during Jumca prayers (my Urdu is great these days). It also makes Islam like some sort of Masonic sect, hidden and unapproachable! Of course, my agreement with this idea does not extend to the French government’s plan to dictate to Muslims how to conduct their own affairs. That is government interference and is laughable in a country that claims to be a secular nation.
  9. I hope we get to continue this discussion when you’re in a more tranquil mood, saaxib. I believe I’ve written you a very clear piece and don’t see any need to address any of your baseless accusations, however, if you insist and would want to have a detailed reply on the whole thing, I’d rather do so at a time when I’m certain that you’re in full control of your emotions. I’ve got to admit my surprise and disappointment at the way things have turned out, however, I’m of the opinion that this is but a minor lapse on your part that will soon be corrected (we all have them from time to time).
  10. Hmmm! I seem to have got in the way of a serious rant here! Now I understand the reason and origin for the “Maandhoow Cayaayirka iga daa caaqil baan ahay e!†comment! Saaxib, with all due respect and reverence, one’s emotions are in need of harnessing and taming. A full day has passed and the words were still written in haste it seems! I wouldn’t normally give serious replies to such rants, but hey, it’s lunchtime and it’s cold out there, I might as well pass the time with something productive (though that remains to be seen). Since the chap that this thread concerns is not here and has not been explicitly pointed out by the author, I shall gallantly take his place and reply on his behalf. I beg the pardon and forgiveness of my fellow Nomads if I’m not as erudite as the man in question is alleged to be. Still, I’ll endeavour to make my modest clarity play substitute to my truant sophistication. Now, this accused whimsical chap, what is it exactly that he’s accused of? What are the bases of such accusations? Are they worth any refutations? Having been privy to the exchange between the author of this thread and the chap in question, I dare say that there isn’t anything to refute here. Had the discussion been about Justice, freedom or even decency then I’m more than certain that the accused chap would have approached the subject with seriousness and accorded it the respect it deserves, however, one can only march to the drumbeat of the band. In this case, the band had no rhythm and the accused chap is within his rights to mock and scorn the resulting pathetic disarray. Topics, discussions, contentions and accusations are treated and replied to according to their weight and impression! I’m satisfied that the accused chap has tailored his replies to the aforementioned subject to fit in with the general theme and air. Words are great tools that are often abused by people! The author rightly states that our words convey our motives and inner thoughts; however, words can be misinterpreted, misunderstood and misused. One can make an educated guess about someone’s words, one can follow and study someone’s style and delivery and one can even observe someone’s obvious elusiveness and reserve! However, and in spite of all of that, one cannot be fully certain of someone’s motives and hidden thoughts! A supposedly wise man need not have these basics explained to him, nor would a wise man need to be told that the most reliable way to view a panoramic reflection of someone’s motives and inner thoughts is through their EMOTIONS. I dearly hope the accused chap will be contented with my input here. He’d probably nod and say “couldn’t have put it better myselfâ€.
  11. ^^^ Sorry to have interrupted you, caaqil. Carry on.
  12. NGONGE - Suju yahow lissen..What evidence you got? Just answer me why the fleeing refugees are Black and not a mixture of ethnicities, i.e. Black, Arab etc? I fail to understand why people call me a “Sujuâ€! Is it my accent, saaxib? As for the topic, I really am not sure that we’re on the same page as you claim. You’re asking strange questions here! Ok, let us ignore the different definitions for a minute here, and try to state the obvious instead (since that’s what you seem to want). The reason these people are fleeing is because (shock horror) the fighting is taking place on their side of town! Like I said, it was a strange question that added nothing to the discussion on hand. Saaxib, we need to agree on the basics before we move on with the discussion. This conflict is taking part in the West of Sudan. The West of Sudan is predominantly Muslim. The South, which by the way has nothing to do with this conflict, is predominantly Christian. The north (the Arabs) is where the government of that whole land is based. The West is rebelling against the government! The “Arab†militias are fighting the rebels since this rebellion, should it be allowed to go ahead, would impinge on their own livelihoods (the Western Arabs). The government, faced with yet another rebellion, naturally supported the Janjaweeds (so-called Arab militias) in their fight against the rebels. Follow me so far? These are facts, saaxib. They’re not my opinions or twisted words. Like I said in my earlier posts, there is more to this conflict than a simple Arab/Black disagreement. On a side note; why do you classify northern Sudanese as Arabs and all the others as blacks? Is it because they have Arabic names? Maybe it’s because Sudan is a member of the Arab league and therefore the government must be ARAB, right? Is it because their BLACK faces have Arab characteristics? Surely, your reasons, if any, for classing them as Arabs will equally apply to you yourself as a Somali! After all, most Somalis don’t look that much different from ordinary Northern Sudanese, saaxib! Classique, Never underestimate the power of that great Somali news medium of “Waxa la Yidhiâ€, sister. It’s all that any Somali needs (ignorance and knowledge don’t matter here, it’s our culture, innit!).
  13. I was introduced to this program a while back. I have it on my PC at home but only have two people on my “pal list†(one was the guy who introduced me to it). It’s a nice little program I agree.

Cows eat grass, thats ok. But monkeys using mobile, incredible!! Still pressing? Unbleivable. NGNONE, you know, waa u naxaa old people when they complain about computers, internet, and automated phone services...!! Iyaka camal aa noqotay.....complaining about mobiles and listing all the disadvantages...havent you watched the movie Cell Phone! Well i have not watched it either, but it would help you recognize all the benefits of cell phones if you see it...!! Salaamz I may be old now. But, when mobile phones came out I was probably younger than you are now. So, that argument flies straight out the window. It’s not a matter of age, being a technophobe or a luddite! It’s a case of importance. I’ve listed my objections to mobile phones and I can’t see any of you cell phone fans disputing any of it!
  15. Flag factory, saaxib. There are so many patriotic people around the world who’ll always buy flags. With Somalia itself having four or five flags so far, imagine all the flags you’ll sell whenever there is a conflict between the different sides or a celebration. It’s a sure thing. Goes with your name too
  16. Grilling is a man thing dawg Thus spoke a single man

  19. ^^^ All publicity is good publicity, saaxib. Should it turn out that I’m indeed the reason for this, as yet unseen, analysis, I’ll greatly welcome all that it contains. Praise will massage my mammoth ego and disparagement will force the good-hearted Nomads to leap to my defence! In either case, I’ll be the centre of attention, again. What more could a confessed egomaniac such as I wish for?
  20. To the best of my knowledge, the difference is only in the way they’re made. Both are worn from the shoulders downwards. The only difference I can think of (subject to correction from the female Nomads) is that the Jilbaab will almost always have a matching scarf (the bit that covers the head), while an Abaya might not. Ah! Also, an Abaya might have a split down the middle (but not always and not with the new fashions these days - it’s more likely to have buttons or be worn like a dress). I hope I have not confused you. FF, female necks are not an area that I particularly have a great interest in (probably why I’ve got a foot fetish I suppose). Internet nicks on the other hand...
  21. All these are forms of outer garments. They only differ in shape and style. The under garments (to the best of my knowledge) can be anything, though in most cases they’re likely to be blouses and long skirts. All the outer garments are forms of Hijab (for the Hijab is the cover that women use to, erm, hide their modesty). In the site I’ve given you, it shows you the different types of Hijabs. Different cultures and women have/choose to follow different styles. The central theme being that regardless of the form/type or style of Hijab its main purpose should be to adequately cover women’s modesty (i.e. protruding parts and all those parts that might be objects of desire and lust such as the nick and hair). (Apology for the bluntness of my words, people)
  22. ^^^^ I had an argument with the females on this site about the proper form of Hijab a while back, saaxib. Let us say that I got severely injured on that occasion. I’ve been prepared ever since.
  23. I agree that Henry is a great player. There isn’t much difference between him and Ronaldinhio. Well, not much difference apart from the fact that the Brazilian is better, more entertaining and is not going to become rubbish when he loses his pace. Other than that, they’re really equal in talent.
  24. The same site has all the explanations you need. The link to the following pages is at the bottom. Niqab In fact, I’d recommend this site for any reading sisters. It has great tips. Erm, I can Edit too: Nice looking Indian girls ** Swoons **
