^^ I used to be able to reason with him in his early days here but I fear I have lost him to Xiin's more exciting movement of "talk now, think later".

Guru, he's meeting the UK Somalilanders tonight. Do you really expect him to reveal any change in policy with such a crowd?
-
^^ Oo muxu nin rag ku noqday? Ma bombka oo meel cidla dhigay? Mise sido askarta ka baxsaday markay rago is heleen?
-
^^ Why would I. Didn't I just tell you that I hate the stuff (including the meat)?
-
^^ Err..they're all Camels, mate. It's funny that when the world thinks of Camels, they don't think of us but rather of the Arabs!
-
^^ A Somali speaking Maasai? Did the family want you to learn a new language but could only afford the cheap schools, mate?

^^ These are the problems I used to have, saaxib. But I quit shiihsa a while back and now I smoke these: p.s. Ku man xaasidin tagsiilaha hado wax helay. For I've always said, nin qooqay waxba laga ma qoro. (with apologies for my inability to use a more polite description)

Siilaanyo's system of government has always been one where he does all he can to avoid the finger of blame being pointed at him (this is why he loves setting up "guddis"). He may try to convince the opposition and the SL parliement to accept the invitation to go to the London Conference but, since I believe that the reply is going to be "NO", I strongly doubt that Siilaanyo is going to accept this invitation. Here is Hirsi talking about the meeting with Cameron (more or less what I suggested yesterday): “Raysal wasaaruhu waxa uu ka dalbaday Madaxweynaha inay Somaliland ka soo qeyb gasho shirka uu London Ingiriisku ku qabanayo. Madaxweynaha Somaliland waxa uu Raysal wasaaraha u qadimay mawqifkayagii oo ah inaanay Somaliland shirka ka soo qeyb galaynin haddii ay tahay madaxweynaha iyo haddii ay tahay madaxda kale ee qaranka ee uu kala tashadayba, waxaanu u sheegay in qarankayagu uu ka tashaday oo uu shirkaasi ka gaadhay go’aan ah inaan laga qeyb galin.” “Markii uu Madaxweynuhu arrintaasi u sheegay waxa uu mar iyo lababa Raysal wasaaraha Ingiriisku ka dalbaday Madaxweynaha Inay mawqifkoodaasi dib u eegaan, maadaama oo ay duni badani ka soo qeyb galayso shirkan Somaliland-na ay tahay cidii ay iskugu dhowaayeen oo aanu miiska Somaliland madhnaan ee haddii ay ku adag tahay inay ka soo qeyb galaan ay ka fikiraan sidii ay goob jooge ugu soo diri lahaayeen,”ayuu yidhi Wasiirka Madaxtooyadda oo maanta u waramayay Laanta Afsoomaaliga ee BBC-da. “Madaxweynuhuna waxa uu ugu hal-celiyay maadaama oo Somaliland iyo Ingiriiska saaxiibtinimo qoto-dheeri ka dhaxeyso, waanu qiimaynaynaa, laakiin arrintani waa go’aan guud ahaan qarankaygu isku wada raacsan yahay wixii tallo ahna uu ku soo celin doono go’aanse muu siinin.” Wasiirka madaxtooyaddu waxa uu intaasi ku daray inaanu Madaxweyne Axmed Siilaanyo waxba ka bedelin mowqifkiisii, hase yeeshee isagoo ixtiraamaya Raysal wasaaraha Ingiriiska waxa uu ku war celiyay inuu ka soo fikirayo isla markaana tallo kula noqon doono Somaliland. http://www.somaliland.org/2013/04/18/wasiir-xirsi-oo-ka-hadlay-kulankii-raysal-wasaaraha-ingiriiska-iyo-madaxweynaha-somaliland/

Good morning all. I decided to take the day off but then changed my mind and came in anyway. raula, you know Arabs also have caano geel, don't you? I just can't stand the stuff.

Wayahy! I sometimes do wonder if maybe SL should just stay with the union. These guys can't function without us, it seems. They have months of Kismaayo stories and the parliment does nothing, they see a meeting with Somaliland the sixty sleepy members wake up to protest!

President Silanyo Meets British PM David Cameron (video)
NGONGE replied to Siciid1986's topic in Politics
^^ What's there to verify though? They were asked by the British PM to reconsider and they told him that they will. That's how politics works, saaxib. Only a fool would burn bridges when there is no need to do so. -
^^ Xiin always wastes his bullets on shadows, don't let him drag you down with him. (nothing really happend so far).
-
^^ Siilaanyo is going to America next. We already know what he was doing in Turkey, Malika. It's only diplomatic to say "I'll think about it" whilst you're a guest of someone. Once you're back on solid ground you can politely decline. It's amazing that people are running with this when nothing has been revealed yet.
-
^^ Isn't that what I said above. SL will probably agree to a referendum but doubt if they'll agree to anything else.

President Silanyo Meets British PM David Cameron (video)
NGONGE replied to Siciid1986's topic in Politics
^^ Still, it shows the strength of feeling in Somaliland about anything that may compromise our position. War it even made Stoic begin to load his gun. Is anyone taking note though? (you'll soon get the usual suspects talking about unity). -

President Silanyo Meets British PM David Cameron (video)
NGONGE replied to Siciid1986's topic in Politics
^^ You don't make threats on hearsay, saaxib. That's not the way politics works. Wax fahan. -
^^ Dee I ignore the noise and only focus on the main points. Somaliland refused to attend the meeting. The UK asked them yesterday to reconsider and Siilaanyo said that he'll think about it (all the rest is just noise). Well, it's only polite to say that you'll think about something when you're in the house of he who is asking you. What is hopeful or wishful about that?
-
^^ I reckon Somaliland will accept a referendum. I'm not sure about them agreeing to share anything with Somalia in the meanwhile. As for Hassan Sheikh, not even the Imam could guess what that guy is up to.
-
^^ That's South Sudan too. A referendum was always on the agenda.
-
^^ The Brits will try and you can't blame them for trying, saaxib. But Siilaanyo is the president of Somaliland and KNOWS that he can't dream of selling such a U turn to his electorate without bringing some major excuses with it. None are forthcoming and neither did he accept the British invitation (yet). Sayid, Dee he did all of that yesterday and he didn't even have to push anyone else out of the way. Still, the fact that he met Cameron brings a smile to my face. I can just picture how the meeting was arranged and how the British aids kept remidning Siilaanyo and Co of the importance of such meeting. They probably threw in stories about the major fuenral that took place earlier in the day and attached some hints about the how the world views British PMs. Si fiican ayaay Siilaanyo o bislayiin so that he does not refuse any "order" that Cameron gives him. But, Siilaanyo, being a Somali and being more afraid of canaanta Faysal Cali Waraabe than a request by some gaal, could not bring himself to say anything more than "waan ka fakari doona" (as in, I'll phone Faysal and every other islaan that may pick on me later).

^^ It's Jacaylbaro's "observer" idea in that other thread.
