Troops are needed I thank the A.U for what they are doing. Somalia needs to be helped from itself. Who on earth would consider a country without a Government a Country. -

A/Qaybdeed takes over lower Mudug: Courts cry out "Ethiopia" These guys are really using the Ethiopia card way to much. To them EthiopiA is everywhere! How long did the Courts think they were going to say in Mudug? -
This President nerve had it easy and he is not having it easy at the moment. Those that say he had a chance to rule Somalia peacefully may I asked when was that? Things must be done forcfully from now on the President needs to show the little once who the real President is. Those that fight against our only Somali Government deserve to die may they die in the thousands and may Allah give them hell after their deaths. I want to go back home in my motherland but with out peace I ain't going now where. Peace is needed more than anything at this moment. We need one Power in Somalia not 2 or 3. One President and one voice.

XAAMAR_101 We are trying to get rid of these guys why on earth would we Reconize them? They have no legtimatce at all. Who other then themselves reconize ICU? Mogdishu is only one city in South Somalia that does not give them authroity over all of the South. The only ugly face Somalia got is South Somalia so the troops will go their to clean it up for yo'll 4. "Keep abdulahi Yusuf in Baydhawa till he runs out of time we hold new election in somalia" You wish for that huh? Well I am sorry but that's kinda inpossible at the moment. The President will be in Villa Somalia in no time like it or not. Xoogsade those that don't want peace for Somalia are no brothers of mine they must go 6 feet under with the help of god of course.

Easy they come but it takes a bloody war usually to evict unwelcome foreign troops. Add to the eqaution to some opportunistic somalis who might happily serve along side foreigners. I asure you they won't be ill-equipped when they roll in with tanks and guns never seen on Somali soil. I know for sure Somalians will not try to fight a good strong force of 7,000 troops with tanks but the question should be which not so not smart tribe or tribes will fight and die in the thousands? This Government will succee no matter what. If thousands of so not smart people have to disappear form Somalia to get peace than be it I say they must not hold us any longer.

First of all 18.5m is pocket change for the E.U and the United states. The united states is spenting more than 1 billion per Month in Iraq. The united states makes it's own money keep that in mind. Pulse they are the once selling the Iraqi Gas at the moment it's in their hands. Anyways Somalia is not asking anything from the United Nations expect to allow the ready troops in Somalia. Also Somalia and Igad and the A.U are not asking anything else from U.K united states or the U.N expect to give some of their Pocket change for this mission. This Mission is already planned out they can't say no to it. This is a project let by A.U not the United States or the U.N or even the E.U we are just telling them now what's about to happen and to add on to the mission no one is awaiting for their approval at this moment. "Anyways, have you asked for refund of your charity since you threatened to ask for that if the IMAM of your mosque went to Muqdisho? Has he gone to Muqdisho yet?" He went to Kenya our Imam doesn't support those that use Islam for their own benfit. My money is in the hands of god where ever it goes I still get my house in heaven and good deed.

HornAfrique take a rest kid this isn't your other home that you run.

The whole world is filled with money so I don't think Money will be a problem with U.N A.U and the United states backing this Government it not going to be hard finding the $18.5mn to back the mission. We couldn't find a Somali solution for the Somali Problem for the past 16 years we Somalians need to be safed from our own selves I am serious!!! This government must succeed no matter what!

African Military Experts Discuss Peacekeeping Mission for Somalia NAIROBI, Kenya — Top African military officials are studying a proposal to send a 3,500-strong peace force by October to Somalia, where an internationally recognized government appears increasingly weak in comparison to and its fundamentalist Islamic rivals. Officials said Thursday that four battalions, made up of Ugandan and Sudanese troops, will be trained in Kenya before being deployed in an initial phase to the conflict-ridden country, African military experts told The Associated Press. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not allowed to speak to the media. CountryWatch: Somalia The military officials are meeting under the auspices of the regional Intergovernmental Authority on Development, which mediated peace talks on Somalia that led to a transitional government being formed two years ago. Somalia's transitional parliament had endorsed a security plan drawn up by Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf's government that includes a role for a regional peacekeeping mission. Somalia has not had a national army or police since warlords overthrew longtime dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991 and then turned on each other, pulling the country into anarchy. In June, Islamic militiamen took over the capital and then seized control of much of southern Somalia, while Yusuf's weak, internationally recognized government has been unable to assert its authority beyond Baidoa. The plan under discussion in Kenya is to station the troops in the southern Somalia regions of Bay and Bakol, the officials said. Yusuf's government is based in Baidoa, the capital of the Bay region, but has been unable to assert its authority elsewhere in the country. Four more battalions will be dispatched in a second phase when they have stabilized the area, the officials said. A Western diplomat, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of damaging relations with the seven-nation grouping, was skeptical about who would pay for the peace mission and whether the force could even be mustered. Kenyan Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Moses Wetangula told the military chiefs that need was urgent. "Even more important, there is a need for the Somali parties to create conditions for the peace support operation," Wetangula said. "We wish to underscore that the troops expected to be deployed will not be an occupation force, but rather a force that will assist Somalis realize peace and work closely with the Transitional Federal Institutions and relevant Somali actors," Wetangula said. The Intergovernmental Authority on Development first drafted a plan for a peacekeeping mission to Somalia in March 2005, but it could not implement it because a 1992 U.N. Security Council arms embargo on Somalia remains in force. The grouping has made several calls for the embargo to be eased, which the Security Council has not acted on. In recent months, however, senior European officials have indicated that they could push for such a measure if the Somali government and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development came up with a clear plan for a peacekeeping mission. Francois Lonseny Fall, the U.N.'s top envoy to Somalia, told journalists Wednesday that he had advised the Security Council against making any changes to the arms embargo and, instead, said that they should push for more talks between the government and Islamists on the rise in the country. Somalia's interim Prime Minister Ali Mohamed Gedi has survived a no-confidence motion in parliament. Eighty-eight lawmakers voted Sunday to keep the prime minister, just enough to prevent the fall of Mr. Gedi's transitional government. The government was weakened Thursday when 18 cabinet ministers resigned. Another blow came Friday when the minister overseeing efforts to rewrite Somalia's constitution was shot and killed in Baidoa, the only town under the government's control. Many lawmakers have said they oppose Mr. Gedi's decision to allow Ethiopian troops onto Somali territory. The troops arrived in Baidoa earlier this month after Islamic militias appeared to threaten the government by moving to within 40 kilometers of the town. The militias, loyal to Somalia's Islamic courts, control much of southern Somalia, including the capital, Mogadishu. Islamic authorities in the capital have condemned Ethiopia for supporting the government, while the government accuses Ethiopia's main rival Eritrea of backing the Islamists. Two cargo planes touched down in Mogadishu this week under mysterious circumstances. In both cases, Islamic gunmen closed off roads to the airport and chased away onlookers as the cargo was unloaded. The U.S. Assistant Secretary of African Affairs, Jendayi Frazer, says both the government and miliitas have been backed by foreign forces. Source: VOA, July 30, 2006

A truly respectable leader in his own right who had, not only the the respect of Somalis, but of the whole Islamic community in the state of Washington. Imagine that, a great scholar and a former professor of Islamic studies. Kudos to the Courts! My support increases everytime I see the calibre of their members. Sheikh Ibrahim recently asked to be sent back to Somalia after being arrested and being held by the anti-terrorism and immigration officials on flimsy charges. First he was accused of lying to immigration officials, then of being a member of the ONLF, and then of other accusations. Everytime a charge was refuted, another soon followed until it was obvious to all that the good Sheikh was being held on acount of only being a respected religious leader. Since the harshest sentence of those charges was deportation, the good Sheikh volunteered to be sent back to his country after having coverted a total sum of 38 people in the Washington immigration facility at Tacoma. Earlier Arrest There goes the Sheikh in the left hand side with glasses and cimaamad. Brother HornAfrique I am sorry but our Sheikh Ibrahim from Seattle is still in prison he hasn't been deported yet. When he does he won't be heading to Mogdishu I know that for sure. Reer Seattle are already worried about where the money for the Mosque has went if he dares goes to Mogishu everyone even I will ask for my money back.

Eighteen Somali ministers and other top officials quit the interim government yesterday and lawmakers moved to oust the prime minister, in moves intended to draw rival Islamists into peace talks and avert war. Government sources said the manoeuvres could open the way for Islamists to take ministerial posts. Power-sharing is seen as the best way to stop a descent into war in the Horn of Africa nation. The Islamists took Mogadishu in June and control a swathe of the south, threatening the authority of a government set up in 2004. It was the 14th attempt to restore central rule since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre. In a consolidation of their power in Mogadishu, Islamist militia yesterday took over one of the city's most famous buildings, a Barre-era presidential palace called Villa Somalia. It had been held by gunmen loyal to a defeated warlord. The Islamists inaugurated a new sharia tribunal, the "Presidential Palace Islamic Court", at the bullet-scarred, hilltop mansion. Former fighters for the warlord joined Islamist ranks, and an arsenal of weapons was handed over. Lawmakers said a vote of no confidence in Ali Mohamed Gedi, the prime minister, had been presented to the parliamentary speaker and would be debated on Saturday in Baidoa, seat of the Western-backed interim authorities. The list of high-level resignations included seven ministers, seven assistant ministers and four state ministers. "We have decided to vacate all the seats for the Khartoum talks," outgoing state minister of parliament and government relations Abdirahman Haji Adan said. The two sides held one round of talks in the Sudanese capital last month before negotiations broke down. A new round is slated for early next month. - Reuters Click here to send this article to a friend ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MOGADISHU, July 27 (Reuters) - Eighteen Somali ministers and assistant ministers resigned on Thursday from the fragile interim government in what they said was a move to facilitate peace talks with rival Islamists. "We have resigned because we have failed to fulfil the needs of the Somali people. We have decided to vacate all the seats for the Khartoum talks," state minister of parliament and government relations Abdirahman Haji Adan told Reuters. Analysts say the achievement of a power-sharing agreement in talks slated to take place in Sudan could be the only way to avert war in the Horn of Africa nation. The resignation of ministers, whose posts could possibly be filled by Islamists in any future administration, will be interpreted by many as a genuine attempt to bring that about. First talks took place in Khartoum in June, but the government boycotted a second round this month in protest at alleged Islamist violations of a pact against military expansion. The Islamists took Mogadishu from U.S.-backed warlords on June 5 and now control a swathe of southern Somalia. Their rise has challenged the authority of the Western-backed government, set up in 2004 in the 14th attempt to restore central rule to Somalia since the 1991 ousting of a dictator by warlords ushered in an era of anarchy. KHAT BUST IN SEATTLE and many other cities 44 SOMALIANS ARRESTED!!! A KHAT BUST TOOK PLACE LAST NIGHT WHILE Somalian -Americans were at sleep. Federal Agents Bust 44 in Khat Smuggling Ring Wednesday, July 26, 2006 NEW YORK — Federal agents say they have broken up a smuggling ring responsible for most U.S. distribution of a leafy stimulant called khat, which is illegal in America, but commonly used in East Africa and parts of the Arabian peninsula. Prosecutors announced the indictment of 44 people Wednesday on charges that they helped bring 25 tons of the plant into the United States in recent years. All but 14 of the suspects were under arrest after a series of sweeps in several states. Some five tons of the drug, worth $2 million, have been seized by agents during the 18-month investigation, authorities said. U.S. Attorney Michael Garcia said the case signals that law enforcement agents take khat smuggling seriously. Largely unknown to Americans, khat is a common and socially accepted drug in Yemen, Somalia, Kenya and Ethiopia. Users chew it, like loose tobacco, and generally experience a mild buzz that lasts for about 90 minutes. It can cause an elevated heart rate and blood pressure, as well as a feeling of euphoria. In some non-Arab or African countries where the drug has made a showing, it is viewed as a social ill, albeit an acceptable one. England considered a ban on khat this year, but decided against it. It is illegal in the U.S. because it can contain two controlled substances: cathonine, which is found in very fresh khat leaves, or cathine, a less potent chemical that turns up once the plant dries. The wave of arrests Wednesday nevertheless bothered Omar Jamal, the executive director of the Somali Justice Advocacy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota. He said the drug is routinely used among immigrant Somalis in the U.S. "I think it is very sad because khat is linked to Somali culture," he said. "It's part of the social system." Investigators said the defendants arrested Wednesday mailed khat to the United States in packages or sent it with couriers aboard commercial airlines. From New York, it made its way to Ohio, Minnesota, Maine, Massachusetts, Utah, Washington state, Illinois and Washington D.C. Some amounts of the drug were also smuggled into the U.S. inside United Nations diplomatic pouches, which are not subject to inspection by customs agents. People have been arrested for khat possession in the U.S. for years, but the busts have increased in frequency as the Arab and East African immigrant communities have grown. In a related case, a federal grand jury in Seattle indicted 18 people on khat importing charges. The six month investigation led to the seizure of 1,000 pounds of the drug. Gilbride said the drug is still seldom distributed outside those communities, but is no less of a public health risk. Medical studies have yet to conclude how bad khat can be to someone's health, but some research has linked it to depression, hyperactivity or hallucinations among longtime users.

Xoogsade don't blind yourself brother. Everyone knows the History of War-lord YusufInda Cade and Xasan Dahir we weren't born yesterday!!! People like Yusuf Inda Cade and Xasan Dahir don't deserve to be on the same table with any TFG leader. They can use all the Propaganda in the World and brainwash Reer Mogdishu but that's as far as they can get. Even with the biggest Media in Somalia the BBC on their side they still will not win. What they have to understand is Somalia is not just Mogdishu.
