Mogadishu: Government troops and Somalia's Islamist militia engaged in "heavy fighting" on Saturday, pushing local militants out of town, residents said. "The fighting is still raging on. It looks like the local militia have been pushed out of town," said Abdihakim Ahmed, a resident of Bur Hakaba town. "I don't know how many are dead or wounded, I could not go outside." Regional Al Bayan leader Shaikh Mohamed Ibrahim Bila said he has ordered the local militia to retreat from the town after "government troops supported by Ethiopian soldiers attacked." "We were ambushed in the town. They attacked us and we have been fighting for about an hour. There are casualties but I cannot say how many. My men have been wounded and we have been pushed from the town," said Ibrahim Burow, the commander of the local militia. Bur Hakaba lies between Mogadishu and provincial Baidoa town, the seat of Somalia's interim government.

Barre Hirale, who was forced out from the port city of Kismayu, 500 km south of the capital Mogadishu, are in a motion to the Middle Jubba provincial town of Bu’ale where the Union of Islamic Courts forces are stationed. Bua’ale is 260 km south of the port city of Kismayu. Barre Hirale The Islamic Courts seized Kismayu 25 September when they had triggered the breakup of forme Jubba Valley Alliance that was in control of the port city. Reports from Kismayu say the Islamists in Bua’le had ordered more backup forces and battlewagons, attempting to bolster their grip of the town. The news comes as Barre Hirale, Somalia’s defense minister, had, ever since he left Kismayu without a single shot, been orchestrating tribal militias and financial backup in Bardhere, southern Somalia. Islamists’ army base in Kismayu, former slaughtering house, was attacked and three of their forces were wounded on Friday. The Islamists have incarcerated number of people mainly women including Barre Hirale’s wife who dwelled in Kismayu. The Union of Islamic Courts is in control of central and southern Somalia, including the capital Mogadishu. Residents, in Sakow where Col. Hirale’s militias were lingering, said quite more numbers of battle wagons had headed for Bu’ale, the Islamists’ main base in Middle Jubba region. Somalia’s defense minister Barre Hirale could not be reached for comments over his militias reportedly moving to Kismayu.

At least three riots staged against the Islamic Courts forces happened in Kismayu after they seized the town without a single shot. This is, however, the first direct clash between the Islamic Courts who seized the port city 25 September and remnants in favor of the chased warlord and Somalia’s defense minister Barre Adan Shire Hirale. Somalia’s Islamic Courts are in control of central and southern Somalia, including the capital Mogadishu.

The Somali federal government has made deal with JSL reportedly financed in Malaysia that it would take a profit of 53.3% while the rest belongs to JSL. Aideed said 65 individuals would be trained to fill in the government’s traveling department, adding that creating national armed forces had also been granted.
