  1. Sorry D.O.C Haatu;957850 wrote: I don't know, maybe because I felt like sh*t afterwards? Trust me there's reading for leisure, and then there's reading as if your life depends on it. Humans are a sociable species, we need to get out and mix with others and this can't happen if you're holed in in the house library (I always wanted one) all day. See, to me the best books are the ones that completely consume me in that way, and I've often read novels in one sitting. It's been a long time since I've read for pleasure though, so much of my reading now is non-fiction for school and I spend most of the day reading during the school year. I still enjoy it but it's a different type of experience. I don't think reading a lot is harmful though, there's a lot of anti-intellectualism in those sorts of statements that I find dangerous and problematic.

  3. Haatu;957843 wrote: It does. There's been times in the past where I spent my entire weekend reading. Literally most hours that I was awake and late into the night. It was the Demonata Saga which I finished in like a week. Wallahi I think those books had sixir on them that made you constantly read them. And what's wrong with that?

LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL Indeed he did, and now he's calculating how to pursue a political career in the north. I just see it as political opportunism. And I don't belong to any fold except Soomaalinimo, ee siida ula soco

I'm not bothered by any particular political position, it's these qori ismaris (hat tip, SP) types who will say anything to orient themselves for a future political career who bother me.

Didn't you look at the ancient super continent known as Pangaea that Alpha posted in the cantarbaqash thread? You may be on to something.

  10. Apophis, it may sound like a good idea but no one eats White Castle while sober. Local places are always best, if you're ever in Boston I'll take you to Mr.Bartley's Burger Cottage Reeyo;957765 wrote: Saf- Where are you packing for- Somali wedding fair? 12. ^^ You guys would probably ruin it like you've ruined McDonalds over there.

  15. Mad_Mullah;957734 wrote: Not Somalis, just from the Northern Tribes a lot of families left and settled in Salalah. Dhofar and Oman were fighting before becoming one country I think, and they just stayed and received Omani passports. You can find more and actual people from there here: http://www.facebook.com/groups/*****/?fref=ts Looks like SOL censors messed up the link, can you space out the letters that appeared in asterisks? I don't think Oman is some sort of exception to these other historical Somali migrations, so I'm doubtful that "hundreds" of families moved there at the turn of the century. Aden certainly would have had more Somalis during those years.
  16. Alpha Blondy;957732 wrote: apparently 300 million years ago there was one super continent surrounded by a single ocean, Panthalassa. LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL I saw this the other day. Somalia bordering Pakistan
  17. What's pretentious about reading?
  18. When was there ever mass migration of Somalis to Oman?
  19. A hundred years is not that long, we have Somali communities that old and older in the Middle East, as well as in Europe (UK) and the US. My ayeyo is a second generation Yemeni Somali, and she's about 80.
  20. I just got an Instagram account Almost completed my entry into the modern world, my next goal is to actually use Twitter.
