Like 10 years that don't want to give up breastfeeding. Some deep psychological damage control. What do you think? Guys who play videogames are the worst. Sorry Cambuulo

Missed the point completely. Read her book - it's quite good - hopefully you'll learn a few things about race and identity from her, and perhaps come to understand why your comments here are problematic. PS - derailing a thread is when someone introduces a new topic/discussion in the comments, not when someone comments on a topic that the OP has introduced. If you're going to have a tantrum when people here talk about her facial features, consider removing that comment from your initial post.

Classified;977136 wrote: Uhm, because she does. Her facial features very much resembles that of any ethnic group from the Horn (Somalia, Eritrea, Ethiopia and to a certain degree, Northern-Sudan). Are you offended to have an African-American woman's looks be compared to that of any ethnic group from the Horn, specifically the Somali ethnic group? No, I'm offended by people who feel the need to relate anyone who appears to not have stereotypically "black" features to the Horn, as though there isn't a diversity of features and skin tones present in the African American population already. Almost laughable when you consider the woman you're talking about, and her role in the Black Power movement.

Classified;977133 wrote: I know. So what's the point in saying she looks like someone from the Horn?

African Americans have a huge range of skin tones and facial features.

Carafaat;975632 wrote: Isn't TEdx about sharing innovative ideas? The most speakers are talking about NGO mashruucs that have little to do with real innovation. Besides the NGO projects and mashruucs, there is real innovation going on in Somalia. but unfortunately the organizers limited their scope. a bity for TEDx. TED talks are also often about the work people are doing, organizations/companies they've formed, etc that are making an impact. Give the organizers a break, I can imagine it's difficult to find and bring in speakers for an event like this, given the location and security concerns (I know through a friend that they've had people turn them down or back out). I will have to wait until the videos are uploaded, it started later than expected due to technical difficulties with the live stream and I fell asleep about three speakers in

~10 minutes to go until they start streaming Yes, I'm still up so I'll be tuning in after all.
