Live and Exclusive from Hargeisa: Q A with Alpha Blondy

Most Somalis are quite dark, that's a "normal" skintone. A lot of women in Hargeisa abuse skin lightening products and wear pale makeup that looks more like a mask. -

Studies in Ireland, as it is the country I know most, shows that majority of car accidents are caused by women, and majority alone, I mean that 187 lives were lost this year alone on road accidents, 80% of them involved women drivers, this was on the news recently. The Saudis are right or the sheikh is right in preventing women from driving to use any method or language, he can even say women driving causes breasts to shrink! What do you know, mods troll too! Provide sources, because all the evidence points to the contrary, which is why men (particularly young men) generally pay higher insurance rates than women.

A crappy Sunday morning here in Boston, I didn't even plan to get up this early but it's only 13 degrees outside and my apartment is freezing I don't think my building turns the heat on until October 1st.

Miyir;979826 wrote: lol saffers stop looking excuse, I'm not going to drive you around:mad: I've been driving since age 16 Miyir Miskiin-Macruuf-Aqiyaar;979825 wrote: Why are recently married women in Western world pressured to take their new husband's name, as though she was a property from one ownership to another? And worse, in this day, she still becomes a Mrs -- Mister's . So, she belongs to the mister. Again, as though she was a property, the way they treated them and still do. Westerners with this kind of subjugating culture cannot and should not tell others how to live. Why did I bring this into this thread? Because Reer Galbeed ayaa buun buuniyo waxaan, qashinkoodana ma arkaan dhaqan ay ka dhigteen. There's no logic whatsoever in this post. "Western" women (it's not a monolith, and not all Western cultures have the practice of taking their husband's last name) are neither pressured nor are they legally FORCED to adopt their new husband's name, and women in Western countries have as many rights under the law as their male counterparts. Trying to compare gender issues in the West to those of Saudi women living under a medieval government is a losing argument, and I can't believe your response to this article is to get defensive. There is no reason whatsoever to bar women from driving.

From Al-Arabiya Saudi women seeking to challenge a de facto ban on driving should realize that this could affect their ovaries and pelvises, Sheikh Saleh bin Saad al-Luhaydan, a judicial and psychological consultant to the Gulf Psychological Association, told Saudi news website sabq.org. Driving “could have a reverse physiological impact. Physiological science and functional medicine studied this side [and found] that it automatically affects ovaries and rolls up the pelvis. This is why we find for women who continuously drive cars their children are born with clinical disorders of varying degrees,” Sheikh al-Luhaydan said. Saudi female activists have launched an online campaign urging women to drive on Oct. 26. More than 11,000 women have signed the oct26driving.com declaration that says: “Since there are no clear justifications for the state to ban adult, capable women from driving. We call for enabling women to have driving tests and for issuing licenses for those who pass.” Sheikh al-Luhaydan urged these women to consider “the mind before the heart and emotion and look at this issue with a realistic eye.” “The result of this is bad and they should wait and consider the negativities,” he said.

Likewise again, one meal a day with this liquid diet because I need some carbs to workout. Strange enough and after a while, your body forgets what food tastes like. So swallowing food becomes difficult. Have you gained the weight back yet, Khayr?

Sorry guys, decided not to go to the Abdiweli talk this evening... three women were robbed in my neighborhood last night, in two different attacks (struck in the head, knocked to the ground and had their cellphones stolen), and my paranoia is keeping me from walking back to my apartment alone tonight if I can help it. Can any of you make such a bold claim? Me too, but context has a lot to do with that... no doubt clan is less important to you when you're not surrounded by it and it doesn't structure every aspect of the society you live in. But I wouldn't say most Somalis back home harbour ill will against other clans, either.

lol what's up with Burco? That's where the reporter was trolling people asking them to say their numbers in Somali in that other video, wasn't it?

Wadani;979711 wrote: I know that Saffs, but I'm talking to those who still use 'Og@denia' in a colloquial way. They can easily say Somali galbeed if they support independence or Kilinka Shanaad if they dont. I really dislike the term "Somali galbeed," I think it's even worse that calling it @gadenia because it reduces questions of self-determination to Somali irredentism, which has very different goals than independence. @gadenia may not be inclusive, but it doesn't simplify the issues of the region to a border dispute between Somalia and Ethiopia. Calling it the Somali Regional State/kilil 5aad doesn't mean you don't support the Ethiopian government either. On a related note, I didn't actually hear anyone there refer to the region as @gaden/@gadenia.

Wadani;979706 wrote: What ever floats your boat. I can only speak for myself by saying that if I were an OG I would be a proponent of a name change for the region and for ONLF itself, so that all Somali clans in the region could be under the fold and feel enfranchised. Weren't u the same guy who had a rant yesterday about the myopic Somali outlook of my clan vs you clan instead of my nation vs your nation? U need to swallow the pill before writing prescriptions abti. It's not called "@gaden" anymore, it's called the Somali Regional State officially, in part because that's more inclusive to the clans and ethnic groups that live there.

Thanks man. Abdiweli Gaas is speaking here tomorrow, any burning questions you guys would like me to ask?

Khadafi;979630 wrote: Safferez by the way did you succseed in the bullshitting through the discussions ? lol! Remember when I tried that once, my examiner just said "hmmm...your intresting BUT what are you talking about! lol yes! I did really well, but the stress leading up to it will ensure I don't pull something like that again. My oral examination is in the spring, but I meet with each of my four examiners every month or so to go over what I've read as a sort of mock exam, so it's just as intimidating and awful. Not to mention if you sound dumb during these sessions, they won't expect much from you on exam day, so in many ways you pass or fail your exam based on how you do during these monthly meetings.

Blackflash;979545 wrote: Much of what you said is true, but I think it's arguable that Canada has by far the most violent Somali community in the west. Relative to our population there have been years where the Somali-Canadian homicide rate has reached as high as 24 per 100,000, which is much higher than Chicago's 16 per 100,000. That's a poor point of comparison, since you're isolating one demographic (Somalis in Canada) and comparing it to an entire city's homicide rate. A more accurate comparison would be something like African Americans in Chicago, which would look drastically different (34+ per 100,000). That said, it doesn't excuse that disproportional violence, and I'm at a loss for explaining what's going on with Somali-Canadian boys, because it doesn't make much sense at all. Nin-Yaaban;979564 wrote: What i have noticed about Canada is, they really go to great pains to appear civilized, mild-mannered polite people to the world. Canada does have crime, but it's just that they don't report it (even to their citizens) so they can keep up their appearance of being crime free society. With the U.S, at least what u see is what you get, and they don't pretend anything. And you also have the right to carry a gun for protection. You don't have that in Canada. Once again... huh? Is it just your gut feeling that there's a massive Canadian coverup of violent crime, or do you have statistical evidence to back that up? I won't even get started on your point about gun possession in the US, but I'm sure you know that gun culture is part of the reason the US is the most violent country in the Western world.

Nin-Yaaban;979507 wrote: What Safferz forgot to mention is, the rampant crime, stabbings, shootings, drug infested slums in Dixon, police raids, Somali homicides, corrupted cops who like to write bogus tickets, Indians, Pakis, Jamaicans, wanted fugitives from the U.S, and did i mention Somali criminals who shoot at each other. If that's your thing, than you'd fit right in with 'em. Huh? Canadian cities have some of the lowest crime rates for North American cities of comparable size, hardly "rampant crime," and the overall crime rate in Canada has been steadily on the decrease since the 1970s. We have low income neighbourhoods like Dixon, but nothing that remotely resembles a slum or even an American inner city. And what's wrong with Indians, Pakistanis and Jamaicans?
