  3. Baashi, you're not the only one walaal I've noticed as well. I have to agree with Shaqsi here in that much of the hostility is in the politics section with constant criticism and resentment between the nomads...and the worse thing is much of that stems from qabiil and land disputes... "you're from this land and your ppl are this and that...oh your land or region doesn't even exist...who are you to decide cuz it existed way before your region"  Dhoocilo is rifaya waxaan ahayn kama garatid walahi. It's extremely shocking to see the amount of deep hatred some nomads have towards other somalis mainly because of qabiil, Subxana'Allah. Some people just don't have the slighest clue about politics and it really makes you lose interest and not participate in that section at all. And it also makes you wonder, if our so called "younger" generation is thinking along this line, how will we ever make a difference and reach somewhere as a nation?
  4. OG_Moti, I don't think there was anything wrong with what you said to somaliland queen...Somalis are all the same whether some wanna consider themselves different or not, and we all need to learn our history no matter what "region" of Somalia we happen to come from. It's quite sickening to hear this constant northern, southern talks that seems be increasing in this site nowadays...Ugh  I honestly wish if some somalis could stop being so paranoid and start loving their sisters/brothers for the sake of Allah(swt) if not for the sake of being from the same nation.
  5. It's quite sad to see that so much discrepancy exists between the girls and guys in our community. I don't mean to oversimplify or point fingers at our brothers but it's the truth in most cases, although things are looking better now. I think as someone mentioned earlier the problem has to do with the family/value system. Most parents wish for their kids to succeed yet they don't put enough effort. Most boys today grow up without father figures and there's only so much a mother alone who was already struggling with different roles can do. And the few families that have fathers, well they're busy hanging out in some cafe talking about somali politics or they're somewhere eating qaad and God knows what, so when will they have time to spend quality time with their boys or kids. It's extremely important for boys to have some sort of guide during their developing years and if they miss that it will definitely have a great impact on them as adults. For example, the importance of education, both secular and religious, is not emphasized enough in some households and kids are not motivated enough to set goals for themselves nor are they shown any sign of appreciation. Thus, some kids/teens don't have many aspirations in life. Parenting is the most challenging job one can do because every parent is obligated to devote their time and effort when it comes to raising their kids, they are the ones who can best prepare the kid to become an individual who's safe to himself and to his society, and one who knows his rights, responsibilies and most importantly his purpose in this world. Therefore, any change has to start at this level before we can see any difference in our youth.
  6. It does make one wonder what the motive is for bringing so many of them. But seriously, I can't blame them for not wanting to go back...I do personally remember the amount of prejudice and segregation they used to face. Somalis can be so inhumane sometimes, subhanallah. I just hope they don't forget their deen.
  7. some of those books listed seem very interesting...unfortunately I'm not much of a reader but I will try some Isha'Allah!

If I recall, all I said was ILAAHAY HA SOO HADEEYO!!! Gedid...sorry walal, you're very much entitled to your opinion.

  10. The more we see pictures like this, the more it just reminds us of what we've lost and we probably will never gain back and it's just frustrating walahi. Jamal...I love that painting, don't they make copies? I'm sure there's good somali painters.

  13. I think this is a great step towards success and mobilization...they sure have my support as long as it will serve the purpose of a "university" and represent everyone equally!

That's, despite that oral sex is not Haram, it is completely disgusting and does not conform to the pure taste and decency of a Muslim personality. I think that sums it up. May Allah(swt) prevent us from conforming to the norms of the west!
  21. what do we need a marriage forum for?...what could you possibly discuss considering the fact that the vast majority of the nomads are not married. But I do agree with us needing a health forum...we just need to be more aware of health issues.
  22. Originally posted by Mobb_Deep: is it oversimplified to say that women in their 20s and 30s are choosing careers over childbearing? I don't think it's an oversimplification but rather a reality that we face everyday. however, I think it's mainly because of education rather than career that many women postpone marriage/children. It has to do with this era we're in where women have the the ability to follow their hearts and their dreams. And they really wanna go all the way and determine their potentials. As princess mentioned, one major factor that plays a great role in delaying marriage on our part is finding that damn "Mr. Right" although I'm personally beginning to question his existence, lol, but seriously it's a lingering question that frustrates many who are ready. For instance, my best friend got into law recently and my other friend got accepted into a PhD program, and I asked them both, I said guys, you have both commited to programs that are lengthy and that will require 100% of your time and dedication, so where does marriage and family fit into your plans and Walahi...they both said that they're willing to sacrifice and take time off if again, that "right" guy comes along. I think we all want to follow the Sunnah and create families of our own one day Insha'Allah and I think as Somali women with high imaan we are strong enough to balance both professional and family lives...but at the end of the day it all depends on what Allah (swt) has in store for each and everyone of us!
  23. Lol@underdog...buddy, just cuz girls like diamonds doesn't mean they're materialistic ya know, you'll even find most girls buying it themselves.
  24. Ilhaam, I heard that too...are you going? It would be fun, I really like sangub, I think he's hilarious but the sad thing is I still haven't seen part one...who knows I might still get the hang of it.
  25. OG...poor thing, wax ku damiinta ma lawaayay? Well don't worry, I'll bail ya out...what is $150 grand when it comes to a nice brotha like you. Ok, here's my prosecution. Defendant ========= Mr. Darman Charge ========= I would hereby like to charge Darman with his recent game mania and nonsensical threads like this and his continued distraction to reputable members who would otherwise contribute positively to the site. Sentence ========= Lifetime Bail ========= $500 grand Appeal: Allowed only on the condition that he will spend 50% less time on sol, and use that time wisely! cool song though
