AVOID *Fried and fatty foods. o Foods containing too much sugar. o Over-eating especially at sehri. o Too much tea at sehri. Tea makes you pass more urine taking with it valuable mineral salts that your body would need during the day. Obviously this association did not look into the Somali community, cuz that's what our normal diet comprises let alone during ramadan. And can you guys imagine stopping shaaax? Very useful dietary guidelines though...esp for suxuur. I've seen ppl eat baasto iyo suugo or bariis for suxuur...I wonder how they get through the day without heartburn and discomfort. Ilhaam...thanks hon, I gotta remind my mom to buy more almonds next time, lol.

As Muslims, it's recommended (not a must) for us to learn the arabic language in order to be able to understand the Qur'an in its originality, as no other language can convey its message exactly as the laguage in which it was revealed.

Lucky...may Allah make it easy for you guys Insha'Allah. I have some family there, and alhamdulilah things are ok so far...but it's horrifying not knowing how far the fires will reach

Originally posted by FirstLady: here to make another play where "theee brethen' is used. lol...sorry but I just had to laugh at that. Maybe whomever used it is just into Shakespearean dialect! Isn't it their prerogative to speak in whichever way they please? I don't know where some people get off thinking that whomever uses "big words" or vocab is merely doing it for the sake to impress others   This is funny walahi. Your level of undertanding of the English language or how sophisticated you write/speak the language is not a reflection of your intellegence nor your level of education. But some somalis sadly have the misconception that it is. English is just like any other language...a form of communication...and to many of us, it's nothing more than a means to an end. I've even seen some members of this forum who say to others words like...."expand your vocab" or "your english is broken" and etc. just to offend the others as though this was our native tongue. Like, how absurd, honestly!! And the whole thing with the grammar?? Dad cajiib ah baanu nahay walee. -
Thanks for posting them dear. I always try and memorize them but I keep forgeting some

Really?...As much as I'm a mommy's girl, that night belongs to none other than me and that lucky guy! But I feel you on the other stuff, I've often wondered about it myself...so yea, why not eat your own wedding's food and dance a little and have FUN...after all, it's YOUR NIGHT...but I wouldn't wanna go as far as niikis and buraanbur...I don't do that as a guest led alone as the bride. Captivating...naga kala aayar bahasha dee...we know your gonna sit and look all pretty and shy the whole night

Ala dadku dhib jeclaa...who cares if they're somali or not...and if they are, how many somali singers or nonsingers for that matter wear skimpy clothes or are totallly lost....how are these girls any different? Just pray inuu ilaahay soo hadeeyo hadaad ka naxeysaan...then you would be simply doing them a great favour as Muslims!!

Subhanalah...I heard about another similar incident in Sweden...I wonder what this world is coming to. All we can do is keep our faith in Allah(swt) strong and he will serve us justice!

Sabaayad (my mom's kind) and zigni(with hilib or chicken and boiled eggs)...oh and Cadriyad, haven't had it in a long time...too bad they're made with lots of butter and if I tell my mom I love those dishes, she'll make them like everyday. Sweets...I'm not a sweets person but I can never refuse Gulab Jamu.

Calaynaa wa calaykum brother Nur...Jazaka Allah for the great reminder...walaalo, Allah ha kuu sahlo umuurahaaga Insha'Allah. I'm very excited about ramadan...someone really needs to boost her Imaan and get closer to Allah(swt) and what better way than ramadan. May Allah (swt) guide us all to the right path!
