Sheeku iyo nus baan hayaa soomaha ...must be the allnighter I was pulling.
  2. Inaa Lilaah wa inaa ileyhi raajicuun...may Allah grant them janah. what happened there this year was horrendous, it just keeps getting worse to perform the hajj nowadays....my own aunt was almost killed during the Dawaaf this yr. I think the best thing to do when performing hajj is to follow someone who's experienced.
  3. I saw the model of this "manmade" island before but I never knew they were done already...very elegant indeed. I shall meet you too, next yr before hajj insha'allah...the beach alone will do it for me(that's how desperate I am for a vacation).
  4. ^^^Alla lakadsanidaa, waaba laguu sheegayaa oo lagu leeyahay, they made an outstanding presentation, what more do you want to hear iisheeg. I'm very happy for hanad and the team...let us know what the presentation was about will ya. P.S I know I've seen the one with the glasses somewhere...is he a member of the mssu.

  6. PhD at 22? What state is it that you guys live by the way...cuz I might wanna do my studies there, lol. Seriously though, Masha'Allah...he must be very blessed, it usually takes ppl 5+ years to work on their thesis. About your search, I wish I could help you more but I guess his best bet would be to become a member of any MSA...almost all of the North American Universities have one, even if the Muslim population is small...It's usually an effective way to meet Muslims.

I've wondered that myself...I think it's due to their double standards. Many believe that a woman should not care about a man's looks ie. nin waa nin, qurux laguma raaco sort of mentality(yea right)...when on the other hand, they think a woman is all about looks, therefore, she should look perfect( which of course includes fairness in their rather strange perception) Masha'Allah, nowadays younger women are choosing to be smart about these disastrous chemicals...I think!
  8. JZK walal...that was a very useful reminder. I think most of us remember Allah swt the most during the fourth state and put less emphasis on remembrance during other states. May Allah help us sustain our awareness of him all throughout our lives. I have a question though....does ghaflah have another meaning when it's being associated with death?...yacni when someone says, oh that was mowtul ghaflah...what does that mean exactly?
  9. A very interesting read indeed. Usually, I'm not too big on Somali tales just cuz it takes me quite a bit of time to get through them...but with this one, I have to admit, the unique or the unusual names of the characters sort of lured me in. When I saw the name Qamaan and a "true tale", I thought this was a story written by Qamaan Bulxan whose work I'm interested in learning more about. Nevertheless, it's still a nicely written peace...can't wait to read the rest!
  10. Ughhh, this girl gets on my last nerve walahi. The girl needs to be taught some serious lessons! I honestly could care less about her sexual orientation, but what's worrisome is the message she's trying to spread about Islam with her "Islam needs to be reformed" crap. Subhanallah, It's not like we don't already have enough issues to deal with as Muslims in the west (or everywhere for that matter), and the last thing we need right now is such an ignorant person who claims to be a Muslim yet badmouths Islam like this. I was watching some of her dabates with prof al-masri and Badawi, and I was actually very disgusted with her level of arrogance. Thank God the profs were doing their best to control themselves cuz God knows how the regular Muslim would've reacted in their position. At the end of the day, I believe it's a test from Allah (swt) for the rest of us, a wake-up call to reflect on our current status as Muslims. We will face challenges like these and even more difficult ones as we have been told in the Qur'an. So bro's and sis's, let's increase our knowledge about Islam and do the best we can to enforce Dacwa. May Allah show us all the right path!

    Sisters

Wa alaikumu salam bro. Don't the sisters already share their views and opinions in this forum  well aside from the occasional times where some guys just love jumping down their throats so they figure they have better things to do than to argue...I'd guess. Thanks for bringing this up though
  12. Originally posted by ProudSista: I don´t want to search no more Then don't! Honestly. I see a lot of girls in this predicament where they're constantly searching for that "Mr. Right" or "Mr. Perfect" and they never find him because he's only a figment of their own imagination. There's nothing wrong with seeking certain qualities in a potential husband, however, if you're actively searching with a clear cut picture of every aspect of that person in your mind...then chances of you coming across an individual who fits that specific profile is really next to nothing. I hope I don't sound unempathetic but I'd just hate to see poor girls set themselves up for a big disappointment in life. so sweetie, as some of the sisters suggested...have trust in Allah (swt), leave it up to him, and pray to him to bring you that one whom you deserve and who deserves you. P.S What's so exciting about marriage? (rhetorical!)....beats me!
  13. Happy birthday girrl...may you have many more healthy and prosperous years to come Insha'Allah. Don't worry, I'll be FedExing my gift
  14. Originally posted by Tamina: 10,000 muslims  I Know   I had to literally hold my cousins' hands cuz once you lose someone there it'd take hours before you find them again. Masha'Allah, It was an amazing convention. I have never seen anything like this before in this country. It was an undescribable experience for me personally because I've learned so much from some of the speakers (though all were very informative). Honestly, their lectures seemed as though they were specifically targeting me in terms of the points they were touching on and how I could relate to those points. So I came back home ready to CHANGE and do something about my current state as a Muslim ( I must say, DR. Tariq Swaidan with his lec's on success and change has had an immense impact on me). Just the sight of so many Muslims united for the love of Allah (swt) and with the intention of improving their knowledge in Islam and interacting with their brothers and sisters was just beautiful all around!! We really do have to thank Allah (swt) for giving us the opportunity to organize such a great conference so freely in a country that belongs to Kuffars and esp in a time where there's so much negativity being portrayed about Islam and Muslims. Like one of the speakers said ( I believe it was Tariq Ramadan), we as North Americans, esp Canadians DO have the opportunity to do something about the current situation of Muslims worldwide, and it is up to us and only us to decide to make a difference. May Allah guide us all, strengthen our Iman, and give us the capacity to make that difference. Amiin. Insha'Allah, I will try and share my lecture notes with you guys once I organize them. All of you who couldn't make it...I strongly urge you to buy the video tapes! I must admit, I'm very proud of our Somali sisters. Masha'allah, Masha'Allah again to the number of sisters who participated and some who were even volunteering...I really do commend them for getting involved in events like this and learning about their deen, also the families who've attended (mainly mothers with their daughters). However, I was quite disappointed with our guys considering how only few showed up. Insha'Allah we should pray for them and for all of us. P.S. Tamina, sadly enough Ilhaam and I couldn't make it today so pls do fill us in and share your notes with us...esp shaikh Hamza's and Dr. tariq's lectures.
  15. ^^lol By Gediid: the whole point I was trying to make is beyond you and for me to try to explain would be an exercise in futility. What would be utterly futile is for me to bicker here as it is not my style, but I was just so tempted to reply one more time and the last time Originally posted by Gediid: Nafisa I think you only have one thing going here for you and thats the choice of words you have chosen. Huh? Whether we are sadistic men or not is a point to be proven in the future. Sadly enough, some people are already a living proof! I haven't really seen or heard in Qurbe a Somali brother being accused of rape Well you haven't seen much then. Maybe you should learn a bit more about your own community and see for yourself the sad reality that surrounds Somalis in qurbe everyday. It's not rare to see boys being charged of murder for stabbing one another to death, or being charged for rape not just against whites but against their own Somali sisters among many other awful criminal charges. Lemme just say this tho quote: I THINK I HAVE MORE RESPECT FOR SOMALI WOMEN THAN YOU COULD EVER POSSIBLY FATHOM Ahem..my 1st rxn was...qalbigaaga iyo nuurkaaga!!...but since you are a Somali brother, I'll give you the benefit of the doubt here. I'm sure you have tremendous amount of respect for all women and bahalkooda baas... before you jumped the gun and your veins started bursting OPEN I think you should have read the article thoroughly at least twice and then made a sound judgement of what you wanted to say instead of generalizing Who's jumping the gun here? Where did I generalize? In case you haven't noticed, the only comment I made about the case itself was the fact that I wouldn't be surprised if he's convicted, and again this is because I have witnessed way too many cases where some somalis have chosen to ignore their deen and do all sorts of things their deen prohibits and as a result, they find themselves in the worst type of scenarios...Ilaahay ha soo hadeeyo lakiin horaa loo yidhi, nin soo joog laga waayay soo jiifsaa laga helaa. So walal, it's good to know that "somalinimo" means so much to you (at least in this case) to the extent where you are willing to dismiss the possiblity that he might actually be the guilty one here and also jump to the conclusion that since she is a white lil girl from small suburban town, she's out there to get revenge on this poor lil somali boy. this is an accusation that concerns a SOMALI BROTHER and a WHITE GIRL most probably from the boonies and its too often that we hear in the news a former "WHITE GIRLFRIEND" accusing her ex of rape after she has lived with him. To me, race does not make any difference when it comes to such an atrocious criminal act as rape. You simply cannot justify it because the alleged individual happens to be of your own ethnicity or religion and so forth. It is wrong and should not be committed against any woman regardless of her color. Even if they were living together and he still enforced himself onto her while she refused...that counts as rape!! Allah knows best, so if he is innocent, may justice prevail. Now, I will take Libaax's word for it when he says you're clever and assume that you won't take this personal for this was a mere attempt on my part to clarify things up for ya. lakkad...

I AM AFFRAID REYALEE AND ALIKE MIGHT EVEN SELL THIER RELIGION MERELY TO PLEASE AMAXARO. Haven't they already? I mean what else is left when you expose your brothers and sisters in ISLAM merely fighting for their freedom against kuffars (true meaning of jihad). I wonder when they will stop kissing the A$$ of the kufars...what will they get out of it?..anything more than a little pat on the shoulder and a job well done...your the best dabadhilifs Ethiopia ever had, now go on and get us some more of your people to make the prey list of the day?? Subaxanallah. The end might justify the means to these people for now, but Allah (swt) is just and they will surely get their jazaa!!! Sayfulaah...very well said walal!
  17. Originally posted by Gediid: how can this be rape when bahalka baas eey habeen kasta la soo hor joogto.  This trully shows the sadistic mentality of some Somali men and how they view women. "oh if a woman is in front of you looking all good then feel free to rape the heck outta her because she's asking for it" And for goodness sake, could you not come up with a better way of wording this than "bahalka baas" ?? Akhas caleek, very shameful walaahil cadiim.  This is extremely offensive to women and should be deleted by the admin. As for the boy, I wouldn't be surprised if he really did it...after all, we have ppl thinking like this among us...wanacuudu bilaah.

  21. Oh I'm so excited about this convention, bought the tickets like a month ago (btw, they're going very fast everyone)...can't wait to see Imam Sudais live...my whole family is coming, my mom just loves him, I'm sure he'll be leading the prayers Insha'Allah, so we'll get a tiny feeling of what it's like to pray in the Xaram Insha'Allah. Oh and my favourite shaikh, Xamza Yusuf, the man is absolutely amazing and all the other talented shaikhs as well, wouldn't miss this for anything!! You actually learn a lot from these conferences...I missed last year's and I kept regretting the whole year....please guys, make every effort to come and to urge others to come Insha'Allah. About somalis...quite a few do actually come, many are coming from my town, I also know ppl who are coming from Ottawa....but reer tdot, esp reer khalid Bin waliid... I don't know, for some odd reason you don't see many in events like this...maybe they're just not well informed  So Miss Ilhaam...westiga adigaa lagu xil saaray hadaba...I expect to see guush dhan oo kudaba socda ok
  22. No waaay, gosh I missed a lot...flying, waaku sidee dee saa la'iskuma ogeynee. Mabruuk xabibti, guur wacan oo wanaagsan...kuwii farxad iyo khayr ku waara ilaah ha idinka dhigo. ***leaves iyadoo alalaaseysa***
  23. This is shocking news walaahi! I can't believe the incidence rate is so high, and I'm assuming this rapid increase is just post civil war. And considering the fact that this is a third world country with basically no health care system...can AIDS become endemic in our country? Subhanallah...and I can't imagine this horrible disease spreading to rural areas, where girls are given away so easily as long as some oday comes by with 50 or 100 halaad the most, not knowing what the hell he's infected with...or even worse, not even knowing if such disease exists at all...this is just sad!!! Allahu manajina...may Allah protect us all!
