Originally posted by Ducaqabe: Abraar: Don't you think Khimaar & Khatar sound a bit too Arabic. Well they are Arabic to begin with walal, so hadii aanu marka horeba soo xadney, why must we abuse the words, sidey yihiin maanu ku isticmaalno? Abraar, you're (mistakenly) assuming the North made the original words and the South changed them. If that were the case, a Southerner would then been called khaldaan No huuno, you are the one who's assuming that I was alluding to the North (I was actually referring to words borrowed from the arabic language), well in that case, neither did it originate from the south nor the north, I say it all began from the west Besides, I was under the impression the word 'khaldaan' was coined for a different reason (about which I wouldn't know much-perhaps MMA can tell us) Faarax: yac mataqanaa, xeey tahay qaraarkaa sheegesid

I'm not surprised at all that this type of hate-inspired rhetoric is coming from Denmark. The notion of diversity, tolerance and multiculturalism is incredibly foreign to these ppl with whom I've had the unfortunate luck of living with for years. I can only imagine how prejudice and discrimination against minorities has heightened to paramount level after 9/11. I'm content with how the Islamic leaders have decided to deal with this. What's also commendable is how the EU,UN and the Council of Europe have all condemned the Danish gov't for not holding their press accountable (or so I've read); at least not all European countries share their sentiments. However, what disappointed me a bit is how certain furious Muslims are threatening to bomb and kill innocent folks--adds fuel to the fire and only proves certain westerners' preconceived notion of Islam being a religion of the sword and bloodshed Originally posted by Paragon: They have tried demonizing the Muslim mass in their media previously, and when we didn't react and we have ignored it, they have moved a ladder up their testing attacks. Now it is our Prophet (pbuh), and tommorrow? You take a guess. Exactly, it becomes a slippery slope unless we stand up collectively and take a firm stance against this. Let's not forget to all petition Insha'Allah. ps: I'm afraid this will set an example for every raging Islamaphobic attention-seeking freak out there: Check this Blog I came across

Ala maxaan baryihii hore ee Sol u xiisaa sometimes. I must say, the Islamic section has been shib shib these days as well which reminds me some real baafis is due here (this will make Wiilo's day ). I wonder whatever happened to brother Muhammad these days, his thought-provoking excerpts from the Qur'an are dearly missed. -
I feel you sis! It's anything BUT flattering, and quite degrading if you ask me (assuming of course you're referring to males here)...to me, even those who look beyond the 1st gaze would make me extremely uncomfortable let alone hadal lagugu tuuro. While it's quite unlikely for a modest muslimah who's covered from head to toe to get complementing remarks on appearance from total strangers (the beauty of hijab, alhamdulilah), I wouldn't spare them a 2nd thought/look if it did ever take place. However, what I personally happen to find quite bothersome is compliments coming from those whom you actually know (ie Muslim male acquaintances), and although they may mean it well and it may just be their way of showing utmost respect and admiration (while some have completely different intentions) , it's still lacking in Islamic etiquette and I make sure I let them know. Nevertheless, I consider it an awakening call for it shows that I might've slipped a bit and revealed a bit more than I should have. From females, I'm quite indifferent, of course I would still show appreciation and reciprocate (sincerely)

^What I blieve the sister is referring to is Sponsoring a child rather than adopting which is clearly prohibited in Islam, as you've also said. Sponsoring a child (the poor, orphan etc.) is a deed that's considered extremely righteous in Islam and very much encouraged ; there's an authentic hadeeth of the prophet (saw) where he said the one who takes kafila for a child will be beside him in Jannah (not exact wording). With the depressing plight of many muslims around the world today and the ever-increasing number of orphaned, displaced, impoverished children, we should give this more consideration Insha'Allah and perhaps sponsor at least one child (esp since many Muslim relief/humanitarian org's are making it feasible for you to do it without you having to bring the child here). Motherhood is the easiest thing in the world. Any id!ot, fool, loser can bear a child. Sis, bearing a child is one of the greatest gifts Allah bestows upon us, and although some of us usually take this for granted, not everyone gets so fortunate in receiving this precious gift. I Know this lady who's been married for more than 15 yrs and has been trying to get pregnant for the longest time but still hasn't, though she's quite patient and Allah has given her a husband with great Imaan, I can only imagine her continuous yearning and distressing. I pray inuu Allah iyada iyo inta imtixankaa ku jirta oo idil siiyo ubad.

Salam, Walal, Ilaahay Kheyr ha ku siiyo inaad dib inoo soo xasuusisey thread-kan oo aad qiimo u leh. Anu waxaa aad iiga fajiciya sida dhibka yar uu baadilku ku askumo islamarahaantaana ku fido, waxan filaya taana waxaa keeneysa tiirarka badan uu heli karo. kolkaan ku noqdo point-ga ah inuu Ilaahay caza wajal dadka qaarkii kuwo kale ku imtixaano (I've witnessed someone close to me who was recently inflicted with a painful ordeal which was a test to their Imaan to a great degree), Waxaan aad ula yabaa qof Muslim ah ood ogtahay inuu xaqii garanayo oo Ilaahay cabsidisii ka muuqato-at least on the surface-hadanna ku kacaya ficilkii badilka, Subhanallah, ibtila aad u weyn weeye walee. That particular incident literally proved to me the power of shaitan on the hearts of believers, even those who seemed to have had a strong immunity against him and how easily he can divert them and compel them to do wrong against others (and themselves). Ilaahay kuwii marwalba xaqa ku socda ha inaga dhigo!

^salam, not was it only an exellent story of knowledge but one that also illustrated mankind's dire need for guidance and great virtues such as patience, humility, respect...even Prophet Muhammad (saw) regretted prophet Musa's (as) hastiness during his encounter with Khidr for had he remained patient, he would have imparted more wisdom. Ibn kathir's tafsir of the Qur'an (with excellent commentaries explaining the context in which ayahs were revealed) is a great source of reference if you would like to read the complete story: The story of Musa and Al-Khidr. Also, if you read further down the Surah, you will come across ayah's supporting the claim of him being a prophet and a reference to why he was called al-Khidr. While you're at it, let me suggest to you to also read the incredible story of prophet Musa (as) who was as you may know one of the five greatest prophets and extremely unique in that he was the only Prophet with whom Allah (swt) had bestowed the ability of speaking to Him directly...the story is related in many surahs in the Qur'an but surah Ta-Ha describes it in great detail. Enjoy.

It's the best way of forming a close relationship with Allah (swt) and seeking His pleasure, May He, the most merciful, be pleased with us. Ameen. And just as we should seek His help in all of our deeds and affairs, we should seek His help in remembrance. A good supplication to recite during every prayer is Rabanna a'inaa 'alaa dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni ibaadatika. You should try fishing come summer, I assure you nothing beats it's ultra-tranquilizing effect, given of course you pick just the right lake. Oh and do try horseback riding, it's absolutely fantasticos though it's been like ten yrs since I've tried ...I've heard there's great trails in central/southern Ontario which only encourages me to sign up for some lessons this coming summer Insha'Allah. ps: SB, lol...most Canadians follow Islam, they just don't know yet!

Walal, kol hadii gabadha lasoo qabay iyadaa is bixin karta, yacni haa-da ku siin karta. At the same token, meherku aqbal ma noqonayo hadii qofkii wali u ahaa uunan joogin ama ka warqabin. So basically, you will need her guardian present for the actual marriage contract. Hope that helps PS: I always thought qaalin had something to do with hasha geela

^lol, good one! I'm feeling a slightly different melody here... Kam Tashtaki (Many You Complain)- by Ahmed Bukhatir Many you complain and say that you are poor While you own the earth, the sky and the stars The fields with their flowers, fragrances, the breeze and the singing nightingale are all yours Water is all around you like sparkling silver Sun is above you like burning gold The light builds and sometimes destroys embellishing pearls On foots and at the tops The world received you so cheerfully So why are you gloomy And it smiled for you So why don't you smile If you are depressed for past glory How far it will return by sighs If you are afraid from befalling misfortunes How far it will be prevented by gloom Or if you have passed your youth Don't say time became old As time does not age Look still appearing from moist earth So beautiful pictures that they would almost speak

^I find them all somewhat strong, well except Lacoste. Seeing all this talk of perfumes makes me wanna pay a little visit to the mall to pick a fresh scent to add to my huge collection (perhaps Euphoria-quite unique or Be Delicious). For a while I was hooked on Eternity Love and it was surprisingly discontinued  (I can think of tons of other perfumes that are deserving of discontinuation, but this one or OUI by Lancome? )
