Useless government!! This is the sort of conflict that could have easily been dealt with locally. It should not have escalated to a religious conflict.

What a successful global awareness campaign. I admire these youth for their dedication, masha Allah. Sadly, they refused to come out to Western Canada, hence why I have yet to see the doc. Perhaps I will get to hear those stories in person some day in the near future.

^LoL. This is what I love about SOL. Good to see a Somali Family Day! Success, Insha Allah.

Alhamdulilah, I haven't been wearing a student's hat for quite sometime now -- but then again, can one ever claim that while in academia? I think not. But at least in the official, technical sense, yes, I am done. Oh and I lurk around here sometimes (like today, where I have done NOTHING in the past two hrs at work) for couple of reasons including when it dawns to me that I am incredibly disconnected from the Somali world and its affairs, and when I get sick of data/equations/simulation models and infectious diseases, LoL. At those moments, it sort of helps to be reminded of NG's strange sense of humour, for instance, or A&T's, waxaan ka sheegaba ma aqaan... Snowing in london? A disaster, eeh? LoL. Allah ha idiin fududeeyo, and I say that without any sense of sarcasm!

Wasalaam, my dear!! The feeling is mutual. I came here just to see your pretty and cheerful face! Things are well alhamdulilah -- I was wondering maxaad FB uga luntay these days, that's about the only place I have these days to keep in touch with people. How are you adigu? Hope bash bash iyo barwaaqo in London!

What exactly is your goal with this? Who is the target audience? Are you looking for some assistance with brainstorming issues that might be beneficial to cover on a show? Or something else altogether? This might bear some significance in the answers... Of topic a bit, but if I may, I'd like to suggest a gem of a book that I think all medical clinicians/health Scientists should be familiar with: Introduction to Syndemics by Merill Singer. Perhaps this will also inform some of the issues you will want to cover on a medical show, or the approach at the very least?

Salaam Sis. Insha Allah, sidaad ku faraxdo, oo kheyrku kuugu jiro Allah ha kuu sahlo!

Subhannalah. Isn't it amazing, how there are people like this man whom probably most Muslims were cursing prior to his conversion, and miraculously, the noor of Allah, His precious hidaaya, His mercy, descends upon them? Yet, there are those for whom you lose sleep, wishing and praying, so desperately, that Allah guides to the truth, because you believe (in your limited perception and wisdom) they fit the criteria so perfectly, with the most beautiful serene hearts ever deserving of Allah's mercy, but they just remain in their state of kufr (though I truly believe all the prayers will not go unanswered -- one day Insha Allah!). Still, it's a thought-provoking sign. Indeed, you don't guide whom you love, but Allah guides whom He so desires. It just fascinates me! Perhaps now more than ever before. Anyway, I still am happy for this man, Masha Allah

Hello everyone, or shall I say reer London! Sidee la yahay?

My deepest condolences to you and your family. May Allah have mercy on his soul, and accept all the duas for him.

The question should have contained the word 'some' infront of Somali men (because one's subjective views on a few cannot certainly be applied to all). If so, I would say: Complacency; lack of ambition, dedication, patience, and thirst for knowledge!

Walee Somalida wax walba waa laga maqli. Oo mey iyagu is caawiyaan marka hore, ooy wadan yeeshaan?

Somalis are doing for them selves - we are winning here!

Bismillah, masha Allah! I am very happy to see this. May Allah reward the teachers and parents behind their success much kheir. And may Allah facilitate the path of knowledge and success for our kids everywhere! Thanks to the poster, for sharing this good news. -
Salaam yaa jamaaca! Where's ibti when you need her? I could use some shaah with peppermint and sheeko today to make me forget about something that's been consuming my thoughts as of late!! Juxa, it's interesting how you know about that particular Timmy Ho's. You probably heard the notorious "I wanna dhabal dhabal" from the drive-through then , eh? Reer Toronto wey tageen though, they had this new Somali place (at least new to me) called Salaama Hut on my last visit -- both the shaah and cappuccino there were really good,as well as the beer and sabaayad, not to mention the incredibly awesome service (Allah wiilasho friendly-sanaa oo dadka out-of-towners ka ah detect garayn ogaa! )

A true tragedy walahi. I haven't been touched as much by recent incidents in Xamar. May Allah rest their souls in peace.

Wey igu cabeysay miyaa? 10 ku dhan baan aniguna ugu duceeyey Insha Allah I suspect my laptop is infected with some unknown pathogens - it's become so darn slow the past couple of weeks.

Hehe. Toloow Kuuriduna maxey ahayd? Perhaps Che can help translate? Juxa, Salaam walalo! It's been long since I've seen you on SOL. Hope all is well with you.

Masha Allah. Well done. I recognize some faces - God, I've missed Toronto.
-
Good to see you too, dear. I'm doing well. Not working today so I thought I'd stay up and wait for fajr, while pretending to be reading something useful, lol. Yes, Insha Allah, do pray istikhara about it - best wishes sis!

Ibti, you should give it a good consideration before you reject it, sweetie. I'd say get a break from the West! Enjoy the sun, tranquility, and beautiful beaches of Doha. As for Somalis, half my reer abti call it a home. I'd make sure they welcome you well - so don't you worry about loneliness Who knows, I might even join you in the near future. *Waves to Malika *

Ya Allah. I feel so isolated from Somalis and their affairs. It's a shame that I was informed of these events by a non-Somali friend. I wish I could be present in that MN event, and show my support. Insha'Allah, his recent tours will bear some fruit -- win some hearts, and serve as a uniting factor among all the divided factions by inspiring them.

What on earth, I did not realize the women was been brought like merchandise, the mehr is a GIFT to the wife, and you should have your gift at the time of the nikkah. What does your mehr have to do with your worth as an individual. You can even ask for some ice cream and sweets if that is what you fancy having at the time. Dear Ibti, you should know me better than that; it was a joke on my part! As for the talk of the worth, of course, I did state it wasn't the purpose of the Meher, but this was rather a feeling felt by some in that predicament about which I have been consulted some time ago. Lakiin, anigu, what do I know? Waligeeyba hooyadey iyo abahayba ma weydiisan lacag macdalaa nin qalaad!! If I were to make a suggestion to the brothers, I'd say they should put a figure on the table (if it has to be monetary gift), but they should incline towards the upper bound just to be on the safer side, a reasonable sister would then deduce from that how much she should be asking, in accordance with his abilities.
