  1. Kool KAT^, taking a picture helps when it comes to motivation. Take a picture of yourself every 2 or 4 weeks from the front and profile views, and compare them as you move on. Believe me once you see even the smallest progress, you'll want to keep working hard. Brofessor G, I used to work out on and off (more off than on) but for the last 2 months I was busy with uni work got in the way, so I couldn't dedicate enough time to exercise, and the diet was the hardest part. Believe me eating on regular basis isn't as easy as it sounds. Since Cadaan started this thread, I'm gonna report my progress weekly, hopefully that'll motivate me more.
  2. One of the ways to motivate yourself is seeing others succeed. If they can do it, so can you. They're not superhuman. Success 1 Success 2 Success 4 Success 3 www.bodybuilding.com This site is immensely helpful, don't be put off by the name, it's not about Mr Olympia style bodybuilding.
  3. Salaam cadaan Many people think that the only way to lose fat is by exercising, it's not. It's your diet. Of course exercising helps, but without a good diet you're just wasting time and effort. From what I've seen and experienced, the diet contributes to about 70% to your fat loss journey. Metabolism. You need a high level of that. One of the simplest ways to increase your metabolism is by eating regularly (healthy food, not xalwo or bajiyo), by regularly I mean 5 or 6 times a day, 3 main meals and 2/3 snacks. Or every 3 hours. Protein should make up a good part of every meal you eat as well. I'm also on a mission to lose some body fat and gain muscle, and I was thinking of starting a similar thread. Anyways I'll write more info later inshallah.
  4. I read most of this article and thought it was really interesting.. I noticed that some of the points apply to me too, cuz sometimes when I read the long(ish) messages posted here, I find myself losing focus after the first few lines and can't remember the point of the message a few minutes later. And I know that wasn't always the case. Anyways, this is a small summary of the article (which is pretty long) I pasted from Neatorama. ~Nicholas Carr started noticing the change in the way he thinks a few years ago, starting with his decreased ability to focus while reading books. When he mentioned his problem to his friends - most of them literary types - many said they’re having the same problem … the InterWeb is making them ******! The more they use the Web, the more they have to fight to stay focused on long pieces of writing. Some of the bloggers I follow have also begun mentioning the phenomenon. Scott Karp, who writes a blog about online media, recently confessed that he has stopped reading books altogether. “I was a lit major in college, and used to be [a] voracious book reader,” he wrote. “What happened?” He speculates on the answer: “What if I do all my reading on the web not so much because the way I read has changed, i.e. I’m just seeking convenience, but because the way I THINK has changed?” Bruce Friedman, who blogs regularly about the use of computers in medicine, also has described how the Internet has altered his mental habits. “I now have almost totally lost the ability to read and absorb a longish article on the web or in print,” he wrote earlier this year. A pathologist who has long been on the faculty of the University of Michigan Medical School, Friedman elaborated on his comment in a telephone conversation with me. His thinking, he said, has taken on a “staccato” quality, reflecting the way he quickly scans short passages of text from many sources online. “I can’t read War and Peace anymore,” he admitted. “I’ve lost the ability to do that. Even a blog post of more than three or four paragraphs is too much to absorb. I skim it.” What the internet is doing to our brains “We are not only what we read, We are how we read."
  5. I agree Northerner. Have you visited Tal? Opened 3 years ago? Shame I'd never heard of it during my stay. Will deefinetly try it next time inshallah.
  6. Hay fever! Never heard of using vaseline for that. I bought these useless pills but they didn't work. I slept with a completely blocked nose the other night, and kept waking up every hour to sip water cuz of my dry throat. What about the itchy eyes?
  7. lol Adam. I have received the goods, don't worry I'm on it.

    Meet BMW Gina

This is just mind blowing and very inspiring, a car made of cloth! I'm speechless. Car Magazine article: Who’d have guessed that BMW’s latest concept car would be made of cloth? The GINA Light Visionary Model – unveiled today – is a far-flung research concept from Munich that has shaped the latest generation of BMWs. This car can change shape and surface at the flick of a switch, and the 'GINA' principles it espouses have been used to craft today's BMW design language. Fancy flame surfacing today? No worries – tap a switch and your bodywork goes all taut-edged and angry. Prefer to go more classical and clean-edged? Not a problem. GINA does it all. BMW GINA: what it all means BMW design has been known to ruffle a few conservative feathers in the past, and today's disclosure of its GINA process is bound to raise eyebrows. Standing on its 20-inch alloys, the Light Vision Model concept looks like a modern-day BMW sports car, displaying taut sculpted muscles and the brand’s unmistakable signature form language of flame surfacing. Yet the Light Visionary Model is not made of metal but of cloth. The virtually seamless stretch fabric is secured on a meshwork of metal wires that shields the movable substructure beneath. Made of cloth?! Has Chris Bangle finally lost the plot? Bear with us here. The BMW group design director explained at length to CAR the method in his madness at a private viewing ahead of the official media launch in the newly renovated BMW museum in Munich. The Light Vision Model is part of a project that has shaped BMW design for a decade and led to ground-breaking developments such as iDrive and flame surfacing. It's the ultimate expression of the company's GINA design mantra. ‘The cloth can change your mind about what a car can be,’ he says mysteriously. LINK
  9. Salaam Most prayer timetables show two different times when it comes to the Fajr prayer, one called 'Fajr' and the second one called 'sunrise'. So for example, the fajr time is 3:00am and sunrise 4:30am, when should one pray? after 3:01am? I usually go for the middle, but I just want the answer for the sake of knowing it. Thanks
  10. The lady is asking 'Would you..', and not 'make a decision for me', so just drop your opinions here if you have an answer. That's all it is.. FirstLady, I personally would marry a girl I'm not attracted to, because I believe that attraction and love can come after marriage. Looks aren't everything (but there are limits!), but like you said he's not bad looking. Best advice on here was Chubacka's, perform the "Istikhaara" prayer. Between Isha and fajr prayer, pray 2 rakah's and then read the specific dua. By doing this your placing the whole issue into Allah's hands, and He will never let you down. Just remember that Allah once said you might like something now but it's bad for you, but you can hate something now which is the best thing for you. Pray Istikhara for 3 nights and Inshallah you're heart will be comfortable with a decision, either yes or no.
  11. This is coooool. Cheers Baashi Another website for the bookmark. it's 6:12am and i should get some sleep! o_O (Also watching the videos.)
  12. Thanks Pacifist, I didn't know about this website. I haven't watched all of the videos yet but the ones I saw were quite moving, especially the Dancing Queen. *It seems that a lot of people are trying to make a make a difference in the world and leave a mark, and I just feel like I'm missing out! Do you ever get that feeling? Mine just starts whenever i watch inspirational videos and stories, but then get stuck cuz of the lack of ideas. One day inshallah..
  13. They probably use it as bait, the same way they catch paedos.

  17. Man admits having sex with over 1000 cars! Artcicle: A man who claims to have had sex with 1,000 cars has defended his "romantic" feelings towards vehicles. "I appreciate beauty and I go a little bit beyond appreciating the beauty of a car only to the point of what I feel is an expression of love," he said. "I'm a romantic. I write poetry about cars, I sing to them and talk to them just like a girlfriend. I know what's in my heart and I have no desire to change." Mr Smith, 57, first had sex with a car at the age of 15, and claims he has never been attracted to women or men. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/howaboutthat/2000899/Man-admits-%27having-sex%27-with-1,0 00-cars.html'>Telegraph This takes the term 'tailgating' to a whole new level

    First car

Go to Autotrader.co.uk I'd stay away from Peugeot and Ford cars, Justice. You can't go wrong with German cars, but they are a little expensive. VW - Polo Renault - Clio Vauxhall - Corsa Nissan - Micra Toyota - Yaris Scotland auctions is the best place to find second hand cars like mentioned above. But i don't know the exact location. It would be helpful to know what your budget is.
  20. I got an adrenalin rush just by watching some of those videos, but I have been on a roller coaster before, 5 years ago in Blackpool. The worst part is at the beginning, when it rises slowly and then suddenly drops so fast, I couldn't breathe for a few seconds. On every twist it felt like I was gonna fly off the damn rails. 21. Sh!t Adam, sorry to read about your lost work (I'm assuming that's what happened?) I always use system restore/recovery, I don't know which one it is, but I have this tool in my PC called 'Undo MyPC', which like you mentioned above, restores your PC's condition to a previously saved state, usually when's it's virus free. That tool saved my computer on so many occasions. On the setting, I only select 'Drive C' to be affected by the restore, cuz usually a virus attacks the system files, so if you keep all your personal files in drive D, they should be safe. Having said that, I still use an external hard disk as backup. Has your 'project' been affected by this?
