I know that somali people in general don't believe in true friendship between females and males, but let's say that two people beat the odds. So Let's say that a female or male has a good friend of the opposite sex, just friends never anything else. YES We as a society mainly relay on personal images and how we present ourselves to others. But espically in Somali community i think it's more felt and harder for people of different nature to just disappear in the masses as it is within other communities. I think from my experiences, people are always looking for a way to judge or lable others, if not by tribalism shit then how u dress or behave? Being nice or anything has nothing to do with the real person because all we(majority) care about is what the illusion u provide of urself to others!!! But i say u got one life to live and u should be damned if u let some people try to tell u how and how u shouldn't do it. So to ur friend, if she is happy with herself and comfortable then it's all good. As i read this post, my first reaction is take the risk because without it u would always wonder what it might had been. although if it wasn't meant to be then that's that. But i got to tell u that as i finished, i got the sense that u are not really good friends, that's just my opinion. To me if u have someone that u really are great with as friends and it wasn't meant for u to be more than that, that I would rather have him as my friend than not at all. So i guess maybe u should make ur friendship strong enough to survive the eventually of ur break up and then maybe u can try to begin a romantic one. It's weird, if non-friends end a relationship in bad term they don't talk, but the same happening with people that had a good frienship together, it's depressing. In my opinion doing something, how small, it's much better than doing nothing. Standing there and maybe shouting isn't heard by the president of USA now, but it will definitely be felt by him when he is coming for re-elections soon. Every change that was established in this country be it woman's right, labor's right, was done by striking and protesting. Everyone understands that things just don't change by themselves, you have to make those changes no matter how long it takes it. how many parents do u think in a somali community have parental control programs in their internet service???? interest's information is not an 100% accurate, and not always informative. So with a society that doesn't have at this moment a strong cultural connection is the most endangered to be influenced extremely by the internet. Kids now can see pornography, violence, hate web sites, etc..... If those kids that are being exposed to these types of stuffs on daily basis and don't have a strong family values or continous involvement by parents. then yeah internet is spoiling the kids. Now if it comes to me, i wouldn't let my kid use the internet without me supervising until an age where i feel they can be responsible. I would have my computer filtered. But most of all i would talk to my children about the dangers of internet and what is wrong and right in this part. I guess i would have to say, don't be scared of me catching you but be scared of Allah cause he always sees what you do!!

I must say that although it was a bit long reading, the author i believe used sarcasim sort of style to keep the readers attention, or atleast mine. Now coming back to the topic, i definitely agree with it, our world as we know it now is changing and everything is reshaping, europe and usa stands as the supreme power. Russia fell and at this rate, American isn't going to be the ultimate power at least just maybe for the next 10 or 20 yrs. But then another nation would come on top, be it Japan or united european nations, who knows. i think what the author was trying to get across is that things aren't working as they are now and are we going to do something about it or just watch and bite our nails. As to the sitution with Iraq and the UN, i do believe that the decision whether the USA makes a decision to go to war without UN would extremely undermine if not make the UN look like an empty shell with no power at all, and that makes me wonder after the collapse of UN what would be left for us.

I don't believe that evilness is inherited in everyone, i think it all depends on what we believe is important to us and how the environment helps us nurtier those values or believes.
