This is a great thing about our culture, I've yet to hear about a Somali elder being left at a home for seniors.

WOW it even worked on the elevator  tempted to try this out in Toronto, but I have a feeling ppl won't be as polite... For me getting stuck behind slow walkers is a blessing in disguise. I tend to walk really fast (even when I'm not rushing to somewhere) but I try to remind myself to slow down.

BETHLEHEM—The annual cleaning of one of Christianity’s holiest churches deteriorated into a brawl between rival clergy Wednesday, as dozens of monks feuding over sacred space at the Church of the Nativity battled each other with brooms until police intervened. The ancient church, built over the traditional site of Jesus’ birth in Bethlehem, is shared by three Christian denominations — Roman Catholics, Armenians and Greek Orthodox. Wednesday’s fight erupted between Greek and Armenian clergy, with both sides accusing each other of encroaching on parts of the church to which they lay claim. The monks were tidying up the church ahead of Orthodox Christmas celebrations in early January, following celebrations by Western Christians on Dec. 25. The fight erupted between monks along the border of their respective areas. Some shouted and hurled brooms. Palestinian security forces rushed in to break up the melee and no serious injuries were reported. A Palestinian police spokesman would not immediately comment. MORE --- Don't know why but this made me chuckle...especially the pictures

Vatican pledges legal action against Benetton VATICAN CITY—The Vatican is taking legal action against the Benetton clothing company to prevent the circulation of an ad featuring a fake photo montage of Pope Benedict XVI kissing a top Egyptian imam on the lips. Warning for Archdemos and co...(fake) image of pope kissing an Egyption sheikh I'm no lawyer but isn't photoshoping famous people kissing each other opening you up for lawsuits? I like the 'unhate' message but the campaign is poorly executed imo.

Judge William Adams beats daughter for using the internet
grasshopper replied to grasshopper's topic in General
absolutely, laws really make a difference and make it clear that beating up children is not the same thing as discipline. to be honest, when I was young I thought getting whooped was part of growing up, but when I went back to Somalia in '05, I got sick to my stomach when I saw a mother go nuts on her kid. Education and raising awareness is also key...I wonder if there are any laws/campaigns against abuse in Somalia. or maybe they have bigger fish to fry like poverty and al-shabab. -
A Texan judge beating up his disabled teenage daughter: A lot of us who grew up in Somalia might have horror stories about how we used to get our asses kicked when we misbehaved..some of us might look back and laugh while others might feel anger/hurt... Would you say that full out abuse is part of raising children in Somalia (and other poor countries)?

"Apologising doesn't mean that your wrong and the other is right it only means that you value the relationship more then your ego." I agree with this - but ppl need to be careful about apologizing TOO often because a) it will make your apologies empty and meaningless, and b) you might start to get resentful & passive-aggressive when you keep apologizing for something that's not your fault... And on a random note, here's a good song

Love the Avatar costume! What's the policy on posting photos of other people on here? if you got that from someone's FB page to post on the net for everyone to see, that's bullshit.
