I just finished watching Part 2 and my heart is still racing. how intense. it was a great story but a small part of me also couldn't help thinking about how dangerous it was. the message, I mean. that Nasima didn't have other options besides the one she chose. A big part of me hopes that it doesn't inspire people to feel that way. another part feels that maybe she was right? argh. I wish they had a Part 3 that looked at the middle ground between Sohail and Nasima's point of views. ... peasant, I'd rather eat my socks than watch american football (or basketball, or baseball and boxing. and don't get me started about hockey  ) BUT there are a lot of girls who watch football and sports in general - I live with one who's practicaly obsessed =)

hey there's nothing wrong with being thrifty =) If you don't know anyone there and you're going to pay for accommodation, I suggest finding a popular hostel - it's a great way to meet fellow travellers and get tips on where to go and what to do. oh and it's way cheap!

there were a couple of goldfish once...they didn't last long though. long story short, one ate the other and my sister poisoned the cannibal goldfish in anger. I don't remember the names, they didn't last long =( do you think immortality is a gift or a curse? would you want to be immortal?

just a reminder that part 2 is coming on tonight! People could probably relate more to this week's story.

very gently? How do you feel about death?

no, but I would consider it if one day my melanin started to fail me.. have you ever eaten a cooked insect? Originally posted by Ms DD: I am also fed up with people not giving the sisters the freedom to express their faith. It is a choice and with all the niqabi sisters I have met, niqab never hindred their progress in whichever path they chose right on, sis! banning a woman from wearing the niqab is the same thing as forcing her to do so. same coin, different side

I'm not sure if this qualifies as an E-book but I read this short novel way back in the day and there are a bunch of sites with the entire story Anthem, Ayn Rand
-
by 'get their act together' do you mean conform to society's expectations and sacrifice your individuality to maintain the status quo...if so, NEVER! Is 2+2 really 4?

definitely skip work. if you go to work AND your school work suffers, it's double the blow have you ever seriously considered running away from civilization and living on a deserted island?

but suppose it was the other way around? if he came home one day with a pink mohawk...she would be shocked! if he let her know before hand though, at least she'll be ready for it leaving was a completely immature way to deal with it though..I hope they're working it out.

Originally posted by thugged out but cant feel my feet: uhm, i think its really ironic how the elections turned up this year. its too good to be true, and too convenient. a black man and a white woman both running for presidency? i mean, yeah sure, it shows how far gone society has come but, isnt it toooo convenient? ionno. I know..I get the feeling this whole thing is a farce. Yes they making history by having a candidate who is not a white man...BUT will Barack or Hillary have what it takes to win? sometimes I'm not so sure.

I can't picture myself in a car..way back when I was taking lessons, the steerig wheel felt so weird in my hands. Now a scooter I have no issue with if the streets in TO were better designed for scooters/motorcycles...

PART ONE - Sohail’s Story: Sunday February 3, 2008 at 9 PM Actors Riz Ahmed and Manjinder Virk play brother and sister Sohail and Nasima in a gripping contemporary thriller. The drama unfolds in the wake of the London’s subway bombings as British security forces hunt for a rogue terrorist cell. Sohail is an ambitious law student who joins Britain’s secret service, MI5. His eagerness to play a part in protecting British security plays out in sharp contrast to his sister’s growing anger with Britain’s anti-terror policy. PART TWO - Nasima’s Story: Sunday February 10, 2008 at 9 PM Nasima is a medical student who becomes increasingly alienated and angered by Britain's foreign and domestic policy after witnessing at first hand the brutal targeting of her Muslim neighbours and peers. Having tried civil disobedience to little effect, Nasima wonders if there’s a better way. In her journey she’s faced with the ultimate decision. Brother and sister rediscover one another in a chilling climax. This thought-provoking drama is a revealing examination of British Muslim life under current anti-terror legislation. Britz unflinchingly poses the question whether the laws we think are making us safer, are actually putting us in greater danger. This looks pretty good, check it out if you have time =) I think TVO is channel 2 for most of Canada. http://www.tvo.org/britz/

^^ good ideas umu zakaria, especially #8 =) moms are usually suckers for foot massages, get her one of those massage kits or send her to a spa for a full day of pampering. for your sister, a year's subscription to a stylish muslim mag like this one, she might like it

I would rather die than take public transportation in this weather...No way, no how...And in the summer, Hindidaan ogaa iyo bus...NO thanks, waxaan ka reestaybo waa shiirkooda... no, I haven't gone out today...had a delicious day off work - THANK YOU WEATHER! but yeah, it can get iffy when the weather's bad like this. but I'd rather on the subway reading for an hour than driving around in this kind of weather during rush hour

Originally posted by chubacka: ^ NO! wot has he been doing his whole life?! looool! really? but what if he was a really nice guy who has his sh!t together? ONE, you have the same car as my family =) yeah with kids I guess it's necessary, I rarely see entire families on the subway lol
-
don't worry about it Nephthys =) it's weird but this isn't the first time it's happened to me lol! anyway girls, your reactions were pretty funny when you all thought I was a he. are you saying you wouldn't give a guy a chance if he didn't drive or have a car?
-
I'm in my mid-twenties and I don't drive. people tell me I should be embarrassed to admit that. but i'm not =) for some reason, I've never been compelled to get behind the wheel of a car and the only reason I got my driver's license was so that I can use it as photo-ID I'm not scared of driving, I'm not a tree hugger and my refusal to drive is not a manifestation of my inability to take control of my life! I don't think I'm missing out on much. and besides it's so damn expensive. what with rising oil prices and the congested roads, I think I'm doing myself a favour. and until somebody reigns in these insurance companies, I'm not sure I can ever afford to drive. Anyway, long story short: I don't drive, probably never will and I'm damn OK with that long live public transportation! Are there other non-drivers out there?
