  1. First were the fists which led to> thumping each other on the head with mallets made of tree trunks and then came> hurling stones at each other> We then discovered the arts of name calling and yelling at each other and later gabays> Then came warans (spears), knifes and probably swords> Followed by bow and arrows> which lead to 19th century rifles> and Ak47s plus heavy guns> and now we have internet and political Islam

  3. I think we should start twinning Somali cities and towns. Twinned cities will exchange gifts like poems in praise of each other and relief when one is facing hardship like drought or failled crops. Twinning took off after the second world war when European cities started to pair with German cities and towns. The main main was to quench hostilities and to help those places struggling after being ravaged by the war. It obviously helped the Europeans to some degree and I think it will work for Somalis if done properly. Places of similar sizes and economies will be paired. So port cities like Berbera will be paired with Bosaso paired with Djibouti. Similarly agricultural towns like Gabiley and Afgooye will be paired. It should include cities/towns of all the three Somali nations and also Somali regions of Ethiopia and Kenya as maintaining connections with those isolated Somalis is vital. What do you guys think? If u have ideas of your own also, pls feel free to share them.
  4. As Somaliland opens up to the rest of the world, it has to brand itself which is something most African and developing nations struggle with. We have to make sure that only the right kind of people visit our nation. To demonstrate what I'm talking about, think of places like Thialand that are a hub for drunkeness and sex. In contrast, think of Tibet which attracts culture and spiritual types. The challanges we face are enourmous but we have an opportunity to do great things with our young nation. I hope it becomes a place associated with incredible things and one that leads in something like India leads in IT. A place of knowledge, intelligence and of course commerce
