Sofine: If your parents are ok with it, considering the thoughts of relatives is kind of ridiculous to me. Anyways I don't know how important of a role your relatives play in your live so its all upto you. However, if your love for one another is true than hey I would say forget about relatives. My two cents!

Brothers hold your horses! Abila: SOS Did answer u well so I won't add more to it for now! Realist/Shuju: Don't misinterpret Islam brothers. Islam assigned different roles to men and women. But that doesn't imply inferiority in any way. When we raise issues such as gender racism, all we want is equal treatment. Islam gave women more rights than we can ever dream of. We are not abusing the religion, and we expect the same thing from you GUYS. Misconception and misinterpretation of Islam is what caused the extinction of female rights. At the time of the Prophet (PBUH) there were many women who made difference in the society. They even participated in the battles. That shows that Islam permits women to take up tasks and play a vital role in the advancement of society while still receiving the same wages and recognition, as would her fellow men. And that, my dear brothers, is all we are asking for. EQUAL TREATMENT. Gedid: I am not denying the strength of men bro, but what I was trying to make you visualize is that we(women) can take up the place of men when needed and achieve the same if not more than they do. Lefty: We care about debating on this issue because it lays a barrier in our ladder to success. And till this barrier is removed this issue will remain unresolved. And we will continue to surface it from time to time. Che_Chuavara: Tyson/Lewis might appear strong but if manuevering/bending of boxing laws would be allowed, you would indeed find women that could beat them. You see your power may be abundant in your physical being, but ours is mental and we all know that mind is more powerful than body...

Although I have many poems as favorites but this one beats them all..... If thou must love me If thou must love me, let it be for nought Except for love's sake only. Do not say "I love her for her smile... her look... her way Of speaking gently,... for a trick of thought That falls in well with mine, and certes brought A sense of pleasant ease on such a day"- For these things in themselves, Beloved, may Be changed, or change for thee, - and love, so wrought, May be unwrought so. Neither love me for Thine own dear pity's wiping my cheeks dry, A creature might forget to weep who bore Thy comfort long, and lose thy love thereby. But love me for love's sake, that evermore Thou may'st love on, through love's eternity. -Elizabeth Barrett Browning

This is the 21st Century and many men still believe in the superiority of men. :confused: I must admit I was appalled to know that. Don't guys see that days when men used to be the main breadwinners and women used to sit at home waiting for their men folks. If one looks back at the age, it seems Neolithic. Today, no woman is inferior to any man. Physically and mentally, women are on par with men. Women weight-lifting champions, I am sure, are not alien to anyone. Women have survived with chauvinistic men around, and the mental strength of women serves as a survival kit. Men and women live under the same sky on the same planet, Earth. When did the men become superior to women or vice versa? Mars might be superior planet and Venus an inferior but so far no man has been found on Mars or women on Venus. Should you guys, find them there, please let me know, and I shall agree with you, on the superiority you claim.

Friend=Hard to find

I personaly think the drastic increase in the divorce rate in Somali society is mainly due to the loss of strong grounds for marriage. Alot of the times majority of Somali couples marry merely out of jealousy. Simply and plainly they get jealous of their friend getting married and they want to achieve the same thing. But then when they realize how married life is, they won't think twice of it but head for the divorce courts. As far as minnnesota being Garoob State.. I surely won't agree with you on dat. Divorce is scattered across all the countries Somalis ever seeked Asylum in.. So don't let your prejudism mislead your thinking!

FinestSista: I am not sure if someone saw this story of yours as I did. But this is my thinking, if its harsh I am sure you are not gonna take it to the heart, and if its nice well waa sidii la rabay oo si lagu daray..sax! Anyways Guy X you did him wrong, and I am glad you admit that is a good sign. As for as how you should handle him goes, well you owe him alot.. so start by taking him to dinner once or twice a month. Just talk with him and be the friend that you were willing to be in the first place. And then let nature take its toll and time tell your story... For guy Y: To me it seems like he was either married or in a serious relationship and was cheating. Because regardless of how old a girl is Somali men never consider them as a minor... No offense guys but its the Hard truth . So sista to me just run away from him as fast as you can. He is No GOOD. And in future if you meet a guy that shows you how much he cares about you by being there for you regardless of your attitute plzzz give him the chance.. Nice men are hard to find these days. This is the motto I live by everyday " If a guy treats me like a queen I shall treat him like a king and if he treats me like a b**** then I shall treat him like a piece of S***" Anyways that is my two cents! Good luck -

Salaam Nomads! It has indeed been a while sincw I last posted anything here, so let me just add my two cents in this frivolously extended debate. Sophist: As usual brother, you infatuate facts or maybe exaggerate a little. I know it seems like everyone has his or her eye on you, so let me just cut you some slack and give my unbiased opinion. "Our minds seduce us to believing that we are sometimes happy because of the beautiful life we lead." to me this is just words that I refuse to agree with. Happiness is usually defined differently from individual to individual, basing their definition on one/two or even more aspects of their lives. Our judgment of their happiness shouldn't be founded on the grounds of our definitions rather theirs. And as the saying goes, " One man's meat is another's poison". So my friend you may entertain yourself with the thoughts of happiness when in actuality you are sad, but this doesn't necessarily imply that all humans do as such. Believe me there are people who are naturally born to be happy. It's not our minds that trick us, rather its personality. You will meet folks that have everything one could ever wish from this life, yet can't be happy, because their happiness comes only after miseries. Their concept is this, " I am the happiest when I am miserable". I have seen them trust me they exist. Now about love, it can indeed be physically visible if one wishes to see it. You may not be able to touch it or even embrace it, but its existence can be seen and felt through those that dwell in its nest. You may agree or disagree for that matter, but brother reality is too bright for one with eyes to ignore. Love does exist only to those who are willing to accept it. You may not have been in love before or even for that matter met someone you could wander with; nonetheless, it shouldn't block your way to this heavenly joy. Some define it as you did, " A psychological fascination of one's own fairytale", however, to the likes of me, who have been there know the reality of it. And like everything else in this world extremists exist in the world of love as well. There are those that commit suicide for the sake of love, and those like yourself, who believe its just a mere imagination. And of course the moderates, like myself, who see love as the most beautiful and precious gift life could ever offer one, yet at the same time, won't let failure in that department hold their lives down. Love comes and goes. And like everything else one should be logical in approach. I hope I was objective in my criticism...
