Mobb_Deep: I am already mouthwatering.... thnx for sharing. I am loving this aren't you girls?? To see so many brothers that have the kitchen skills.. No more deliveries once we hit the " I am too tired to cook today" point of saturation....THANK GOD for that... Anyways Ladies n gents today its the al famous. Creme` Caramel Ingredients for creme`: 2 cups of milk 4 table spoons of sugar 6 eggs A drop of vanilla for essence (or you can use rose water) Prep: Put all ingredients in a bowl and beat them for 10 min... Ingredients for Caramel: Cooking pot 7 spoons of sugar Prep: Put the sugar in the cooking pot (make sure this cooking pot fits in your larger cooking pot)and burn till dark brown.. Then pour your creme` mixture on it. Don't mix just leave it like that for now. Now in your larger cooking pot fill it halfway with water and boil it. Now place the smaller cooking pot with the creme` in the larget pot and cover, making sure its air tight. After 20 mins.. place the large pot with the smaller pot in a preheated oven of 350 degrees. And cook it till the creme` thickens. Once its set. Remove it from the larger pot and have a shallow plate ready. Now place the inner of the plate on the pot. Now flip it gently. Decorate it as you like it. I love it like that no decors.... You can also divide the creme` caramel into individual cups before cooking it. So that everyone can have their own nicely set creme` caramel.... Bon Apetite`.

Underdog: You sure got some jokes! Especially with your brain surgeon on a nobel prize winning track for the year 2015..... kkkkk that was indeed funny. I am still laughing walaahi. And yes you are right, depends on what you are willing to but not what the other is trying to sell you. So after all its all about marketing skills. Nice to know that....kkkk I am still laughing..

Mine would definitely be different.. wanna know how.. I will let my mom run the show. I think its the greatest gift a girl can give her mom by allowing her to choose everything and anything she wants for that night. However if the choice laid with me than I would definitely not have a wedding at all. I think its just waste of money and time. What will you gain from all that fuzz anways...One lame night with women chattering and criticizing about what you should have done?? Or guys dressed like charlie chaplin. I don't think so... I would make lunch for odayaasha and then maybe some casariyo for the women. If they want to dance traditional dances its upto them. I will definitely provide them with drums and sticks.. bbut my hubby and myself would be on a plane to Seychelles or maybe Zanzibar for honeymoon of 3 months. I want to remember my wedding in raaxo way then daal.. so Nasir....that is my dream wedding bro...

I personally don't agree with the notion " Men ran away from educated Sisters", rather I believe that its woman's own attitude that puts guys off. Many women come too strong on guys or are busy trying to prove to the guy that they run the show alternatively overwhelming the guy with dominance. I believe men and women are assigned different roles in life and if for some reason there is switch in the roles than conflict is bound to happen. Many nomad brothers look for educated sisters, like Baashi said, " Educated sister makes great mother and hell of a wife". I strongly believe that thought. So sisters before you ran off blaming the brothers for intimidation do a little self-analysis and see what is wrong with your approach or attitude. Majority of the time it is the woman's fault. Sisters with more knowledge do intimidate some guys however. And I lay the blame completely on his lack of confidence in himself and his raganimo. Education simplifies the person not complicate him/her. And actually the arrogance it raises in some girls can actually be found in some guys too. My guess is, it goes both ways. I have seen brothers that got associate degree yet thinking they rule the world. So sisters cut some slack the brothers and once u see a brother that is hesitant to approach u, make it easy on him and approach him urself or just smile so that it eases the tension. And of course this is my two cents....

Og_ I don't know if you have realised or not, actually I started reviving my topics and those that interested me back in those days. So my guess is you can do the same for a change, rather then push the new nomads away. They are just doing the getting to know survey we did way back.So its aight.. let them have fun....And actually some of their topics are really interesting and fun. New idea, new faces, new comments isn;t that what the SOL is all about.. mise did I miss something while I was away??

I have seen folks that met online get married, and actually I have attended many of them. So yes I do believe that one can fall for someone online. I did before and actually I am doing it again. So yes I do believe it can happen. And actually unlike many I think it actually works....If you have the trust and the respect it requires to make it through. Believe me, it takes alot of trust. Coz majority of the time that person is not with you or may not be with u for a long time.. so you gotta trust him or her. When u start to doubt them, pray two rakas. It should shun the sheydaan away.... Good luck sis!

Nafisa I am fine girlie. Life here is superb, I am actually heading for Somalia on June 1st. Its gonna be cool. You can imagine my excitement given the fact that I haven't been home for 13 yrs. The recipe was nice sis actually you left out on the refrigerated cheesecake. There are two kinds I hope you know that... here is the other..if u didn't try it before u should ....I personally prefer this over the baked one.. 250 gm philly cheese cream (you can use any other but this is my fav) 250 Graham crackers or any sweet crackers 1 block of butter 1 meduim can of condensed milk 1 can whip cream 1 lemon whole 1 can of sliced pineapples (or any fruit that you like, but surely tastes great with pineapples) Preparation base: Grine the crackers and add the unmelted butter. Press it on the dish you are gonna serve on and refrigerate it. For the cheese filling; blend the cheese cream lightly with half can of condensed milk or add more depending on how much u love sweets. Squeeze the lemon juice into the mixture. Now pour the mixture in a bowl. Slowly stir the whip cream in it. Now place the cheese filling on the pressed base, and cover the top with the pinneapples. Refrigerate for 2 hrs. When set serve it.....

Abdinuur: I guess everyone here will give you different individual opinions or what they like. So here is mine. To keep me in a relationship you will have to be honest with me at all times. I need to see your sincere side not the representative that you send when we are on a date. As for things you should do, follow your gut instincts. I am spontaneous so planning and expecting certain procedures has never been my call. I let nature lead me. But one thing is for sure, I love hugs so plenty of them will be appreciated.... .. Plus I am the kind who lets her man know what she wants upfront. So no guessing is required in my world. Everywhere is Black or White.. no grey areas. Good luck boy! And hey its good to see you again long time...

Lakkad: Its not about loosing touch with those back home, its just that we possess different prospectives than they do. Our life priorities are different and our thinking goes beyond theirs. Too much friction to overcome, and it sometimes proves hazardous believe me. Anyways I miss u tons and the folks back in R. Say Hello to them for me. I might come back U owe me a dinner when I do!!

Mobb Depp: Whatever recipes we have listed here is for both guys and girls. If there is specific meal you want us to give u instructions for just holla... Gediid: I like the sandwich already.. however without cooking the tunna if u just add diced tomatoes and little mayo would make it ymmmmmmm... OK... Ladies and gents today its arabic dip:: Mutabel: 1/2 kg of egg-plant(bidinjaal in somali) 2 pieces of garlic 2 table spoons of mayonaise 2 table spoons of lemon juice 3 table spoons of plain yoghurt. salt to taste... preparation: Peel the egg plants and slice them. butter the baking tray and place the sliced egg plants in line. Cover the tray with aluminium foil make sure its air tight. Now bake it for 20 min on a 300 degree, or if your oven has numbers then 6 would work fine.. After 20 min remove the tray from the oven and crash the eggplants with the garlic. You can use a blender or mooyo/kal whichever works for you. now add the rest of the ingredients. Add salt to your taste. You can gurnish it with thinly sliced lemons or pomegrante seeds. Most suitable with qubus or pita bread but it works great with malawax as well... Bon apetite`

Grey M&M: Kkkkkkk.. I feel ya sista... here is something easy.. Potato salad... since you are single... I will give u a recipe enough for you and someone else... 2 boiled potates 3 boiled eggs 1/2 can of tuna 1 teaspoon of salt 2 table spoons of Mayonaise ( it has to be real mayo.. but if u r in a diet than u can use low fat mayo) Preparation: Crash the potatoes and the eggs. Mix the salt, tuna, and mayo. You can put it in the fridge for cooler potatoes but if u like them little warm like me.. then u r ready to get your fill... Shujui: Its sad, I won't get to taste your cooking. Maybe if I ever come down to London urtooy, I will pass by for a meal.. I know our sijui brothers cook well.. Barwaaqo: I can understand sis, coz Xalwo is one of those things that you will have to see to get how its done....it takes precise timing of when ingredients are added. I have actually been wondering about this issue for a while. Some brothers believe that the sisters in the Arab world are muadabiin or well mannered than those in the west. Sorry to wake you up from your dream but that is absolutely not true. Walaahi sisters here (in UAE) are faster than fighter jets when it comes to men. Within the hr that her parents allowed her to get some air, she has date with more than 5 guys. I am not exaggerating I have seen it. So armey idin roontahay the one aad wax kasta ka ogtahay, oo meesha aad joogtid joogta. I did what is called SWOT analysis to evaluate marriages between Somalis in the west and those back home or even in arab world, and this is what I came up with. If you find more points to add then plzz do so.. Strengths : 1. Cheaper wedding 2. Hassle-free search for a wife 3. Zero demands compared to the ones in the west 4. Pre-approved by parents (of course they did the picking) 5. No honeymoon expenses Weaknesses : 1. Lack of proper education 2. Conflict in personality 3. Contradiction in life-goals 4. Remote possibility in experiencingtrue happiness 5. High chance in disappointment 6. Lack of intellectual conversation 7. Disagreement in priorities Opportunities : 1. Limited demands in material 2. Easy satisfaction with little money 3. Parents blessings 4. Culture oriented Threats : 1. Change in attitude after arrival in the west 2. Unknown past behaviors 3. Susceptible to mental disorder due to the war traumas (Somalia) 4. Great possibility of marriage failure due to misinterpretation of freedom Now maryooleey its up to you to decide.

Hibo is my real name so that is what my nick says about me!!

It has always been a long held believe among Somalis that we dominate the world of personal hygiene. However, lately it has come to my attention that we lack personal hygiene and that not all Somalis are clean rather some of them smell horrible. Majority is what counts and majority of Somalis are ignorant people who don't know importance of maintaining an odor free body. When I lived in Minneapolis I encountered a lot of Somali wadaad women who nausea sated folks around them. So my friends what I am really trying to say is let us start a personal hygiene education among our people. We usually complain of the odors that are omitted by Pakistanis and Indians while ignoring our own. What really surprises me is their preaching of Islam, given the fact that they lack half of their Iman. "Al nadafah nus al-Iman" was said in the hadith, which means " Cleanliness is half of your Iman" so nomads educate those around you. Sometimes when I meet someone I like, a guy or a girl don't matter, I give them deodorants as gifts. Some said I was mean others called me thoughtless. I believe I did them a favor coz I helped them I know many of you will disagree with me and dismiss this as baloney, but believe me nomads we have many of them in our society. Let us not blind ourselves of the reality rather let us join hands and eliminate this ignorance.
-
Let me be controvertial and say " TRIBALISM". It is quite evident within the Somali society that nothing else will ever bond them but tribe. I am certain that if we have every tribe ruling his own people than peace and harmony will soon emerge. Majority of Somali people believe deeply in tribalism and its crap, and this disease has proven to be contagious. Even the youth seem to be posting questions such as, " What is ur qabiil? or Where r u from since now everyone has his own territory besides Mog?" If we breainwash all Somalis and then bring on Islam as way of life than only will we be able to eradicate this Ignorance that has saturated our homeland for more than decade now. And this my two cents of course.
