  2. Insh'Allah, jahliyyaa will be wiped out from the Horn for once and for all. The most important qualities we need is to be sincere and persevere - niyyah and sabr. We should strive to work by the Furqaan to the letter. Then, all is to Allah (swt).
  3. Rebels answer Mogadishu's call to arms Mike Pflanz in Gode Last Updated: 2:13am GMT 24/11/2006 A fierce military campaign against secessionist rebels in south-east Ethiopia is pushing the previously moderate Muslim population into the arms of Somali fundamentalists. Hundreds of men from the ****** region, where most of the population is ethnically Somali, have travelled to Mogadishu to train with the powerful Islamic Courts Union and its militia. The men are answering the Islamists' call to wage holy war against Addis Ababa and the promise of a dollar a day, and they threaten to open a second front against Ethiopia if war breaks out with Mogadishu. advertisement Yesterday, Ethiopia's prime minister, Meles Zenawi, said attempts at dialogue had failed with the Courts Union. His government had now "completed" preparations to defend Ethiopia from the "clear and present danger" posed by the Courts. Those "preparations" are widely held to be a massive build-up of Ethiopian troops and weaponry inside Somalia, ostensibly deployed to prop up its weak transitional government in Baidoa. But The Daily Telegraph has learned that an Ethiopian army operation against homegrown rebels from the ****** National Liberation Front (ONLF), which has been fighting for self-rule since 1984, has radicalised a huge swathe of the population. Civilians have been worst hit, witnesses said in Gode, 420 miles south-east of the capital on the road to Somalia. All were too afraid to give their names and asked that their villages not be named. "They have come here four or five times, they always say we are helping the ONLF and they burn our houses and destroy our crops," said one man, whose family fled into the bush during the attacks. "A man from our village was arrested," said another. "They said his brother was a rebel and told him to walk into the bush to find him and bring him. When he came back without the brother, they hanged him as an example to other 'collaborators'." Friends and relatives have disappeared, detained in appalling conditions without trial or executed, Amnesty International has claimed. Mr Meles defends the operation as crucial to halting the spread of radical Islam from Somalia into rebellious corners of his own country. He has good reason to worry. The ONLF has long-running links with Ethiopia's arch-foe, Eritrea, and with Al-Itihad Al-Islamiya, a radical Islamic unity group strengthening its presence in the Horn of Africa and linked to the leader of the Islamic Courts. But far from cowing the ONLF into submission, the strong-arm tactics have won the rebels more converts. Hundreds – thousands, according to some estimates – have now made the four-day bus trip to Mogadishu to sign up with the Islamists in preparation for war against the Addis regime. "There is no doubt that the call to arms from Mogadishu resonates with people in the ******," said Matt Bryden, senior Somalia analyst with the International Crisis Group. mike.pflanz@telegraph.co.uk http://www.somaliaonline.com/cgi-bin/ubb/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=newtopic;f=9

Then as promissed we will cut off your johnson from your baby to your old men. You are like cancer in the horn of africa. When the time comes the remainig of you will go to your relatives the Jews or to the West. Until then I have vowed not to speak to get into dialogue with you.

Xabashi, (1991)--- Amxaaro was beaten by Eritrea, Oromo, and Tigree (1993)---Oromo was beaten by Eritrea and Tigree (1996)--- No record of Somali defeat exists(2000)--- Amxaaro and Tigree were massacred by Eritrea http://www.exile.ru/2002-October-02/war_nerd.html This time around you have no helper. 7. Ethiopia 'ready for Islamist war' The Islamists have made rapid advances this year Ethiopia has made preparations for a conflict with the Islamists who control much of southern Somalia, Prime Minister Meles Zenawi has told MPs. The Islamists have repeatedly declared Jihad, or Holy War on Ethiopia, accusing it of backing their rivals in Somalia's interim government. "This group represents a clear threat," Mr Meles said in Ethiopia's first prime minister's question time. Some fear a regional war, as Ethiopia's rival Eritrea is seen as pro-Islamist. The Union of Islamic Courts has denied claims by Ethiopia and the Somali government that it has links to al-Qaeda. Some Islamist leaders want Somalia to take control of Somali-speaking areas of Ethiopia and Kenya. Declaration of war Mr Meles said he did not believe the peaceful path of negotiations with the Union of Islamic Courts (UIC) was completely exhausted but he said they could not close their eyes or look the other way when the country was being attacked. He said the government had completed preparations to defend itself against UIC attack. Opposition politicians said a resolution put forward by the ruling party calling on the house to back whatever moves the government thought necessary amounted to a declaration of war on Somalia. A UN report this month accused Ethiopia and Eritrea, among other countries, of breaking an international arms embargo by supplying arms to Somalia. The UIC further accuses Ethiopia of having thousands of troops backing government forces in Somalia. Mr Meles has denied these claims but admits to having hundreds of military trainers in Somalia. Eritrea equally denies claims that it has sent troops and weapons to the UIC. Somalia's interim government only controls a small patch of territory around the town of Baidoa. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/6175976.stm
  8. Rainier Valley barber shop owner flees U.S. Facing sentencing in plea deal, he phones FBI to say he's in Somalia By PAUL SHUKOVSKY P-I REPORTER Ruben Shumpert, who federal agents allege made his Rainier Valley barber shop a kind of "anti-American training ground for Muslims" where children were taught "how to shoot and fight the Americans," has telephoned the FBI to say he won't be going to prison anytime soon. Shumpert, who faces sentencing on federal counterfeiting and weapons charges, has fled to Somalia. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of Shumpert, who is also known as Amir Abdul Muhaimin, Assistant U.S. Attorney Bill Redkey said. He was to be sentenced Tuesday. Shumpert -- an African American convert to Islam -- was among more than a dozen, mostly African immigrants from Islamic countries arrested by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force two years ago on a mix of charges, including immigration fraud and bank fraud. Shumpert was never charged with any terrorism crimes, but court documents paint a picture of his barber shop at 7821 Rainier Ave. S. as a gathering place for adherents of radical Islam where he showed children videotapes of "fighting, shooting and killing with images on Shumpert's computer screen of al-Qaida and the Taliban." Shumpert had been free on personal recognizance and was facing sentencing under a plea agreement when he fled the country, Redkey said. Shumpert called an FBI agent on the Joint Terrorism Task Force from Somalia, Redkey said. But he noted that the United States has no extradition treaty with Somalia. Somalia is considered a fertile breeding ground for radical Islamic terrorists by U.S. intelligence agencies. Redkey said Shumpert also likely is to be charged with failing to appear for his sentencing hearing, a separate felony. A condition of Shumpert's release before sentencing was that he surrender his passport, said Redkey, who noted that in recent years, it has become more common for judges to allow defendants to turn in their passports after they are released from custody. Shumpert never surrendered his passport, Redkey said. Redkey said the U.S. Attorney's Office is reviewing the practice of allowing people out of custody before they surrender their passport. Couldn't it be the reverse? The Arabs and the Cuhite people of the Horn of Africa have thousands of years of interactions, thus making it very likely that both groups adopted vocabularies from each other.

  13. Rebels say they abducted Red Cross workers in Ethiopia, but will release them The Associated Press Published: September 22, 2006 ADDIS ABABA, Ethiopia A rebel group said Friday it abducted two international Red Cross workers in a remote part of eastern Ethiopia, but that the men will be released in 48 hours. The United Western Somali Liberation Front said it mistook the men for oil workers exploring in the ****** region, largely inhabited by ethnic Somalis. Somalia lost control of the region to Ethiopia in 1977, but the rebels believe it belongs to them. The International Committee of the Red Cross engineers were kidnapped Monday near Gode, 1,100 kilometers (680 miles) east of Addis Ababa. "The UWSLF court ruled after an investigation that the two were not working for any oil company contracted by Ethiopia but are ICRC staffers. They will walk to freedom within the coming 48 hours," the group's spokesman, Abdullahi Osman Gashan, said from Mogadishu. The UWSLF also warned companies against exploring for oil or other resources in the region "without the consent of its people." "Whoever tries to do this will be responsible for whatever befall on him," Gashan said. At least this I know: my friend who joined the ICU is the most respected individual in his community. Caaqil, You said it wonderfully. Both Ethiopia and Kenya are guilty of the cardinal sin /haram al akbar/ of Colonialism against both Somalis and Oromos. For the past century they have refused to let go of our people peacefully and there is no neew indicator that they will let go in peace at this time either. Hence, the two countries should be fought vehemently by both Somalis and Oromos coordinating our resources and tactics in order to minimize our casuality.
  16. November 4, 2006 NAIROBI -- Kenyan Muslims Saturday accused the United States of lying about plans by Somali Islamists to carry out suicide bombings in Kenya and Ethiopia as a pretext to attack Somalia. The Supreme Council of Kenyan Muslims (SUPKEM) said Washington was using the alleged attacks as a ploy to attack and destroy the lawless Horn of Africa state, where a powerful Islamic movement is rapidly gaining influence. "America wants to cause confusion as a pretext to give it reason to once again attack and destroy the Republic of Somalia," SUPKEM chairman Abdel Ghaful El Busaidy told reporters at a press conference here. "Kenyan Muslims strongly condemn ... the US ... [for] putting Somalia and the Union of Islamic courts as another in its axis of evil," he said. "We Kenyans should be careful not to fall into the American propaganda," said Busaidy, who urged the Kenyan government to continue mediating the conflict between the Islamists and Somalia's largely ineffective government. On Thursday, US embassies in Nairobi and Addis Ababa said they had information about "reports of terrorist threats emanating from extremist elements within Somalia, which target Kenya, Ethiopia, and other surrounding countries." US officials said the Islamists' supreme leader, Sheikh Hassan Dahir Aweys, purportedly authorized the attacks, but the Islamists have denied what they dismissed as "baseless" allegations. Islamic militias and government forces are currently girding for an all-out war after a third round of peace talks collapsed in Khartoum earlier this week. The Islamists, who control much of southern Somalia including the capital Mogadishu, stand accused of links with Osama Bin Laden's Al Qaeda network and other foreign extremist groups. Aweys, a hardline cleric designated a "terrorist" by the United States for alleged Al Qaeda ties, has not personally reacted to the allegations. He has in the past denied any connection to terrorism and rejected US accusations the Islamists are harboring Al Qaeda suspects wanted for the deadly 1998 bombings of Washington's embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. The US warning came as the Islamists have declared "jihad," or holy war, on neighboring Ethiopia for allegedly sending thousands of troops to Somalia to back the country's weak government and accused Kenya of siding with Ethiopia. Somalia has lacked an effective government since the 1991 ouster of dictator Mohamed Siad Barre and a national administration formed in Kenya two years ago has failed to exert its authority. http://www.metimes.com/storyview.php?StoryID=20061104-111343-6380r

  20. Man, 34, arrested at airport Computer files, extra cash cited November 16, 2006 Email this Print this A 34-year-old Dallas man was arrested at Detroit Metro Airport on Tuesday, carrying $78,883 in cash and a laptop computer containing mysterious files about cyanide and nuclear materials. Authorities said Sisayehiticha Dinssa, a U.S. citizen who was born in Ethiopia, was arrested after getting off an airline flight from Amsterdam. They said he had spent four months in Nigeria on unspecified business. When agents asked him whether he had any cash to declare, he said he had $18,000, authorities said. But when agents checked his luggage, they found an additional $60,883. When they scrolled through his laptop, they said they found the mysterious files. Dinssa told agents he was interested in learning about cyanide and nuclear materials. Federal Magistrate Judge Donald Scheer approved Assistant U.S. Attorney Leonid Feller's request to detain Dinssa pending a detention hearing on Monday. Between now and then, Feller said, agents would try to find out more about him and the computer files. He is charged with concealing more than $10,000 in his luggage, which carries a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison, plus forfeiture of the money. His lawyer, Deputy Federal Defender Leroy Soles, couldn't be reached for comment. By David Ashenfelter http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20061116/NEWS05/611160324/1007

  24. Believe me they will. With their 240,000 strong army, they are full of pride. They can also raise an additional 100,000 army within few months. With all these conscripts who believe eating a decent meal in the army even for a week is better than leading a hungry life forever, the Tigres are very confident they can march all the way to Mogdishu with no trouble.
