I suppose it might even be quite opposite what i thought........especially if it implies that the Pal are in part to blame for their economic woes amongst other things. oh well.

  6. Your name of ****** gives you the ability to be creative along practical lines of endeavour. Your ideas can be very original and inventive. You enjoy being with people in a social environment. Your personal appearance is important to you, for you desire to make a good impression on others. Your pleasant manner attracts people to you with their problems and you are capable of offering practical advice, though you would probably not follow such advice yourself. This name causes you to be somewhat too concerned with the personalities, problems, and activities of other people. You seem positive and decisive and can be outspoken in the expression of your opinions, but you lack the self-confidence needed to follow through with your ideas and plans. Procrastination is your downfall. You frequently choose the path of least resistance to avoid your responsibilities. It is not easy for you to overcome obstacles or face issues. This name does you an injustice in that it restricts your success in business and personal pursuits through a lack of ambition. There is a weakness in the fluid functions and in the region of the head resulting in sinus problems, headaches, eye, ear, or throat conditions and related ailments. Hair loss could also be a problem. Bull ****

  9. I dont think its so much that about the number of Nukes, although clearly this play's a part. It is is america willing to take a risk of going to conflict with a nuclear armed regime, that is near some of its close allies namely Japan. I think the answer is not so clear. But it is very interesting, i think they outcome of this could possibly serve as a model for future american aggression

  11. Men Arrested After Wearing Peace T Shirts at Mall Two men were arrested by Guilderland police after mall security questioned them about wearing peace tee shirts at the Crossgates Mall. The shirts read "Give Peace a Chance" and "No War with Iraq." An employee of a store at the Albany, NY area mall alerted security to the men. The security officers told the men to remove the shirts. When they refused police came on the scene and arrested them for trespassing. Police say the fact the men refused to leave constitutes trespassing. The New York Civil Liberties Union is looking into this matter. Source: www.msnbc.com Critical Flaw in Internet Infrastructure kept Secret until Patched A serious flaw was discovered in late December in the key piece of Internet software, Sendmail, which is used to sort and deliver 50-75% of e-mail traffic worldwide. The flaw could have allowed a single e-mail to gain control of an e-mail server. The end effect of a number of such attacks could have led to a global slow down of net traffic as e-mail was bounced as undeliverable, or even allow for denial of service attacks utilizing the high speed links e-mail servers commonly have. The initial report of the flaw was kept secret to allow the developers of the different versions of the Sendmail utility to develop patches, the effort largely coordinated by the newly formed Department of Homeland Security. 12. "lets us be realistic and understand the main aim of bush gov's,it is not only to control the oil field but also(and this the mos important)to provide a complete secuirty to tiny agressive counry in region(israel)" I think most ppl would agree with you there and are aware of this as an extra motive. But the current arab regimes are totally Impotent and are the reason why america weilds such infulence in the middle east, so i am not holding my breath on them doing anything about it. No it looks like the war has already started with american an UK bOOMING key surface to air missle systems in teh southern no fly zones. So what is now left is to see the outcome of the war and what allah swt has planed for the people in the middle east.
  13. Is world War Three getting closer? US boosts forces near N Korea Two dozen B-1 and B-52 bombers have been put on alert The United States is ordering extra military forces - thought to be long-range bombers - to boost defences near North Korea. The move comes amid heightened tensions with Pyongyang, following Monday's interception of a US surveillance plane by four North Korean fighter jets in international airspace. Washington military officials also said that the US is considering sending it own fighter jets to escort future surveillance flights. "As part of our efforts to meet our global requirements, we are deploying additional forces to the western Pacific as US forces are preparing for possible military action elsewhere," Pentagon spokesman Lieutenant Commander Jeff Davis said. He did not specify what forces were involved, but BBC Pentagon correspondent Nick Childs says they are understood to be long-range bombers. Last month the United States put two dozen B-1 and B-52 bombers on alert for possible deployment to the US-held Pacific island of Guam. The force would also be accompanied by about 2,000 personnel, the French news agency AFP reported. Deterrent Pentagon officials insist the decision was made on Friday and is not a response to Monday's air incident over the Sea of Japan. Washington on Tuesday confirmed it would lodge a formal protest over the encounter, which follows weeks of escalating tensions with North Korea, notably over the isolated ultra-communist state's nuclear programme. "This kind of reckless behaviour by North Korea will only lead to further international isolation of North Korea," White House spokesman Ari Fleischer said. North Korea has condemned the military exercises US officials said that at one point one of the four North Korean MiG fighters involved edged within 15 metres (50 feet) of the US plane. The escalating tensions come as the US and South Korea begin large-scale military exercises, which the North has labelled a prelude to invasion. The US says its joint military exercises with the South are a planned annual event and not connected to friction with the North. Codenamed Foal Eagle, they involve 5,000 American soldiers. Fighter escorts The Pentagon said the interception happened on Sunday as its RC-135 - a model based on the Boeing 707 airliner - was on a routine intelligence mission about 150 miles (240 kilometres) off North Korea's coast. The US said initially that one of the North Korean jets involved had locked its radar weapons system onto the US plane, the final step before firing a missile. However, it later said that the aircraft had merely been "acquired" by the MiG's radar. The US plane broke off its mission and returned to its base in Kadena, Japan. US military officials said on Tuesday that one possible response to the incident would be to have fighters escort future flights. However they say that doing so runs the risk of undercutting the US assertion that the surveillance flights are not military threats. Stand-off CRISIS CHRONOLOGY 16 Oct: US says N Korea admits to a secret nuclear programme 14 Nov: US halts oil shipments to N Korea 22 Dec: N Korea removes monitoring devices at Yongbyon nuclear plant 31 Dec: UN nuclear inspectors forced to leave 10 Jan: N Korea pulls out of anti-nuclear treaty 12 Feb: IAEA refers issue to UN Security Council 27 Feb: US says Yongbyon reactor restarted Timeline of tensions North Korea has been embroiled in a tense stand-off with the US since news broke in October of a secret North Korean nuclear programme. The US stopped fuel aid to North Korea, which reacted by kicking weapons inspectors out of the country and restarting its Yongbyon nuclear reactor. It also pulled out the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which seeks to control the spread of nuclear arms. North Korea wants direct talks with Washington to resolve the issue, but the US has said it will not give in to what it sees as North Korean blackmail. In recent weeks, Pyongyang has ratcheted even further its normally belligerent rhetoric. On Sunday, Pyongyang accused the US of planning a secret strike on the Yongbyon reactor and warned such an operation could trigger "horrifying nuclear disasters".

  16. Very true.......but it just shows how far down the line Israel has gone, and how difficult it has become for Organization such as the world bank to remain silent and that s a good thing.
  17. World Bank criticises Israel Many Palestinians live on $2 a day Israeli-imposed closures in the West Bank and Gaza Strip are continuing to cause severe economic problems for Palestinians, according to a new report from the World Bank. It says more than half the Palestinian population is now living on less than two dollars a day and that only massive foreign aid is preventing full economic collapse. This is an attempt by the World Bank to quantify in facts and figures the enormous human suffering the conflict with Israel is causing the Palestinian people. It says the main cause has been Israel's closure of routes from Palestinian areas into Israel and the imposition of curfews and closures in Palestinian towns and villages. "In practice, these restrictions are applied more rigorously to manufacturers and traders attempting to move goods out of Palestinian cities than to those bringing goods in from Israel," says the report. Israel's challenge The World Bank acknowledges that Israel has regretted the impact of these measures, which it says are aimed at stopping suicide bombers and gunmen from killing its citizens. However, the Bank stresses that the actions of the Israeli Government have a direct impact on the Palestinian economy. "The challenge is to find ways of [defending Israel's citizens] without destroying the Palestinian economy and livelihoods of ordinary Palestinians." Overall, the Bank estimates that the intifada, or uprising, which began in September 2000, has now cost the Palestinian economy more than $5bn - the equivalent to all the wealth created by Palestinians the previous year. PALESTINIAN TRENDS 2002 Gross national income: $3.3bn (2001: $4.5bn) Gross domestic product: $3bn (2001: $4bn) Exports: -34.8% (2001: -13%) Imports: -17.3% (2001: -29%) Source: World Bank Half the workforce is without a job and 60% - about two million people - live on less than $2 a day. The report also points out that the private sector has borne the brunt of Israel's incursions, with agriculture and commercial assets suffering more than half of all physical damage. Need for reform The World Bank says the process of reforming the Palestinian Authority is crucial in rebuilding its international credibility. It says considerable progress has been made but that the Authority risks losing its legitimacy to govern unless the full reform programme is successful. Adolescents are prone to trauma As well as cataloguing the economic deprivation, the World Bank highlighted the plight of male adolescents, who it said increasingly resorted to violent behaviour. "Of an age to understand economic hardships that their families face, but generally too young and inexperienced to be able to help much, they are particularly susceptible to trauma," the report says. Nevertheless, it adds Palestinian society has displayed great cohesion and resilience. "Despite violence, economic hardship and daily frustrations of living under curfew and closure, lending and sharing are widespread and families for the most part remain functional. "The West Bank and Gaza has absorbed levels of unemployment that would have torn the social fabric in many other societies." Bleak prospects For the long-term, the World Bank is concerned that the Palestinians' competitiveness is being eroded with each passing month. It is important, however, to underline that such a policy shift will require the active cooperation of Israel to succeed World Bank report Total investment in the territories has contracted from $1.5bn in 1999 to $450m in 2002. The World Bank also notes that the intifada has demonstrated how dependent the Palestinian economy is on exporting labour to Israel. Internal closure has made it hard for many workers to travel through Gaza or the West Bank to work in Israel. The report concludes that restoring access to the Israeli labour market would be the quickest way to boost incomes for ordinary Palestinians. However, it calls for a more "diversified development strategy" to reduce the Palestinians' economic dependence on Israel. "It is important, however, to underline that such a policy shift will require the active cooperation of Israel to succeed, and is thus part and parcel of a political rapprochement."
