  1. ur wlcmed modesty. Your right the army also i might add recruit strongly from several minority groups such as the African Americans & Hispanics because knowing the deprieved background they jump to the oppotunity with questioning too much. It is a shame, they die to uphold the same status qou that they suffer from. Evereyone and the blind mans dog knows why this war against iRAQ was wagged. And everyone should know that the renewed Interest in africa is not for benin purposes even if they have offered some £15bn to fight aid, which i believe comes with some conditions (as usual). Liberia has Precious stones, gems and diamonds, while the west african region itself has plenty of oil reserves. So it would be yet another sclap and feather to add to their Imperial Cap if they could established new Military bases in that region in addition to the bases it has established in East Africa to Combat 'Terrorism'.
  2. Barge Poles For " New Europe's " Mercenaries, War for Oil is A-OK" By CHRIS FLOYD In a political world blackened with the stinking pitch of lies, distortion and death-dealing hypocrisy, a shining knight of truth stepped boldly forth last week. With admirable--if ruthless--honesty, Polish Foreign Minister Wlodzimierz Cimioszewicz openly declared that his nation joined the Anglo-American crusade against Iraq for one purpose only: a share of the plunder from the conquered country's oil fields . Here was no shifting, no spin, no crocodile tears about "democracy" and "liberation" such as are wont to dribble down the ever-flapping cheeks of Crusader George and his faithful page Tony. While new each day seems to bring another tortured "justification" for aggressive war from the Coalition's loquacious leaders, bold Cimioszewicz dispensed with pious cant and spoke plainly, the BBC reports. "We have never hidden our desire for Polish oil companies to finally have access to sources of commodities," the minister told a group of Polish magnates gathered to sign an agreement allowing them to join the corporate hunting packs from the United States and Britain in tearing off chunks of the Iraqi carcass. Indeed, access to Iraq's oilfields "is our ultimate objective," Cimioszewicz told the press. That's why Poland contributed a small combat force to the invasion: to seal its claims to loot in blood. It's the Bush Doctrine, you see: "If you wanna share the bread, you gotta pile up the dead." Now that the Poles have made their bones (figuratively and literally), the Busha Nostra will cut them in for a taste. But the wise Warsawians know it's not enough to be willing to blow the bejesus out of a few swarthy Arabs (and their children)--or even to expose your own young soldiers to the ever-present threat of a cruel and pointless death occupying a distant land where they're not wanted. That might get you a pat on the head from the White House, but it won't achieve your "ultimate objective." No, for that, you must cross the proper palms with silver. And those would be the hot little hands of the Halliburton Corporation, the great googily-moogily of militarized American commerce. The well-connected conglomerate has been handed billions in taxpayer money--often in open-ended, no-bid, have-a-spree contracts--to supply military, construction and energy services to the Potomac Empire's far-flung outposts around the globe. Most recently they've taken up yet another profitable little sideline, courtesy of the White House: controlling Iraq's oil fields--the second largest petroleum reserves in the world. Halliburton was once headed by Vice President Dick Cheney, who still receives a hefty sum in "deferred compensation" from the company every year. Under Cheney, Halliburton milked government grants and credits for its private business ventures--including $73 million in profitable deals with Mr. Mass Graves himself, Saddam Hussein. Sure, it was blood money, but profit is profit, right? As CEO Cheney himself said in 1998: "The good Lord didn't see fit to put oil and gas only where there are democratic regimes friendly to the United States." Halliburton gave Cheney $36 million as a parting gift when he left the firm just before the 2000 election--and they've made out like the proverbial bandits since their old boss ascended to his secure, undisclosed location behind the Bushist throne. So when Poland's business elite wanted a share in the carve-up of Iraq, they knew just where to go: Cimioszewicz signed on the dotted line for a partnership with Halliburton, new lords of Iraq's oil. The "ultimate objective" at last! But of course, Poland is just a bit player on the great world stage. It's all very well for such riff-raff to act solely from the desire for filthy lucre--but surely the knights-errant at the apex of the Coalition were guided by nothing but the loftiest intentions. Surely they wouldn't kill people and put their own troops in danger just to grab "access to sources of commodities," would they? Well, they might. Last week, Coalition commander General Tommy Franks admitted that he launched the invasion two weeks ahead of schedule, before the full complement of troops, supplies and support were in place, the Guardian reports. And why did he send his underprepared army storming across the border in such a hurry? To liberate the languishing natives more quickly? To seize those weapons of mass destruction that had been pinpointed so accurately? Of course not. Franks said he jumped the gun because "intelligence sources" thought the Iraqis were planning to set fire to the oil fields. And we couldn't let that happen, could we? What would be the point of invading the place otherwise? How would Halliburton fill its coffers? Who would sign Dick Cheney's checks? So out went months of planning, and in went the cannon fodder, their lives as meaningless to their masters then as they are now--dying in ambushes day after day, their deaths dismissed by Don Rumsfeld as "militarily insignificant" and used by Bush as material for playground taunts: "Bring 'em on!" Real tough guys, aren't they--launching their bluster from a world away, behind a phalanx of armed guards, during breaks from their golf games or lavish fundraisers. Not for their dainty hands the grubby rifle clutched nervously on a Baghdad patrol; not for their pampered flesh the ambusher's bullet, the guerrilla's bomb. But "access to sources of commodities?" Ah yes, that belongs to them alone: massive loot to be ladled out to their corporate sponsors--and to their spear-carriers, their helots, the self-confessed mercenaries of the "New Europe." 5. Unite Against Graft, Says Kibaki The Nation (Nairobi) July 13, 2003 Nairobi Let us fight tribalism and poverty together, he tells African Union President Mwai Kibaki has called on African countries to unite against corruption, tribalism and poverty, which he termed enemies of unity in the continent. The President said most of Africa's problems were caused by poor governance. He said the unity exhibited by Kenyans in the last elections represented the aspirations of African people in fighting the problems afflicting them. "This is what the Kenyan people united for. Corruption, tribalism and poverty are the real enemies to an integrated Africa. We must fight these ills together," he said. President Kibaki was addressing the second ordinary session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union on Friday evening in Maputo, Mozambique. It was his first international assignment outside the East Africa since he took over the presidency on December 30, and spoke moments after holding lengthy discussions with United Nations secretary-general Kofi Annan, and World Bank President Horst Kohler. President Kibaki thanked those who sent him congratulatory messages on his election. "I would like to thank the many leaders with us here, who have sent us congratulatory messages, following my election as President of the Republic of Kenya. "I acknowledge the active role played by the African Union observer mission in declaring the election as having been free, fair, and an expression of the will of the Kenyan people," he said. The President said last year's launching of the African Union in Durban, South Africa, reflected the realisation that integration was the most viable strategy for Africa's development. The President appealed to the international community to avoid exaggerating small differences between African countries and instead help them to unite. The President urged the members to play an active role in conflict resolution in Africa. Kenya, he said, had made good progress in the mediation of the Sudanese and Somalia peace initiatives. He was confident that through sustained mediation and the resolve demonstrated by the parties in the Sudan conflict, Africa's longest running conflict would be brought to an end soon. On the Somali issue, the President reported that the Somali National Reconciliation Conference in Nairobi had entered a critical phase focusing on power sharing. He expressed gratitude to the international community for their support for the conference. Acknowledging the complimentary role played by the New Partnership for Africa's Development (Nepad) to the AU, the President said there was need to harmonise the organisation's programmes with the economic agenda of the union to avoid duplication of activities. He, however, expressed concern over the non-representation of East and Central African countries in Nepad's steering committee. He hoped that the forum would resolve the issue and incorporate two additional members to represent the two regions. Kenya, he said, had raised the issue of non-representation of East and Central African countries in the steering committee. "We see a need to incorporate two additional members in the committee to represent the two regions." On health, the President called for more intensified efforts in containing HIV/Aids, malaria and tuberculosis. On Aids, he said the major challenge was in the provision of drugs which were currently out of reach for most people in Africa. He said there was need to look for new financial resources to supplement the efforts of the Global Fund for Aids and target millions of children orphaned by the disease. Mr Kibaki said Kenya was committed to fighting terrorism, stressing that Kenya will co-operate with other members of the African Union and the international community in pursuing a common approach against the vice. Accompanying the President are Cabinet ministers Kalonzo Musyoka, Prof Anyang' Nyong'o, Dr Newton Kulundu, Dr Chris Murungaru and Permanent Secretaries Peter ole Nkuraiya and David Nalo. Meanwhile, President Kibaki, who had a busy day in Maputo, also held talks on Friday with Presidents Levy Mwanawasa of Zambia and Omar el Bashir of Sudan, and the World Trade Organisation Director-General, Dr Supachai Panitchpakdi. President Kibaki briefed El Bashir on the ongoing Sudan peace talks in Nakuru. He informed Dr Panitchpakdi of Kenya's position regarding the upcoming World Trade Organisation meeting to be held in September. ---------------------------------------------------------------- P.S Women Slowly Making Political Inroads Source: Allafrica.com

  8. This is why in Prinicple i cannot agree with the Idea of separating ourselves into small countries. Quite frankly we are in no position to withstand any intrusions by Ethopia into Somali area's, and american can very well come and dominate Somali area's when the find a reasonable angle to argue for military action. Ofcourse having now witnessed and understood the level of Hostility distrust and sheer anger that exists between somali's on the ground, i can see perhaps i was abit naive to assume that my call for unite might be resoundly supported. But Neverthless i stand by it. What point will there be in separation whilst the Two named powers continue to intrude and meddle in somali affairs, what states will we have when our Natural resources become degraded? Our nation, or states, cannot be politically free if they are economically dependadnt on outside support, whether it be through the UN or Arabian Gulf countries or whatever else. So we must stay united, @ least on this front and where possible make a common statement of intent as regading The continued Interest of Ethopia regarding The various natural resources in somali area's and of course The USa. I Would also say: the biggest obsticale from our own prespective which we must acknowledge and take blame is the world loards and their obstruction of peace. Inshallah soon, whether it be through the recently established Cabinbet in Kenya or something else, they various militia men will begin to demobilse and hand in the weapons. Then those of us in the disapora can relastically start to think about perhaps returning back to somalia and making a contributuion towards its return to normalacy

  12. I couldnt agree more with Mahthir's Sentiments. We Need more People of His Caliber vision and Integretiy @ the Center of Power in Muslim Lands. We as somali's Need someone with such a vision and charisima to Unite us under the banner of Islam, regardless of whether we Haile from The North or South, because we all face the same issues and problems.
  13. I will have time for the original poster because as usual some (not all) contributors have displayed the usual flair for dramtics. That is a deep poem, it concludes "i shall forgive but never forget", i doubt no one can logically argue with such a sumetion. But That isnt unfortunately what is happening Zadiqa. Indeed most people in this fourm, (who were ((thankfully)) most certainly too young to even rember the truma and horror of ethinic War) are certainly not forgeting and are indeed employing victim-hood to push forward whatever they precieve to be right. What is right is we move forward and whatever way best to do so should be adopted and promoted. So if i is separation then fine. What should be avoided is the stirring up of old hatreds by revisiting past barbarism, which can only be distructive.
  14. I'v lost the little respect i had for H Kewel as a player. What on earth could he see in Liverpool from a football perspective?
