  1. Garoweonline-Galkayo This is from President Farooles son's own website. Gaalkayo is definitely peaceful and good, they just have major issue with the admin. In recent months, the town has been the scene of violent attacks among local clans and militiamen have staged attacks on government outposts, including the prison
  2. Mr. Somalia, the people back home are fully aware whats going on and that's why Gaalkayo is where it is. They won't turn a blind eye! The media is being intimidated and the truth is coming out to the rest of the world.
  3. Puntland will never breakaway ever, they have way too much common sense! Your enclave of NW Sonmalia where the two opposition leaders are from the same family, Puntland, the South all can't become an independant country....A TRIBE WON'T RECOGNIZED. Back to the picture, Why are they holding the Somali flag in the heart of your enclave if they can't stand each other?
  4. Poker, It is only the beating that is concerning, if photographers were allowed in the court room and told not to take the pics (which makes no sense) then confiscate the camera's. In other parts of the world if photographs are not allowed then they wouldn't let you bring them in. No need to beat! Lest you forget: TIA(This Is Africa!) Lets not turn a blind eye to the injustices going on or find excuses. We blamed the former admim for corruption, now lets make sure we point out corruption now.
  5. Doesn't look like they all dislike, this is Boorama this week.
  6. In late June, Deputy Information Minister Abdishakur Mire Adan and the son of Puntland's president, Mohamed Abdirahman Farole, told Horseed Media to remove a May 11 article posted on their Web site, according to the editor-in-chief of Horseed Media, Mahad Mussa. Mussa told CPJ the article was a follow-up to two stories written by the New York Times alleging links between the Puntland government and a pirate leader named Abshir Boyah. Horseed Media refused to take the article down. The media company has investigated links between the pirates and certain Puntland officials. How are people remaining silent now? This Abshir Boyah is this same one that President Faroole son met with and took a journalist to interview. President Pirate TimesUK Our meeting takes place at a virtually deserted farm 15km outside Garowe. Mohamed is the son of the newly elected president of Puntland and does not want to be seen in public cavorting with pirates. Moreover, Boyah has recently contracted tuberculosis and Mohamed insists that we meet him in an open space. The major Puntland sites are being intimidated from writing the truth, why would they be making it up. A simple picture will get you beat. However people remain silent and turn a blind eye. How are things getting so much better if the truth is being with held, why is the President SON telling them to remove unfavorable articles? That's what Garoweonline did for years. Why is he meeting with Pirates to? Gaalkayo In recent months, the town has been the scene of violent attacks among local clans and militiamen have staged attacks on government outposts, including the prison. Gaalkayo is attacking government buildings and the majority doesn't recognize the admin. This is Garoweonline writing this to (Ina Farooles site). Why are they so upset? The delegation was sent there to try and calm the people. If they inherited a huge mess that's one thing, but meeting pirate leaders, beating up journalists and demanding sites remove unfavorable articles is inexcusable. The only thing that gets me is that people are too critical with other admins. But when evidence is presented to them that show the person they support engaging in illegal activity they remain completely silent. 1) The media is being intimidated by the president son according to puntlandpost and now horseednet. 2) President son is meeting pirates. 3)Galkayo is furious with the government. Maybe Reer Gaalkayo know that if they had a leader elected that was born in the biggest pirate base people would have been accusing him of using those funds to win the presidency (especially when all of it exploded the year of the election) or Maybe they are upset that the President rarely ventures out of Garowe or maybe that the presidents son who has no official role in the government is intimidating people. But yeah, I guess the number 1 thing that gets me was the uproar in the past about corruption and now the silence when western and Puntland sites are writing these articles!! It is mind boggling.
  7. ^^^Imika khaad cunistiisa waa lanag badsadaa saaxiib..... 571 is one of the largest supplier in Buttland and Southern Somali at large. Why name your drug company that? "571 Allah Amin" Do you think it helps your cause for recognition when you are dependant on drugs?
  8. Court Assault Somalia: Puntland Police assaults journalists in open Court Wednesday, July 15th, 2009 at 6:15 pm By: Hussein Farah Horseed Media Aweys Haji Nuur Aweys Haji Nur a well known Somali journalists working for Horseed Media FM Radio, was assaulted by police officers in Bosaso court, on Wednesday. Aweys Haji Nuur was severely beaten by Puntland police in the court room, as he attended the trail of Somali pirates. “….We were invited by the Puntland officials to attend the trail of several men accused of Piracy….as we arrived Bosaso district court, we identified ourselves as journalists….we were allowed to take pictures and audio during the trail….” Said Aweys the journalist who sustained minor injuries from the beating. It was not clear why the polices officers attacked the journalists during the hearing. “….I took three pictures from the court, one from the public, I took another pictures of the men who were on trail, and the third picture that I took was the Prosecutor greeting a family member of one of the defendants….” said Aweys, adding that he suspects that the prosecutor didn’t wanted to be photographed as he mingled with relatives of the pirates before the hearing started. “….I told them that I will delete any pictures that they were protesting to, and I deleted that last picture, but it didn’t stop them, they continued to beat us with AK 47 rifles…” said Aweys. “….it was strange and sinister how the governments officials acted…they even encouraged the actions of the soldiers….” said Abdikani one of the other journalists who came to Aweys’s rescue. Puntland officials in the court, including the judge did not intervene as the soldiers assaulted the journalists in the crowded court room. We don’t like journalists One Puntland official even openly welcomed the actions of the soldiers. “….We don’t like what you broadcast, you journalists are against the government….” Said a Provincial Police officer as the journalists outside the court room complained about the beating. “….we are calling for the Puntland government to apologize for this attack on Aweys ….we call them to Investigate and Prosecute the Perpetrators ….” Said Mahad Mussa head of Horseed Media. Aweys Haji Nuur is one of the radio producers and reporter of Horseed Media, an independent popular FM radio based in Bosaso city. The authorities in the region regularly target independent media for reporting the uncensored news to the local public and the Somali Diaspora living abroad. On Monday another two journalists working for Horyaal FM Radio were arrested in Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, they were accused by the President of Somaliland Dahir Riyale of reporting recent clan conflict in his home region of southern Somaliland district of Gebiley. Such acts are common to Somali journalists, who frequently face threats, kidnappings, beatings and even death. Since 2009 six journalists were killed in the country and more fled their homes, for fear of reprisals.
  9. Horseednet Somalia: Puntland releases suspected pirates Friday, July 17th, 2009 at 12:05 pm By: Mohamed Osman Horseed Media Ahmed Taaran, Puntland Prosecutor in Bosaso Court (File Picture - Horseed Media) This week four suspected Somali pirates were released from Bosaso jail, while a journalist was beaten up by guards for taking pictures in the court room. On Wednesday the trail of four suspected pirates convened in the coastal town of Bosaso. In Bosaso jail more than 60 suspected pirates are still awaiting their day in court. These suspected pirates were captured by the NATO forces patrolling the Gulf of Aden and then handed over to the Puntland administration (Northeastern Somalia). So far half of the suspected pirates are sentenced to jail terms. Assault in a court room Journalists and other guests were invited by the Puntland government to attend the hearing, on Wednesday. Though before the hearing could start the court room turned chaotic, when several guards in the court room attacked a journalists working for Horseed Media. The journalist took some pictures of the government’s prosecutor Ahmed Taaran, as he was talking to the relatives of the defendants. The Journalist, Aweys Haji Nur sustained minor injuries after the Prosecutor’s private bodyguards beat him up in the court room. The guards who attacked the journalist started their assault when the prosecutor Ahmed Taaran asked not to be photographed while he dealt with the relatives of the defendants in the court room. According to Aweys, the guards were against the pictures that he took of the Prosecutor Mr.Ahmed engaged in a long conversation with the relatives of the defendants just before the hearing started. “….they continued to beat me up, with Ak 47 rifles even after I showed them, that I have deleted the pictures…..” says Aweys who was upset that none of the Puntland officials including the judge did not intervened, the assault in the court room. In Puntland the media is allowed to cover and broadcast in the court room, during the hearing and sentencing. Most of the times the Puntland administration invites the journalists to cover the trails of suspected pirates. “…the behaviour of the prosecutor was strange ordering the attack in the court room, even without the consent of the judge..…but he did got away with it….” says Abdirashid Ali who attended the hearing. The release of suspects On Thursday, the four suspected pirates were released from Bosaso jail, no further information were given to the media. “… I believe the release of these men might be linked with the prosecutor Ahmed Taaran, who didn’t wanted to be seen mingling with some of the relatives of the pirates….Many people in Bosaso will tell you it is not the first time that the prosecutor releases people with out a proper trail…..” Says Mr.Ali. When Horseed Media tried to contact the Judge Mohamed Aware who presided the case, he was not available to take the call. One court, One Judge and One prosecutor Mohamed Abdi Aware, Bosaso District court Judge (File Picture: Horseed Media) Puntland administration currently has only one court that it uses to trail suspected pirates, which is Bosaso district court. Puntland’s Minister of Justice Abdirisak Gesod told Horseed Media in an interview, that they use Bosaso court for such trails because of security reasons. The court has one permanent judge Mohamed Abdi Aware and one single prosecutor Ahmed Taaran. Many people question whether such a court can handle both civil and criminal cases in the biggest city of Puntland region. No international backing to combat piracy Abdurahman Farole, Puntland President who is currently visiting London, blamed the international community for not supporting his administration financially with their plans to combat piracy. In an interview with the BBC Somali service President Farole, said that his administration successfully prosecuted and sentenced some Somali pirates without any help from the international community. The pirates den ‘Eyl’ Abdurahman Mohamed Farole President of Puntland President Farole, who’s birth town of Eyl is named the pirates den of Somalia, said he was using the help of religious and clan elders to convince those pirates in Eyl to stop their piracy activities. He says this approach is working. Still Somali pirates continue to attack vessels off the coast of Somalia. On the latest hijacking, Somali pirates successfully hijacked a small boat from India, just miles off the coast of Bosaso, the commercial capital of Puntland. The pirates forced the boat towards Bab el Mandeb, north of Somalia, and tried to hijack MVA Elephant, a Liberian tanker on Monday. The small boat was later freed on Wednesday after a joint operation by the Indian and French navies. Horseed Media
  10. This is why Northwest Somalia won't be taken serious with independence. NW Somalia&Khat We" is "571 Allah Amin," a family business started 15 years ago that has grown to become Somaliland’s biggest khat importer Only in Northwest Somalia would you name your Khat business "571 Allah Amin" astagfurallah Thursday is the busiest day of the week because, as one man explained, Friday is the Muslim day of rest so everyone can sleep off their khat hangover. . I can picture an international monitoring group arriving and witnessing people so addicted they get hangovers.
  11. Excuse me..! Puntland doesn't have one single aiport that has a cement runway!!! None in Gaalkayo in Bosasso or in between. The seaport was half built but then the war broke out in 91. Unlike Northwest Somalia and the South that both got theirs built by before the war!! Puntland HAD NOTHING built except the road! Ayoub, The problems orignate because of political reasons, people wanted to lead the area so they purposely made the last year pretty bad. But now they got to live with the mess. Unlike your region where you never change leadership unless someone dies and have cancelled 3 elections. Which might be help you! I think in Puntland they have to use the South Korean approach, one 5 year term with no possibility of re-election. If not everyone will just make things as bad as they can so they can and allow criminals to set up shop so they can get power.
  12. Puntland had nothing during the entire history of Somalia, no airport with a real runway, or finished port. Everything it had, they did on it's own. Unlike Hargeysa/Berbera and Mogadishu. Human Smuggling occurs no where near the Bosasso and hours outside the city. The lack of development is a cause of this.
  13. Tough guys, no one covering their faces ashamed of anything. They are wearing military uniforms and not dressed as civilians, hiding behind women and children. The other side wear the cimaamad and if they are surrounded throw it away and pretend they are civilians.
  14. I'm telling you, the Washington, Minnesota, Chatham house trips. President Faroole is positioning himself for the Federal presidency. I've heard that's his ultimate goal. It's impressive.
  15. Animals can fight and kill something, so picking up a gun is not as noble as many think. Education is the key! We need the educated to return and help the people, we have enough gunmen there, we don't need anymore travelling there to kill. Link The Prime Minister of Pakistan Mr. Sayid Usuf Raza Gailani awarded a gold medal to a Somali student. The student, named Mr. Yoonis Hasan Hussein (Alifow), was awarded the medal for graduating with highest GPA (4 out of 4) and becoming the first in a class of 90 students graduating with Master of Science in Economics (MSc Economics) at the Collage of Economic Studies at the International Islamic University of Islamabad (IIUI). The awarding ceremony was well organized and took place at the convention hall of the university. It is not the first time Mr. Yoonis is awarded a gold medal for academic achievement. In 2008, he received a gold medal from Sahrad University of Science and Information Technology Peshwar (SUIT) by graduating the first in his class for Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA). At today’s ceremony, 2267 students received degrees. Six of those receiving the degrees received PhDs. Prime Minister Raza Gailani awarded gold medals to the 34 students who graduated at the top of their classes. IIUI University is the third largest university in Pakistan according to the President of the university Dr. Anwar Sidiqi. The university was established in 1985. Students from several countries including Somalia, Yemen, Indonesia, Malaysia, Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Bosnia and Ghana study at the university
  16. A female soldier from the Somali government forces patrols near the presidential palace. Where is Kashafa? This is who he is fighting against.
  17. Ina lilahi wa ina ilayhi rajioon Rudy, it's as I suspected. The somali sites aren't very reliable bro! They'll write whatever they want, and hide their name. The ones that took the pictures (which was wrong to do), probably new he was not a afghan or pakistani, but rather someone who came from the west. I've been to Somalia numerous times, and they can spot a western Somalia from a mile away. Even if you dress exactly like them, they can tell by the way you walk, talk, sit eat.....etc etc. That you are came from somewhere else. Regardless how well you think you know the language and culture, you will stick out there!!!! I think they wanted to show concrete evidence that people western boys are there.
  18. The Somali source can't always be trusted so forget this afghan stuff, the picture will be the big key as this story develops. I believe the link I showed and the picture are together.
  19. Here's some more pictures of the Presidents welcoming in London. More Pics Ina Faroole
  20. I believe they mean he is a Somalia that came from the west to fight. Maybe that's what they mean by foreign fighter. link Minneapolis Somali man killed in homeland By ALLIE SHAH, Star Tribune Last update: July 11, 2009 - 4:41 PM Print this story E-mail this story Save to del.icio.us Yet another Minneapolis Somali man is reported to have died in his homeland, bringing a fresh wave of grief and fear to the Twin Cities Somali community. Jamal Bana, 20, a former Minneapolis college student, was shot in the temple, according to sources who have talked to his family members. It was unclear what day he died or why he was killed. FBI officials said Saturday they could not confirm the news. Bana's family could not be reached for immediate comment. Bana was among a group of Somali-American men from Minneapolis who abruptly left their homes last November for their native Somalia. Federal authorities have been investigating the possible connection between terrorist groups and the disappearances of as many as 20 young Somali men in the Twin Cities since last fall, when Shirwa Ahmed, a 26-year-old college student from Minneapolis, apparently blew himself up in Somalia in a coordinated attack that killed up to 30 people. A second youth, Burhan Hassan, turned up dead in Somalia this spring. He, too, was shot in the head.
  21. this is getting ridiculous, remember this is the cyber world! Concentrate on your own province and grown men that lie about travelling with the passport.
  22. Fair enough, I agree with you. However, I just returned from Puntland and I didn't speak to a single woman there that wanted Al Shabaab to come over. I think the female population is by far the group that is most against your movement. They are enjoying the peace they have and don't take it for granted. If anyone comes like you claim and causes years of fighting, it will definitely turn the people against them. I remember during the Puntland elections many people didn't want Hassan Abshir because he was perceived to be too religious, they'll never accept a bunch of guys running around with their faces hidden and carrying guns, in Puntland we don't cover our faces. The whole population wants religion, but not someone’s interpretation of it. And you think the fleet-footed 'daraawiish' of Puntland stand a chance against the battle-hardened veterans of Istadiyum Muqdisho and the jungles of Ras Kambooni ? Come on. Let's leave room for the truth, even if it's bitter. I do actually, because those group you support use force and no Brain. Instead of sitting at the table with Somalis from every corner of the country and winning the hearts of the people, they are seen merely as another tribal movement. They only know violence, and the think that their perceived reputations as bullies will intimidate people, like a school yard bully. But like I said, the leadership of the movement won't make the same mistake as last time, they'll stay in the south. If they come with their guns and cause war, they will turn the people against them and suffer the same fate they did in 95 with Aweys and Co.
  23. Could you elaborate on where he is wrong ? Because I agree with him. SL and PL are a) in no position to dictate anything b) no different than Kismaayo-land, Baidoba-land, Mogadisho-land, and any other 'land' in Somalia. c) will recieve no special consideration. The days when clans(masquerading as maamul goboleeds) 'determined' and 'demanded' anything is over. They will either get on their knees and submit. Like Hiiraale did. Like Xaabasde did. Like Indocadde did. Like the Nine Warlords of Mogadisho did. Or they will be force-fed the dirt of humiliation and enjoy the taste of red death. The red death can't even get back the life lines of Mogadishu, the Air and Sea Port and Villa Somalia from 2000 or so AU troops? Yet you think you will take over the whole country. Even the leaders there won't dare make the same mistake and try to go too far north last time, they won't spread their forces like they did before. They were destroyed in days and lost their capital just a few years ago, yet some supports are talking tough again. They know better and won't go near North or North West Somalia.
  24. I find that there are some that are untruthful and are using deceptive tactics. To start a thread which has a link and a quote from a reporter who goes to Hargeysa and says that a currency trader there also acts as a man that sells Republic of Somalia passports, which is something that is illegal in NW Somalia. The man is doing this because that's the only passport that works internationally and the trader needs to forge the signature of the minister in Mogadishu. However, Mr. Jacaylbaro claims to have made many trips (a claim his has made many times) with his NW Somalia passport, including Europe. Then let JB explain why are they selling Somalia Republic passports in hargeysa illegally if JB can use his like he claims? He’ll dodge the question as usual, maybe accuse the person of crying or anything else to keep him from answering. The lies need to stop and the person needs to be called out on it. If you let them slide they will continue. He started this thread which completely contradicts his claim of using the NW Somalia's passport. He slipped up by starting this thread and has been exposed once again. He refuses to answer the question on why his claim is contradicting the thread he started! We are grown men, there's no need to make false claims. We all have our own point of views and political affiliations, but there is no need to make up untrue statements; like being able to travel with an invalid passport.
  25. MoonLight1, you're right i'll leave him alone I think it's a fair question though, he started this thread. Which say's the NW Somalia's passport can't be used. But he claims to have used it! I think your back pocket theory makes more sense, never thought of that!!!
