Galkacyu: Puntland security forces capture former governor staff
Thankful replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
I am not supporting anyone brother. I am just saying the governor was arrested because his son murdered someone and fled. It is common to arrest the father when someone has done this and fled. This has nothing to do with the assasination, if it did, the governor would have been arrested a long time ago. Also, to say that the former governor was arrested because someone was murdered under his watch is not fair as well. Even though it is written when we will die, why was the minister walking around Gaalkayo without guards? Like I said, the former governor was arrested for the murder his son committ yesterday and not the assasination. -
Galkacyu: Puntland security forces capture former governor staff
Thankful replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Puntlandpost xabisga Gudoomiyaha ayaa waxa uu ka danbeeyey sida la sheegay ka dib markii wiil uu dhalay si bareer ah u dilay wiil dhalinyaro ah bartamaha magaalada Gaalkacyo. This is garoweonline trying to spin this and make it out to have to do with ministers death. Why would they arrest him now? He'll be released soon, you'll see. However, in Somalia sometimes they will arrest the parents of a killer if he has fled, since it is so easy to flee and get away, the arrest the parents. This has nothing to do with the information minister, it has to do with the murder that the governor son committed today, and the fact that they can't arrest him! -

Somalia: Is it a pure envy or a deep-rooted enmity against Puntland?
Thankful replied to Mr. Somalia's topic in Politics
Originally posted by -MARX-: I am not hater personally. I give credit where its due Is that so? Not a hater huh, but you will give credit where it is due. Then tell me something you will give Puntland credit for. You just said you will give it when it's due, however you have never given it credit or compliments on a single thing. So I ask you, what does it deserve credit with? I have been to Puntland many times, I can say that I never felt danger once, I enjoyed every minute of it. I travel by myself at night in every major city, from Bosasso, Gaalkayo, Goldogob and back. Absolutely loved it, that's why I keep going back. I was there in December and Januaury of this year, GREAT TIME. The only time I didn't like it was the day I had to fly out. All I ever heard through the media/sol members was how bad it was and how things were crumbling. I never saw it, I am pretty sure the people who speak bad about or the previous admin have never been to the state during that time. If it was so bad they wouldnt'have lasted their full term. But that's another debate.....regardles s, Puntland was an AMAZING experience, I hope that people who haven't been their for a long time(2-3 yrs) go back. They will never believe that this is the same state they they left especially Bosasso. -
This is just another development that was started by Puntland. The news that the UAE is lifting the ban is a result of the maxjarka that the previous Puntland admin had built. For years Somali livestock was banned, so the previous admin made a deal and built it's own quarantine that met the the specifications that would allow our livestock to pass their health codes. The same company that help build this quarantine also built one in NW Somalia, near Hargeysa I believe. Weftiga Imaaraatka iyo Cumaan oo booqday Maxjarka Tuesday, 12-Aug 2008 Boosaaso,Puntland:We ftigii shirkada Alkhaliij iyo Sadanada Cumaan oo booqday Maxjarka. Weftigan shalay galab soo gaaray Puntland gaar ahaan Magaalada Boosaaso ayaa waxa ay soo kormeereen Xarunta Maxajarka iyo shaybaarka loogu talagalay in lagu daaweeyo xoolaha la dhoofinayo. You have already said Abdullahi Yusuf and Sharif are in the hall of Shame, but now I want to know who Rudy will put in the hall of FAME.

Okay, you said Yeey and Sharif are in the hall of shame. But who would YOU say is in the hall of fame?
-
Name who is in the hall of fame. Or are you just always hating and supporting no one.

the great developmental strides made thus far by the Farole administration are either completely buried under the rug or presented as potentially ruinous political adventures. What great developmental strides? Great is a strong word.

Puntland to be HQ for Somali National Navy: part of agreement
Thankful replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Che, Why are you so critcal of Puntland. You disliked Col Abdullahi Yusuf, you disliked Gen Cade Muse. You laugh when Puntland announces that they will be the HQ's of the navy. I understand why Secessionist would or others who had a interest in not seeing Puntland progress. But you hide your hatred towards the state and come off as if you are neutral. How can you possibly say anything about piracy, the biggest ships taken the one with oil and the one with the tanks were both done by the southern pirates. Everyone was living in Mogadishu, had land and business, any had to flee. Now they have built something in Puntland out of nothing and you seem bitter! Maybe because they have done more through peace then the people you support (which I am still unsure who they are). I'm sure i'll get a response like "the children of Mogadishu". -
Is Puntland a Clan Enclave or a Viable State of Somalia?
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Ilko-Jiir came from the U.S and had the second highest amount of votes in the last elections. He lost to President Faroole who himself had lost in 2005. Insha'Allah if Ilko-Jiir chooses to run next elections, he'll be a very high contender. I don't know if joining Faroole admin was a wise decision if he has future aspiration to be President of Puntland. Time will tell. firstly, 90% of sanag including its capital erigavo is populated by pure somalilanders Pure huh , exactly why it is a clan state! There different levels of people. i hope these people never become president of somaliland in my view, however it doesnt mean they cant compete for it. One word WOW!!!!!! -
Is Puntland a Clan Enclave or a Viable State of Somalia?
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
So if NW Somalia's admin is not a clan based one. Why are both opposition parties leaders from the same clan, why is the current vice president from that clan to? Why isn't Reer Sool or Sanaag not even running for the top office, forget about winning it? It's been rig so that no matter what the dominate clan will either be vice pres or president if there are any elections which i highly doubt seeing. That is why Riyaale (from minority tribe) the current president was given the vice presidents job in the previous admin (his tribe would have threaten to refuse to accept the current NW Admin), when Egal died, Riyaale became president to keep he's people happy. But as you saw last month they are protesting and bringing out the blue and white Somali flag in Riyaale's home area's. They are sending a message, you'll see more of this if he is takin out of office. So please, the Hargeysa NW Somali admin is just as much a tribal enclave as anyone else. There's no way Sool or Sanaag will ever be made pres or vice. -
Very true, with security an issue in Gaalkayo, it is still not even comparable to the violence of Mogadishu. These pictures are powerful, they show unity. I'm sure President Sharif will arrive soon and get an even bigger welcoming. Usually people from the south who arrive in Puntland are shock to how peaceful it is.

I provide you with a video, that show's the negative and positive aspects of Siads Regime, that mentions him as one of the principle people that sent Somalia into Anarchy. And you say that it is propaganda! But you are obviously unwilling to even hear anything. The video is proof of what was built in the 70s. As for your information: - The old port of Mogadishu was built by the Italian administration. -The new port of Mogadishu was built during the SYL government rule. -The airport and port of Hargaisa were built before the SYL government, and were later expanded during the SYL government. - The port of Kismaanyo was built during 1960-1969, later expanded by UNISOM post-1991. -The airports were built before the coup. As for factories: The sugar factory in Jowhar was built before the coup, the meat factory in Kismaanyo before the coup, most of the factories in Mogadishu were built or under construction before the coup. What the military junta did was to claim the work of others. Most factories that were under construction during 1964-1969 were completed after 1970, and as a consequence the military junta lay claim to it, and took all credit. I admit that, a lot of things were started 1960-69, but there is a reason it was never completed, people began infighting and complaining. Something as simple as what letters our language should be written in was fought over and couldn't be decided. Siad came and put and end to all of it, and made decisions and finished many things. You are mentioning the SYL and other movements. They were not independent our country was not in our control. We were basically slaves under the colonialists. The SYL did lead to our independence, but don't tell me things were build by Somalis back then. We were not in control. The only use for these facilities was to export our valuable resources to our colonialists and given nothing in return. You asked for proof and I provide a video, which you can find different parts to on youtube. Video's that show the good and bad of Siad, and your reply is that he did none of it and that the video is propaganda. Well that is ridiculous becaause propaganda would be all positive and no negative. Now you are claiming so many things were built pre-Siad, I ask you to show proof.

Originally posted by Meiji: quote:Originally posted by Dabshid: His religious beliefs a side, over 90% of Somalia’s major infrastructures were built during his rule. If so, prove us sxb. Don’t spread silly propaganda. You want proof? Here it is!! To get more of an understanding of our history, since you seem to be lacking in that department watch this video to see what Siad Barre was building! Start from 2:40, you'll be shocked since you seem to be have no clue. What Siad Barre did. History has been written, he definitely built Somalia more then anyone has ever done, THIS VIDEO IS PROOF . I am not related or a fan of his. I believe that although he brought good, by the end of his reign he had left the country worse then when he took control of it. But give credit where credit is due. Every major infrastructure in Somalia was built during his time. All the Ports from Berbera, Bosasso Mogadishu and down!! The airports, anyways watch the video for your proof.
-
Lol, the excuses must end! There needs to be accountability in this admin. Mr. President and specifically the people around him need to stop pointing blame at others for everything.
-
Why is it when you talk to one NW Somali, is "relative" needs to jump in. JB, you've said enough!! You actually think that run way has been around since 1953. WOW.
-
I have no relationship to Siad, and I believe that once his powerful allies had abandoned him he was chased out and hand to go to the other side of the continent. His plan was that if he was not the leader the nation would burn. He didn’t know when to step down and put himself before anything else. Regardless of the fact, during his reign and the substantial help he received from the two super powers and other nations. Mogadishu and Hargeysa grew enormously. That's all I’m saying! The Bridge is nothing compared to an airport and sea port. You can't even compare the two. The airport and sea port is the connection to the rest of the world, even the live stock quarantine would useless without the two, and other valuable aide comes in. Every car, computer and television comes in there. There’s no factors building these things, it’s coming through the port. All the most essential infrastructure was built between 1960-91(mostly during Siad's time). That's what I’m saying. Don't try and say the hargeysa run way was built in 1953.
-
It's common sense, there is no way the aiport was built 1953, as you allege. Practically everything was built during the cold war. AFTER INDEPENDENCE in 1969.
-
Just like the vital Berbera Sea Port was completed in 1969; so was airport, around that time. The runway is not 56 years old, it was built after Somalia's independence.

loooooooooooooool, Hargeisa Airport was built in 1953 ...... nothing to do with Siyad barre except some renovations. I don't believe the runway was built 56 years ago as you imply! The buildings are easy to make, it's the asphalt run way that is the costly and difficult thing to make. That was definitely made by Siad.

Originally posted by Kool_Kat: Yup, and accoring to JB, this should be done by next summer ! I stop over at Hargeysa's airport last january, I was shocked how many old plastics bags around the side of the buildings there were, lots of garbage. But yeah, Mogadishu and Hargeysa are so lucky Siad Barre regime built them aiports.
