  1. What's going on in Hargeysa NW Somalia is of great concern to me!
  2. Democracy: "Government by the people; a form of government in which the supreme power is vested in the people and exercised directly by them or by their elected agents under a free electoral system." No matter how you might twist it, you need elections to be held in order to be a democracy!
  3. Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: Democracy .... LOOOOOOOOOL Maybe holding elections on time would be a better sign of democracy loooooooool
  4. Cawaale you are right, because it is common sense. If you have a problem with human trafficking you would enhance the security and stability of the country that they are coming from. It futher proof that Somali land is the same in their eyes. Same reason why Somalia has an embassy and ambassodor in Mogadishu and none in NW Somalia. MoonLight1, Go to the jokes section and leave the politics to adults!
  5. I guess Riyaale and his admin in NW Somalia are not as innocent as they act. I never knew he had his fingers in human smuggling.
  6. "The government has made tireless efforts to reduce the influx of Africans into its territory through contributing to enhancing stability and security in Somaliland," Muthan said. How would enhancing stability and security in NW Somalia help in stoping the influx of Africans? Unless the stability and security there is not as good as your media makes it out to be and their is a "influx" of African's leaving your enclave?? Is their a stability issue?
  7. It is obvious that Deputy Foreign Minister Ali Muthan see's Somali land as Somalia, there is no difference to him and the government he represents.

(Editing by Daniel Wallis and Robin Pomeroy) Why are you only bolding one part? What about the part before that, which says "Somalia's Northern Breakaway Enclave?? Forget about the world starting to accept Lascaanod as part of NW Somalia, they aren't even accepting NW Somalia.
  9. I agree with you, it seems that the President Faroole's admin that has a family run website and radio station, are the same ones that were cited for excessive force against the Puntland media in 2009. It's ironic.
  10. I believe Horseednet is the best Puntland news outlet. It has by far the most photos and up to date news. Whether it is concerning serious matters or something like the soccer tournament, Horseedent provides news and photos. Including as you said radio broadcasts. It is definitely a vital connection for the diaspora living all over the world in getting news on whats going on in Puntland. I remember when it first started around 2002 or so, and the strides it has made since are impressive. I definitely check it everyday! The only thing it needs to improve on is it english language section, it will open the door to more readers. That is one thing Garoweonline is good at. Cowke, Like I said, Garoweonline is the new Puntland Government Website. There is to be a new website but it's being delayed quite a bit. I am thinking that President Faroole and family will come out with it (and many other projects) towards the end of the Presidents term. He is holding back on any new development projects until the second part of this term!
  11. Originally posted by J.a.c.a.y.l.b.a.r.o: We will build your house Insha Allah .... We will make a Marshal plan for you ,,,, but you just have to know that Somailand is another country but ready to help you. Another country? See that is where you are wrong. To be another country you must be recognized by other countries. For instance you can hear of rebel groups and the mafia around the world who have a military, flag, anthem and control land. But the difference with these rebel/criminal groups and real countries, is that the real countries are recognized by a large group of other nations. Which is essential to be considered a country. So even though the taliban was recognized by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and actually had diplomatic relations, the taliban was still not recognized by significant amount of other nations! In NW Somalia's admin in Hargeysa's case, not even a single country recognizes you! You can't be a country if you are not recognized!
  12. The Somaliland people, political parties and government progressed in many areas including state building, democracy and hosting free and fair elections across the country. What planet is this author living in?
  13. Fantastic song, this young man has a lot of talent. I am sure it will become a hit with the diaspora as well as our people back home.
  14. VOA Puntland Cracks Down on Somali, Foreign Outlet Journalists Howard Lesser | Washington 07 January 2010 Press freedom advocates are awaiting a reply from the president of Puntland, Abdirahman Mohamud Farole, to accusations of harassment, censorship, detentions, and direct attacks by police officers. The New York-based Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) sent a letter to protest what it called the autonomous northeastern Somali state’s targeting of U.S. government-funded Voice of America journalists and others, who have been jailed, shot at, knocked off the airwaves, and threatened by Puntland’s information ministry and local police officials. The complaint was filed following the release of VOA Somali Service correspondent Mohamed Yasin Isak, who was held without charge for 17 days at the Puntland Intelligence Services in the port city of Bossasso. Isak was freed on Wednesday. Commitee to Protect Journalists CPJ Africa program coordinator Tom Rhodes explains that the year-long pattern of harassment stems from government objections to hard-working, professional reporters delivering frank coverage of a very sensitive political environment. “One of the reasons I think that the VOA reporters in the Somali Service have been targeted in particular has been because they have been doing an excellent job. Frankly, they’ve been quite critical, both of the government and the opposition parties. And furthermore, they’ve focused on very sensitive stories. There have been a number of political assassinations of high-ranking officials in Puntland last year, and one can suspect they didn’t like that press,” he said. Isak was briefly detained last August along with Radio Galkayo reporter Abdullahi Hersi after disclosing allegations that the son of a former governor was involved in a killing. Isak was ordered to stop working for the Voice of America, which is quite active in the gulf region. But Rhodes indicates the Somali journalist stood up to authorities. “The impression I get from talking to him and other reporters in the area is that Mohammed Yasin is a fairly brave and professional reporter, and he simply just didn’t take the threats,” said Rhodes. Two months later, Puntland’s information ministry retaliated further by ordering FM stations not to air VOA reports for one week, and he repeated orders to Isak and two other VOA correspondents, Abdulkadir Mohamed and Nuh Muse to stop what it called their unobjective reporting from the region. The shutdown lasted for one week until the journalists bounced back. VOA Somali Service broadcasts serve Puntland, Somaliland, Somalia, and the Arabian peninsula. But in November, police shot at least 15 rounds at Isak’s car at a Galkayo checkpoint, wounding him in the left arm. The gunfire followed verbal threats at a meeting of local journalists from local police commander Colonel Muse Ahmed Muse Hasasi. Then, in December, Radio Galkayo Director Hassan Jama narrowly missed being hit by two bullets fired by an unidentified officer at Galkayo Airport. Rhodes says both Isak and Jama survived their shooting ordeals. “When they shot at Mohamed Yasin’s car, one of the bullets, I believe, went through the left side of his rib cage near his left arm. And in the case of Jama, he said that two bullets actually went through his trouser legs. So there was clearly an intent to kill him, but they both managed to survive and now that we’ve had Yasin released, they’re both relatively okay, but obviously shook up,” he said. So far, there has been no reply to the CPJ allegations from President Farole, but Rhodes notes there have been reports that Puntland officials are looking into last month’s shooting of Radio Galkayo director Hassan Jama, even though no one has yet been apprehended for the crime. Puntland’s strategic northen location has made the Somali-linked state a prized post for journalists covering not only Somalia’s national unity struggle, but also the geopolitical encounters of the Arabian peninsula, and the operations of Somali pirates who also operate nearby.
  15. LOOOOOOL HAHAHAH According to GAAROODI Hargeysa looks like L.A. Wallahi I can't stop laughing at the comparison!!! The city has made impressive achievements their is no deny it. From security to buildings, but it is when you exaggerate and try and say the places looks like Los Angeles. Wait Wait, maybe when Gaaroodi said LA, he ment Lascaanod? loooool
  16. Originally posted by GAAROODI: WALAHI WATCH THIS ONE...IT LOOKS LIKE L.A. dame i hate the UK and its cold winters...i wish i could be back there and never come back, 6 months was not enough. LOOOOOOL Like L.A....thanks for the good laugh, I needed it.
  17. It was 2006, Habsaade was still a Puntland minister. He was fired in 2007 and that's when his militia switched sides, I wasn't in the country then.
  18. Suldaanka, Again this is your interpretation. I was in Lascaanod in 2006 and I never saw any of these people walking around with weapons like you said. I remember that the Puntland Admin at the time made numerous trips to Lascaanod, including the Garaad Jama ceremony. Like I said the video is showing the truth. The reporter says "Who do people what to be a part of? It depends who you ask". If NW Somalia has brought so much stability, why did the reporter stay for 2 hours, why did he come at night? Most of all, why are Reer Lascaanod so divided? This video as well as the video of people rioting clearly shows that your media bends the truth.
  19. Laascaanod Suldaanka, Yassin Juma report from Lascaanod has uncovered the truth about what is going on in the city. NW Somalia's media and admin can no longer try and present their version of what is going on. Yassin Juma show's that even he who is a reporter, needed to enter the city under heavy security and at night. That there is milita surrounding the whole city on stand by. He only stayed in the town for 2 hours. He show's even though Habsaades NW Somalia allied militia is in controlled, people are divided on who they wish to be a part of. This video has exposed the truth that you were trying to hide.
  20. Well said Dalmar!!!! Without thinking, our leaders joined Somalia Red Sea, stop with the garbage. You are telling me that 34 countries recognized a country that had a prime minister and 4 ministers? So you want us to believe that you were an indepedent state and Egal was the leader and he chose for the sake of Somaliweyn to step down and accept a lower position? They had their own ministers and all these countries recognizing them and without thinking they just joined Somalia??? Whatever
  21. Mr. Somalia, just ignore Paragon. I am not sure what his interest in Puntland is. Anyways, the issue about where these killers came from will be answered Insha'Allah. For the first time eye witnesses identified them and they were quickly arrested. We will learn more about who they are and what their motives were. Many are saying that these men were upset that the killings in Qardho and Bosasso a few months ago were being dealt with by dialogue and that these men wanted start it up again and blame others so a feud would begin. For some the PIS has become a scapegoat for everything. Blaming them for this crime shows that they are paranoid. For me, no matter who committed this crime it seems everyone is agreeing that it was Puntlanders that did it, no one else. This is by far the most concerning issue. President Faroole has his hands full and needs to really do something about this. A minister in Gaalkayo, Parliamentarians in Garoowe and Bosasso, a Judge in Bosasso. The Governor of Kakaar. We are seeing this happening in all major cities. It is as if their is no respect for the government.
