General Abdullahi Ahmed Jama “Ilkajiir”, a former military officer and a member of the ********** sub-clan, like Hanaano. Ilkajiir returned to Somalia from the United States late in 2008 to contest the Puntland presidency. According to multiple independent sources, Hanaano contributed over $200,000 to Ilkajiir’s political campaign. Ilkajiir ultimately lost the election to Abdirahman Mohamed “Faroole” — who benefited from much larger pirate contributions to his political war chest — and was awarded the post of Minister of the Interior.

United Nations Security Council Report After 12 years of relatively positive evolution in Puntland, the newly established administration of Abdirahman Mohamed “Faroole” is nudging Puntland in the direction of becoming a criminal State. Monitoring Group investigations, involving interviews with sources possessing first-hand knowledge of piracy operations, ransom negotiations and/or payments, have confirmed that senior Puntland officials, including President Faroole and members of his Cabinet, notably the Minister of the Interior, General Abdullahi Ahmed Jama “Ilkajiir” and the Minister for Internal Security, General Abdillahi Sa’iid Samatar, have received proceeds from piracy and/or kidnapping.

Did you see this post? He is making this into a sub-clan thing! You say we are discussing the states future? If we are going to call for certain sub-clans to be excluded from the government, that's something i'll disagree with! He doesn't want to celebrate the changing of the PIS because the replacement is from the same sub-clan! You know and I know that this a ridiculous argument! Duke: Well said... The state needs reformation and thats what Faroole is trying to do. Reformation? Is that a joke, do you realize that the NY times just leaked a UN Security Council report saying that President Faroole takes money from pirates? If this report comes out to be true, do you think that a man who has been implicated by the UN for dealing with pirate criminals can reform our state? This whole PIS reformation came a day after this report was leaked, which is the only reason why this changed happened. It has nothing to do with these articles written by reer Maakhir back in 2009! It has to do with President Faroole's fear that the PIS exposed him! Reformation must start from the top to bottom! You can't blame the PIS or anyone else if the president is being accused by the UN for criminal activity! Like Nassir made clear, you are attacking only segments of the state where a certain sub-clan controls and want to see them out of the picture....but you never bash anyone else, no matter what they are accused of!

This is precisely what I have been saying about Reer Maakhir and their weak argument. It has nothing to do with the facts and details of what this man has done. But their hatred for 1 sub-clan, you have finally exposed the truth behind your anger with the former admin under Gen Cadde Muse and all other leaders that come from that sub-clan! Why Maakhir claimed to have broke away and than came back! You are upset at this so called make believe dynasty! And now you can't celebrate because the new man who's might come into the PIS is from the same sub-clan! But, At least you are honest Nassir, unlike others from Maakhir who pretend they are upset at the PIS (or former admin) for legitimate reasons!

Sacad *Ducaale, What's even funnier is a democracy that holds no elections. It's like Riyaale who was elected in, but refuses to hold anymore elections

The Star Dream job turns into a nightmare By SHAUN HO PETALING JAYA: The lure of a high-paying job took telecommunications consultant Hor Chee Fei to Somalia, one of the world’s most dangerous places. Hor Chee Fei But three months on, he had to run for his life, empty-handed and glad just to get out. He was forced to flee the lawless land and was chased right up to the runway of the airport by his employer’s henchmen. Hor and five other Malaysians managed to avoid detection by blending in with a crowd of Chinese tourists. Hor, 49, had been asked to help set up a mobile telephone network in the self-declared Republic of Somaliland, a breakaway region in the northwest of Somalia. “It was a big contract and the money was good,” said Hor, who has experience working in several African countries. The consultant said he was engaged by the telco’s owner on a one-year contract. He added that the owner, who is very rich, arranged for the company’s CEO to take him to inspect the facilities in Hargeisa, Somaliland’s capital city, to prove that it was a legitimate business. Convinced, Hor recruited five others and they flew there in December and immediately got to work. “They have excellent machinery but the local workers were incompetent,” Hor said during an interview. He said his team managed to get things running although progress was very slow. However, when a new CEO took over in January, their pay was withheld as the company claimed they had not performed, despite working over 12 hours a day and taking up tasks that were not part of their job scope. “We sensed something was not right and knew we had to leave as we were being bullied there,” Hor said. He said they felt threatened because it was a lawless place and they were in no position to demand their dues. Besides, their employers also implied that they could make it difficult for them if they did not continue their work. The Malaysians hatched an escape plan with the help of some local contacts when everyone was busy celebrating during the network’s launch last Saturday. “We did not feel safe until the aeroplane door was locked,” said Hor, who flew to Dubai from Berbera, three hours away by road. “Men came looking for us at the airport departure lounge and even on the runway,” said Hor, who arrived home together with the other Malaysians on Tuesday morning. He is currently consulting with his lawyers to get the workers their six-figure salary, which was to be paid in US dollars. He warned small companies to be careful when dealing with powerful “businessmen” from that part of the world. Johnson Lukose, 47, from Kuala Lumpur, described the trip as an unnecessary risk, adding that he would never return there. “I am bitter about the incident and at Hor for putting us in that situation. But I’m also grateful to him for getting us out of there,” said Lukose, who was hired as a power systems consultant.

Zack, AT is wrong, and Farah Moalim is to! I agree Che, President Faroole's order's should be followed when he makes them in Garowe. People should step down peacefully, but many dont think like that back home! Sometimes people will resist! He should have anticipated changing the PIS might not go very smoothly! That's why I said he should have been in Bosasso! But like I said, I hope it is resolved peacefully.
-
Zack, you defend anyone that comes from your region, regardless of what they say! When Farah Moalim visited a breakaway region and spoke of it as if it were another part of Somalia, you had no problem with that because he is from your region (orginally). When AT spews his Puntland hatred, you support and defend him. It's one thing to have pride in your region, but stop thinking that no one from your region can ever do wrong.
-
He will say it to him face to face, explain why he is being replaced! Hold a press conference etc etc! When Faroole was fired as minister, he didnt accept it! The problem was resolved because the President at that time was in Garowe! This situation is similar!
-
It doesn't work that way in Africa! Things are far more delicate and they need to be addressed in particular ways. If President Faroole stays in Garowe, I highly doubt Osman Diyaano will step down! In Bosasso you will find Somalis from every corner living there! Including Arabs and Asians. When you leave other Puntland cities for Bosasso you feel like you are entering another country. Garowe is dominated by President Faroole's kinsmen! Bosasso belongs to no one! It's the commerical capital!
-
I don't know why President Faroole would not make this change when he was in Bosasso! He should have called Osman Diyaano to come in and told him that he's gone. President Faroole did it in Gaalkayo when he made a lot of changes to that city, he should have done the samething! The PIS headquarters in Bosasso, he should have been in Bosasso when he made these changes! Hopefully this will end peacfully, but the President needs to be in Bosasso if he wants this problem resolved quickly!
-
Osman Diyano is probably remember when Faroole was sacked as Puntland minister he sent gunmen to parliament in protest and he should do the same thing. I don't see a difference between what happened in 2006 and now!
-
Originally posted by Mintid Farayar: Some say the sacking of 'Diana' is linked to the damning UN Security Council report linking Faroole personally with the Pirate gangs. 'Diana' and PIS have extensive reporting and intelligence links with the West (and in particular with the American clandestine services) & could've potentially fingered Faroole as the godfather behind the majority of the piracy in the Horn. I bet Cowke didn't receive that intel from his 'exclusive, insider sources' You are absolutely right, that is what I am hearing to. After all that has gone on in Puntland, the change happened immediately after the leaked New York times article came out. I am hearing that people within the government are blaming the PIS for given the information to the UN Security Council! The timing of the change to the PIS and this report makes it quite clear why this happened now!

UN Security Council NYTimes Unmask TFG Puntland
Thankful replied to Mintid Farayar's topic in Politics
Seem's the WFP realizes that the crime that took place wasn't Puntland Governments fault!! Those criminals were protesting the arrest of family members that were sentenced to 15 year jail sentences after a 1 week trial! What they did was wrong and they should be punished, It's hard for Puntland to stop these kinds of acts when the NW SOmalia enclave is conducting kangaroo courts. -
Originally posted by Mintid Farayar: But GaroweOnline conveniently left out the part concerning accusations of collusion between the top Puntland leadership and the Pirates. That was convenient reporting... Garoweonline Seems they've had a change of mind! It's back in there again! Maybe they read this thread

Kamavi, I was just posting this to show people that when a NW Somali website accuses its own admin of handing over prisoners to the Ethiopians everyone remains quiet. Like AT, Zack, JB etc etc and all the others that just jump at the chance to bash Puntland, by commenting on threads that provide no sources! This thread has a source! Well why are they quiet now? There complaints and unsourced threads has nothing to do with the alleged victims but a reason to bash Puntland!

NW Somalia Globe ILLEGALLY ARRESTS AND RENDERS BISHARO WA’DI SHAQLANE TO ETHIOPIAN SECURITY FORCES 28 February 2010 | News PRESS RELEASE SOMALILAND: ILLEGALLY ARRESTS AND RENDERS BISHARO WA’DI SHAQLANE TO ETHIOPIAN SECURITY FORCES On February 10th 2010, family members and relatives of Ms. Bisharo Wa’di Shaqlane informed ****** Human Rights Committee about her arrest by members of Somaliland Police and Ethiopian Security Forces. Since then her fate and whereabouts are unknown to her family. Ms. Bisharo is a prominent feminist who was detained several times under different pretexts by the Ethiopian government. The ****** Human Rights Committee has extensively documented her ordeal from 1996 to 2007 and all details about her past detention dates can be found in OHRC’s reports. See "O"rights.org During her detention periods she has undergone physical and psychological torture and she bears physical and psychological scars of the torture. Each time after long months of incommunicado detention without charges or trial she was released on bail, and was restricted to her detention location. In 2007, she escaped from her torturers and fled to Hargeisa seeking safety for her children and herself, where she registered herself as a refugee. Contrary to the letter and spirit of all human rights instruments which provide protection against refoulement, such as; The UN Convention against Torture, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) and International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR), Somaliland administration handed over an innocent asylum seeker to the Ethiopian government, which systematically tortures detainees, including prisoners of conscience to extract confessions or information under duress. In Somaliland, for the last 14 years, many Somalis from the ****** were detained, tortured, their private properties confiscated and then forcibly handed over to the Ethiopian government against their will, in exchange for political favours. Most of them were traders, residents, asylum seeker and visitors, who were not involved in any illegal activities and have no political affiliations whatsoever. Many of those who were forcibly returned to Ethiopia have since disappeared in the notorious military detention camps throughout Ethiopia and were never seen again by their loved ones while others were tortured to death. To the best of the ****** Human Rights Committee’s knowledge, Ms. Bisharo was not involved in any illegal activity. She was only an ardent feminist who spoke out against rape of women, domestic violence and genital mutilation. The ****** Human Rights Committee calls for her to be either charged with recognizable criminal offence and be given fair trial or immediately and unconditionally released. The OHRC also fears for her safety and well-being, particularly in view of constant reports about confessions made under duress. This fear is heightened by the baseless assertions of Mr. Abdi Mohamoud Omar, the head of the Somali Regional State Security and Justice Bureau, who falsely claimed, during an interview with VOA Somali Section that Ms. Bisharo was detained while she was in the area between Dhagaxbuur and Xarshin. Mr. Omar also verbally attacked and accused her of masterminding of a mine (hand grenade) attack which took place in Jigjiga, on May 28th 2007. The ****** Human Rights Committee condemns all acts of killing, torture, arbitrary arrests, dispossession and forcible repatriation of refugees from the ****** from the neighbouring Somali administrations. The ****** Human Rights Committee requests the international community, human rights and humanitarian organisations’ immediate intervention on behalf of Ms. Bisharo’s family to secure her immediate and unconditional release. The OHRC calls upon the Ethiopian government to respect Ms. Bisharo’s basic human rights, including informing her family and relatives about her whereabouts, and granting unrestricted and regular access to them and to representatives of the International Committee of the Red Cross. ****** Human Rights Committee "O"rights.org

I don't think 20 years was long enough, these criminals need to be punished even harsher!!! I am saying that Hargeysa NW Somalia enclave should learn a lesson, the Kenya courts were hearing evidence for 2 years according to this video, the pirates were arrested in 2008. In your enclave the Piracy trial finished in a week! Even though your article said that some of the guys claimed to be innocent!!! You think realize that news will make your enclave look good, but do you know how ridiculous a 1 week trial sounds? Anyways, This is good news, all these pirates need to be arrested. I read that many pirates who are caught at sea with weapons are set free because they didnt commit a crime! That needs to change, if they are armed in the middle of the sea, it's obvious what they are doing, arrest them!
-
Hargeysa NW Somalia take note!!! In this trial it took the court 2 YEARS to convict them men! Your enclave did it in 1 week!

You realize Faroole graduated from university in the U.S? He has more education than Riyaale!!! NW Somalia's are in no position to talk about peoples backgrounds. We know how Riyaale made his name!! -

Originally posted by Mintid Farayar: But GaroweOnline conveniently left out the part concerning accusations of collusion between the top Puntland leadership and the Pirates. That was convenient reporting... Mintid Farayar You know last night I saw that part on Garoweonline(it was there), I was so shocked that GO had matured and began reporting the news. But now it seems that they have taken that part out, like we are ****** who haven't seen the original source!! Like I said, we will see what they do when the Security Council comes out with the report! Maybe they are fighting it right now to have that part ommitted, but we shall see!
-
Mintid Farayar, I am not wasting any time, all this news is coming from websites from your enclave. From people like Abdulaziz Al-Mutari(or however you spell it)....this is not news that is being made up from Puntland or other parts of Somalia! Now that some foreign websites are picking up the rumours, I've started commenting on it! The security council report is definitely serious! Garoweonline posted it on their site, which is interesting! We will see how the Puntland admin responds.
-
I agree that there are no reliable sources. But from what I've been reading from your enclaves websites, it's fair to think that maybe there are some in your government that are in favor of any recognition. We will wait and see if more news comes out!
