  1. Cowke, what has the Puntland Government said about what is happening in Sool? It is as if they are sweeping it under the rug! Atleast a statement (at the very least), is needed.
  2. JB when is riyaale going to campaign in Lascaanood?
  3. Che, what occurred in Xamar and Buhoodle are two different things. The forces in Xamar aligned themselves with Eritrea and invited foreigners to their cause, they threaten to expand to peaceful lands! Where as Buhoodle, has threatened no one and were not the aggressors. It's quite sad what is happening in Buhoodle, and even more sad is the fact that no one, especially Lascaanod and other area's are not coming to their aid.

  5. Ok, why didn't NW Somalia do it on their own in Buhoodle?
  6. Ok, I understand, but why did NW Somalia need help?
  7. First how do you know where the troops came from, they dont even know for certain how many have died! Second, they take orders from the Ethiopian government, now the question is, what is going on in Buhoodle that would require Ethiopian help!

I am surprised that NW Somalia would need ethiopian troops! It's interesting. p.s Plus we all leave on somaliland
  9. Oh, so you admit it isn't under your control!
  10. Sacad *Ducaale , why did Ethiopians enter Buhoodle?
  11. NW Somalia seems to have done this when all attention was drawn to Buhoodle! After 3 years of having Laascanood none of this ever happened, until the Ethiopians crossed the border!

Fair and Transparent public trial? Just like the this one? Mogadishu The only people that are punished are those that don't belong to the dominant clan! This man was Bantu which is why he was subjected to this!
  13. Beer-Gaal, Lets be reasonable here! Are you going to seriously sit here and tell me that Laasqoray tuna factory employees more then Golis? I went inside the main office, let's look at their website!(which needs employees to operate it, as well as it's golis news paper) Golis 1.Improving individual livelihood: The bulk of the inhabitants of these regions have endured hardships brought about by the wars that blazed the country or the backwardness engulfing every sphere of life. Thus many of them have become desperate from leading a decent life. People were in a dark tunnel, but at the end of the tunnel the light from Golis Telecom efforts glowed, restoring much hope. 1. Job opportunities:- offering direct and indirect job opportunities to the communities has generated income for over six thousand individuals. Many of those affected by such initiatives are Golis telecom employees who developed boldness to raise big families. Others include people who carve out satisfactory livelihoods from the services we provide. People from different walks of life including telephone booth operators, airtime agents and many others earn their livelihood from opportunities rendered to the public by the company. Even logic will tell you that a company which has centers in: "The company has its headquarter in bosaso the port city and the commercial capital of puntland , Golis Telecom has also centers at the main cities of puntland such as qardho, Garowe, Hadaaftimo, Burtinle, Galkacyo , Dhahar, Carmo, Baran, Goldogob and Erigavo - Somaliland. Hingalol and Bo'ame." Golis Is going to be bigger than Laasqoray tuna factory that is based in one (or maybe a couple of towns.) I think the Laasqoray's Tuna Factory is an amazing accomplishment, if only more people took this initiative! Our country wouldn't be in the state that it is in. It's absurd to say what Xudeedi did, that it is Somalia's largest industry.
  14. This probably has to do with the piracy conference that President Faroole will be attending in Turkey within the coming days. I am sure he understands that he could be criticized for not doing anything, as well if he's hoping to get some sort of funding, he needed to make some kind of move like this! Well, I guess better late than never! We will see what the courts do with the self proclaimed pirate leader Booyah.
  15. Originally posted by Beer-Gaal: If not LTF, which industry directly employs over 600 pple ? Khat may be as you said ! but i'm sure not telecommunication,,,, Somalia's largest industry is Baaga muudo though  Without a doubt Dahabshiil and other money transfering businesses, Golis Communication is huge in Puntland, I wish I had taken picture of their main office, definitely over 600 workers.
  16. That's an over statement "Somalia's largest industry", are you saying the Tuna Factory is? It's not even Puntlands largest industry let alone Somalia. It comes no where near livestock, telecommunication or even khat! Maybe I am misunderstanding it, what is Somalia's largest industry?
  17. Originally posted by Xaji_Xunjuf: Its not banned Just the holy day will not be celebrated like all the other years At beerta xoriyada because of the election preparations, which is understandable What do you mean Holy Day??? It's religious now???

  19. Oodweyne, I agree that the TFG has been ineffective, but the reason NW Somalia has been more stable has to do more with the fact that one dominant group controls the place, where as with the TFG it is a mixture of many (but thats a whole different argument.) Basically what you are saying in a sense is that the TFG is being rewarded for it's lawlessness because of the fear other countries have that it will fall in the hands of a violent group. And on the other hand NW Somalia is being punished in for it's stability because there is no such threat of them being taken over! That might be true, but what I am saying is that Riyaale staying in Office long after his term expired has shown that your government is not as effective as you want people to believe. The fact that TFG's leaders come and go is one positive note they have. Do you agree that Riyaale extended stay given your enclave a black eye? My only point in all this is that don't think that these changes in leadership is completely negative, in a sense it does help Somalia. I personally don't think the international community cares much about that fear of "Jihadist transnational incorporated", if you even look at the whole piracy problems there is little talk about actually change the situation on land. I give credit where it is due, and Abdullahi Yusuf definitely brought Somalia back into the international community like no leader since the civil war. He had long standing ties with certain African and Arab countries that he was able to use to his advantage and open doors to other nations. Sheik Sharif had some momentum with the whole former rebel leader turned president. He is becoming a disappointment, however he can be easily changed! NW Somalia has shown that it has difficutly in this department. Anyways that all I have to say.
  20. Well Oodweyne, I base my opinion on the world leaders that Somalia's Presidents meet. Permanent Security Council members such as, Obama, Sarkozy, Brown, offical state visits to China. (I dont need to bring out pics) What other reason would they be given full protocol? I base this on the ability that the TFG has on bringing in a new fresh person to the head. Sure one man one vote would be most essential, but it back fired in the your enclave where the same man has remained in power. There was a great wave of hope when he was first elected into office, but look at this current campaign, it's quiet. The appeal that the TFG has on the internationally community is it's ability to have it's leaders step down quietly when it's their time to go. Something NW Somalia has never been able to do.
  21. But like I said they will leave when their term expires, Riyaale was elected in but someone is able to get his term extended over and over again. He has achieve not a single thing for recognition yet is still in power, not one country still. But you want to point out Omar or Sharif's policies. Come, Riyaale is in the same boat and even worse since he is staying in years after he should have gone.
  22. Well, he definitely had high expectations..... probably too high. He's a good man though. Somalia's ability to go through leaders definitely gives them one benefit in that it helps them on the international stage, unlike NW Somalia that has had the same guy years after his initial term expired and the only way leaders change is through death, add the fact that both opposition leaders belong to the same dominant family, the TFG on the other hand is able to bring new people in from all over the region.
  23. None of JB articles have a source, when will he start following the rules!
  24. Somalia: Abdullahi Yusuf accused of 'political interference in Puntland' 16 May 16, 2010 - 11:34:36 AM Former Somali Transitional Federal Government (TFG) President Abdullahi Yusuf Ahmed, who is currently living in Yemen, is actively involving himself in the internal politics of Somalia's State of Puntland, Garowe Online reports. According to reliable sources in the Yemeni capital, Sana'a, ex-President Yusuf is engaged in an active campaign to "incite the Puntland public" against the current administration, under President Abdirahman Mohammed "Farole." Sources close to the former TFG leader say that Mr. Yusuf has been "regular contact" with Puntland politicians and security officials. The sources say Mr. Yusuf has claimed that he wants to "save Puntland" but it was not immediately clear from what. Mr. Abdullahi Yusuf, former president of Somalia Mr. Yusuf, who is also Puntland's first elected president in 1998, was forced to resign under international pressure in December 2008 after being accused by the international community and regional governments of being an "obstacle to peace." He had rejected the US-backed Djibouti Peace Process, which sought to expand the TFG by including Islamist opposition figures, including Sheikh Sharif Ahmed, the current TFG president. Since his resignation, Mr. Yusuf has lived in Yemen after receiving political asylum under a United Nations arrangement that prohibits Mr. Yusuf from involvement in Somali politics, including Puntland. Some analysts have suggested that reports of Mr. Yusuf's political interference in Puntland constitutes a "violation of the asylum agreement" endorsed by the U.N., the U.S., and regional bloc Inter-Governmental Authority on Development (IGAD). It is not clear why the ailing former Somali leader is now campaigning to incite instability in Puntland, his native region in northern Somalia. The democratically elected government of Puntland under President Farole is the first administration since 1998 to regularly pay government salaries, contributing to an improvement in public safety. Puntland government officials have not commented publicly to reports of Mr. Yusuf's political interference. GAROWE ONLINE
  25. I agree in Africa this can be common! Having elections postponed for so long is not. I find it interesting that there seem to be no problems between the Hargeisa, Burao, Berbera triangle! We will keep watching Sool and Sanaag as this seems to be a developing story!
