Again I believe Somalia will be eternally grateful to Turkish PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The notoriety he has brought to South Somalia’s devastating famine has been immense. So much so, that we are seeing other parts of Somalia and East Africa now wanting to donate to this catastrophe even though they knew of this for some time. Of course all aid is welcome and credit must be given to Turkish PM Erdogan for his visit to Mogadishu and UN Speech.

Secessionists seem to be taking full advantage of the photo oppurtunity. I am certain Siilaanyo felt that if he secretly enters the town, gets a picture taken and then quickly exits, he will be able to use this for PR. Which I have to admit he has every right to do! But I wonder, if Siilaanyo visits shows that his enclave is safe then I wonder what the trip President Faroole, the Turkish PM and others who visited Mogadishu recently says about that city? Because they all annouced their visit before hand and stayed longer. The one question every single NW Somali will ignore is where are Laascaanood's inhabitants when Siilaanyo visited? No doubt Secessionists will ignore this question. But I guarantee you that the international community can clearly see it.

I think this visit was a good thing for Somalia's unity. Especially for the international community to see. The secessionists hurt themselves again because the pictures show that Siilaanyo had more security and militia dressed in military uniforms than citizens of Laascaanood coming out and supporting. The Puntland government was smart to protest the surprise and quick visit, as it will bring more attention to how little support the Hargeysa admin has. Can you imagine if the streets were full with supporters? That would have clearly shown that the citizens agreed with secessionism. In simplest terms: where is everyone?

Even the strongest secessionists supporter knows that the group of people that are in the pictures are extremely small. How can a major Somali city like this have such few people coming out to support their so-called leader? I always given credit where it is due. He hid this visit very well, no one knew about this. It seems not to long ago Raxanreeb was absolutely in love with President Faroole. So much so, that they named him 2010 man of the year. The above picture of Faroole was on Raxanreeb's home page since he was named man of the year almost a year ago and was only taken down after the fighting in Gaalkaayo took place. So Raxaanreeb supported President Faroole no matter what the circumstances a few months ago, however, now they feel their interests have been targeted and they've made a complete 180 degree turn which involves making up fake stories like this. Surprising how things can change so quickly.
