Hadn't Atam and his clan militia faught to reverse the mineral and oil rights given to Range Resources, Ltd. Farole would have probably lived in Australia this time. The leader of the same uprising Farole used as a tool to attack Ade Muse's Government is now his #1 public enemy. Why now Why now, are you serious. Does Mr. Atam have armed men in the mountains? Why is he living in the mountains? What if every one just had their own private army around Bosasso, do you think that would keep the peace. The man chooses to hide. Any government in the world could not afford to have someone like that so close to their commercial capital. You know and I know that he has armed fighters. Second, don't start saying Faroole has been implicated, because you completely disregarded the UN report and called it false and used the clan card. If you want I can get your posts that show how you defended Ilka-Jiir and Faroole from that attack, but now you have done a 180 degree turn. No matter what, Mr. Atam can not be station near Bosasso! You are write on your other posts, when you say we will see.

Isn't it interesting, how he is now defending his side tooth and nail. No matter what happens he will never say a word, that is why even though Ilka-Jiir is on the Puntland government side, he refuses to say anything negative about him, because he comes from his area. It's ridiculous, why is Atam living in the mountains with fighters? When someone is wrong Xudeedi you must admit it, even if he comes from your side. So who are you with Atam or Ilka-Jiir?
-
Xudeedi, if there was clan hatred I would not have said Faroole needs to be investigated. Remember Faroole is not from Maakhir! I am not sure why you are making this a clan thing, the fact that Ilka-Jiir is fighting with the government against Atam, is proof that it is a government issue. As terrible as piracy is and what my opinion on them is, it does not cause the deaths of so many of our people like. Mr. Atam wants to do. But like I said, explain to me how this is a clan thing if Ilka-jiir is leading the assault on the criminals? Why avoid that question?
-
The Paragon, explain to me why Ilko-Jiir is fighting on the Puntland side, we know he is the most repsected politician you have. He was your choice for president. Mr. Atom has no right to sign peace deals, he has no right to have armed men so close to Bosasso, like Mr. Somalia said, those elders need to choose either Puntland or Mr. Atam, they will not sit in the middle and give this guy credibility. I do not believe Puntland would attack people who are hiding in the Mountains, that would be a very difficult terrain for even an advanced military. Puntland has no planes or helicopters so taking on people hiding in mountains like goats would not be feasible. Mr. Atam came down and was quickly sent running back to the mountains. Anyways, the elders need to make a choice! Ilko-Jiir has already!
-
Lol!! You would think a NW Somali would not want this to happen, and would be siding with Puntland government, as any problems facing Puntland will eventually spill over, such as a possiblity of an influx of people fleeing the fighting. Plus the fact the SSC attack at will in Sool. It's quite sad! War will only cause all the surrounding enclaves to suffer.
-
Xudeedi, You realize Ilka-Jiir the representive of your area who ran for president as a Maakhir Candidate, is on the side of the Puntland government, and is fighting against these thugs? Obviously it is not an "SSDF" clan issue, if he is leading our forces.

It looks like Somali Public Radio's true motives have been revealed, instead of reporting neutral news about Somali events, they are writing bias articles with an agenda of promoting only a small region. When every news outlet reports the same thing, except for SPR who are saying something completely different. You know they must not be very reliable. From President Faroole's speech and news coming out I believe the governments moral is very high, and the forces must have performed well. Regardless of what SPR says, Mr. Atam captured no territory and he has not said a word. Bush??? These guys are in the mountains, which are even harder to attack and easy for them to defend then the bush. They attack little villages outside Bosasso, and were quickly defeated and captured. They dont have control of a single place, unlike you and Buuhoodle. The people we are fighting only have the mountains. I hope it is resolved peacefully as I don't want any bloodshed. I hope every avenue is used to avoid any conflict. But just because they attacked out forces, doesn't mean we will immediately start negotiating.
-
We don't negotiate with people just because they attack us, like you after the SSC attacked you. When an armed group chooses to launch an attack, they sadly don't want to negotiate.
-
Libaahe, let's be real, if you want to insult what Faroole is doing now, then you are entitled to your own opinion and if you want to make fun of him for being a former taxi drive fine. But can you really comment on his former profession, when Riyaale worked for the NSS? You want to bash Puntland as a pirate state, you can! Or if you want to point out other problems facing it, that's fine to. But you can not talk about things when your side has an even worse reputation. The NSS was no joke and Riyaale worked for it.
-
No one has been proven guilty of war crimes, not a single person! But one thing is for certain Faroole worked for a cab company. Riyaale worked for the NSS a service that committed many war crimes. Whether he did it or not, he stayed on their pay roll!
-
Really, working for a murderous security service that has been sited for human rights abuses because they have been implicated for torture and murder is better than a taxi driver? That's my only issue with the NW Somalis, is the hypocracy! You will make fun of Faroole's profession which harms no one, but not Riyaale who stayed employed with a the NSS when everyone knew what they were doing! You have no business talking about Faroole's employment when the country fell apart! With Riyaale's bloody pass. You brought Faroole into this discussion, but we can get back to Ilko-Jiir, I was unaware that he was in Somalia back in the early 90s to resolve the issue facing the area. I've said this before, I think he made a mistake joining the current government of Puntland, he would have been better as an opposition and say how he can make things better. But now he is part of the government, so if people want change they will look for people outside of the government. Right now Nuradine, Abdullahi Saeed Samatar, Gaagaab and others are all planning their campaigns and will probably starting it up next year. We shall see though!
-
Lol, so what do you think of Riyaale working for the NSS? Is that more honorable then a taxi driver?
-
Lol, I think this is a point where you know that this article states something that you dont agree with. It's like a double edge sword it calls Somalia a failed state (which you like), but then it regards your democracy as flawed (which you do not like). I have absolutely no concern with what the economists says about your democracy in the triangle or other parts of Africa. I am only curious as to why Xaaji, JB, Libaahe, Suldaanka, were so pleased with the article, when it actually labels your democracy in a negative light! So lets make it clear that I was only interested in why there were people from NW Somalia expressing happiness with the article. However if they agree that it is flawed, then I understand their pleasure and that maybe they are happy with the progress. But if they don't agree it is flawed, then why would they comment so highly about it???
-
Xaaji, what the economists says means little to me. I understand the underlining reason why African states are under so much trouble. It has to do with what has happened over the last few hundred years. From slavery, colonialism, the cold war and so on. You are the one that posted this report, and others were saying good things, like JB who said we are here to impress, or Libaahe and even you. All I pointed out was that this article says your democracy is flawed! I dont see what you are so please with and how this article is positive to you! Unless you agree it is flawed!
-
Suldaanka, thanks for your opinion! That makes sense.
-
Well I answer your questions and you avoid mine. I believe that Somalia is trying to make a government that includes ever segement of Society, where everyone can run for president. As opposed to your enclave that makes election that put only one side with an unfair advantage. There is no sharing at all! Many groups are completely shut out. So for the final time, why do you think they are calling you flawed, what might they see that makes them come to the conclusion that you are flawed?

Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: What you can see there is the names of the countries adeer ,, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somalia, Somaliland and so on .... What you can see is also the border between Somaliland and Somalia ... What you can see is also Somalia defined as a "Failed State" against Somaliland's Democracy ,, Ok lol, I guess you see things different! Because I see all the names of real countries in black capital letters, and only 1 enclave in red lower case which is yours...no one else is written like that! I do not see a border between the two and finally, I agree Somalia is classified as a failed state, but NW Somalia is classified as a flawed democracy! Meaning there is something wrong with it! So I ask you again or Oodweyne, why do you think they consider you as a flawed democracy???
-
I mean no offense by this but are you color blind, or is it your imagination?? Because there is no border between the two of us, it looks like there may be a dashed line, but not a border like the other countries have seperating them. All the countries have a clear line between them. There is none between us!!But you must see something different. Also, all the REAL countries names are in black capital letters (including Somalia), while your enclave is in another color with lower case letters! Obviously they dont see you as the same as the rest! Anyways, I am curious as to why they feel your democracy is flawed? Do you have any assumptions on why they may feel that way? Originally posted by Jacaylbaro: Don't u see the border between Somaliland & Somalia ??

Flawed isn't the worst label and I wont go through each country you listed and why they are flawed, but I suggest you look at their leaders who re accused of massive corruption, among many other things! Anyways, I am simply addressing the comments that included things like "Excellent", "We are here to impress the world" and others by JB and co.....As usual I must clarify my point, (although I am certain you know what it is), that this article isn't very positive, it actually states an opinion that your elections were flawed. So the people bragging about it with these comments may want to reconsider! I would love to know why the Economist says the elections were flawed in their opinion!
-
Originally posted by Oodweyne: As for democracy goes, even if it's a "flaw version" of the kind that this article is alleging on the part of Somaliland, one could say that well it's all to the good that some countries are learning more quicker than the others how to do it, indeed. Hence, in time we may be a passed masters of this thing. Regards, Oodweyne. What it seems that NW Somalia has learned is to make sure that both opposition parties are lead by one segment of society. Any other country would have never allowed such elections to take place where one group had a monopoly over all the power and shut out so many others. There would have been outrage, this is exactly why election turnout in area's that had no one running were little to none, as of a lack of any tangible evidence of pics outside of the triangle. Again, many parts of Somalia are a fail state, I am certain that if regions just broke up and were led by one tribe who had all the power like NW Somalia, they would be more successful.
-
Suldaanka, JB, Libaahe and Xaaji, do you realize that this pic rates NW Somalia's election has FLAWED DEMOCRACY ????? The Dark Green like South Africa, Botswana, Namibia and Ghana are FULL democracy's! But the light green which you guys are part of is counties and enclaves with flawed democracies???? Hmmm, I wonder why you are considered flawed by the economists? Maybe because of what I have mentioned countless times, how there were only two opposition leaders who came from one family! No one from Sool or Sanaag could run. But maybe if not this reason, then what can possibly make them list you as a flawed democracy, you tell me?? So JB you are hear to impress the world with your flawed democracy???
-
I am not even half his age and I hope when I do reach it (Insha'Allah), I will not be known as a person that was part of a one family led rebel group and later the leader of a tribal enclave. Which set up elections so one dominant group had the best chance of winning and denied everyone else who wasn't from the family the ability to challenge for the top office. You avoided the question! So when will Riyaale and him meet? It's been a few weeks now? Isn't there suppose to be a signing ceremony of some sort?

Originally posted by Xudeedi: Sanaag welcomes Somali's of all corners and the administration in Garoowe does not have that power in the said regions. This is why they will have difficulty when someone from Sanaag eventually becomes president of Puntland. If they refuse to respect the administration in Garowe now or when they broke away from Puntland 2 years ago, no one will respect them when they become president. Everyone will say that Ilko-Jiir or whoever it may be has no power! They will be only have power in Sanaag and western Bari! It's quite simple, if they refuse to follow the government direction now under President Faroole, then when they are in charge no one will follow their direction.
