  1. Here we go Nassir likes to throw around info and bash other people to make his man look good! The former Prime Minister Omar Abdirashid has a Masters Degree. The reason why he may have been unknown as you allege is maybe because he worked for the UN in some of Africa's most dangerous zones, including Dafur were he was shot in the leg and almost lost his life in 2006. He was so highly respected with the UN and many governments for his tireless work in helping the poor that they highly recommended that President Sharif choose him. The main reason Omar Abdirashid was chosen was his educational and most importantly his work experience! With that being said Korshel I believe would make a good Prime Minister and I hope he wins.
  2. Xudeedi your goal since day one is to make this into a Qabiil issue, I personally know it has nothing to do with Qabiil. It's an easy way to divert the issue away from Atam who you refuse to show an image of. If Cadde's government was cased away by Atam, then Faroole is a better leader since he was able to do what Cadde failed to and it only took him a day! Even Atam says that it is true he lost Galgala<-- Here is the interview where he says it! Atam VOA So again, if Cadde was chased away in 2007, then history will remember that Atam was chased away in 2010 - and this interview is proof. Like I have said before Faroole was able to dispatch a presidential runner-up who hails from Eastern Sanaag and is now Puntland Minister of Interior to fight against Atam, which completely took away Atam's goal of making this into a clan issue.....ABSOLUTELY BRILLENT and one of the biggest political and military victories in Puntland’s short history.
  3. If you dont want to argue thats cool! Of course Atam can't be everywhere, Bosasso, Galgala.....it's obvious I mean his network of criminals. Of course he is not he one doings all the road side bombs and targeted killings. Anyways, this is not about Qabiil, if it is then we can expect revenge attacks like we did in Ufeyn right? If not then it was not qabiil? Atam is trying to cause instability, he is a criminal that refuses to show himself in public and has admitted to wanting to see Puntland, Ethiopia and the U.S defeated! I wish we were less inclined to always make things into a clan thing!
  4. Originally posted by Libaahe*: Indeed Faroole has always been a anti SSC since he came into power & his so determined in stopping their advances. It looks to me that the fact they are only attacking your militia is that they see you as determined to stop their advances! They have left Puntland alone!
  5. Attacking poor rural animal herders thats brave! Puntland needs to take the fight to Dhahar now, after making Atam flee from Galgala. That's what I said! We made Atam flee from Galgala now the violence is reaching Dhahar and we need to take the fight there and make him flee again! This all has everything to do with Atam, regardless of what your "sources" want you to believe! He made it clear he will cause hit and run tactics! We made Atam flee from Galagala now we need to make him flee from Dhahar.
  6. Gallad, this has nothing to do with tribe, that's just an easy scapegoat, Atam has absolutely no support from the local community, you can see proof of this when they are celebrating victories in tournaments which are hosted by Puntland government officials in their region. Also, I specifically said Puntland, and as you know the General who lead the military offensive in Galgala is from Eastern Sanaag. So explain to me how this can be about tribe? If Atam wants to attack people in Dhahar (which we know he is the prime suspect) then the military must go there and confront him. Bosasso and Galgala have been cleared of terrorist Atam and his criminals and now we need to do it in other places he might hide.
  7. I never understand your need to insult people over the internet Xudeedi. It's strange to say the least. If the sub sub sub sub sub sub clan was actually involved in this we both know Puntlands vice President and interior minister would not have toured Atoms base a day after the battle. Look, you will always ignore this question and will change the topic immediately, the question is.....please provide us with an image of Atom and if you can not tell us why?
  8. 9. I agree, it seems the U.S is aware of Atam's goals. Which is the reason why they froze his assets. As well I am sure the U.S has translated his interviews and heard him specifically mention the U.S and Ethiopia as enemies.
  10. Nassir you use to support the state during the height of piracy.
  11. The last few days our powerful police forces conducted search operations in different parts of Somaliland cities and towns and managed to seize more than ten explosive things , including remote control explosives and unexploded suicide vests,” Somaliland interior minister Gabose said. LOOOOOL, That was a good laugh! So explosive "things"???? If the police forces are so powerful then what does that make the ONLF?? I think all these pics and media reports of captured weapons is to try and gain some credibility after the humiliation by the ONLF.

The Galgala issue has been concluded and it took a day, do you need to see the pics for Puntland government officals touring the area? Hopefully someone from Eastern Sanaag like Ilka-Jiir will win the presidency in the next Puntland elections so you will once again support our beautiful state!

If you were already confident in your rich history why is there a need to be so defensive?
  16. Originally posted by Qandali: Xudeedi, this is not a clan war nor there is/was any historical conflict between these clans. Why do you keep repeating this point, call for clan bigotory and insist inter-clan war. Clanish conflict and bloody inter-clan war between these brotherly communities is not an easy thing, do no wish for it. Because he is not there that is why! He is completey safe from any harm that he keeps saying is about to come. That has always been an issue of mine and why I say radical diaspora. Its because they can so easily speak of war while they sit in safety. I am starting to think that all this is just a ploy and a means of making people upset with the current Puntland admin so hopefully a person from Eastern Sanaag can become president. Yes, I truly believe that this whole "I am against Puntland" thing was planned in advance, because there is no way someone can change course so quickly, supporting a state one month and then bashing it another and pretending like you were always against it....yup this must be a calculated election strategy. Time will tell though if my beliefs are correct and they start supporting Puntland.

In this case I thought it was common knowledge that the U.S specifically said the "Governments of Puntland and NW Somalia," that is why I didn't think I had to. Both governments are both located in the North of Somalia, hence northern governments. Please don't tell me to start using the terms you want to hear like regional admin, I am just quoting what the U.S uses. america.gov 27 September 2010 United States to Strengthen Engagement with Puntland, Somaliland Washington — The United States will strengthen engagement with the governments of Puntland and Somaliland in Somalia as part of a two-track policy aimed at curbing the growth of terrorist extremism, but also to support the Transitional Federal Government, says Assistant Secretary of State Johnnie Carson. At a briefing September 24 in New York, Carson said the two-track policy supports the Djibouti peace process, the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) and the government of Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, president of Somalia. Carson, who is the assistant secretary for African affairs, told reporters at the special briefing that the first track is designed to help the TFG become more effective and more inclusive and to give it the ability to provide services to its people. In addition, the United States will continue to work to strengthen the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). Engagement with Puntland and Somaliland is part of the second track, he added. “We hope to be able to have more American diplomats and aid workers going into those countries on an ad hoc basis to meet with government officials to see how we can help them improve their capacity to provide services to their people, seeing whether there are development assistance projects that we can work with them on,” Carson said. “We think that both of these parts of Somalia have been zones of relative political and civil stability, and we think they will, in fact, be a bulwark against extremism and radicalism that might emerge from the South.” The United States, as part of the second track, will reach out to groups in south-central Somalia, local governments clans and subclans that are opposed to al-Shabaab, the radical extremist group in the South. These are groups, Carson said, that are not allied formally or directly with the TFG. “We will look for opportunities to work with these groups to see if we can identify them, find ways of supporting their development initiatives and activities,” Carson added. But Carson said the United States will follow the African Union position and recognize only a single Somali state. A major meeting on Somalia was held by U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the opening of the U.N. General Assembly that brought together heads of state from five different African nations, several African foreign ministers and European foreign ministers, Carson said. Deputy Secretary of State James Steinberg represented the United States as this meeting and set out the two-track policy, Carson said. The problems in Somalia, he added, are viewed as a national problem for the people of Somalia, a regional problem for Africa and a global problem. “It is a problem that has metastasized over the last two decades, which has led to a situation where we now have international piracy, foreign fighters going into Somalia, and some groups in Somalia supporting remnants of the al-Qaida East Africa cell,” he said. The situation in Somalia poses a regional problem because of the large number of refugees flowing into neighboring Kenya, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Yemen and Djibouti, he said. In addition to a large flow of refugees, large amounts of illegal arms are flowing into Somalia and illegal commerce is going on, he added. “Somalia is a collapsed state with a weak government unable to project either power or stability or to provide services to its people,” Carson said. Carson said that greater engagement means meeting periodically with government officials from Puntland and Somaliland, discussing a range of development issues that include health, education, agriculture and water projects. The aim is to strengthen their ability to govern and to deliver vital public services, he added. All U.S. operations for Somalia are run out of Nairobi, Kenya, he said. The Djibouti peace process is an African-led initiative that has the support of IGAD, the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, according to Carson in a March press briefing on the peace process. It has the support of the African Union and the key states in the region, and has also been supported by the United Nations, the European Community, the Arab League and the Organization of the Islamic Conference, he added. The Djibouti peace process recognizes the importance of trying to put together an inclusive Somali government and takes into account the importance of history, culture and clan and subclan relations. 18. Interesting, it seems with the news that the U.S will be working more with the Northern governments our enemies and part-time Puntland flip floppers are working overtime, scared to death at what will happen. This is a good time for Puntland I hope the president handles it well. Many people will benefit from the much needed aid.

  22. What I saw on Garoweonline was: Puntland's govt blasts VOA report as 'appeasing Al Shabaab' in Somalia 30 Sep 30, 2010 - 9:43:27 AM The government of Somalia's stable northern Puntland region has blasted a Voice of America report which it says is as expecting the U.S. government to "appease Al Shabaab" in Somalia, Radio Garowe reports. Flag of Puntland A press release issued from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in the Puntland capital Garowe said the VOA report entitled, "Clan Rivalry Complicates Terrorism Fight in Puntland," attempts to create the impression that "long simmering rivalry" exists between the ********* and ********** sub-clans of the ***** clan-family in Puntland. PRESS RELEASE: VOA Article Portrays Wrong Picture, Appeases Terrorist in Puntland "The two clans enjoy fraternal relations of the first kind and the government of Puntland's counterterrorism efforts against the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabab in the mountainous regions of Sanag and western Bari regions is just that a counterterrorism campaign," read the press statement from Puntland's government. The statement said the VOA report's attempt to portray Puntland as a clan government is "malicious and inflammatory," while describing the report's motives as a "...cheap ploy to frustrate the implementation of the recently announced United States government's 'two-track' Somalia engagement policy." VOA Report: Clan Rivalry Complicates Terrorism Fight in Puntland Puntland's government promised to continue its "mutually beneficial cooperation" with the U.S., but strongly rejected the VOA report's claim that increased U.S. engagement with Puntland will "mobilize a clan to join Al Shabaab." T he press statement said this claim is a "false prediction" that will not stop "Puntland in its effort to deny Al-Qaeda and her affiliates to establish a safe heaven in its territory." "The article seems to be advocating for the United States to appease the Al Shabaab," concluded the press statement from the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation in Garowe. U.S. policy and Puntland U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for African affairs, Ambassador Johnnie Carson, announced last week a two-track policy that will pursue closer U.S. relations with Somalia's two stable regions, Puntland and Somaliland. The new U.S. policy recognizes the Transitional Federal Government (TFG) in Mogadishu as Somalia's national authority, but promises "aggressive" engagement with Puntland and Somaliland in key areas of security, governance and social services. Puntland's government has repeatedly called for U.S. robust engagement with stable regions in northern Somalia, as much of Mogadishu and south-central Somalia remains under the control of Al Shabaab insurgents. The new U.S. policy for Somalia was welcomed in Puntland as a "strategic reward of the commitment to peace and institutional governance." READ: Puntland govt welcomes U.S. policy change on Somalia: Report But some analysts have criticized U.S.-Puntland relations with regard to the Puntland government's intelligence and counterterrorism branch, the Puntland Intelligence Agency (PIA), which has enjoyed the backing of Western intelligence communities since 2001. Puntland war against Al Shabaab Mohamed Said Atom, a native of Puntland who is allegedly Al Shabaab's chief in the region, has always justified attacks against Puntland's government by claiming that the PIA is a "foreign organization." Experts say it is part of Al Shabaab's strategy to use "clan grievances" to advance their own political agenda. In Puntland, however, Al Shabaab failed to benefit from Atom's use of the "clan grievance" method due to the egalitarian nature of Puntland society. Since July, Puntland government forces including PIA units have engaged in a military offensive to flush out Mr. Atom and his Al Shabaab allies hiding out in the Golis mountain range that straddles Puntland and Somaliland. Puntland forces have seized all facilities and training camps used by the insurgents, but Atom and others have fled deeper into the mountains as military operations continue. In recent weeks, Somaliland's government has appealed for security cooperation with Puntland. Somaliland Interior Minister Mohamed Abdi Gabose even told reporters that he is "worried" about the movements of Al Shabaab militants led by Atom. READ: Somaliland appeals for 'cooperation with Puntland' a second time Puntland, located in northeastern Somalia, has been relatively stable since declaring autonomy in 1998. The region considers itself part of a future federal Somalia and maintains its own government, security forces and holds elections as mandated by the constitution. GAROWE ONLINE Garoweonline So where is Atam's picture?

First this is not a counterterrorism effort, this was a war waged for financial purposes. second, the man stated that he is not affiliated with Al-shabaab. Third, the war is neither in Sanaag or Eastern Bari, its in Western Bari. This is an insult to our intelligence. On Garoweonline this is what it says: Garoweonline "The two clans enjoy fraternal relations of the first kind and the government of Puntland's counterterrorism efforts against the Al-Qaeda affiliated Al-Shabab in the mountainous regions of Sanag and western Bari regions is just that a counterterrorism campaign," read the press statement from Puntland's government. Also if this is not a counterterrorism effort and Atam is not affiliated with Al Shabaab (even though his assests have been frozen by the US and he called Al Shabaab his brother).... can you please please please, provide us with just a single image of the man. You refuse to answer that question....where is a picture of the man?
  24. Xudeedi, you know and I know the VOA article should have gotten the Puntland government's position, of course it has every right to say the things it did even if we didn't agree with it. Yet, the fact the article was focused a lot of the Puntland government, you would expect they would include it in their piece. The fact that they didn't, means it was not balanced! What are they hiding? What will the government say that they didn't want to get out?
