There is a paved road that stretches all the way to Mogadishu, it was built to bring livestock that was to be exported out of Bosasso's port.

GAROWE ONLINE EDITORIAL | Those same jokers say Garowe Online opinion represents Puntland government opinion. What did they say? U.N. Security Council arms embargo? The joke of the century! Any logical mind will refuse such a grand lie. U.N. power is limited to coffee shops inside New York City where the world's rich and powerful rub shoulders. Those same jokers say Garowe Online opinion represents Puntland government opinion. So what you're effectively saying is, despite the years of hard work, investment, dedication and love of country, Garowe Online belongs to Puntland government? Sorry, Somali arms embargo by U.N. is a joke – Puntland government sympathy for Garowe Online is a bigger joke. Garowe Online is equal to every independent news agency in Somalia. Puntland will not beg anyone for its security. Puntland will not ask anyone for permission for its own security, not Transitional Federal Government (TFG) of Somalia or U.S. State Department, or the U.N. This is the power of Puntland – granted, by He who has Absolute Power, Allahu Akbar. Associated Press says Puntland wants to search for oil in Galgala hills. Sure, Puntland has its own oil company. It's called Galgala Oil Company; if what you say is true, please search for oil yourself. Puntland will guarantee the security for all companies who invest in Puntland – Muslim or non-Muslim. No country on earth helped Puntland fight a three-month war in Galgala hills against Al Shabaab terrorists. Now that Puntland won the war, and is improving its security, the complaints about U.N. arms embargo is the discussion? Did the U.N. help Puntland fight a war? Does U.N. protect Puntland officials, who face assassination by Al Shabaab any minute? Oh wait, U.N. officials with three-piece suit are sipping coffee in New York City. We say: Puntland security first, U.N. whining later. Puntland has no time for U.N. whining when its officials are targets. Puntland will not be a sitting duck, waiting for Al Shabaab terrorists to shoot our brilliant men and women, who work hard, who dedicate their life to helping their people. Puntland will never appease terrorists. But those who lie, and say Puntland wants oil in Galgala, please feel free to invest in Galgala and search for this elusive oil. Puntland will guarantee security for all investors. International Crisis Group is a criminal organization based in Brussels. Their meetings are all about how to create violence and conflict in Pakistan, or Venezuela, or Puntland. They are intellectual mercenaries. Puntland has defeated Al Shabaab and Al Qaeda ideology. The remaining Al Shabaab terrorist cells will be dealt with mercilessly. But Puntland, or the Somali people as a whole as the gatekeepers of Islam, will never apologize for our Holy Religion. Puntland is home to Muslims. AP reports that a so-called Muslim country is funding anti-piracy troops being trained in Puntland. Must be the crime of the century! One imagines the three-piece suit man, reading a newspaper in Melbourne or Seattle, who reads the AP version of truth about Puntland's anti-piracy troops. The notion of a "Muslim country" funding troops in Puntland is supposed to scare that man with the suit. He will wonder, he will ask questions, he will have much to fear. So Puntland should have waited for Western donor money to fund its own security? Our deepest apologies, on behalf of Puntland since everyone is convinced Garowe Online is Puntland government. We are sorry. We should have waited. Waited for the terrorists to bomb our homes! We should give terrorists more time to kill educated persons in Puntland. Yes, this is appeasement policy of Western powers – those who declared a war they will never finish. Yes, lets appease the terrorists and say Somalia has U.N. arms embargo. Please don't mention the terrorists who control ports and airports in Baidoa, Marka, Kismayo, Bali Dogle and Barawe. They have airplanes and ships bring them weapons every week. Please, don't mention them because the West appeases such terrorists. No one mention them. How dare you mention them! Mention Puntland! They are under U.N. arms embargo on Somalia. Use Associated Press, to ensure delivery of message in every Western household, everyone should be scared of Puntland security forces being trained and funded by, so-called "Muslim country" and their "zakat fund." Why is this Muslim country so mysterious? Associated Press should respect itself and never allow unconfirmed news to be published. Unless, there are Western governments who are unhappy, who are in fact terrified, Puntland will have helicopters to hunt down Al Shabaab and Al Qaeda terrorists. TFG is a failure – it's a joke among Somali people. Sheikh Sharif is a coward who lives inside of a plane – when he is not inside of a plane, he is asking his best friend Godane to have mercy on Ugandan soldiers serving in Mogadishu. Not asking mercy for his Somali brothers. No one knows what the West wants with Somalia. Maybe Somalia should be a bathroom for Ethiopians to use. Or maybe Somalia should bow down to the power of its enemies, including those in the West, who advocate for continued anarchy in Somalia. This will never be acceptable. Somalis will have their own army, they will rise above expectations, and Africa will be stunned when its hero (Somalia) stands up again. No one has the right or ability to interfere with Puntland's security interests. Puntland will fight its enemies, first and foremost those who advocate assassinations and bombings in Puntland. There will be no mercy for them. Puntland shall never apologize for taking full charge of its own security. But those terrorists in three-piece suit, who wish to see Somalia burn forever and be enslaved by Ethiopians and Ugandans, please remember one truth: Puntland's destiny is already decided. Hate it or love it. Garoweonline

Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on Sunday made a surprise visit to the Somali capital Mogadishu, becoming the first foreign head of state to set foot there in almost 20 years, officials said. This is incorrect a few years ago Ethiopian Prime Minister Meles Zenawi went to Mogadishu. Unless they don't consider him foreign??

Libaahe according to the residents of Buhoodle it was the Ethiopian army! Who had set up road blocks and crossed the border! Regardless of who it was or how long they stayed, are you not against a foreign force crossing into Buhoodle and killing people? -

SOMALILAND: President Silaanyo to address Chatham House
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Lol, Ngonge atleast I am up front about my position about secessionists. You on the other hand pretend that your issue is only with Faroole for some reason, when it is quite obvious there is way more to it! I did google and did my research. Apparently no international organization participated it in, specifically the UN who refused. There was no census taken and the NWSomalia government relied on "elders" to decide on who can vote. this is what I found: BBC The vice-chairman of the national constitutional commission said he was hoping for a turnout of 60%. But the vote is not straight forward: •There is no census, so community elders are deciding who should vote •In two areas local people are divided over whether they should belong to Somaliland or the neighbouring administrative region of Puntland •Some in Somaliland do not want to break from Somalia at all Also, the 97% vote, is supcicious in my own opinion, considering a year after the "vote" Riyaale was kicked out of Lascaanood. Anyways, I think you and I can agree whether it is fair or not, in Africa a UN recognized referendum must take place in all area's that you claim your borders fall with in for independence to be granted. Anyways, Thanks! -

They can't possibly think that in this day and age a small group (in this case elders) can decide the fate of an entire group. They have to realize that all over Africa countries decide through referendum? Originally posted by The Zack: ^They will come back and tell you they were never part of Somalia or they were a country even before Somalia was one . They can't say that For instance Eritrea is an EXCELLENT example!! For obvious reasons. Even though they were able to defeat Ethiopia in a war in 1991 after 30 years it was demanded that they hold a referendum in 1993 which was called UN Observer Mission to Verify the Referendum in Eritrea or UNOVER.... which was Following a UN-supervised referendum in Eritrea (dubbed UNOVER) in which the Eritrean people overwhelmingly voted for independence, Eritrea declared its independence and gained international recognition in 1993.[10] The 97% of elders voting is not sufficient! No matter what JB says or Ngonge, they know that even if (for arguments sake) they were to get independence a referendum would have to be held in all area's that they claim their enclave borders fall with in! -

Originally posted by NGONGE: ^^ Whatever reply he gave you would not really matter, would it? 97% was the magic number. Do you know how that was arrived at? Thats exactly what I am asking him, I want to know how this vote was done. Because there is only one way to secede'and that is through a internationally recognized referendum! Also, how can you say that 97% of people vote in favor of something when you are unable to even send ballot boxes to every place. So again JB...who voted 97%...when and where did this take place and how? -

JB what people voted? You are saying you had an internationally monitored referendum? Or are you talking about the Burco in the triangle conference that only had a select few people vote and not the entire population? Even your selections didn't have ballot boxes go to every corner that you claim to have a right over. Surely you dont think that is acceptable by international law? -
Originally posted by Xaji_Xunjuf: quote: when we rejoined Somalia after the colonialist’s broke us up Did Somalia even exist before 1884?? what was there to rejoin Somalia's modern history began in the late 19th century, when various European powers began to trade and establish themselves in the area. The British East India Company's desire for unrestricted harbor facilities led to the conclusion of treaties with the sultan of Tajura as early as 1840. It was not until 1886, however, that the British gained control over northern Somalia through treaties with various Somali chiefs who were guaranteed British protection. British objectives centered on safeguarding trade links to the east and securing local sources of food and provisions for its coaling station in Aden. The boundary between Ethiopia and British Somaliland was established in 1897 through treaty negotiations between British negotiators and King Menelik. State.gov To answer you question, yes it was. The British Broke it up!

You must have a Referendum! Just like Quebec did in 1980 and 1995, Montenegro in 2006 and what South Sudan will do in 2011 (just to name a few). NW Somalia's leaders choose to have the conference in the triangle and had a relative small number of people speak for an entire population. You must let the people choose. I know what you will say, “oh we didn’t have a referendum when we rejoined Somalia after the colonialist’s broke us up”. Well for arguments sake, let’s say that if anyone were to agree to NW Somalia's independence, they would undoubtedly request that a referendum be held first. That Burao conference is not acceptable.

They never said the "whole" admin was crooks. Of the entire government the report named but a few individuals that are suspected. The issues in Mogadishu took place because the ICU threaten to expand! Also, I was responded to Suldaanka on this thread who said the SSC militia was no match for his enclave! If that was the case why would the Ethiopians have attacked Buhoodle?
-
Brother, 2 different UN reports said Atam was suspected of being a terrorist. The U.S has put him on a list! The man has been recorded admitting he and Al Shabaab are the same. The SSC on the other hand has only been accused by your enclave and as a result the Ethiopians actually attacked Buhoodle this year!
-
Originally posted by Suldaanka: The small SSC militia is no match to the well armed and equipped Somaliland military just like Puntland's melitia was no match in 2007. Lol, but 5 years earlier that "well armed and equipped Somali land military" was unable to protect it's president when he visited Laascaanood and he was forced to flee the same day never to return again! I am pretty sure if the SSC were no match for NW Somalia's militia, your regional government would not have labelled them terrorists and asked Ethiopians attack them earlier this year.

Addis Ababa: Siilanyu will leave with no recognition...

Originally posted by Xaji_Xunjuf: Somaliland president gets a better welcome then the recognized sh dalxiis in Ethiopia lol OF COURSE, like come on Xaaji….seriously!!! The Ethiopians don't want the TFG to be successful or encourage them in anyway. They remember the wars Somalia had with Ethiopia; do you think they are worried about Puntland or NW Somalia challenging for the Somali Galbeed? They remember when we had one of most well disciplined armies in Africa. So they will welcome different regional enclaves and give them the red carpet and limousines. They want to encourage fragmentation of Somalia. Never forget that Somalia’s neighbors Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti have arguably benefitted the most because of Somalia’s turmoil and the fact that the only internationally recognized government (the TFG) is weak. The UN and many other organizations are based in these countries; they have received enormous amounts of aid to deal with Somalia. (I even read that Japan is building a base in Djibouti to deal with Piracy!) These three nations - love the situation Somalia is in, they don’t want the TFG to become strong, they prefer to have small little enclaves that get excited every time they invite them to their country. 30 years ago we were the ones that they came to for training! -
We Have Been Robbed of Our Seats in The Cabinet
Thankful replied to Che -Guevara's topic in Politics
The picture is very powerful and when you travel back home and see this kind of poverty it is 100x more saddening. They definitely don't care and probably don't even know who was named as ministers. People are upset at such trivial matters like whether or not their community is represented or not. Always attacking the government about worthless things. If only we all put our efforts towards something more productive, so we can help the poor back home. Powerful image!! -
Africanown, I am just pointing out to some of your NW Somalis that say we are a clan state! They are in no position to do so!

Originally posted by Xaji_Xunjuf: ^^ they have the defence minister in somaliland, what do they have in the tfg nothing. And currently they are at war with the piratenland. so thats not even an option. Ayoub that is quite sad!!! I mean, I won't completely blame you because Xaaji started this "fib". But for you to go along with it knowing that Cadami was a dishonest example and you presented him differently. You know what I meant when I said "people of Sanaag (and you know who I am talking about." The community Ilka-Jiir belongs to, who have never been represented. Remember this whole article is about the so called Maakhir's. Like anyone, I might make mistakes but I don't purposely use examples that are untrue. Finally, I am happy you have given up. I would like to say this in final. This all starts when JB or Xaaji refer to Puntland as a clan state. You see when you guys say pirateland or refer me as a pirate. I have never responded to it by insulting back. Because, I am not offended and I think it is quite childish. More importantly I truly believe (even if my fellow Puntlanders don’t), that Piracy was used as a political tool. Puntland has a big coastline and although attacks occurred all over, there was really one major base. I think this is because a very small portion of leaders allowed a base to set up in their communities when they could have done something about it. You enclave of NW Somalia - just like the Islamic Courts Union was able to do when they were in power – was not allow pirates to operate! So when you insult Puntland about it, fine I’ll give you that one! The point I am getting at is this, when you or your fellow secessionist refer to Puntland as a clan enclave like I have seen on many threads, I must respond to that comment. Because, of the fact that you are probably even worse culprits of one clan domination. I provided evidence of this! You selections were clear examples of this!!! Sure Riyaale was the President, and before that he held the position of vice president against the dominant group until the then president passed away. However during Riyaale’s reign as president his vice president was from the dominant group and the only two opposition leaders he had to run against in both selections were also. Sure you let people vote in certain area’s but no one from Sool or Sanaag, (I don’t use tribes because of the rules) has ran during these so called elections! Yet JB is saying that because people from Maakhir were not represented among the TFG ministers they should join NW Somalia!!! Where they have never even ran for the top job?? Come on! So you can insult us on certain stuff, but not on things you are just as guilty of!!!

Such political pretenders! The secessionist enclave watch the news and see what governments around the world do, and than do a poor job trying to emulate them. No real government would have the head of their intelligence resign without giving a thorough explanation on reasons behind it. If they didn't than the media and more importantly the people would start with ridiculous rumors and the situation would be a PR nightmare. (For instance some think the reason there is no explanation given is because the Ethiopians are behind this -becauase of the ONLF and other issues - and that is why Silanyo didnt visit Ethiopia after Djibouti like he was suppose to - the Ethiopians wanted a new head of intelligence before he could visit, so the NW Somalia admin made this guy retire). Anyways you get the point! You can't just have the head of your supposed intelligence resign without a press conference explaining why or you risks everything coming back to bite you! But hey like JB says, in NW Somalia we do things differently I guess!
