Cnn?? Actually they are basing everything on this "Somalia's Islamic radicals claimed Tuesday they had captured an Ethiopian officer after heavy fighting against pro-government militia in which 43 were killed." The so-called courts are barring media from going into certain areas, instead they choose to send out information stating ridiculous numbers like this one. Lets be honest both sides are making many claims. Now if there was a non-bias news agency on the ground over there, that's a different story. I wounldn't be surprised if they dressed up one of the thousands of Ethiopians, which i've personally seen living in Somalia and claim he is a military officer.

Latest on rising tension..Government Vs Courts.
Thankful replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
I always hear Ethiopians soldiers were involved. So can someone explain why no photographs have been taken showing them fighting? I mean the Tfg denies they were part of this particular assault, why wouldn't the Courts show photographic proof of Ethiopians among the TFG fighters? For instance Ethiopians patrolling the streets of Buur Hakaba. Let’s be honest, both sides are accusing each other of a lot of different things. I hope some concrete proof starts being produced. -
This is my favorite part of the article. "We have taken over 20 vehicles, including three big trucks mounted with anti-aircraft missiles," said Dahir Ahmed, a local Islamist official. Of course that's what he'll say, because that's the freaking side he is on!!!! What military in the world doesn't send out fake propaganda? My advice to you is to read where the article is getting its info from; regardless of what news agency wrote it. If they were quoting from a bias person (which this so-called Islamist obviously is) then you have to be very skeptical.

That writing style seems so damn familiar......

Don't even bother responding to this nonsense. Same exact people every time! First they tried to get people to listen by making the headlines "Range owned my Zionists", but when the Jewish card didn’t work, they decided to go with this ridiculous accusation. Even though practically every other leader in Somali history has been accused of this, I thought they'd make up something more original then the same old tired toxic waste dumping story. I can't wait to see when this one fails, what they'll come up with next.

Report: Government troops moving towards Bali-doogle...Its begun
Thankful replied to General Duke's topic in Politics
Excellent move by the TFG, now that's a classic military tactic that was used. By storming in like that, you can get an idea what kind of defenses your enemies have...i.e. weapons, positioning. Then you hold it for a few hours, and retreat. I guess we saw the true nature of our enemy. They were quick to run away! I remember reading that just before the U.S took over Baghdad, they did the same thing and raced into the city center and raced back out. I think the TFG was sending a message, because the clan courts were getting too close. DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT IT. -

It's funny when the so-called battle of Majihaan took place, no letter was written or protests from the Geedi. If a fight was really taking place (which never happened), wouldn't that have been the time to write one? What is so special with right now? I'll tell you, it has to all do with the trip President Cade made to Ethiopia and the how successful it was. He was given a full presidential visit, something that Riyaale didn't receive on his trip at the same time as President Cade was there and Geedi never has received. Geedi never protested the deal while people were trying to pretend a battle took place wherever Range went and now a month and a half later he is? But like I said, what can he do to stop it? Send troops to Bosasso port? He should focus on the War crimes occurring in Mogadishu and less on jealousy. No one can stop the deal, as long as President Cade has the people support. The desperate situation many people are facing here and the potential foreign investment brings has made this deal successful in Puntland. But of course, those living abroad would love to say otherwise.

Been away for a bit, see things haven't changed. Wow, the same people using the same tribal websites as their sources. But it's hilarious, even though my own commonsense would never allow me to quote a site that refuses to name the author of a certain article and where they are receiving their information, people here are always doing it and it's strange how all the other sites are bad except for the ones they quote. Throwing around numbers off the top of their heads about this payment and that payment. Seriously though, the President has made a successful trip to Ethiopia and more are planned, things are very peaceful in Puntland. The Government and mostly the people have shown they can handle any crisis. It is only those living abroad that love to talk and complain. Look at all those articles that are being written and where those people are, laasqory...garowe etc all living abroad, the people posting here, all leaving abroad. They all get their info from 2nd, 3rd and 4th hand sources. Whatever they read, they automatically believe. Regardless, first they claimed that Geedi will never accept the deal, then faroole tried to use violence and was humiliated, after that their are battles all of here and there. I suggest people travel to Puntland first and learn what is really going on. Things are great!!! Regardless of what people are writing on a tribal site, living abroad. I suggest everyone simply make a trip and see.

No one killed in Puntland operations, Range insists
Thankful replied to codetalker's topic in Politics
Since the problem now has a final and "proper solution," it is a wonder why Mr. Povey and Mr. Cadde Muuse haven't personally visited exploration areas such as Majiyahan and Qandala districts I believe he was the anonymous who wrote to Garoweonline and asked to cease and desist from reporting the conflict for that creates negativity on the situation. Art my friend, you are dealing with a person(s) that use pure speculation and opinions for their arguments, never facts. Which I am almost certain have never visited Puntland. Calling Bosasso's presidential palace heavily fortified is proof. Codetalker, with regards to comments that Mr Povey's payments being a bribe, I'm sure that these payments must be fully transparent as all transactions being done by range are under the scrutiny of the australian stock exchange and the australian investments and securities commision. Another australian company , the australian wheat board is now thw victim of an investigation following bribes in Iraq . For your information Jamie freed is an expat US female based in Australia You are using facts and destroying any argument they make. If you are expecting a factual based dialogue you will never get it from the same few person(s) that love to quote the same tribal websites. It's better to try and get info from people on the ground over there and not people living in North America. Codetalker, Have you not read the article? Boi Boi it's called selective-reading. Their only interests are the parts that concern their tribal cause. So they seem to skim through the article looking for more things to post that can help their arguments. -
Puntland Shirkada Range oo heshiis ku saxiixdey Boosaso

The ignorance never ceases to amaze me. Then they actually expect their question to be answered by people on this site. Oh yeah, can't wait to hear the one trick pony Boqortooya jokes!!! If you act like a kid, you'll get treated like one. From what I’m hearing this deal has so far done wonders for the admin. Of course no one wants to get carried away, politics in Puntland, just like the world is a roller coaster ride, but people are realizing that if things are being built the deal maybe to their benefit. For certain this shook Puntland to its core and turned a lot of heads. REER GAROWE HAVE ALWAYS WANTED AN AIRPORT, I mean in less then two years two airports have been promised (one is being built), I know what ignorance will say “oh the Arabs built it, or the Australians not the Admin! I've said it many times, but we outside of Somalia have the luxury to say "wait, don’t sign the deal, we aren't ready". Then we go to our Starbucks, movies and so forth. Back home it's life and death, and believe me if the Admin continues building something the people will be more then satisfied. -

Amazing development, I'm very proud of what Puntland is doing and how they are becoming a model for the rest of Somalia. This exploration debate has never been an issue until this Administration took over. Now you hear of Somliland trying to go ahead with it as well. Focusing on Garowe is a very wise; it's the heart of Puntland, which is why it's the capital. You can add this development to the long list of successes. One thing is for certain Puntland needs investment (, i.e. from Its PEOPLE,) who should start returning and rebuilding there land. -
very funny wallhi this clearly shows the set of somali clan perception of one being a dealer and ruler while other being a laborer is this is this neoclanistic capitalism That's how every society works buddy!! As sad as it is, all you have to do is look at U.A.E and other Middle Eastern countries and how poor immigrants from India, Pakistan and so forth built that place and are given next to nothing. American society was built on slavery and is being sustained by cheap labor as we speak, from immigrants, just like Romans did. I love when people on this site use violence, corruption, tribalism etc; and then try and claim it as solely a Somali problem. Is all this right? Heck no! But sadly that is how things are in the world.

Caamir Odweyne do you think the defeated lot could have maintained their grip of power for as long as they want without the support of its citizens? Give me a break, what a ridiculous statement. I mean that's like saying Saddam kept is power because he had the support of the citizens. See the Sunni's are the minority and I'm very certain not many Shi'a or Kurds were supporting him. Yet he kept power for so long. Do you know the ONLY reason why Afweyne kept power for so long? It was because of the support he had from foreign super powers!! At one point no other African country received more military aid. They kept him in power for so long and any person with common sense knows that. The only ones supporting him are related by obvious ways. Ironically they are the same ones ridiculing today's leaders! Yet at onetime supported a murderous dictator, who destroyed Somali unity.

DAGAAL CULUS OO MAANTA KADHACAY SANAAG (GROOWE NEWS REPORTS)

You are absolutely correct! Puntland has a right to help its people in anyway it sees fit. I was just there and let me tell you in many places, it is life and death. People are hopeless and the fact that so many are dying crossing into Yemen, in hopes of a better life, is proof. We in the developed world can complain and try and start friction all we want; print as many bogus web reports, as we like. But at the end of the day, it is people over there and the Gov't that will decide their future. I applaud the president for what he is doing, he won that post fair and square and is making tough decision and trying to get the economy going. Is there a blood bath going on over there? Anyone with commonsense would no of course not. No one has been as interested in helping the people like Pres Cade. I mean, if there was a person, I think that this natural resource debate would have started a long time ago. One thing I know that it is achieving is dialogue and people all over the world are realizing the ship is leaving without them. Desperate times call for desperate measures and we all know Puntland needs a lot of help. Look at this link, for anyone thinking that the people of Puntland are against Pres Cade. Also, remember this particular gathering took place place 30 kilometeres from where the "so called war" is taking place. I heard people lined the streets and 100s met him at the presidential palace. web page -

Fair enough, now that we our clear, I totally understand your stance. I use to criticize our leaders but after I went there I realized that we need more solutions and for our younger generation to get their act together. I also suggest that people don't believe the media reports and look at who's writing it first, for instance reports from Somaliland and other people that wish to see us fall into tribal fighting. Things are tough in Puntland, I mean nothing like Mogadishu, but conflicts will arise but I honestly think things are getting better. Sanaag, Garoowe, Gaalkayo are all minor conflicts that take place in all societies. Yet the difference with Puntland unlike that rest of Somalia, is that the people and administration will find a peaceful solution and I guarantee that. Back to the topic at hand; I'm proud that the TFG is getting some recognition and hopefully people in Diaspora will go back and beginning rebuilding their lands. As John F. Kennedy said "Ask not what your country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your country."

General Duke bro I find it interesting how adamantly you support Abdulahi Yusuf and rarely if ever, criticize him. You speak of Cade and his corruption and the problems facing Puntland (which are nothing compared to the reign of Abdulahi Yusuf). Yet, you are supporting a man (Yey) who has blood on his hands, built no infrastructure and launched coups and civil wars in Puntland and neighbouring regions. I don't come on this site to attack leaders. I suggest that you look at whom you are supporting before you start commenting on others. You can't be a man of peace and criticize Cade and then support Yey!

General Duke bro, as fellow Puntlander, I’ll try and give you information about what happened as was told to me. Your question was extremely valid and went unanswered. I mean if there was a conflict how many were wounded, what weapons were used and so on. My sources tell me that there are survey teams on the ground as we speak looking at the mineral resources over there and that there was no attack or battle that took place. There was a slight altercation where 3 boys fired in the air; I saw people firing in the air occasionally when I was there and most people that have traveled abroad know it is a common occurrence that takes place especially in Africa. But the Puntland police in that area took care of it quickly. No wounded, No Dead; as told to me. General Duke I also heard from my sources that the President will leaving for Yemen within the next 2 hours (Isha'Allah) for a state visit and then he will go to Djibouti for another state visit, he will be accompanied by several ministers as well, Isha'Allah. Do you think he would leave if things were as bad as certain people would want us to believe? See in our society there are flare-ups and disputes just like any place in the world. There are also people that will want to take a minor incident and put their own spin on it. Their goal is to divide and qabiil(tribe) is their weapon; and if you look the sites that first reported it and the people commenting on it, you will see that they don't even come from these areas. From what I’m hearing ministers will be addressing this issue. These are the facts given to me in the area's where this very minor incident occurred from people that are there right now. Bottom line is, it was a little problem, and the government dealt with it professionally (like so many other issues). We'll see how it unfolds, but insha'Allah Puntland will use it's ability to negotiate and resolve all it's problems peaceful, and ability that has eluded so many other areas in Somalia.

Just read this on Hiiraan, written by ANTHONY MITCHELL, Associated Press Writer. I try and stay away from Somali sites for their obvious bias. Such a sad state taken place, the worst hit area in all of Somalia seems to be given the least amount of attention from it's people living in Diaspora; sure all of Somalia is hit by a drought, but there is one area that is hit the hardest. I'll pray that they will find stability and aid. If more focus was put on their well being and those living abroad who are associated with them mobilized and put their suffering first and stop concerning themselves with regions in Somalia i.e Puntland, Somaliland(which they have no association with),I believe people in these area's would definitely benefit immensely. Reer Gedo living abroad are very disappointing. The United Nations appealed Tuesday for nearly $327 million in aid to help starving people in southern Somalia, which is suffering its worst drought in a decade. About 2.1 million people are coping with severe food shortages caused by prolonged drought, war, displacement, flooding and human rights abuses, said the U.N. Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. "This current drought is unprecedented in 10 years, and the impact it is having on food, water, health, education and livelihoods is alarming," said Christian Balslev-Olesen, the world body's acting humanitarian coordinator for Somalia. "With a rapidly deteriorating humanitarian situation, the humanitarian community needs to scale up its current response exponentially." Somalia has not had an effective central government since opposition leaders ousted longtime dictator Mohamed Siad Barre in 1991. They then turned on each other, carving the nation into a patchwork of clan-based fiefdoms. Since then, persistent local conflicts have eroded Somali livelihoods. Infant, child and maternal mortality rates are among the highest in the world. Medicines also are needed to prevent a measles outbreak and curb the spread of polio in the region, Balslev-Olesen said. "This is a race against the clock to stem the tide of human misery," he said. The drought has tipped the balance in the highly impoverished border areas where Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti and Kenya meet. Those areas include Gedo, Middle and Lower Juba, and parts of Bay and Bakool, the world body said. The United Nations says more than 11.5 million people will require food assistance in the next six months. Somalia's Transitional Federal Government needs to do more to ensure security so aid organizations can operate effectively, Balslev-Olesen said. The United Nations also said it needed $225 million to feed 3.5 million Kenyans over the next year, but it so far has received only about $75 million. The European Commission on Tuesday donated about $6 million to help provide food aid to Kenya.

How'd I know if I set the bait out the Seattle "Gedo Boys" Siad Loving Trinity would come out -{"Try saying that 3 times}, three entities of the same substance!! I dont know why I respond to these posts it's far too easy. But this one was just too ridiculous to pass up, THANKS FOR PROVING MY POINT, THE WORST HIT AREA IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS SAYING, THE AREA GIVING THE MOST ATTENTION BY THE MEDIA IS WHERE I WAS REFERRING TO. YOUR.......AREA!!!!!!!!! Focusing on saving their lives and not hating on others! I can't believe you would use that Map as an example; what were you thinking? I'll wait for the response from the other part of your split personality, alter ego or whatever you'd like to call it!! Who will it be this time?
