What's with constant Bugland appellation? They can't admit there are other places in Somalia that is peaceful and organized. So since they can't use the tribal name that their highest gov't officials use they got to say Bugland lol. They also love flooding the site with negative news from Puntland and absolute nonsense from their tribal land. Such as, "Somaliland Airforce", I truly believe this is a cult now. They majority of their capital doesn't even have paved roads and they send us an article about an airforce?? Is this the talk of a mentally stable gov't?

Lets see all of your president Riyaales assests and President Cades. Riyaale own homes abroad and within your enclave, that's why he extended the elections, life is too good.

The number 1 reason somaliland can't get recognition is because they are a tribal entity. How many reer sool/sanaag hold high positions in it's gov't? I know your argument that Riyaale is from a smaller and he's the leader, but everyone know's it's one tribe in charge there. Puntland had Laascaanod for longer then 5 years and if Somaliland was wanted why was Riyaale almost assasinated last time? Why were their riots when Puntland left? The video's are on youtube! Haabsade leaves Somaliland gov't and you lose laascaanod, Haabsade gets sacked from Puntland and Laascaanod is back in your hands, we no how many times President Cade Muse went to Laascaanod, lets see Riyaale do this during the elections that he was some how capable of extending; some democracy. -
there is no Puntland to speak of! Dont you wish???? I've said it before, Puntland was built in response to Somaliland. As long as they exist, Puntland will. But it's an aministration under the TFG and if there was no Puntland their would be no TFG. Which by the way is getting stronger everyday, more embassies opening and a safer Mogadishu. Of course this is why the Somaliland govt never refers to it as Puntland and only use a tribal name, they can not have any peace anywhere else in Somalia for their agenda to work. But back to my point, if you want President Cade out, you better have someone to take his place!

What I am saying that yes he is from Canada, but because he faught Abdullahi Yusuf and then make peace back in 2002/03, something Jama Ali Jama didn't do. He was able to gain the respect of many people who ended up looking past the fact he had been out of the country for so long and resulted in him winning the presidency. They won't elect someone that comes to the country from abroad this year and runs in the election. I'm pretty sure he will run again and if you can't even name alternative leaders then he will most likely win. There's NO way he'll be able to extend his term for any reason, it's written in the constitution and Puntlanders dont accept that nonesense. My question is this, what other potential leader is out there that the people will accept?
-
President Cade Muse will win the next term if things continue the way they are. Name me other candidates that are available, who have done something in Puntland that stood out? With president Cade must and his batttle against Abdullahi Yusuf he gained respect from the people within Puntland and would never have won the presidency if he had not done so. Regardless of what you may make up about what they feel, they definitely respect him. People in Puntland are already annoyed with the diaspora in government and there is no way they will allow someone from abroad win the elections. Now that leaves it to local population. What names are out there? Less then a year and times running out.

A picture tells a thousand words!!! Well done.

I know Dr Osman Warsame wrote this, but is any Somaliland representatives in the pics?

GJ, You are confusing things. Somaliland is against the occupation of Somalia by Ethiopia, but that is a completely seperate issue with its search for recognition of its indepedence by the AU. Somaliland will discuss its national interests with members of the AU. JB is correct, as a Somali lander you can be against the occupation, but the above quote is wrong. You're government is not against the occupation and even though they have nothing to do with it, they still don't speak against it.
-
We have no choice but Somaliweyne, I can't think of many other African countries with a people that share so many things. The AU probably laughs when they hear talk about Somalia breaking up, they will never give it, (which is why the US referred it to them). Their argument is that if Somaliland got it, then Puntland would ask and Maakhir and it would just keep going and spread to the rest of Africa.

Because there are pics??? I am not believing any tribal Somali sites.... Every single one of them are and know they can't be sued and might add the majority are written by people no where near Africa, in the west they complain about hotel journalism in Somalia their in another continent. Now we need audio of her interviews that she gave to somaliland media outlets(I know i'm asking for too much). Believe me TFG supporters and non-secessionists aren't concerned, after the state departments stand on this issue.

You see the smile on her face? She must go and tell her family and friends the royal treatment Somalis give her, flowers and a red carpet. Like she Nelson Mandela. She probably gets nothing near that anywhere else and will definitely be back a lot more!

Time has changed sxb ,,, this is not 5yrs ago ,, this is 2008 and the ball changed to the other side of the ground. Reer sool changed their mind and chose to join the Somalilan truck. I agree, the decision makers their did for the time being! -

So Puntland fights without uniforms? lol, show's how much you know. It's the only way to tell the two sides apart. Let me get this right, you have captured our prisoners and we have never captured any of yours in the past??? It seems you're a bit confused here ,,, the people in Sool are Somalilanders and no one is occupying a land that is not belong to him ,,, All the police, military personnel, government officials, etc. working in Sool region are originally from that region ,,, tell me if they are occupying their own land ,,, they've the right to believe what they want and welcome to the land of democracy I can't believe that nonesense. For 5 YEARS, no somaliland officals were allowed into the city at all, Your president was chased out and has never returned YOUR SO CALLED ELECTIONS BOXES NEVER ARRIVED THERE. The president of Puntland made many trips there AND WAS NEVER HARMED. When the Garaad had his ceremony, something I was there to see, there were Somalis from all over Somalia and the world present...NO HIGH RANKING SOMALILAND OFFICALS WERE PREMITTED TO TALK, definitely no Riyaale. It shocks me that Habsaade who tried to kill your president switches sides and now you are acting like you did everything lol. -

What prisoners? I loved those pics they displayed of a bunch of guys sitting down in civilian clothing saying this is who we have caught (let me guess they gave them a change of clothes and then took a pic?). Prisoners They capture one or two guys in uniform who are the tribe of Lascaanod, but are against Habsaade. But then ask a bunch of people to sit down and take their pics (Usually prisoners who are not p.o.w in jail who have no idea what is going), The guys sitting down in civilian clothes are not fighters!!! Just like Riyaale arresting a bunch of guys claiming they are al qaeda!!! This has everything to do with the tribe of Lascaanod! Same people that tried to kill your president Riyaale a few years earlier and chased him out. -
Lol, I still can't believe they would have no pics of him getting off the plane and being welcomed by "his people". All we got was a pic of some guys standing near cars.

Any pics? Apparently camera's are band in that province! We must take the word of the noble Wargeyska Geeska Afrika. Pics? Nay. It was the "secret services" Believe me.....US Military officials are frequent visitors to all corners of Somalia!!!

US Press Release On the Visit of Somaliland Delegation
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
All you have to do is check out the different websites....No TFG supporters are protesting the state departments announcement. On the other hand wiht you guys??? Somaliland.org Mr President I know its a bit out of line sending you a letter through this way but its the only way I think I might get in touch with you.I know you have advisors and so on but I doubt if any are any good or are simply too afraid to point this out to you but I think you should know this. I have seen over the years the numerous visits or so that you have undertaken to different nations around the world and on each visit I seem to have noticed that you have taken your wife Huda Barkhad along with you.Just to illustrate my point if one looks through the pictures associated with your most recent trip to the UK and USA she is right there among the delegates in almost all the pictures. Now I do not wish to dwell on the cost of taking her along with you but the point I wish to make is simple.Nearly all state visits by any president means the first lady is there as well but in your case you are the president of an unrecognized nation which does not make your visit an official state visit. Moreover half the people you meet on your visits are technocrats or low level political appointees and as such dragging the missus with you is really a waste. On your US trip I also noticed from the pictures online your lunch with the undersecretary of State at the State department, she was sitting next to you.Now I seriously doubt if any of the people you met had their spouses with them and as such there was no need to have taken her.Even the most educated stay home mum in America would rather be home watching tv then to be with their husbands in a meeting.Secondly that whole experience I believe is what they call a working lunch in America.Instead you should have sent her on a sightseeing trip around the beautiful DC area or to one of the many malls in Virginia while you and your ministers discussed matters of importance to our nation. Eventhough your visit to the US can not be called a state visit however if you think it was then I believe that is what other presidents wives do while their husbands are busy with matters of state. As far as the meeting you had with the Somaliland community in Arlington, Virginia I again think she should not have been there.Normally in meetings like that where there is a question and answer session there is moments where someone could say the wrong thing and as far as our Somali culture goes its wrong in to reprimand a man infront of his wife. Therefore if you think its very important to take your wife along make sure you pick the moments when she should be around and when she should be sightseeing…. Lol, like I said before I slightly admire your obsession. Take the press release however you want, but I think this is the first time both sides of debate are satisfied. -
US Press Release On the Visit of Somaliland Delegation

Nope, those pictures with the cab drivers standing infront of the black cars at the airport were bogus(which never showed Riyaale), he went to museums and other tours with no guides! No mention of him on the state department website. And when they did mention Somaliland they basically told you that your trip was pointless and we aren't changing our minds!!! -
The tribe from the northwest's(somaliland) website is sooooo neutral lol! only a fool would use them as a source. Just like how they wrote the same nonsense when Abdullahi Yusuf and Jama Ali Jama fought and claimed Puntland is done. Let me say this, as long as the somalilands dominant tribe has assembled, Puntland will stay united and be there!

Wow, forgot about that post. My issues are with their borders; they need to change that. All of Sool and Sanaag? You have to have a free and fair election where everyone gets to vote, just like other countries that decided to breakaway. I met a German engineer who builds roads in Bosasso, and even though he said that Hargeysa is by far the safest, he was shocked when he was given a map and when he asked to go to certain area's on that map, he was told "no no we can't this tribe lives there and this tribe lives there." You can't ask for independence if you can't even go to the places on your map, and most importantly the people want u there!! You got to make sure your president can travel to all the places on your map!!!! About Puntland, it’s a catch 22, even though I think the only way to have peace is for area's to break away. There's no way the AU will grant us independence, same religion, ethnicity, language and culture. So we have no choice but to work it out. Oh yeah, That comment I made about Puntland breaking away was written during the time of the ICU and their tribals goals of attacking a peaceful enclave!

The United States and Somaliland: Recongition and Recognition
Thankful replied to Jacaylbaro's topic in Politics
Somalilanders both and home and abroad are heartened by our President's visit to Washington. Not all Somalilanders!! I followed with interest the ongoing visit of President Dahir Riyaale to the United States and decided to refrain at first from making any comments that would have been deemed pessimistic by pro Somaliland quarters but to my surprise it came as no surprise this morning when I saw what I thought was a total slap in the face by the State Deaprtment spokeman when he reiterated the long held belief that this was after all a much ado about nothing trip that we have come accustomed to seeing in the past. What was even more surprising was how the poor folks back home were made to believe that their massive demostrations back home would amount to something but alas no CNN coverage no reporters there to report it except for a few Somaliland websites. What I think the call for the demostrations clearly proved was the governments lack of understanding and their sometimes unwise rush to action mentality. Now the question on my mind is simple what was the purpose of the trip, was there some understanding between Riyaale and the US government that we are not being told about after all we were made to believe that something might come out of this but todays press briefing hashed what believe no matter how big or small we might have had of the outcome of this trip. What was the President like status Riyaale and his entourage were accorded while in the US,was it just to shore up his fledgling support back home and what will the UDUB loud speakers say when he does go back home…… Whatever the outcome of his mad dash to the UK and the USA one thing is evident Somaliland enemies today are celebrating. A few days back most were made to swallow their words when contrary to their beliefs Riyaale was treated somewhat different than the late Egal when he came here in 1999 but todays events has the Somaliland supporters like me on our backfoot again, trying to make some sort of sense out of this contradiction coming out of the State Department.
