  1. Of course not, are you hoping for conflict? Even during Siad's time Nugaal was on the verge of being explored and a source of great interest for conoco. The area they are headed to know is very peaceful. Puntland has always been the area of Somalia with the best potential. As long as everyone benefits things will be fine.
  2. The whole world is seeing a rescission first off. The price of oil is hurting everyone. With that being said. Between 2005 when President Cade started his term until Dec 06, when the war with the south began Puntland had very little trouble. The piracy, crime, all those things you are complaining about didn’t' exist. Every problem occurred when the war broke out. As any historian or politician, wars are costly on many factors. You are upset because the side you support was defeated. I believe your intentions are to see Puntland broken which would then hurt the TFG. Puntland has giving millions to the TFG and on top of soldiers as well. Go on google earth, and look at the airport being built in Bosasoo, with their meager funds. They even have a live stock quarantine they are building. I've said it in another thread, don't think a government will come that will be more sympathtic to clan courts or any other movement bent on war. It won't happen in Puntland.
  3. That's what Garoweonlines intentions where. For others to believe it. Look at their website, they never mention anything about other presidential candidates. Wait until Faroole comes, and the coverage they give him.
  4. I think he has no choice. They'll call him out and he'll have to accept. You'll see! After Pres Cade won in 2005, a lot of people from every country that has a significant Somali population have decided they to can run and win as well. Many of those running now are from abroad. But make no mistake about it. Cade will not be pres forever. But if you think a pres will come who will support the clan courts or any other movement. Whatever government their is in 2009, will support the TFG and it's allies, if not more then it does now. So don't get your hopes up!! All these guy's might speak about change in Puntland and putting things back together. But I highly doubt any of them will speak against the TFG or it's allies and expect to win!!!!
  5. This is excellent, can't wait until the debates. Emperor, do you have any background info on this man? I hear there are convoys all over the Puntland with candidates driving preparing to run. Drumming up support and a lot more will be coming soon.
  6. Che, do you see how only a day later Garoweonline starts back tracking? Now they'll say, he wanted to extend the term by one year but was scared off by the elders. THESE GUYS ARE JOKES. Bottom line is, time is running out, and there is no big names out there running!!! Somalia: Puntland leader returns home as elders issue warning 20 May 20, 2008 - 7:17:03 PM BOSSASO, Somalia May 20 (Garowe Online) - The president of Somalia's Puntland regional government returned home Tuesday after spending nearly two months overseas, officials said. President Mohamud "Adde" Muse landed in the port city of Bossaso after his final departure from neighboring Djibouti, where he was welcomed by an assortment of Puntland government officials. The Puntland leader visited capitals in Ethiopia, Kenya, Great Britain and Djibouti before returning home. He has not yet discussed his overseas trip with local media. Gen. Adde Muse, Puntland leader But Mr. Muse's return trip home coincides with emerging reports that interim Somali President Abdullahi Yusuf is secretly backing an initiative extending the one-year term for Muse's four-year governing mandate in Puntland. [READ: Somali Leader Pursuing One-Year Term Extension for Puntland Ruler] In Garowe, the capital of Puntland, a group of 50 traditional elders who represent local clans issued a strong message to the Adde Muse administration about widespread reports of a term extension. According to elders from Nugal region, where Garowe is located, the Muse government's term in office ends in January 2009, when the elders urged the region' s presidential elections be held as scheduled. The Nugal clan elders warned against the proposed one-year extension period for the Puntland administration, fearing consequences of disorder and others problems in the region. Source: Garowe Online
  7. I guess we can have one big happy party and we agree on something. Riyaale is doing an amazing job for Somalilands recognition, has absolutely accomplished nothing. The TFG since 2004 has done more and has embassies all over the world. The only thing Somaliland bragged about, their democracy, Riyaale has completed threw out. Got reject on his tour of washington with his wife by his side. RIYAALE FOR LIFE.
  8. I hope somalilands tribal enclave has peaceful meetings. It is run by one dominant tribe, who appointed a president from a smaller one, so they could give the impression of being diverse. The TFG is made up of Somalis from every corner. Just look what happened when Riyaale came to another tribes city of Lascaanod a few years back. Pure chaos and he was chased out.
  9. I've told you a million times what garoweonline is about. So now this will be the article that proves it. President Cade Muse has said everytime their will be an election on time in Puntland. People around him have suggested that he has some grounds to extend his term, but he refuses. Garoweonline wants to piss people off by reporting from "inside sources". They are so scared! Because President Cade Muse knows he has a very high chance of winning. Everyone knows it, THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO ONE ELSE OUT THERE. Do you think guys coming on an election year from abroad to campaign will win? Cade Muse was in Puntland for 3 years before he ran, now these guys are rushing less then a year before an election to run. You'll see Faroole coming by the end of the summer or fall.... But anyways, when there is an election in January, I hope you'll finally realize garoweonline is nonesense.
  10. It seems the ones that were violently oppressed are now the ones violently oppressing. They just had that truth and reconciliation conference and forgave all the past torture and promised no retaliation against the whites. But now they are unleashing their rage on poor immigrants. They have an inferiority complex and it’s sad.
  11. AfricaOwn said "He didn't extend his own term. The House of Guurti of Somaliland have done it" So focus on the highlighted area on the article. The House of Guurti is not a neutral decision maker and has no authority (according to the article). But then again, I never expect you to debate. If it comes between war and Riyaale, the choice is obvious keep him in power. That's the benefit of have a state dominated by one clan, you can always find a peaceful resolution.
  12. He didn't extend his own term. The House of Guurti of Somaliland have done it The House of Guurti is UNELECTED and have very close relations with Riyaale. I'm just saying this is not some small little issue, I guess you have no clue the repercussions internationally you'll have by extending a term by 1 year for no reason. Is There A Similarity Between Dahir Riyale and Mugabe? Nearly all African societies suffer from not only ineffective governments but Presidents who refuse to leave office who throw their countries into civil war and almost always destroy their societies. Somaliland stood out as a society that has deviated from the known path until now. Somaliland is not Zimbabwe and the two societies are profoundly different in their ethnic composition. However, recently Somali and Zimbabwe seem to have found convergent similarities. Mugabe refused to leave office after a highly publicized election and after a solemn promise to accept the outcome without a fight, but he emerged four days after the election and said ‘no’ to every road to peaceful exit. In Somaliland Dahir Riyale was busy for the past few years stalling every move to register voters. He did not want the country to vote and not trusting the people did not want them to vote him out of office. As the days leading to his exit approached, he asked the NEC to write a letter postponing the timeline of the elections which would give the Guurti (House of Elders) the weapon to fight for him. NEC refused to break the law but Riyale’s Guurti extended the term of office for him and broke the laws that keeps all of them in place. Likewise, Mugabe, after he lost the election, scolded his entourage for not watching the vote carefully and compelled them to agree with him. Riyale and Mugabe’s similarities end here. Mugabe is an old man. He spent more than 10 years in the wilderness fighting the white occupation. In short he found Zimbabwe. When he recently said in an interview ‘Mugabe is Zimbabwe and Zimbabwe is Mugabe.’ It might be true that sadly in his old age, he seriously believes he found Zimbabwe and he has to remain in office until he dies. He might be confused into believing that Zimbabwe is his estate and he the owner of that estate. Therefore, since he fought for it he should always keep his treasure. He might not have envisioned for himself any other post except the President of Zimbabwe. But one wonders what does Dahir Riyale think when he refuses to leave office. Somaliland was neither found nor saved by Dahir Riyale. If Mugabe was the one who saved Zimbabwe, Dahir Riyale is the one Somaliland was saved from. He was among the dark forces of Siad Bare who tortured innocent citizens for not adhering to the rules of his master. He was lucky to have been forgiven for his crimes and luckier even more for inheriting the highest office of the land. No one in the society rejected this lucky inheritance. On the contrary, the people of Somaliland welcomed him and ignored all that could deny him office. Then, he tells us that he was chosen by the people and luckier still, they have chosen him over KULMIYE, the party that had all the war veterans in it. People then were a bit surprised of the outcome of a vote. They expected otherwise but being inherently democratic, they let him stay in office. Now the same people want to hold an election and vote for their candidate. He is a candidate (the only one from his party) but he does not trust the people. Why not? They voted for him once – overwhelmingly, he tells us- why can’t he trust them again. It can only be that he does not have the confidence of being elected and he is afraid that the comrades who have rigged the votes for him last time have given up the job. Unless he lacks confidence to be chosen again by the public, he could not have gone too far transgressing the laws of the land, intimidating the same people who have voted for him. He needs to study his history and his legacy that will offer him nothing but shame. He cannot control people with intimidation. He and his comrades cannot suppress the will of the people. He should allow elections to take place and the people to choose their leader. I think the people of Somaliland, opposition parties, National Election Commission and the international community should work together as soon as possible to register voters. That should be the focus of the land. Our beloved country should stay peaceful. Let the people work hard on saving their votes for the right leader in October. Now is the time to register voters and that should be the single vision. Long live Somaliland. PEACE InshaAllah
  13. Extending your term by one year for no reason, refusing to honor your democracy is just a "lil political rag tag". You tell the international community that, to the world hearing the word democracy is what they love most. I guess that's how's it's done in tribal enclaves through.
  14. Somaliland.org Is there a problem between Opposition Parties and Dahir Riyale or has the President Changed Coats from a Democratically Elected President to a Deaf Dictator? Every time a glimmer of hope shines and all agree on conflict resolution, it is Riyale who turns around and says no to it. So let the chips fall where they may. Let’s call a spade a spade. There is no problem in Somaliland except one: Riyale who refused to leave office at the end of his term. Who else accept him is the problem? Opposition parties and the society do not want him to stay after May 15th simply because his term of office ends. This president is proving to be difficult for a) ignoring the constitution b) disregarding any form of conflict resolution and c) turning the blame elsewhere. Today he is bringing to court the driver of the young girl his police killed without cause. This tactic of beating the innocent is his way of diverting attention and blame. Now the Peace Academy took over the conflict resolution that everyone else failed to achieve. How is the Peace Academy different from the patent Mr. Abdulrahman Cirro? Perhaps, he feels the Peace Academy will fulfil his wish. Trust me as soon as they try to resolve the problem, he will say no. We have seen many conflicts created by his deafness that even the best of the Somali scholars got involved and failed. Does he listen to anyone? Today Awil ran in every direction like a headless chicken yet he refused to negotiate. So did he call the opposition to dictate his terms to them if he was not going to listen to equal partner negotiation. His only tactic is to pass the deadline. Please do not listen to him and do no meet him again. Start wokring to oust him out of office. To keep this president even for a day after his term is over is very dangerous and detrimental to the country. If through negotiation, we allow him to remain for another year we are taking the path of destruction. Igal has set precedence for Riiyale and this is the footpath Riiyale is threading on even thought that was before the Constitution. Now with a Constitution, how can we put informal negotiations over constitutional right? If we allow this president who does not have any reason to remain in office to have his way then we shouldn’t have constitution at all. We should get ready that come April 2009, we will be in the same situation if Somaliland exists that long. Riyale listens to no body, so what guarantees do we have he will leave peacefully after a year. Those who believe so should think again that by then there may not be Somaliland presidency to fight over or constitutional articles to worry about. Don’t give him the long robe to strangle Somaliland. He has already strangled the constitution of the country which is the path to our free nation. Do not give him the opportunity to remain in office and suffocate us? Is Dahir Riyale a man to be trusted? Somali Landers do not know what he has done for the country. Nothing about his actions is transparent. He has proven to be ruthless with the citizens. He gives deaf ears to the road to conflict resolution which is the one think that many Somali Landers boast has saved our country. So if he broke the constitution that has become our road to democracy, if he has given deaf ear to the conflict resolution that has brought us out of darkness and is busy only on his vision of remaining in office and dealing with the public brutally, then what evidence does anyone has that he will be loyal to our country and he will leave the office peacefully after a year. Nothing he shows us point to a merit of a man who honours his word. Somali Landers is warned. Fight him to leave office. Forget peaceful means. Arrini madax la qabtay leedahay ee mijo la qabto ma laha. Bite the bullet and take the bull by the horns. Oust him by force. It he succeeds in the office after May 15th. Let everyone know that he holds the office by dictatorship and there is no democracy in Somaliland. Anyone who believes otherwise is deluding himself. That will be Goodbye Democracy, Welcome Dictatorship! Rhoda A. Rageh
  15. Threads from 4 years ago? You know things are becoming desperate. They are trying to deflect as much attention away from the fact that they can no longer claim they are a democracy.
  16. Somalitalk? Are you serious, should I look for pro TFG sites and use them as credible sources? It is obvious that you hope for a leadership that will be more sympathetic to your cause, and you think the so-called Culumaa is it. But when the Clan courts were at the strongest this Culumaa stood side beside with this Admin to defend their land. Even the populations were willing to do so. Putting on cimamaads and preaching only fooled a few uneducated kids. You see people signing protest letters when they don't agree with something. So there is a level of freedom, but you aren’t' hearing about protesting what's going on in the South. Why? The courts showed their true intentions when then sent their fighters to Gaalkayo and had no intention on negotiating. If the Puntland admin didn't exist the TFG wouldn't either. Who is paying for all of Abdullahi Yusufs trips abroad and ministers fees? Puntland is his backbone!!! The bottom line is, the people won't support an admin that is supporting your cause.
  17. Somaliland, the only remaining somali territory free of foreign military presence today. Not for long, your leader said with his own mouth that he welcomed a US military base. Ethiopia is nothing compared to the US. So get ready!! while I haven't been back in just about 20 yrs now. Why not if it's so amazing? I can assure you that what you hear will be different from what you see. Although I loved every minute during my trip all over east africa, I understand why people are trying to get to the west. A lot of the diaspora are their to chill and relax during the summer, but for those living there it's not all fun and games.
  18. Wow Garowe online finally flip flops and it is a source of info. So during the war when they were backing Puntland and the TFG you sure weren't quoting them. Now they are all pissed Abdullahi Yusuf signed the paper allowing the foreign company to come in and have decided to started to support the opposition who they know are against the contract. They've made a complete reversal. You mentioned it and i'll remind you Faroole's the disgraced ex-minister son's write that from melbourne, they have no clue what is going(the webpage is obsessed with the oil contracts). He's waiting until the end of summer beginning of the fall to come back and run for Puntland president.
  19. political vision that was inclusive YEAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH RIIIIIIIIIIIGGGGGGGGHHHHT. Maybe inclusive for your side....not for mine. I hope next time I see their leadership sitting and making decision with Somalis from all over. Like Abdullahi Yusuf and Nur Cade. We see Sharif, Indha'Cade and Aweys. If you want the country include the country in your leadership. That's why the C in the ICU stood for clan or clown courts.
  20. Given his tenacity in defending this act, I would also add somalipride to this preliminary list of hall of shame. I'd be more then proud to be in the company of these men. Thank you! If it weren't for them it would have fell a long time ago. Posted by Che Geeljire...No DNA neccesary. Reer Bari aa gaaban yihiin oo madoob yihiin. Horaa lagaa soo saaraa. I was wondering and disgusted on how people attacked you and question what you were, I now completely understand!!!! We need to weed this immaturity out!
  21. Anyway this topic is for Puntlanders to name Exactly my point!!!
  22. I have a difficulty swallowing the fact then when we speak about the Puntland admin we have people who supported the ICU and against the TFG or are from Maakhir State giving me their two cents. It is the typical divide and conquer. What you are saying now about Puntland is absolutely nothing compared to what was being said about Abdullahi Yusuf when he was President of the state or what is being said of him now. Puntlands issues arose after the ICU took Xamar and the war that has resulted in it. Puntland is one of the most arid area's in all of East Africa, definitely in Somalia, but Alhamdulilah this admin has been able to take care of it's citizens from being seriously harmed by this. Whatever your motives may be, they'll be a vote and it will be decided whether this admin will get another term. People are upset Puntland has been able to do so much on their own. Have they made mistakes? Absolutely. But most of the bickering comes from people living abroad who have no clue what is really going on.
