  1. Honestly, the only thing that inspires me to even be logged on to the internet is my job. I am required to stare at a pc for hours on end. Therefore, I have to find something entertaining to do. This is not the only forum that I participate in. Whatever my interests are at the time, I try to find the suitable site to indulge in. By nature, I am an observant person. But sometimes the things people write...makes me charged enough to actually press the reply button and say something for the sake of sanity. Or maybe I just agree with them. But there has to be some sort of motivation to type something!
  2. Well Qac Qac, can you quote me the exact words in sharia where it say that a man raping a nonmuslim is not punished at all under islam? tell me where it is..and I will believe you! prove me wrong! If you think that a muslim rapist who raped a nonmuslim girl is allowed to walk around free unpunished...well, then that is not justice... Second of all, you can follow the shariah but that doesnt mean you have to be ignorant of the current issues!
  3. What determines values? For some people its their culture. Others, it is their religion. But whatever it, I think it is your own personal convictions and outlook on life. For example, using the hat example, if you went to any city in america, and you offered a hat or a $100. Most people would opt out of the hat...because they do not need it and 100 would be more valuable for them. Where as if you went to an Imam in some local mosque and offered the same thing, he would take neither because he doesnt need them..and is convinced that Allah will reward him in the akhira...Therefore your personal beliefs=values.
  4. OK, havent read the fourth page but here is my conclusion. White girls...true.. Somali girl..false. I think she got raped before the neighbors heard. As for family collecting money to send him off to somali before the cops know, its true. I know of a true story in toronto! Pakistani girl..possible. I only say this because if its true, then its devastating thing to think about!!!! I hope its not true. OG, so tell me, how do girls ask for it? and if she does invite a guy into her apartment and he does rape her....what do you think the punishment should be huh? This is one of the reason why rapes are not reported in this country..and there are rapists walking amongst us today..because many people like you, OG MOTI, believe it is her fault! Kheyr, I have nothing to say to you but this...you are one confused boy who does not have much experience when it comes to serious topics like this. Otherwise, why would you make jacked up comments like "let the raper marry the victim"..or "a muslims life is more sacred than a nonmuslim"...pls bruh, if one commits a crime, he does the time..muslim or not!!!!!! If you think that a muslim raping a nonmuslim can get away with the crime...boy oh boy.......I'm a stop here!! Qac Qac, think again bruh. Yes women with niqabs get raped too. Even with hajibs, shocking I KNOW  Think about this..its is well known that women are raped by family members, family friends or acquintances. I've read in an article about arab muslim girls being raped by their fathers and uncles. Even somali girls are molested on the regular. But the fact is...somewhere like 70 % of women do NOT report the crimes!!! why? because of people like khayr making comments like "who will marry her"..and not enough support for the VICTIM of a hedious crime. sad but true! Jaylani, big ups to you bro, you are the only male in here who has common sense!
  5. I hope he gets the punishment he deserves. But then again, if he is sent to prison before his deportation, well..he will finally know what it feels like to rape someone, huh? I hope they dont allow him an easy escape of just deportation!
  6. That was the ridiculous article I have ever read. Good example of older Somalis lack of communication with their children and lack of parental skills. They probably got used to the community raising their children back home and now they come here, don't learn the language, talk to thier children and blame the country they chose to live in for problems with their kids. If this was meant to be an informative article on the state of the somali youth in america, it has failed to point out the REAL problems of these children. I guess it's easy to blame the haitians and the jamaicans for their children misbehaviours!!
  7. since I didn't participate ones in this thread..i am wondering why my name is being mentioned and my whereabout..(or future whereabouts)? Tamina, burst his damn bubbles! **offering Xquisite and xtra needle**
  8. Socrates, Well if you read all my posts, you will find that they aren't always charged. In fact, I am no less "in your face" than many of the people here. Mine happens to be popular because some of my views are deemed unpopular by SOMALI standards. I'm sorry that I don't look at the things the same way as you do all the time. I find that your previous post was Offensive to me, and uncalled for. Therefore, my reponse. peace
  9. Socrates, obviously you got beef with my posts? so tell me what do you call people who are pro-men? pls do not carry that name if you don't have any WISDOM to share..k!
  10. The issue we should be discussing is whether condoms are haram or not? Qac Qac, you have accused me many times of being black and white with issues. But you don't seem to be concerned about the welfare or the social issues of HUMANS but merely concerned with image. These people not only need condoms, they need education, drugs, shelters for kids who will soon become homeless. Lets be less concerned about how allowing condoms to be sold LOOKS like we as muslims are OK with zina.
  11. Well Qac Qac, You are oversimplifying the situation. There IS an AIDS threat in Somalia, whether you choose to believe it or not. Sure we have to be scared of AIDS because babies are being born INFECTED. And yes Premerital sex and Adultery is zina but it is still practiced. How do you control them? Whipping them..? Don't think so. By turning a blind eye, you are just gonna have one ignorant of a nation.
  12. People will be people. Make unwise choices. Have premerital sex. Commit adultery. contract a deadly disease called HIV, and bring it home to their wives. Who will give birth to kids with HIV. In the meantime, no one knows its there. It happens. Condoms are necessary, not only as a birth control method (which needs to also be practiced) but as a preventative measure against HIV. It's a reality in Somalia, lets do something about it before it gets out of hand. 70% of young girls don't know about AIDS? what???!!!! If that doesn't disturb you, then I dont know what would. Just because we are muslims doesnt mean we are too perfect for this disease because people, AIDS does NOT discriminate! I for one am really  Peace Ps: I'm sorry but who is administrating(?sp) the Shari'a in Somalia? Just curious!
  13. Bambina, I agree with you ...make your own conclusions about the book. Personally, I have heard the woman speak last night on TVO (have not read the book). At first, I thought this chick needs an attitude adjustment..looked like she had a chip on her shoulder. But Later on, as my mom would agree, she did make good points about middle-eastern countries and the voice of the Muslim people (or should I say lack thereof). We as muslims are not the most perfect people on earth, nor do we not have important issues to discuss. All we are concerned is about the "IMAGE" of the muslim people to nonmuslim rather than tackling issues between us. We do have terrorist amongst our people, but we are complacent about it. I especially liked when she said "We as Muslims need to be challenged"...meaning if we are in the wrong, WE NEED THINGS FIXED..we are far from perfect. As for the feminist part of the your post Jazeera, why must we always put feminism in such a negative connatation? Are we so againt Women's rights? I am feminist (pro-woman's rights), does that make me a nonmuslim or discredit the work that I do? As for her Homosexuality, that is haraam, but then again how many sins do you commit on a daily basis...or your whole life put together? In fact, within the panel of muslims there, there were some shady characters too, that I wouldnt want representing me as a Muslim. I didn't like the way that Al-mesry kept dodging issues when asked a simple question.
  14. I guess the Saudi Shari'ah is againt kids entertainment.
  15. Qac Qac, Do you make it a habit to care about every somali person in this world? Again we are so caught up in other people's business because?
  16. ^ lol Uhmm, yeah..so now I am a rebel against Islam because of the 2-3 threads on the Islam thread that I posted on, huh? You know so much about me I see. I'm glad someone here is taking the time out to do a "thorough" research about me!
  17. Well..What is wrong with what she said? She was correct about certain things...Maybe it just wasn't approperiate for the occasion.
  18. Why are we so concerned with other people's religious beliefs? because they are Somali? C'mon now people..you can do better than that!
  19. Originally posted by Baashi: quote:Originally posted by Opinionated: But I afraid u did question their entire faith by simply questioning this particular issue. And how did I do that? because I disagreed? Dont you think thats a bit childish? but for crying out loud don't u shed baby tears when other nomads express their thought in response to urs or post under their own dose of the same influence of strong opinions. lol brother, this topic and its responses did not put a damper on my day. Shed tears. For who exactly? You can post under your strong opinions if you like, but that doesn't give you the right to target me personally (which is what is happening). Nevertheless, this is expected behaviour from somalis in general...and I find it amusing, needless to say. peace n hugz
  20. Originally posted by Baashi: Calling the mahram 'idea' a bunch of crock is not a respectfull thing to do or is it?. Equating women who embrace mahram as an obligation of their faith to a children in need of protection and 'chaporoning' is a form of riducling and belittling everything that Islamic directive stands for. What u practice is your perogative and u know what u do and practice is not an issue here. You don't have a license to libel - that's all. Thats what I think of the issue that was being discussed. Now, did I make negative remarks to OTHER nomads? Nope. Did I question their entire faith outside this issue? Nope. Did I make references to their Nicknames? Nope. I don't see why they should. Now whether you take my stance on the issue as negative or positive is your perogative. This is a forum. See where I am coming from? You might not like my reasons but I did not cuss people out! Oh well thought. This is getting all too redundant for my taste anyway. peace
  21. Originally posted by Baashi: Demanding respect of other nomads' 'sacred values' is not too much to ask. I'm glad you mentioned respect. And where in this thread did I disrespect S.O.L.ers without instigation? is demanding the respect of my personal values too much to ask? Lakkad, Brother, Am I the only poster in this thread?
