There is a right way to do things, and a wrong way. Most people choose what type of relationship is right or wrong. I personally don't care much about other people's boy/girlfriend relationships.

Qori, Wouldn't it hurt anyone to type for example FGM on the search, and pick the topic they wanted to added to and just bump that topic back up because there are many people who probably have never read that thread. Trust me, forums that actually practice this are more effective and interesting because there is always something new to read.

If you live in a secular country, I think Hijab is a choice (since it isnt forced upon you, you make the choice to wear when you are ready) In a muslim country it is either forced upon you or pressured by family. For some people it has become a political symbol almost.

The african americans in america come in all different shades ranging from almost white-dark brown. So does that also NOT make them black? Also, weren't they from Africa originally? In any case, whatever we mixed with millenia's ago is irrelevant now. Just because you happen to be lighter than most doesn't mean that you aren't African (whether somalia is breaking off this millenium or not).

I don't mind make-up. Typical day I can just live on MAC powder/foundation and tinted lipgloss. It's more about the hair for me than makeup. Bambina, if you've never used foundation or powder, I wouldn't recommend you to. If you don't like lipstick (like me) then lipglosses are much lighter and conforms to your lipcolor a bit. Mascara is a bit much, but eyeliners are the shidh!

America's health insurance sucks. I think more that 50 million don't have health insurance (heard it on one of the talk shows). Why can't they be more like Canada?

^ All marriages have their problems. Marrying a Somali man would not be problem-free. Most of my relatives are english-speaking. If they choose not to speak english to him, then who's problem is it really? Most parents tell their kids "there will be communication problems between the families"..but most of the time, its a refusal on the parents behalf to not even try to make it work for their children! If part of your family will never accept you with a non-somali, then they are not even your REAL family! I mean will you live your whole life to try and please your extended family? do what they want you to do because they just dont want a change? Live life as they see fit? I say cut your loss! Have an open dialogue with non-muslims on campus. Sorta like a forum. We have a muslim dialogue club at our school (they are not part of MSA but their own org).
