  1. The armed youth are not equipped with patients let alone reading a long article on Halgan.
  2. Though it appears entertaining, most of these are in their sermons and talking points and taken literally without exaggeration. Shayaadiin wadanka loo soo diray. Another well defining cartoon by Amir. Well done.
  3. ^The system wasn't designed to end the hunger problems in the world. UN's WFP would have instantly gone out of commission and so would millions of cadaan farmers. It was intended to offer a day's worth of cup of shaah for the needy. Africa needs to boyscout such systems if it plans to get out of the mess. I once heard Haiti was a well producing rice country and its citizens now depend on similar handouts. Go figure. This level of corruption is nothing new to us. Really. We have already nudged it up one level once we introduced to the world the concept of anarchy is habitable. Anarchy is the new democracy. Vote for your Klan Warlord or Klan Cimamadlord. No life or law to be honored and obeyed. No system to be feared or regarded as supreme. To complicate a bit further, we call ourselves Muslims, yet Islam goes against anarchism and stateless entity. For almost twenty long years, Somalia run in anarchy basically because some skinny Moryaan refused to give up his power and fame over stable state. Selfishly gaining few million dollars and daring to risk his life and that of everyone in the country. Stealing a country from eight million people is much more corrupt than a load of rice going to few hundred dying Somalis. One is not better than the other but one is definitely a lot worst than the other.
  4. You must fit the generic description of every skinny out there.
  5. I once got $5 gift card at Starbucks Coffee. A five dollars doesn't buy you a lot at the Starbucks and I stopped going their years ago. But that is not the point. It was a good and welcoming gesture so I accepted it with gratitude and put it in an empty drawer. A friend lost her cellphone few week later and cadaan guy in the mall found it and called me as I was the last person she dialed. The friend and I went to pick up the phone. We met him at the lobby of his hotel, a five star hotel. He was well dressed, wearing what looked like $5000 suit, probably business man or NYSE broker. But that didn't stop me to extend my sincere $5 gift for him. He said we didn't need to get him any gift. He said he did not call us to get some reward in return. I said I insist in giving the card to him and he smiled and gladly took it. Image if that were a nomad or any SOLer? Would they accept a $5 Starbucks Coffee gift card? Check this youtube video. Gift exchanging Fast forward to 4:50
  6. ^You're damn right. President Sharif should request more peacekeeping forces until these savages start learning to stop firing and rampaging the city.
  7. can someone please translate this?? Why do you need translation? Far miyaan lagu galin?
  8. Originally posted by Meiji: So far, there is no one faction that has adopted the correct strategy and is prepared to genuinely advance and defend the interest and security of Mogadishu society and Somalia in general. What is that? Reviving the Sr Aydeed dream of anarchy or Moryanism sovereignty?
  9. What if Hassan Daahir Aweys joins the new government. - What if Hassan Turki accepts this government. - What if Rooboow is given the minister position inthe cabinet. Three disgraced men to Somalia and all humanity for that matter. What if they were to vanish from the face of earth? Somalia would have been that much closer to re-discovering peace and life without continual civil war.
  10. ^ I guess it is too soon for them to get over the PM position not going to Maslax as the Gedonet report below implies. On a serious note, can a minister actually resign before taking oath of office? As a minister designee, he could not have resigned since he currently holds no official a ministry position. He simply opted out of taking the offer due to lack of clannish prophecy fulfillment. Yikes! Beesha *******[siyaad Barre] oo ka mid ah beelaha ugu waaweyn qabaa'ilada Soomaalida degtana goboladda J/hoose Gedo iyo Galgudud ayaa waxa la siiyey hal wasiir oo ah wasiirka baatroolka, iyo macdan oo aan dalka ka shaqeyn iyadoo beesha ******* sheegtey in ay mar hore ka laabteen kalsoonidii Dawladda Kumeel gaadh ka aysan tageersaneyn hadana tageeri doonin. 11. It is long video and kind of low quality but viewable. Good discussion but I think Dr. Mohamed said it best on the second part 13:39. Two part video
  12. What a hasty and emotional decision not to mention terrible timing. Based on what guarantees the Ulema won't get slaughtered by the drug lord militia? I hope the armed youth are not using the ulema to push a hidden agenda and take over the security situation and use it as a leverage over the newly built government. I expect the ulema to act smarter and diligent about the situation. They should not give in to the request of current and former militia gangs turned hard line islamists. The ulema must keep in mind the Mansuur gangs in Moqdisho streets are much more dangerous to the public than the AMISOM boots. I think the president should put all emotions aside and disagree with these ulema. The foreign troops should stay put to safeguard the government's interest so long Shabaab's extreme violent exodus continues.
  13. Marx, I am sensing you had a very difficult childhood. Not enough love and compassion going around. If you find venting therapeutic, I am afraid SOL is not the place. I once saw a poster in a hospital reading, one can have a bad day but when everyday turns a bad day, you need to seek a professional help. Depression shall not be taken lightly.
  14. NY Post cartoon seems to link Obama to dead chimp By KAREN MATTHEWS – 1 hour ago NEW YORK (AP) — The New York Post is standing behind a cartoon that some have interpreted as comparing President Barack Obama to a violent chimpanzee gunned down by police. The cartoon in Wednesday's Post by Sean Delonas shows two police officers standing over the body of a bullet-riddled chimp. One of the officers says the other, "They'll have to find someone else to write the next stimulus bill." Civil rights activist Al Sharpton called the cartoon "troubling at best given the historic racist attacks of African-Americans as being synonymous with monkeys." But Sharpton said the Post should clarify the point it was trying to make with the cartoon, which was playing off Monday's rampage by a pet chimpanzee in Stamford, Conn., that left a woman severely mauled. Police ended up killing the chimp. In a statement, Post Editor-in-Chief Col Allan said: "The cartoon is a clear parody of a current news event, to wit the shooting of a violent chimpanzee in Connecticut. It broadly mocks Washington's efforts to revive the economy. Again, Al Sharpton reveals himself as nothing more than a publicity opportunist." A story about the cartoon on the liberal-leaning Huffington Post Web site drew hundreds of reader responses, many calling the cartoon racist and insensitive. Sam Stein, a columnist for the site, wrote that "at its most benign, the cartoon suggests that the stimulus bill was so bad, monkeys may as well have written it. Most provocatively, it compares the president to a rabid chimp. Either way, the incorporation of violence and (on a darker level) race into politics is bound to be controversial."
  15. Rumor has it the new president is pushing for some extreme ideas implemented for peace to take root in Southern Somalia. A key requirement for the armed youth to come off the list, opening rehab centers for them and making the necessary programs available for their recovery so the country finally gets some rest from their destructive pathways. I like to see the top dogs including Mansuur in the rehab house learning the basics of Islam, valuing human life, specially that of a fellow Muslim. The president is taking a difficult position and I hope he succeeds but the billion shillings question is can my unruly neighbor be rehabilitated back to normal life?
  16. Such matters should remain off limit.
  17. There is no such a thing as free pass to Jahanama. It too needs lots of work.
  18. Woman Claims Bank Singled Her Out For Head Scarf SAN DIEGO -- A woman who wore an Islamic head scarf to a local bank said she was turned away and singled out, and is a victim of discrimination. Amal Hersi and her family moved to the U.S. from Somalia in search of freedom. Hersi said she's had the freedom she's wanted, up until last Saturday. "I felt like a criminal. I felt humiliated. I fell ashamed," said Hersi. Hersi said she was waiting in line at the Navy Federal Credit Union in Mission Valley when she said she was stopped by an employee. "So she goes, 'Ma'am, could you follow me?' And at that point I was like what did I do wrong?" said Hersi. Hersi said the reason was because she wore a traditional Muslim scarf. "For her to approach me in front of 40 people and they're actually looking at me thinking, you know, what's wrong with her or why is she being singled out," said Hersi. Even after telling the employee she wore the scarf for religious reasons, she was asked to remove it. She compares herself to any other person wearing a garment, like a Jewish man wearing a Yarmulke or a Catholic nun wearing a habit. "I feel naked because this is what I know; this is how I grew up. It's my religion," said Hersi. Many banks have policies like this in order to deter bank robbers, a representative from the Navy Federal Credit Union said. "In the interest of security and safety for our members and employees, hats, hoods and sunglasses must be removed when entering the branch office," Navy Federal Credit Union said in a statement. It's a policy that is difficult for Hersi to grasp since she said wearing a scarf is not a choice. "This is part of my religion to wear this scarf. It symbolizes who I am. A Muslim woman is suppose to be modest," said Hersi. Copyright 2009 by 10News.com. All rights reserved. This material may not be published, broadcast, rewritten or redistributed. Watch Video

  20. Regardless of Education, money or any kind of opportunity that one would have here in the western world. I think home is always the best place n we will have better life at home. However, considering the situation n lack of the security back home, at the moment we are better off in this qurbo. To conclude, I believe If the situation back home would have been stable then no doubt that we r much better off in home than Qubajoog. I think the only reason of why we favor now the diapora over our homeland is the ongoing civil war. THERE IS NO PLACE LIKE HOME..
