Well done to the two brotherly clans . But there's a need in puntland and in Somalia as a whole a permanent comprehensive resolution to clan conflicts. It has paralysed the country, lead to brain drain as intellectuals and business people with their money flee to the neighbouring countries for fear of revenge killings (Aano Qabiil). This slows progress and discourages much needed investment. Puntland should adopt Sharia Law whereby any one who kills any one deliberately should be killed on the spot no blood money nonsense that incentifies people to kill as they know in the back of their mind that their clan is going to own up and pay blood money for them. This needs all the clans to sign up to it in and make clear commitment for all to see. This is a short term fix but the long strategy is addressing the root causes of the conflict such as constructing more water wells (this by far where it starts most of the time), employment creation and employing the most powerful tool which is : taking education to the rural Somalia and to the nomads. "Olelihii waxbarashada" kind of style come to mind but in much sustainable way. This is very expensive but with help of the diaspora and business communities some are achievable.

Even now they have more reason to support Alshabab than ever before, as the leader of Alshabab is from Somaliland and given how tribalism is rooted in the North there is little doubt there is some connection. Puntland should ofcourse monitor the situation and brief the international community about this, otherwise it will affect its security sooner or later.

Good job Faroole. Much needed investment in puntland can not come unless there's a reliable security apparatus that overpowers pirates, terrorists, humantrafickers and disarms the warring clans(this is the biggest challenge that is facing any authority in whole of Somalia).

The young lady has some valid points, but chose to address the problem in a wrong way. I suspect Norway's welfare sytem is similar to that of UK, and as far as it goes, the abuse in the sytem is not exclusive to the Somali community alone and many white natives as well as other ethnic groups are on it. She should have discussed the problem in broad terms suggesting where the flaws of the welfare sytem are and bring forward a practical solution. But singling out the Somali community, she is playing into the hands of the white supremist and all kind of bad publicity that Somalis don't need and can't afford. Also, I sense laziness in her, if she needs change, she should first started from her house and from the community centres and mosques instead of going public. I imagine organsing seminars at the weekeds, raising awareness at the somali media would have been more beneficial than going to Nowegian press. Now, that's is an achievement and for that he earned the respect and the support of the most of the Puntland people. Galgala issue is a minor and it has got nothing to do with clans except for few individuals who see everything on clan goggles. SSC is another issue that's equally a headache to both Somaliland and Puntland and even more so to Somaliland than as it is to Puntland.
