Somalia, Farmaajo would say such thing to prevent any assistance to SSomali goverment halted becouse of a corruption allegation to former officials made public, that's understandable. Also its understandable that PM Abdiwali asks TFG sponsors and lenders to get tax relief at the port but should have been done through a transparent sytem that has controls in place. The guys who have to lose in big way are Sh Hassan and Sh Ahmed. They being alleged to have used private companies owned by them and individuals that are related to them to misappropriate and extort money. That could damage their presidential campaign. Alln in all, these are allegations and will need to be substiated before court. I would say the Joint anti corrption comitee should investiate this as a matter of urgency.

Assistance to the Somalia National Security Agency from the Government of Oman 35. In April 2009, General Mohamed Sheikh Hassan was appointed director general of the Somali National Security Agency (NSAA), the agency responsible for intelligence collection and analysis, counter-terrorism and immigration. Upon taking office, he learned that his predecessor, General Mohamed Warsame Farah “Darawiish”, had secured US$3 million in security assistance from the Government of Oman, and decided to request a second contribution from Oman. 36. General Darawiish confirmed to the Monitoring Group that the Government of Oman had previously provided US$3 million in security assistance to the NSA and stated that the funds had been used to pay salaries to the Somali security forces, as well as to purchase rations and basic equipment.31 However, a former NSA official told the Monitoring Group that a dispute had arisen between former President Abdillahi Yusuf and former PM Nur Hassan Hussein ‘Adde’ over the allocation of the Omani funds: the PM wanted the money to be deposited into the Central Bank Somalia account, but the President and General Darawiish had disagreed.32 According to the official: “The money simply disappeared and was never accounted for.”33 37. In March 2010, Mohamed Sheikh succeeded in obtaining a meeting with his Omani counterpart. The meeting was arranged by the Somali Ambassador to Oman, Hassan Mohamed Siyad (the son of the late Somali President Mohamed Siyad Barre), as well as a Somali-Omani intermediary.34 Private management of public funds Abbas Sheikh Mohamed and Yuusuf Sheikh Mohamed 48. The case of the Omani contribution is also illustrative of the commingling of public and private interests that characterizes the TFG’s finances, and the way that public funds are routinely entrusted to private individuals for transmission via informal channels. This of course complicates the task of tracking funds, and creates opportunities for diversion, fraud and laundering to occur. 49. One of the recipients of Omani funds identified by Ambassador Sheikhey was A.S.M.J General Trading, a company managed by Abbas Sheikh Mohamed ‘Jamalo’ (also spelt Jimale), a Dubai based Kenyan-Somali businessman and close clan relation of President Sheikh Sharif (******/******/*****/Agoonyar). According to current and former TFG officials, Abbas routinely advances funds to the TFG, and provides meticulous accounts when he wants reimbursement.50 One of his primary services has been the provision of dry food and daily subsistence to the TFG security forces.5

Abwaan, what you got got there is the Hiiraan Online's analysis (which is quite biased to say the least). The real report does not point any conclusive wrong doing to Abdiwali. This report is damning to Sh Hassan in particular and in some extent Sh Sharif Ahmed, the president. By the way, I read the full reprt and I was going to post before I saw your thread.

As August Deadlines Nears, Somalis Are Poised to Meet it.

I don't get it, what is wrong with the article about the border and how should it have been stated? -
AYOUB;849703 wrote: You mean >>* http://www.mudugonline.com/2005/january/020105aragti4.htm Not a lot people know his true views because of gift of the gab. I enjoy how he does his best avoiding just saying "assalaam calaikum". He would mumble "waxaan idinku salaamaya salaanta Ilaahay weyna ee na abuuray..bla bla". It's like he had a bet with someone he won't utter those two words. * Yes that the comment I was talking about and yeah it was him not his brother. Reading those comments again reaffirms that the guy will not be any good with all his talents and ideas as he questions the existence of one of the main believes of Islam: The day of judgment (Yawmul Qiyaama).

Ahmed samatar is well educated and is the only one that in my opinion understands where the Somalia's root problems lie. But I am afraid he will not pass the first round of the election for two reasons: 1. Electing Ahmed Samatar at this time will be a set back and handing it to Al shabaab. He will be easy to attack and his comments in London about the religion will not help him either ( I think it was him or his brother, one of the two). 2. As Somalis have not moved one from clan politics and there are alot of suspicion among the major clans, an election of Mr samatar will disrupt the clan balance and can lead to revolft and further power struggle. For example, who should he name Primeminster? Samar would say I will pick the most competent reagardless of clan but that does not work in Somlia. Somalis ask 'yuu yahay' before they ask ' muxuu ii qaban karaa'. Even if he fails the guy has some good ideas and should be part of the next goverment in advisory position. For example, he could be made in charge of the Somalia tinktank that develops the strategic goverment policies.

Ethopia is behind this no doubt. They fear Somali republic will support separatists resistances in Western Somalilands. I support the idea of negotiated peaceful settlement but putting it as an article in the constitution is quite telling. I thnk Somalis would go along with this. Becouse firstly, you don't want the powerful neighbour spoiling the part before it even began. Secondly, the somali borders along Ethopian border is already recognised as disputed in the United Nations. Thirdly, Kenya would want to file artibtration by the UN on their claim on Somali sea with or without Somalia agreeing. Outcome of that will depend on how Somalis are determined to see off Kikuyus.

lol @Elpunto's Jihad. Journalism in the West has come down to what sells rather what the facts are. That's why they would never show Africa and Moslems in good perspective. Also, you got to love how almost all the African success stories have their connections to a Western country or western individual. Its like saying if it wasn't upto me you would be nothing.

Dr don't wait, do something yourself. Start your own initiative rather than waiting others to do things on your behalf. While this hospital is needed, I think It would have been more helpful if Manhal supported the Galkio General hospital and put all resoures together in order tangible progress is made.

Is any one deluded to think in these talks Somaliland will get recognition? I doubt even if Silaanyo believes that. They are there to prevent any future armed confrontation with the South and get their share of Somalia development fund as Puntland does. So they are basically avoiding isolation and deprivation, that's clever, I say.
