Maybe they do it for fun, or as an outlet for what they couldn't do in the non-virtual world. Argumentums. Hmmm. Those terms appear to be shiny and appealing. But then, one wonders if it's practical. Emotion is hardwired into humans. No wonder not many use logic.
  2. Disastrous Iraq adventure is a sideshow to the long haul war on terror

Originally posted by nuune: "Ultimately, the threat of jihadi terrorism from Somalia can only be addressed through the restoration of stable, legitimate and functional government," Who's going to attempt a restoration? The West? I don't think so. The West is bogged down in Afghanistan & Iraq, and has so far failed to establish a restoration. Afghanistan & Iraq have no stable, legitimate and functional governments. Ethiopia? I don't think so. Ethiopia had a painful experience with the jihadist Ahmed Gurey. It knows, in attempting a restoration, it could open a Pandora's box. "The jihadis are praying for the Ethiopians to come", it quoted one moderate Islamist in Somalia as saying. "They can easily make Somalia like Iraq." Unfortunately, Ethiopia hasn't enough resources for even 1/100 of an Iraqi-like adventure. Even if it has, it knows it cannot gamble a confrontation against Islamists.

It's not an answer I come up with; it's an answer concluded by Western senior intelligence analysts. The answer can be found in many books. One such: Imperial Hubris.

For the first, there are many who're not ethnically Somali but are nationally Somali, and vice versa for the later. AFAIK, OLOL has an excellent track record of caring about Somalis, especially those in dire straits (read his article about the small girl), and Somalia's environmental catastrophes (read his many articles about the toxic wastes).

I find Muta' itself irresponsible. A transient marriage that's based on fulfilling one's lusts is very damaging to society. It's not one based on stability. I wonder how prevalent is the practice among our Shiite brothers & sisters. I hope it's not widespread.
